I ordered 2 burgers , the Shack Burger and Smoke Shack (no fries) and a red velvet shake that totaled $20 bucks. I'm not sure what was so special about the burgers, where people had to wait over an hour in line for. People compared it to In-N-Out, but Shake Shack burgers are so much smaller than In-N-Out...it really didn't taste the same either. Shake Shack has the best burger I've ever had. The cheese fries are great as well. The cheese tastes very natural. The shakes are delicious! I have never been disappointed. Shake shack is like east coasts in-and-out burger, but I don't think they compare at all ! The two times I've been there to eat , I ordered the smokeshack burger with applewood bacon and chopped cherry peppers that give it the perfect amount of spicy. Their burgers are a little on the small side but the flavor is big, big and BIG!! I got the Smokeshack with cheese fries and let me tell you, it was heaven! The chopped cherry peppers on the burger gives it that pop and the beef patty was seasoned to perfection! The cheese fries were great! We came here Saturday night for some dessert. I got the da smores and my date got the chicken sandwich. I'm not sure what was worse the price for a basic chicken sandwich to be 6 dollars or the pickup line the guy behind us was using on a group of girls. The frozen custard wasn't good, it no way tased anything similar to smore and the ice cream was just a sole store bought vanilla and chocolate. Typical fast food burger and fries, but sold at a premium. If you're downtown shopping and would like to grab something, it's pricing is better compared to the restaurants around it. This place is not worth me going out of my way for food. The patties are flattened, and thrown on a flat top grill. I prefer my burgers plump and juicy. I got the Publican Pork sausage. Really good with the crispy fried onions. I had a bite of my kid's burger. They nailed the mix and the salt content reaches the bliss level. Supposedly Chicago's "in-n-out" but not even close to an in n out price. Burgers are overpriced for a homemade tasting burger. Burgers are alright, atmosphere is nice. I guess prices are increased for the location. They don't have combo meals like in-n-out. $5.19 for a single burger which is the same size as a happy meal burger and $2.95 for small fries that are similar to ore-ida unfortunately. I ate my whole meal faster than it was made lol. Similar prices to Five Guys, but Five Guys gives you a ton of fries. The burger is more of a steakburger than anything else. It is NOT an In-n-Out comparable. The bun is sweet and much smaller. The fries are NOTHING to die for. They seem and taste frozen. A burger, fries, and a frozen custard will run you about $16! That's DEFINITELY NOT In-n-Out prices and way more than what a steakburger should cost. OK! The four stars was just for the fact I was actually able to get in and order my food within a reasonable wait. The bacon cheeseburger was very good, the fries were much better then in-n-out. McDonald's fries are still the best. Overall very pricey compared toon-n-out, But the food was quality and tasty. I will still probably try to go to one of the Manhattan restaurants, even though I've been to those restaurants five times never have eaten anything in Manhattan because of the wait times. I'll definitely go back to the one on Rush Street in Chicago. Oh, almost forgot! Very civilized and include menu options for your pops! Of course this was very important to us, even though the girls were not there for us to try and enter. It would be awesome if they would let the pups in. read more

Only had time for a shake for my first visit to Shake Shack - and it was amazingg. I tried the creamy black and white shake and I wasn't disappointed. What was even better though, was the lady who served me in the express lane. One of the NICEST LADIES I'VE EVER MET. My sister wanted to get their frozen custard, and even though she was already set getting one, the lady went out of her way to get us all samples. Came here on day two of Shake Shack's opening. Waited in line and for our food for a total of maybe 20 minutes and it was so worth it!! He got the double ShakeBurger and I had the SmokeShack and we decided to be real bad and share a Publican Pork Sausage, Cheese Fry (Yukon potatoes and hand made real cheese sauce), and a Salted Carame'L' concrete (vanilla custard, banana and glazed and infused salted caramel old-fashioned donut) yes I will be working out a few hours for the next week but everything we ate was hormone, antibiotic free with nothing artificial. I actually felt great after eating my delicious food.. The staff is great and the dining room was very inviting. I will be back again and again! read more

I went to the preview party on 11/3. The burger was small but heavy. It was definitely fulfilling for under $5. The fries were ok and the hot dog was very good. We got this delivered at work for a big group, so my review is based solely off the food and not the location. I assumed I'd have a hard time finding something on their menu being a vegetarian and I'd have to settle for a blah veggie burger since this place is known for their meat burgers. I was way wrong! I waited for a few months for the lines to settle, plus the last time it was cold. I have to say it was worth the wait, I stopped in after a movie. The line moved fast and I had my order in no time. Visited on a Tuesday afternoon at 4pm, just before the dinner rush. I ordered the ShackBurger with Fries and a Vanilla Malt Frozen Custard Shake. The burger was delicious and the vanilla malt was one of the best I've ever had. On my first visit, I tried to use the express line (for just custard). I stood there for almost 2 minutes waiting for some acknowledgement, either to take my order or to inform me that that line was closed. The nearest cashier definitely noticed me; she kept looking at me, but didn't bother to say anything. The second visit went better. Husband and I went on a Sunday evening, so there was no line. There wasn't much seating; however. We did manage to grab some seats only because we hovered awkwardly over somebody who was leaving. That's seems to be the only way to get a table. The food was extremely over priced given how small the portions are. I understand this is River North, but other similarly priced burger joints in the area give you reasonable portions. The single patty is no larger than one you'd get at McDonalds off of the dollar menu. My husband had the SmokeShack, which he really liked; he praised the flavor of the beef and bacon, as well as the bun. He didn't get the peppers or the sauce. I got the Publican sausage... which I could have just gotten at Publican. Hubs loved his black & white shake, even though they over-blended it. I got the S'mores frozen custard, but wasn't too impressed. It was tasty, but it wasn't particularly custardlike--more like a rich ice cream than a true custard. So, overpriced but edible.
