So disappointed! We've been coming to SharkBites for over a decade every autumn when we travel to the Coast. It always had good food, a funky, fun atmosphere and was a good value - until now. An accountant and not a chef is apparently now in charge. The waiters have been replaced by placing your order at the counter like a fast food joint. We both ordered the crab cake salad - for $23.95 each, we were surprised that the crab cake was about the size of a silver dollar. The salad greens were fresh but it was served in a paper lined metal basket and came with a lemon wedge, a container of sweet chili sauce and a container of (I think) tartar sauce. The accountant in charge must have deemed dishwashers too expensive. Italian dressing would have tasted so good but it obviously would have leaked through the holes my fork made in the paper lining. If we want to eat where a bean counter calls the shots, we'll go to McDonald's. We'll miss the old Shark Bites! read more

Very casual business. Was working in the area and went in for an early dinner. I'm from out of town and disappointed for a County that is only 52% vaccinated no one working here wore a mask. Information I read about the Resturant stated staff was masked. I ordered fish and chips and opted to make it a takeout order because as patrons came in no one wore a mask and absolutely no distance between anyone. The French fries were excellent very crisp! Menue are super gross. They should try mixing in some lamination and a wipe down. Even the table drink menus look filthy. I love fish tacos. but all were pretty much cod. (cheap fish). which is an ok option I suppose for a Rubios chain. Chedder cheese on bottom is a fail. try a mexican blend or cota cheese. cilantro lime dressing tasted like it came from a jar or a food distribution catalog. make something from scratch. baja fish tacos should have baja sauce IMHO. Its basic Ranch Mixed with Challula to taste and when its pink your close. thimble of black beans was pretty weak, taste like they are out of a catalog as well. salsa was decent. might be made here. back to cleanliness the salt n pepper shakers tops hadn't been wiped down in a while. Passing through Coos Bay last night and hungry for some clam chowder and seafood and this restaurant caught my attention. Glad we stopped as we were greeted with wonderful service and a very hometown feel to everything. Had a bowl of delicious creamy clam chowder and the grilled halibut tacos were delicious as were the onion rings and fried oysters, but next time will have to try the calamari. read more

Had to wait to order - 15 minutes- we were 2nd in line. Then had to wait to be seated- another 20 minutes. Then had to wait for our food- another 20 minutes. Then other tables seated after us were served first. My daughter ordered a chicken Caesar salad- the salad came and they said the chicken would be out in 5 minutes. 10 minutes later the chicken was brought out. Best meal we've had in years! We both ordered fish: mine was fish tacos and his was fish and onion rings. Their fry mix and technique is truly magical. We got our food to go and ate it in our hotel room. We ate the rest a couple of hours later, and everything was still perfectly crispy! (even tho mine was under cole slaw!) For dessert we had the chocolate chip brownies. They were so good we're still talking about them. Rich and fudgy brownies with dollops of chocolate chip cookie dough cooked on top! The cookie part got crisp, providing nice textural contrast, and the flavors were rich and comforting. We were kicking ourselves because we forgot to order a box full on our way out of town. This is a great local seafood house. Friendly people. Down to earth atmosphere. Fair prices. Great menu. We went here for dinner and enjoyed all the food and drinks. Dinner started with crab cakes and a couple of specialty cocktails. The drinks were enjoyable and creative. Crab cakes were fresh and tasty with a sweet and spicy sauce to dip. We were surprised by the sweet and spicy sauce but have noticed this accompaniment on a few other restaurants crab cake dishes. This sauce is very tasty but can overpower the crab cake. One entree we ordered was the Halibut and Chips. The batter was light and the fish was crazy fresh. The fish was light, flaky, and moist. Not overcooked at all. Excellently prepared. The chips were well seasoned and arrived hot on the plate. The second entree was Halibut tacos. Unfortunately this dish was our least favorite. The halibut was completely lost in the dish with all the components in it. The tortillas were dry. The tortilla chips arrived cold and unsalted. We came here around lunch after walking the bay a bit. First of all, I was glad that they had a bathroom since it seemed impossible to find one as a tourist. The food was good but I didn't feel like it was that amazing. I did enjoy the clam chowder even though the texture was mostly watery. The tacos weren't really worth it but the fish and chips were awesome. One thing I didn't like, is that the price was missing in the menu. I like to know what I'm paying for even if it's estimated. I did like the look of the restaurant as a whole, it had a modern feel but still had a hint of history to it. The place felt cozy but I probably would have enjoyed it better if I would have gotten a coffee drink. read more

The staff was super friendly, very laid back atmosphere and the food was to die for! We ordered the calamari to start off with, it was fresh, cooked perfectly and the breading was light and complemented the fish perfectly! Super friendly little place that we quickly hit for a lunch to go. Side note: not easy to eat in the car! The staff hooked us up with waters while we waited and were very thorough in packing us up with napkins, to go cutlery, etc. My daughter had the tomato soup and thought it was good - thought she had read that it was spicy and didn't think it had any spice at all, though. I had fish tacos - they were ok; the lime cilantro creme was not great and it was a basic cabbage slaw. My husband had chicken tacos and felt the same way. We were driving through Coos Bay last week and needed a good place to eat. So naturally, we turned to yelp and we were not disappointed. This is a simple restaurant with some good beers on tap and in the bottle. They also have a good selection of wines. The clam chowder was excellent. I like that they don't really use gluten/flour. First and foremost, I don't eat seafood. But I'd ask some people for recommendations of a GREAT fresh seafood place for when we traveled to Coos Bay. We needed great fresh seafood...and great non seafood for me. See, hubby LOVES seafood and rarely gets it. So I wanted to make him happy. Sharkbites did not disappoint. Hubby orderd the seafood platter but subbed out the oysters. I had the chicken tacos. The place seemed to specialize In seafood tacos so I hoped the chicken ones would be tasty. They were wonderful. Simple with cabbage, salsa and a lemon crema. Even though I was full I still craved a third. Thankfully I restrained. Hubby could not stop talking about the quality and perfection of how the seafood tasted. He LOVED the clams and said the halibut was amazing. He joked ... but not really ... by asking if we could go the following night. We will definitely go back the next time we come to Coos Bay. read more

We ordered the Clam Chowder which was delicious! Not as creamy/thick as typical chowder. Also ordered the fresh steamer clams. Very fresh and cooked well. Garlic, herb, and white wine sauce was strong but in a good way. Cool decor and atmosphere. Only negative we experienced was that the fresh local Charleston Rockfish listed as the daily special was not at the store. The deliverer, we were told, doesn't arrive with the fish til later in the evening (a regular occurrence apparently).....so why is it on the specials menu given at lunch time??... Disappointing. I and my friends came to shark bites after going to the sand dunes and were starving. We got seated pretty fast and our server was nice. The menu has a lot of variety for you to choose from and the drinks and food look good at first glance. When we were seated the server came and poured us all some water. And I'm not sure what they did to their water but it was disgusting no one at our table could drink it, it had a very strange taste to it tasted like old tap water. We also all had different experiences with our food. I had got the mex tacos it comes with chips salsa beans and rice I think but I substituted that for fries instead. When the food came it was arranged very nice on the plate. The fish tacos I got are "mesquite grilled cod" with diced cabbage on top with cilantro lime sauce. After taking a bite those were some of the blandest non-seasoned tacos I've ever had in my life there was literally no flavor to anything. The best part about that whole dish was the side of ranch I got and the two pieces of avocado. They also come with very little fish when you glance at them they look full and have a good weight to them when you pick them up. but it's mainly just chopped cabbage and it's so over barring. The fries that came with my meal were also just soo bland and burnt I didn't even bother touching them. On the bright side the restaurant is cute and decorated nicely and some of the drinks they have are delicious and so were the crab cakes!!! read more

Cute quaint cafe! The food is a little pricy. I got the southwestern cod tacos and the tacos it's self were amazing but I got like 8 chips and 1/8 cup of salsa for 18$. We were seated quickly. There water is lemon and lime fused no regular water. We were seated and didn't get our drinks till 5 minutes before our food came. And my husband ordered an and appetizer that NEVER came.
