Amazing wedding venue Shasta View Lodge is an absolute gem of a wedding venue. We could not have asked for a more beautiful place to get married. Having the entire property to ourselves was fantastic. Angela, the general manager, was simply amazing! Great communication, fast response to every text. We can not recommend Shasta View Lodge enough. Mt Shasta as our backdrop to our ceremony was breathtaking.

A MUST MUST STAY PLACE! Great location. Beautiful Surroundings. Perfect view of Mt. Shasta. Quiet, peaceful, relaxing, close to everything. My family wanted to move here. Perfect weather and lake plus falls minutes away. Better pricing than hotels. Clean new rooms, comfy, and they have everything. Stores walking distance.

We had rooms 3 and 6. 6 is the two story family unit. Both rooms were wonderful! Air conditioning and ceiling fans (so necessary during our stay) worked very well. The beds were sooo comfortable! The manager, Jill (and her husband) were friendly and helpful and really made us feel welcome. Small refrigerator and microwave in the room with some plates and silverware. Lots of ammenities. The view from the back patio is gorgeous. It's too bad that the restaurant isn't open. The owner is selling this lodge. I hope someone buys it and reopens the restaurant because we would love to come back and I'm down for the whole package!

We stayed one night here and it was great. We will be staying here again for sure. Check in and out was a breeze! It has inspired McCloud to be a few favorite on our list.

Tasty food at reasonable prices and very nice staff - what more do you need? It gets busy on the weekends so come early to miss the crowd.

She offers a wide variety of choices accommodating to your dietary needs, while creating a flavorful and mouthwatering start to your day. And the rooms are delightful (and not under renovation), tastefully decorated, beds are comfy and the rooms are clean. My husband and I stayed there for one week and when the original room we booked was not big enough for us, Julie was most accommodating finding us another room that would suit our needs. The property is lovely and we were fortunate enough to experience a backyard concert by Hattie Craven on our last night there. It was a magical experience to sit outside with music in an enchanted forest as the setting. The owners, Julie & Dan were so helpful with any needs we had and so hospitable...felt like we stepped back in time when customer service really meant taking care of your customers every needs...we couldn't have asked for a more wonderful stay...and to top it off, it was my husband's birthday and when we got back from his birthday dinner, Julie had baked a homemade cake for us...how sweet is that! If we ever return, this is where we will stay. The personable service, friendliness of not only Julie & Dan, but any staff member was such a joy. If you really want an experience of a lifetime, this is the place to stay. PS - if you want the best homemade granola you'll ever taste, Julie's is the BEST!!! Don't leave without trying it:) PSS - the chipped paint never interfered in our stay:)

Steve, the owner is very friendly and accommodating. The town of McCloud was build by the McCloud Mill family for the loggers and sawmill workers who would come to work from spring through fall each year milling trees. Once that industry died out the town has survived through other means such as tourism. McCloud in particular is known for putting on some fantastic festivals through their active Chamber of Commerce and other organizations. Their annual Mushroom Festival brings in over 60,000 people from all over California, Oregon, Washington, and Nevada for the weekend. It offers a variety of Music, Food, Wine, a mushroom farmers market, a series of educational Mushroom classes by professional mycologists from all over the world. And a Crafters/Art market featuring unique, one of a kind and stunning works of art. At the base of Mt. Shasta, McCloud is 3.5 miles from the town of Mt. Shasta. McCloud Falls is 11 miles away, don't miss those. Medicine Lake is a sacred place nearby and also a good place to fish. Check out the McCloud Chamber of Commerce for updated events.

We've been going to railroad park resort since the 1990's and eating there every time we come through town - 2-3 times a year. They used to make a great steak, with a deep dark sauce with mashed potatoes and veggies. I recently ordered the steak - $58.00 - making it the most expensive entree in the area (including the high end places in Mccloud, etc) and it had no sear. was under cooked. Had no seasoning. No sauce. The potatoes were rubber and the veggies were gross. The pork chop was similarly under-cooked and had the same sides -so same feedback. I looked for a manager to talk to and couldn't find one. So I messaged them on facebook and they told me I could come by any time and talk to the cook. Where was the cook the night I was there? I was told there was no manager to talk to. I only eat their when vactioning and can't just pop in. I live 5 hours away. If they're going to raise their prices from $40 to $60 for a steak - they need to up their gave. Instead they dropped the ball. The food isn't worth it and they don't care.

The dining car was a special treat, the meal overall was very good but could have been better with a little attention to detail. The rigatoni pasta dish was absolutely perfect , popping with flavor and as good as any I've ever had. We ordered a couple glasses of pinot noir with our dinner and when they arrived they were noticeably warm like 80-85 degrees like they had been roasting in the sun , not a pleasant room temp like they should be. We also ordered a large caesar salad that we all split and the lettuce was warm like it was sitting in a window soaking up the sun, plate was not chilled and even if it was it couldn't have cooled down hot lettuce, salad was light on dressing , the halved petite romaine was very bitter, i've purchased this lettuce at costco a couple times and stopped buying it because the petit romaine tends to be very bitter, i love the consistency of the smaller denser heads of lettuce but the bitterness is unpleasant .....hopefully the chef is tasting his food and can see what he thinks. My wife ordered the pasta with shrimp and loved it! My dad had the rib eye and said it was pretty good but maybe not 57$ good. The pasta dishes were 10/10 amazing , reasonably priced and generous in size , the warm wine and salad is an easy fix, it was a nice treat after a week of camping and cooking to not have to , so highly recommend giving them a try for dinner during your stay!! Mountain scenery was incredible from the campground!! The pool was a little crowded at times but we enjoyed a couple hours of pool time both days. The host in the campground Frank and his dog Reno were great !! We really enjoyed our visit and wouldn't hesitate to stop in again, a lovely place to spend a couple days !!! Thank you!!!Cheers !!

Seriously, this small LG unit is quiet and effective! The two queen beds were perfect. We pushed them together to make a giant family bed for our two enormous beasts. Don't worry, we are seasoned travelers and brought king sheets to put on top for the dogs. The mattresses are memory foam! We love them as we have a tempurpedic at home. The train is far enough in the distant from this room that it's quite pleasant to hear the sound across the river. Make your coffee and stroll over to view Mount Shasta from the benches provided in the morning, but the really photo op is just after sunset when the mountain glows. Note, the pine tree sap will drip on your vehicle if you park in the designated spot for room 10. If you back in, it gets on the windshield. Nose first, not so much. We travel with windex and microfiber cloth, so we were prepared. What's nice is all the options for a stay at this resort. If you want a cabin with a hot tub it's available, or an Airstream, the have rows of them. It's a nice walk down to the botanical gardens and the river. This would be an ideal location for a group event. Many folks recommended coming back in the Fall, so hope to return again.

The room was first floor near the stairs and smoking area outside, but that was not a problem at all. The room was clean, towels and bedding were clean and crisp. I liked the welcome note on the bed. That was really sweet of them! The room had a microwave and small fridge w/freezer. There was a small office desk with coffee and ice. Tv, a/c, heater unit. Two things to note: 1. If you use 3 ports to charge at the clock on the nightstand, it uses too much power and one of the electronics needs to be unplugged. There are wall outlets, so you'd need to use those. 2. We didn't have a shower curtain when we arrived. I thought it was one of those modern places where it's just open, but we definitely needed a shower curtain. I felt so bad showering and getting everything wet in the bathroom. Housekeeping was kind to answer quickly and gave us towels to clean up. The fan in the bathroom isn't that effective. I suspect they'll have a mold problem in the future. The light switch to the bathroom is on the outside, which I thought was odd. Other than that, we had a pleasant one night stay. We would stay here again!

The location has potential, but our stay was highly disappointing…read more First and foremost, the checkout policy requires guests to wash all dishes prior to checking out. This is a major sanitation concern. IF the property thoroughly cleans and sanitizes the kitchenware between stays, this chore is an unnecessary burden on paying guests. If they do not reclean them, then the health and safety of incoming guests relies entirely on the honor system and the cleaning habits of previous occupants. It is incredibly unsettling to think the dishes we used may not have been professionally washed or sanitized. The cabin itself clearly got a "landlord special" French doors were stuck and wouldnt open. Had to call maintenance to get them fixed. The refrigerator and cabinet drawers overlap so tightly that opening the fridge makes the drawers to open, and vice versa. The fridge door is already dented, clearly from this problem. The blinds are old, broken, and don't close all the way. So we had to wake up with the sun every morning, spiderwebs in the ceiling corners throughout the cabin. For the price charged to stay here, guests should at least be guaranteed professional cleanliness. Unfortunately, this property missed the mark on all counts.

The wedding was hosted across the street at the golf course and my suggestion to the person who organizes both of these venues. I think you should offer golf cart transportation between the resort and the golf course. That would prevent a lot of people from taking the chance and driving that short distance while intoxicated. I noticed this first hand on several of our party goers. We had a beautiful cabin that was not on the lake, but close enough to appreciate the beauty of the surroundings. I see a lot of reviews had a problem with cleanliness and honestly, we did walk in to a musty smelling cabin and dead, flying things all in the bathroom, but after doing a black light inspection of the mattress, I was reasonably assured that bedbugs would not be an issue. To me that's a big one. I highly recommend this location if you're planning a wedding at the golf course.
