I have been coming to this spot for shaved ice for a few years now when it was known as Hang Loose…read moreand I'm really sad to say they've made a lot of changes that are NOT for the better. The good news is, there's still shaved ice on the menu and many more menu options. The bad news is everything else. What once was a cozy and cute shaved ice store with lots of natural light and relaxed energy is now a cold, run of the mill modern coffee/boba shop with none of the charm of its previous storefront. In fact, they've managed to make the space feel even more cramped than before and you really notice it when a few parties come in. They have yet to update any of their old business information (from an online search it appears as if Hang Loose is still in business), but the store now goes by Aviator and their menu includes coffee, boba, and really overpriced lemonade (around $11 for a flavored lemonade). I'm not sure what inspired this change, but at the least the business could try and keep things consistent by updating their web pages. To make things worse there wasn't a clear sign on the storefront when we visited so it's very confusing even trying to find this spot to begin with. The upside of all this is that the shaved ice has remained on the menu and still is reasonably priced for the portion you get. They have all the same syrup flavors from before, as well as toppings (sour spray and Li Hing powder). That has not changed from before and the shaved ice is as tasty as ever. I did not try their coffee or any of the other menu items during my visit, but I'm not particularly opposed. While some of it looks good, there are some menu items that seem very overpriced and if anything the real negative of this shop just comes from the experience. You order on a tablet, the service isn't particularly spectacular or friendly. They hand you your items without utensils and don't make an effort to even tell you where the utensils are. They ended up being by the front door but since 2 other parties came in after we ordered, the view of them was blocked and they were difficult to reach in the tight space. I'm not sure what they could do to breathe some life back into this business, but the energy of the spot is less welcoming and less comfortable overall. I'm sure their new menu items might be really good, but I'm not running to come back there unless I'm really craving some shaved ice. If I want coffee or boba I know spots that are WAY more comfortable. I'm hoping they can make steps to improve their business as they go down this new direction.

Both dishes were packed with flavor, and the katsu was perfectly crispy while staying juicy inside. The noodles were cooked well, and the sauces were rich and satisfying without being overwhelming. If you're looking for tasty comfort food with generous portions and good service, this spot is worth checking out.

I always wanted to try boba, and this place set the bar so high. My go-to order is the coffee milk tea with boba (a perfect combo of coffee and milk tea), and it's genuinely one of the most delicious things I've ever tasted in my entire existence. I also love their Thai tea--that gorgeous fluorescent orange color that looks unreal, but is actually all natural from plant leaves. So good, so smooth, and completely addictive. And don't even get me started on the desserts. Their ube bread pudding tastes like chocolate cake and comes with ube ice cream. I later found out ube comes from a root vegetable, which somehow makes this mind-blowingly delicious dessert feel almost healthy... my mind is still blown. The menu is massive with hundreds of items, and I honestly want to try everything. On top of the incredible food and drinks, the employees are so kind, friendly, and welcoming. You can tell it's family-owned and operated, and that they put so much pride, love, and care into everything they make. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing with TVs, tables, and a vibe that just makes you feel happy to be there. Bonus points for being pet-friendly--my dogs love coming here because they always get little cups of whipped cream, which they might love even more than I love the boba. Café 86 is a total must-visit. I'll be back again and again.

It was a nice little spot to escape the heat, for sure. They have a little claw machine that you can use a card with by scanning a QR code but when I tried it, it didn't work but still took my money, thankfully the owner refunded me. We definitely will come back and hopefully, I'll be able to try something!

Even when we're still in line, the staff already let us know where to sit. I really appreciated the warm gesture and attentiveness of all the servers for sure!! It's a huge space that gave more industrial vibe to me than traditional Taiwanese theme, but it's totally a very convenient dining spot for both small and big group. We tried some from the menu and were pleased by all of them. They might look small but very filling actually since all the bowls were filled to top. The Dan Dan noodles have flavorful peanut sauce with it perfect noodles texture. Would recommend add extra sides for proteins, which we opted for pork belly and minced pork. The belly was extremely tender with thick juicy slices. The minced pork was equally palatable. They're generous in portion for being sides, we even packed some home. We obviously didn't skip their Hakka Mochi for dessert, which were still warm chewy yet moist when served and covered in overflowing black sesame and peanut powder. I wasn't usually a fan of black sesame but decided to give this one a try anyway and ending up no regrets at all! The powder was such spoiling mix of sweet and salty in one bite.
