I had to check out the new boneless BBQ baby back rib sandwich and mac & cheese as soon as I heard about them. I usually leave Shake Shack pretty happy, but this time was a bit of a letdown overall. The highlight for me was definitely the mac & cheese--it was creamy, flavorful, and just really well done. The sandwich, though, didn't quite hit the mark. The sauce was tasty and the overall flavor was good, but the meat was a little dry. To be fair, I did order pickup and got there about 15 minutes after the promised time, so that might've affected it. The strawberry lemonade also missed for me--it had more of a bitter taste than I expected. I'll still be back, but I'll probably stick to my usual burger or chicken next time. I've been to Shake Shack many times, including the Scottsdale Fashion Square location, and the difference between that store and the San Tan Village location is honestly disappointing. Scottsdale has always been consistently delicious. Hot food, well assembled, and exactly what you expect from Shake Shack. The food is rarely piping hot, and the burgers and fries are always put together super messy, like they were rushed out with zero care. Was excited to experience this place when I saw they had a "limited time" truffle burger and parmesan garlic fries with truffle sauce offer. Obsessed with truffle anything, so this was a must try! This is a self ordering pick up process. Browse the digital menu and select from the items listed. You are able to add or remove ingredients as well, pick extras and add additional sauces etc. We ordered 4 truffle burgers & 4 parmesan garlic fries (to go). It was super busy the evening my husband went in. Due to that and having to place your own order, it was a longer wait process. The burgers were somewhat small for the price, a little greasy and couldn't really taste that truffle flavor with the combination of the Gruyère cheese. The fries were just average (not a real fan of crinkle). The side of dipping sauce is the same truffle spread on the burger & could make out more of the truffle blend with them. Best tasting thing on the burger was the crispy onions. The patty itself was extremely thin. Today was my first and last visit to Shake Shack. I've been looking forward to trying the food here, but everything from the service to the food leaves a lot to be desired. When we arrived there were only a few people ahead of us in line, the employee at the counter asked that we order on the kiosk saying that they were short staffed. No problem, we ordered on the kiosk selecting no cheese for both the burgers and also ordered fries and shakes to go. After 30 minutes of waiting and seeing around 30-40 more people standing around waiting for their orders, plus witnessing many people bringing back wrong orders and mixed up orders, we decided to request a refund not knowing how much longer it would take. They said our order would be ready shortly. After we eventually got our food home, the burgers both had cheese so the person I got it for couldn't eat it. The shakes were watery and the fries were good but small portions for the price. I was also concerned about the sanitation of the restaurant. One employee handling food with gloves on was also on their cell phone and the whipped cream was sitting out on the counter the whole time we were there.
