No communication at all after my engine was sent out. They had me send my engine to a Gee's in Houston, Tx at the end of May 2024. Its currently October 2024 and I still don't have my engine back. At this point I had to sale the car because I couldn't keep it at the shop, my subdivision doesn't allow none running cars, and I wasn't going to pay for storage not knowing anything. I understand Sharper Edge isn't the one doing the work on the engine, but they are the ones that had me to send it to this stop. Knowing this was supposed to only take 3 weeks. Not once have they reached out to me about what they are trying to do to get my engine back. Each time I have called Sharper Edge or Gee's, I kept earing 1 more week from Gee's and that started in August. Last week of August they stated it was another Audi engine they had ready, but mine will be ready next week and he would give me a discount since it's taken so long. Never heard back from them after that. At this point, I will never recommend that shop, nor someone send their engine to Sharper Edge. My remanufactured engine quit in under a year and 4400 miles after installation. The first hurdle is getting them to honor the warranty. Do not believe them if they tell you that you don't need the warranty paperwork, just call them if you have a problem. First thing is look under policies in their website and look at their draconian oil change requirements to which they recently added using Mobile 1! Caught that? Then how about the 3rd party warranty provider that went out of business? No previous mention of that. Get past that and now reality will set in: Fatemeh Koohi, aka Yalda is the owner. The business is a home business. The address is her home owned by her. There is no machine shop, no mechanic shop, nor inventory. They are a reseller of undisclosed 3rd party engines that they have drop shipped to you. "Their mechanic" does not work for them; he is a shade tree mechanic who does jobs for them. He is unreliable at best. Do not send them any engine parts other than what was originally delivered. Before I figured out what was going on, their mechanic asked for and I delivered all the external engine parts except the manifolds. What was finally delivered back to me was an engine with the crankshaft timing gear held in place by 2 nail shafts and 4 bolts missing from the valve train. Approximately $1600 in parts that were delivered to "their mechanic" were not returned; he lost them. Now try to get them to pay the 1 hour troubleshooting and 10 hours of labor provided for in the website policy section. The lost parts? Better get a lawyer! Finally get all the parts replaced and the engine reinstalled. It is defective! Notify Sharper Edge - no response. Finally figure out that the valves were improperly installed. The valves were so tight they would not close. About $1800 later finally got a properly running engine. Ah yes, what was that lawyers name? All I can say is I had zero issues with Sharper Edge - based on MY experience, I would recommend them to anyone and would do business with them again. My son's Kia Soul engine blew out. I was terrified and clueless about what to do. I googled and found Sharper Edge. I called and talked to Jack (maybe that was good luck?). He did not pressure me AT ALL (unlike other well-known places I called). He was very empathetic - I was totally stressed. I gave him my credit card and within minutes I had an emailed invoice. He was very responsive via email. Yalda was super helpful in tracking the shipment. Most importantly, the mechanics were impressed with the quality of the engine and most-most importantly - 3 months later the engine is running great. THANKS JACK AND YALDA!! read more

The main number on the website (which is smeared everywhere on the weird looking website that doesn't work) leads to a voicemail saying that the hours are 9-5 ( I called at 2;30PM) and doesn't even have an option for the FREE QUOTE which was smeared all over the main page. read more

Do not buy from these people. I bought an engine and a 3 year parts and labor warranty from them 16 months ago. The timing chain broke last week. They will not stand behind their warranty. Thet say it is the responsibility of the shop that built the engine to make good. Of course the shop that built the motor says it is all on Sharper Edge Engines to make good. read more

I was excited to find a reasonably priced replacement engine for my wife's LR4. They responded quickly and professionally and accepted payment. They said 5 weeks for the engine to ship. After 7 weeks the engine had still not shipped, they were slow to respond to emails and I had trouble talking to a live person. When I did talk to Yelda, she was very nice and sounded genuinely sorry about the delays. Ultimately my engine was over a month late, and I truly believe that it only finally got sent because I was calling them 1-2X per day. The engine got to the repair shop and was missing the "upgrade kit" that is recommended but costs extra. I called and was told that they always forget to send those, so sorry, etc. Promised it would be sent the next day overnight air. It was not sent and I emailed and called for a tracking number with no response. Called and email again with no response, and now they say that they "forgot" again and that it will be shipped out Monday (even though it is Friday at 9am) read more

Called to inquire about an engine for my Audi allroad. David the rep told me they had one, low mileage 45k and was priced at $5200 shipping included. I called back a couple days later to place the order. David took all of the information including the address of my mechanic where the engine was to be delivered and installed into the car. I provided our credit card number, and they ran the payment that went through. The next day I get an email asking for a photo of my ID which I sent. Another day goes by and I get another email saying that they can only ship the engine to the billing address of the credit card which is my residential address. This is the first time i hear that requirement as this was never disclosed when I placed the order and gave the delivery address as well as the billing addresses. I call back explaining that this is not possible as I have no way to unload the engine at the house, nor to store it and even less to transport it to my mechanic. David proceeded to tell me that his boss is not willing to ship the engine to any address other that the billing one as American Express my credit card company could take the money back if I were to claim that the engine was never delivered! Really! I asked again if they could make an exception or if not they would have to cancel the transaction. I sent him an email to recap the conversation and asking for an answer . Next day, no news. I call back and am told they won't ship the engine. At that point I asked them to cancel the transaction and to be sent a confirmation email. They never canceled the transaction nor bothered to reply to my email. I had to call Amex to dispute the charges. These guys wasted my time by not communicating properly, didn't reply to email,... not talking that meanwhile my car was still waiting for an engine that I could have sourced somewhere else instead of waiting for them to come up with all these excuses of why they can't ship an engine to a mechanic's shop ! Do yourself a favor and stay away from these clowns! read more

Do not do business with them! They are a bunch of criminals! I have never experienced such horrible customer service as I did with this company. I bought a remanufactured engine from them. Everything seemed fine at first. The engine was installed in my truck. The timing belt broke two weeks after it had been installed. I had to have it towed to my mechanic. It's now been six weeks and nothing has changed. Since we only have the one vehicle I've had to rent a car, which has cost me $1,500 to date. My mechanic is awesome and has tried to help any way he can. He has not asked for storage fees or for any other work he's done since the truck was towed over to his shop. Neither of us has been able to get anywhere with the people we've spoken to. I have been told that Jack is the owner, Dan claimed to be the owner, and Yalda who claims to be the owner and answered bad reviews in an attempt to make it seem the reviewer is wrong. I don't know who the actual owner is. I have talked to David, who sold me the engine, Scott, Bridgette, Dan, who is a horse's ass, and Yalda. David told me there would be no charge to ship the engine back and it would be picked up Tuesday, 2/24. It was not picked up. I called David who said I needed to talk to Dan or Bridgette as he couldn't do anything further to help. I spoke to Dan today and it did not go well. He hung up on me after feeding me a bunch of bullshit and kept talking over me. I want them to pick up the faulty engine, refund my money, and reimburse me for the rental car fees. None of that seems likely to happen without more help. I am looking into what I can do to make it happen. read more

DON'T DO IT! These guys are scam artists do not buy from them. I contacted David and he gave me a price for the engine and told me it had 72K miles on it. I paid him and had it sent to my mechanic. My mechanic is not a family member or a friend just a local mechanic trying to make some money. When he got the engine he looked at it and called me and said the engine show obvious signs of overheating, with anti-freeze in the cylinders and discoloration in the other cylinders. I tried to call David but no answer so I emailed him. He responded that 30 minutes before I emailed him his shipping department came to him and told him that they had shipped the wrong engine. I said "great, come pick up your engine and refund my money". He said if I would send him a picture of the engine still sitting on the crate would do that. So I sent him the picture and he received it. THEN the lies started. He came back and said his shipping department was wrong and that they had shipped me the right engine. I asked him to refund my money and pick up his engine. He asked for proof that the cylinders are as my mechanic said they are. My mechanic is losing money on this deal by not installing it and he has a crappy engine sitting in his shop now with my engine out of my vehicle. I sent the picture of the engine still on the crate and it is not my mechanics job to prove to David that he sent a bad engine. I have now asked three times to have him pick up his engine and refund my money, after all their Website DOES SAY 100% SATISFACTION GUARANTEE, WRONG!!!! Now David is ignoring me and my mechanic is stuck in the middle. I just want my money back and want them to pick up their engine. read more

Complete rip off. The guy that sits behind a computer and sources salvaged engines is apparently a master of all engines and knows Audi and VW engines in and out of them. Bought a $3000 engine called me back and told me that don't sell engines from AUTOPARTMAX.com (well that's where I bought the engine from) but they don't apparently sell from there anymore. Wanted to sell me an engine with over double the miles I originally purchased for $400 more I knew he was a jack ass when he started telling me what was wrong with these Audi engines and told me the reason the engine was more was because his "german engine specialist" in California puts a new timing chain in the engines. I don't want some hack going thru the engine I just bought. I just want a known running engine out of a car so I can put it in my car. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE GUYS!! Before doing business with them, I did my homework and saw that they an A+ rating with the BBB. Knowing this I felt comfortable moving forward. I spoke with sales rep Buck who assured of their 6 mo, no questions asked warranty if anything were to go wrong. I paid $1680 for an engine that I had delivered for my BMW. After paying $3000 to have it installed, the engine started to smoke like a chimney. When I called to complain, Buck told they would issue me a refund but I need to provide a picture of the heat tabs located on the engine block... There were no heat tabs. When I called back, I spoke to Jack the owner who said Buck is an idiot and had been fired. Jack (owner) was extremely unprofessional and dropped the F- bomb as though we were friends and I had known him for years. Long story short, they offered to replace the engine if I paid $3250. When I said the engine was warrantied, the owner yelled at me and told me not to call back. Needless to say I filed a complaint with the BBB and am seeking compensation through the courts.
