This was our first time to Biloxi and we were looking for a dog friendly restaurant that served seafood. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess and waitress. We got a table outside overlooking the beach. We ordered a cosmopolitan and gold margarita. Both were very average. I would not order them again. For dinner we ordered a pound of the Royal Red shrimp and lemon pepper chicken wings. Both were very good. The service was excellent! As soon as we ordered something, a server showed up with it. Located right by the beach, this establishment is a good spot to get seafood right before or after playing in the water. I would say most of the food is good and not amazing, which I am perfectly okay with. All the fried food relied on sauces to help provide flavor, which was a disadvantage because the food itself was not sufficiently seasoned to provide flavor. This included the fried green tomatoes that was slightly seasoned, and some of the seafood items on the captain's platter. On the platter itself, the fish was not seasoned at all, so it needed tartar sauce for flavor. The hush puppies and the crabcakes were great and I could easily eat them by themselves and felt like they tasted good. The shrimp had good size. The dish overall had more fries than seafood which was meh, but I could deal with that since there was a lot of food overall. My partner had the flounder and I tried some. Both of us agreed on that it neede more salt, particularly for the fish and the veggies. The crab tasted great. Having lemon on top of the fish was a positive as lemon always got that special touch for fish dishes as we know. The blue & claw was a special item on the board rather than the menu, and that was the most enjoyable dish we've had. The crab claws were trimmed to make it easy for us to eat, which ended up being the case for sure, and the juice provided really good flavor, making it difficult to eat the claws without trying to coat the juice around it. I even tried dipping some of the fish from the captain's seafood platter to the juice and it turned out great! The cheesecake was excellent as well, especially since it was blueberry and white chocolate, which was already a combination that I didn't see often. There was a good flavor and textural distinction between the crust and the cream cheese portion, which made the dish very enjoyable. Overall I would recommend this place! Started with Beach Balls - potato & bacon balls fried and served with queso and with ranch. Very yummy but very dense. Will pass on this next time. Husband ordered the fish of the day (triggerfish $28) with roasted potatoes, a shrimp cream sauce and a salad. Neither of us had ever had triggerfish, so we were very pleasantly surprised at the flaky white fish. I had the fried crab claws, which were supposed to be an appetizer, but at $29.99, they were my meal and I ate every one of them without the provided sauces. They were as good as any I remember ever having. And since they are SO hard to find - good ones, that is - it was well worth the price. With husband's Corona, my soda and all the food, lunch as $83.95 before tip. Pricy but something to think about for a monthly trek. Service was super friendly. This restaurant is right on the beach. We join the wait list before we left the hotel as there was a 30-45 minute wait as it was a Friday night. When we got there it took the hostess about 5-7 minites to seat us. I ordered the nachos for the table they were really flavorful with a large portion. My kids ordered burgers they both said the burgers were very tasty with buttered sourdough buns that gave the burger more flavor. The fries were crispy and seasoned well. I ordered the jerk shrimp bowl. The rice in the bowl was plain white rice. l was expecting rice with better flavor for a jerk shrimp bowl. The shrimp was well seasoned. The bowl had mango salsa, tomatoes and plantains more ingredients would have made this a better bowl maybe black beans, avocado, corn it just needed more than bland rice tomatoes, shrimp and salsa. I was in Biloxi for a convention, and the convention had not started yet so I had an evening free to grab something to eat that was not convention food. I went looking through websites to see if there was anything that stood out to me, and while I am not that big on going to "the big tourist place" I figured I would give it a shot in this case since it was on the water and not part of a casino. Arriving at the place, there was plenty of parking but it was somewhat busy. I walked in and looked about, then went out to the porch just to see how the ocean looked. It was a bit chilly and windy out, and the outdoor seating was not being used by anyone, which meant that they were not serving out there. In addition, there was a definite waiting list for people to get a table... but there was a bar with plenty of seats at it, so that is what I went for. I did a quick tour around the tables as well, just to see what others were eating... this is always something that I like to do, as it shows what tends to be the hot items on the menu that folks are enjoying. It sometimes sways me, but not always. I went with a sampling platter of shrimp, fish, and crab cakes. It was good, but it is also exactly what I expected to get from a place like this. See, I grew up in the Florida Keys.where places like this are all over the place, so finding really good seafood is something that I am always on the lookout for. I knew this was going to be commercialized stuff that was aimed at the tourist, but I just wasn't in the mood for finding that backwater place that only the locals know about to grab a bite to eat at. The food was good, don't get me wrong, but I know that there is better out there. I enjoyed the meal, the price was reasonable for what I got, and I got to see a bit of Biloxi while I was at it. Upon entering the restaurant we were met with a woman named Chloe who was EXTREMELY kind and talkative. After getting our drinks - we were greeted by our waitress. Well, we thought... Her name was GEGE and she was freakin miserable and that made our experience take a bad turn. My mother got the Shrimp Trio, all of which was practically bone dry, and the coconut shrimp tasted as though they were bought from Cisco in bulk and frozen for months then heated on site. DISGUSTING. For a restaurant LITERALLY OCEANSIDE, we expected at least edible food. This restaurant failed in every single aspect and I can guarantee I will never be back. DO. NOT. COME. Let's begin with this: I ordered the raw oysters. They were not cold, did not taste fresh, and looked like they had already given up on life. My husband got the crab boil--his crab was stringy and tasted... suspicious. I then made the brave (foolish?) decision to try the tuna poke bowl. The tuna was warm (not intentionally) and tasted like it had taken a wrong turn several days ago. I should have sent it back, but I didn't want to make a fuss, and since the oysters were also warm and off, I figured maybe that's just how they do things here. Let me be crystal clear, I do not recommend this place to anyone you actually like or anyone you'd prefer didn't spend the evening clutching their stomach. I genuinely do not understand how this place has such high ratings. Maybe just come for a drink--the cocktails were solid. Maybe everyone's getting tipsy enough that they forget the food was a disaster? That's the only explanation I've got. Skip this spot and go to Catch 110, Half Shell, or the Oyster Pub--all of them are lightyears better. We even contacted the restaurant afterward and got total radio silence, which pretty much confirmed our theory: this place is all about quantity, not quality. The food is great here! And the service was just as good! It started storming when we were seated outside so the staff moved us inside and quickly accommodated us! We ordered Fried Pickles, Fried Green Tomatoes, the Epic Wings in lemon pepper dry rub, the Peel-and-eat Royal Reds, Shaggy's Snapper and Shaggy's Famous Cheese Burger. The fried pickles and green tomatoes were perfectly fried with a side of ranch that was a 10 out of 10 good quality house made ranch! The peel-and-eat Royal Reds were like a small seafood boil which was just prawns now really giant shrimp like everyone raves about; still good though. The cheese burger was pretty standard but the snapper was so delicious! It came with what I would describe as a light Alfredo sauce with three giant slices of mushroom and over cooked rice. The fish was perfectly good and seasoned well. Over all the food was pretty good. We had such a lovely experience at Shaggy's for a girls' lunch! It was my daughters' first time visiting the restaurant, and they were all smiles from start to finish. The atmosphere was relaxed--not too noisy--which made it easy for us to catch up and enjoy each other's company. Since it was a hot and humid day, we opted to dine inside, though there were plenty of people enjoying the fresh air on the patio. The food arrived fresh and hot, which we really appreciated. I had the grilled flounder sandwich, and the portion was generous--the flounder was huge, perfectly cooked, and incredibly juicy. My daughters tried the fried coconut shrimp and the fried fish platter, both of which were crispy, flavorful, and well-seasoned. My sister went with the fried shrimp platter and was very pleased. My mother had the charbroiled oysters, fried green tomatoes, and fried onion rings--she was very content with her meal and enjoyed every bite.
