This is a great, casual shawarma place in the Totem Lake area of Kirkland. We came here for lunch on a Saturday, and the shopping area where Shawarmaniac is located was packed as there is a neighboring sports bar where several people were watching the Huskies game. Since the parking lot is small some customers who came inside to Shawarmaniac, to pick up their to-go orders even asked the staff here about why the lot was so packed. The menu offers different combinations such as shawarma and fries, bowls, salads, and plates with rice and salad. After we asked the staff about portion sizes they mentioned that with the plate, it was twice as much meat versus if you get a bowl, and showed us the plate it's served on, which indeed was a large portion. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma Plate, which came with rice, a side salad, garlic paste, hummus, pita and a cup of lentil soup. It didn't take long for us to get our food, which the staff delivers to you at your table if you're dining in. The Chicken Shawarma Plate was yummy! It was definitely a large portion, especially with the amount of meat. I also liked that they have a hot sauce that they top the meat with, which had a good kick/heat to it. The garlic paste was of course, yummy, especially when you would smear some on the meat and rice. And the hummus was good, but wished that the texture hadn't been so soft, since it came off slightly on the liquid-y side versus a smear/dip. The pita was heated and wrapped in a tin foil. I wasn't able to finish my lunch in one sitting, but it was especially convenient that the plates came in a foil container, making it easy to re-heat for later on. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and as we ate they would ask how we're doing and if the food was to our liking as they would make other food orders or answer phone calls. Originally, I wanted to rate Shawarmaniac 3 stars, but because of customer service, Ill give it a 4. I went in around dinner time with my husband today(Friday) and ordered a beef wrap, lamb wrap, and lastly the garlic fries. Not only did it take awhile for our food to come out, our order came out completely wrong. Our wraps had no rice when we asked for rice, the lamb wrap had beef instead of lamb. Also, the garlic fries were served far after our wraps were out. So by the time we got to the fries, we were already pretty full. The garlic fries were different than any places I've been to. Not necessarily in a bad way or anything. As you can see in my photos, it almost looks like yogurt. I expected little bits of garlic pieces instead. I recommend asking for the garlic sauce on the side as dip than on top. Besides my complaints on how my orders were completely wrong, I do want to give compliments to the gentleman who might have been the manager made sure at the end, my order was served correctly. He apologized before I even commented about how my rice was missing and asked to remake it for me. I said it was fine and I can just have the rice on the side instead. He also apologized and remade my husbands lamb wrap and made sure it was lamb this time and not beef. Overall, I love their wraps and I highly recommend getting it more than the bowls or their plates. The portions are huge and its more of a burrito than a wrap. BAD food! Wifey and I are trying all the Eastside-of-Seattle Mediterranean joints, we're fans of Mediterranean Kitchen (1 mile away) and Padria (2 miles away). Unfortunately Shawarmaniac was awful. We ordered take out, a chicken bowl, a kafta bowl, and the fried cauliflower/eggplant app. BRUTAL. They use foil containers, so you have to take the food out of the containers to warm it up in the microwave, which is a PITA for rice-based entrees. The fried cauliflower/eggplant was terrible. Dripping with grease, overfried in old, smelly oil, soggy, tasteless, upset-stomach-run-to-the-bathroom awful. Crispy? Nope. Also bad was the watery, tasteless tahini dip. Yuk! The chicken was hard and tasteless. The hummus had zero flavor. The garlic sauce tasted like mayo - where's the garlic??? The rice was undercooked, no seasoning, a total waste. Can these guys cook anything well? The ONE thing that was decent was the kafta. Well spiced, not overcooked. The portion sizes are decent, even if most of the food was inedible. More leftovers to feed to my birds. This was hands-down the worst ME food I've had in decades. Don't eat here if you like good Middle Eastern food! read more

Large portions!! I highly recommend the lamb bowl. It is honestly enough food for two people to share and if that's not enough, the plate portions are supposedly even larger... I loved that they gave hummus along with the sauces and plenty of vegetables as well! Simply said , I just love their shwarmas, but sadly I think they are so much better whenever I have encountered the owner at the shop , when he isn't there the quality goes a bit downhill somehow! Like the bread used for the wrap , it is really nice when it is lightly toasted on the griddle but when it isn't then it gets extremely chewy and hard to eat ! So I would urge the owner to train the chefs better so that in his absence things still taste as good !! Otherwise their meat and sides to go with it are all fresh and have a homemade taste to them ! Today was pretty disappointing The chicken didn't have as much flavor as usual. The vegetable chunks (I'm looking at you onion) were so large it was hard to eat. I don't know much about lebanese food but the chicken plate was great. Good portion size with a side of hummus, garlic sauce and your choice of pita or soup. A solid amount of food that can easily be two meals. The staff is very courteous and friendly as well. With 4 stars and great word of mouth we thought it was a good choice. nope! I used their online ordering system to order 2 all in platters with extra garlic sauce and no cucumbers. My husband picked up the order and came home with 2 all in salads with cucumber. When I called them to tell them the order was wrong I was told I ordered wrong. No apology given and the woman on the phone let out a large sigh to indicate I was bothering her. Not very professional. The salad wasn't bad but it wasn't what we ordered and was FULL of water. The lady at the entry door started shouting at me because I closed the door. It was cold outside I don't think closing the door was that big a deal. I love Shawarma so I knew I had to try this place because of the name. I ordered take out of my favorite item (w/ chicken) as well as a falafel salad and garlic fries for my partner. So I normally check my pick up for inaccuracies in items but in this case the chef and register person were both there and checked for me saying each item and looking in themselves. It was a quiet night too and I gave them 45 minutes to make it since I live a ways away so I figured I was good. So imagine my disappointment when I got home and found their namesake item wasn't complete. There was no rice (?!), no hummus, no garlic, no dolma with parsley with my shawarma. Just dressed chicken and some veggies. My wife's food was all correct so I guess I could have scraped the garlic from her fries on my shawarma! (Lol) To be fair to them with the rice, it should be below the chicken (per picture) so this would not be easy to see. Still pretty silly to miss since it is Shawarma from Shawarmaniac! They wouldn't answer the phone but thankfully the app I ordered on said they'd refund the money (still waiting on this). The food was ok; there is better shawarma in my city. I won't be going back.
