Stopped in late on a sunday night as nothing else was open after being stuck in line for the return ferry. Bartender brought us menus and after a while figured if we were going to order, would have to go up to the bar. Got 2 pizza's and drinks. Live music while we were there so hard to have conversation. I would consider this a local dive bar atmosphere. Live music was more of a blues style and really great talent. The patrons seemed more of the 50+ variety and we went for the food and because we were just arriving on the island and needed food late at night after checking in. Our attire was leggings, tshirts and messy buns...we fit right in. Food was good though and the right size portions. Also the drink sizes and heavy handed pours were appreciated! read more

So this place has the best pizza in town. Limited menu but good god the pizza is perfect. Thank you chef. The service is terrible. Not because contract labor there doesn't try. They try real hard. I blame the owner. They don't have enough bar help to take care of the clientele. Its obvious. The regular bartenders work their asses off, but the others hired to suck. We have been here many times and we always like it. Our kids love to play pool and the pizza is really good. It can get way too loud when there is live music (I guess that is the point though) so sometimes we just order pizza and go next door to Devil and the Deep. A good local brewery. Our last visit wasnt the best. They ran out of basil and instead of letting us know, they made our pizza with spinach vs basil. We knew it immediately and asked the bartender about it. He agree that it didnt look like a margarita and asked the pizza guy. Pizza guy said it was a margharita and that is what they look like. We went back to our table and starred at it. After hours of working on the house, our family wanted to go out for pizza. We didn't want to go to a chain and we definitely wanted something unique and near the strand and sure enough, Yelp's search brought this place up. We decided to give it a try because the reviews on both Yelp and Google were 4/5. We walked in and there was a few folks at the bar, one lady with a dog but no one really at the restaurant. It was really rainy and cold, and you know Texans don't like either and avoid this combination all together, but we didn't want to cook and we made the trek there. After suiting for a bit, the owner came up and introduced himself and you could just tell that he was so passionate about this establishment. He gave us a grand tour, talked about the wall art, the location, the history of the place. He and talked about the establishment's initiation and how their brick oven was designed and brought in from Italy! He also mentioned that their food was made from scratch in house! How cool! We really liked this place and the pizza was just the cherry on top. We had 2 Big Fred's Pizza and they were delicious. I do have to say that there could have been more sauce in the pizza, but I did ask for it as a side, and it was great. And I guess I was hungry but the pizzas couldn't come fast enough, but when it did I was very satisfied! I will definitely be bringing my family here for some good pizza and walk are for sure. read more

Oh boy what a great Pizza!. Went to Sharky's and had one of their fantastic crispy crust pizza's made in the coolest oven on the island. 850 degrees makes the crust super thin, super crusty with just a hint of smoke, We had the Pete's that had sausage and jalapeno's. Bonus..the owners are wonderful people, I'm an oven geek and she showed me how it worked. I left a message for the owner yesterday at 12:21 pm. I asked twice for the name of the women who took the message but she wouldn't give it to me, instead she hung up the phone. Solid spot on the island. Decent beer selection and above average pizza. The one we had was a little heavy on the cheese but we fought through it. When we went the weather was decent and the doors were open. I imagine in the spring this would be a great place to sit outside and chill. Maybe they will do crawfish. We shall see. Excellent wood-fire pizza! Food: Very tasty and flavorful. They only come in one size which I'd say is about 16" pizza. Atmosphere: Make no mistake this is a bar with juke box or live music playing. They do have tables you can sit inside and eat but you order from the bartender (no waitress). So my suggestion would be for a family or someone who doesn't like a local dive bar feel get carry out. Positives: The atmosphere is pretty good and the beer is cold. We ordered the veggie pizza and it was better than expected. I would definitely go back and try a different pizza in the future. Negatives: My wife and I stood at the bar for several minutes hoping to order but instead had to endure a vacuous conversation between two employees. My wife actually had to interrupt them in order to spend money there. It wasn't a huge deal overall but quite honestly I would fire employees for that very thing. The pizzas are a bit pricey for the size but I can kind of understand given Sharky's proximity to the strand and all of the tourist traffic. All in all I look forward to my next visit. I certainly hope that the service from Sharky's staff will be better and that the pizza will be as good or better. So far, Sharky's pizza is the best pizza I have found on the island so far and I encourage anyone who reads this to try it. I ordered Togo and glad I did, it would not have been a place I could have taken my kids inside. The wait staff took awhile to acknowledge I was waiting to pick up my Togo order. They charge extra for take out orders and extra for using a credit card. The wood fire pizza was really good-service and ambiance not so much. But... Have you ever had an out of body experience due to joy? I have, once. At this particular establishment. The vibe is one of the best, like something out of a chill 80's movie. Maybe like Point Break or the volley ball scene from Top Gun. Which, let's be real, we can all appreciate that vibe. The bartender was a blonde girl named Chelsea. You'd be a fool not to have her as your bartender! Nicer than the number 69 and provided better service than the US government provides to themselves. Not only was the service stellar but she also looks out for the patrons and defends the vibe. While we were at the bar a gentleman with a half grown shady mustache became very rude with Chelsea, myself, and other guests. She shut that aggressive situation down faster than the Cowboys shut down the Giants this past September ensuring our safety and our good time. And the pizza.. fuhgetaboutit! This pizza was made by a Sicilian mob bosses personal chef. At least that's how it tasted. If you don't stop by this place to experience the greatness of Sharky's, you may as well give up on life. read more
