I don't appreciate the 20% added to the bill. I had read about this in the Long Beach area. I tip based on service, and do not short the servers. Won't be back. Overall, not a bad place. I bit over-priced, decent service. Choose the dining room instead of pub. Limited menu, but the quality was good. Pros and cons, average. Limited options during the off season; would have preferred Thai, but they were closed. read more

We just went to the shelburbe inn, what an amazing place! The atmosphere was a step back in time, in a good way, the food was amazing! Your served by the owner and the whole experience was perfect! I had the wedge salad and the crab ravioli was so delicious and my husband had the burger! The wine selection was amazing as well! We will be back next time we are in town read more

I wife and I had dinner there. The atmosphere was up scale. Lots of old woodwork. I had sirloin steak with the spinach pear salad. The steak was tough. I had a hard time cutting it with a knife. My wife had the ravioli with Crab and she thought it was great. Food was overpriced. We got out of there at $108. Would not go again. read more

We found this jem of a pub on a business trip. after reading the mixed reviews we decided to try it anyway and it was a chance that we will take every time we come to the coast. the pub staff are very friendly, the menu is fresh and tasty and the atmosphere is just what you need after a busy work day: dim lights, nice music and a great cocktail. OH! and the comment about the living wage is inaccurate. it's posted on their website as well as their menus and on the bottom of their receipt. For what the town of Long Beach has to offer overall, I give the Shelburne Pub a five. Try the Mary's Fried chicken on EVERYTHING. IT ROCKS!! read more

Service was good, and our waitress was nice. The food was promptly served. The coffee was drinkable. But I wouldn't pay $5 for the $14 cheese burger I had. The brioche bun was cold, slightly dry, crumbly and too thick. The modest meat patty was flavorless, as was the cheese. The home made ketchup was runny and uninspiring. I say all this as a person who has had spectacular burgers at a fraction of the cost. I'm not a snob, but if I'm paying $14 for a cheeseburger, I expect to receive something decent, and I've had a slew of mouth-watering $8 cheeseburgers at a bunch of restaurants. This one was just an expensive mistake. I finished it, but I was starving and it was a chore. My wife had the onion soup, and described the broth as "an even proportion of broth and oil," her cauliflower was oily, too. The atmosphere was nice, but the pop-country music crooning about mud and dogs and trucks in an English styled pub that serves $14 dollar cheeseburger left me wondering who the hell their customer base was. If they serve locals, they really ought to bring their prices back down to earth and sell people shitty, $7 cheeseburgers like any honest local dive. If they intend to fleece the city folk that come through on vacation, they might want to work on figuring out their menu. read more

We stopped in when tooling around the area during the 4th of July week. Sadly, I was underwhelmed. While it was a late lunch (around 2 pm), the pub was woefully understaffed. One guy seemed to be doing everything and had a lot to juggle with 3-4 parties. One of the parties were the know-it-all wannbe locals who were offering menu suggestions to everyone who came in - suggestions no one asked for. Our food (burgers) was OK. I doubt that I would ever return. Not horrible, not good either. read more

This place is awesome! Went here for my bf's birthday. They have three different rooms to sit at, very socially distanced. We went on a Monday and no one was in the room we were eating at. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful with the menu. We pretty much shared a few things off the "small plates" menu and got a couple cocktails. Everything was delicious!!! And we felt very safe going there during covid. We haven't been going in to places but we wanted to try for his bday. read more

I would actually give it 3.80 stars. First - the upside - Thursday nights bartender was Dan. He was terrific! Professional and friendly - the ideal mix. He created some amazing handcrafted cocktails and was very welcoming. As for the pub menu, there is something for everyone. We tried the grilled asparagus appetizer (nicely charred and still had a bit of crunch - perfectly done) and one of their house pizzas. The pizzas are thin crust, lightly charred, perfectly sauced, light on the cheese and had the house-made chorizo (a little heavy on the cumin but otherwise had a good kick to it). Second - the downside - the Shelburne's website advertises a happy hour and we found out the owner has decided against it. While we were there, they lost a number of customers. This is a dangerous error especially in a tourist town. Hopefully, the owner will see this when bar profits suffer and rectify the situation. The pub is tiny yet very welcoming. We will definitely be returning. read more

While the service is a bit awkward, the food is divine. Try the fries with anything. Fish and chips were excellent, and the steak and fried very good. A charming atmosphere and stunning garden. I do recommend this restaurant for any occassion. The mussel chowder is the best soup I have ever had. read more

An evening of deeply contrasting experiences at the Pub, Can't speak for the restaurant, where we had a great dining experience 10 years ago. We popped into the pub around 6pm with my wife and daughter during an extremely busy Kite Festival Weekend (which we hadn't planned for), so we figured it would be really tough finding a place for dinner and were surprised when we found them to have several openings. The pub itself is mostly suited for 2 folks at a table, so the 3 of us were ushered to an adjoining section separate from the pub, in between pub and the fine dining area. Which got to the first stark contrast. It was a nice area of well appointed, neat tables in an otherwise hushed, warm, intimate seating, but 15 feet away from us, a bunch of nice, earnest guys in their 60s were playing "hits from the 60s" on acoustic guitars in the lobby area next to us. Don't get me wrong. I will be 60 next year, but it was just.......odd in this otherwise intimate dining spot to have guys playing and singing (I kid you not) "Margaritaville" as we attempted to order while keeping a straight face. It was just a bit much. But that is me and Margaritaville, I guess. And Knockin on Heaven's Door and on an on. It just felt inappropriate to the venue, I guess. Orders were taken by a very sweet, but noticeably slightly green server, who described the special, Pesto pasta with mussels and oyster mushrooms with little elaboration. But in fairness, her service was very prompt and friendly the entire seating. Sold. Now in fairness, my wife and daughters's orders of Salmon burger and Spinach salad seemed attractive and good, I sampled the salad and it was really tasty, with a smoky bacon tone to it. And their signature chowders are great. My cup of chanterelle chowder was rich and full of that signature wild mushroom flavor. Kudos. It's generally a great looking menu and they pulled off everything except... ...my dish, which was a train wreck. . 6 sad mussels on an utterly overcooked, over-sauced and poorly presented plate. It truly was glop, like something my untrained hands would make. Worse yet, of the 6 sad mussels, (of which there are an abundance of on In Washington and Oregon) 3 of the mussels were those frozen mussels imported from New Zealand. The sauce was just a mess of overcooked noodles and one could never detect a trace of basil, garlic or SALT. I can handle a disappointing meal, but charging $20 for it was most disappointing. I am not a serial whiner and pisser and moaner, but it was the closest I have ever come to asking the server to take the dish back. Bland, sloppy, overpriced and an insult to fresh shellfish, who deserve better treatment. In a harsh light, this place could almost use a douchebag like Gordon Ramsey to come in and shake the foundation down a bit for a place that seems conflicted on what sort of establishment it is. It's a very, very quiet B&B style hotel in one corner, a formal dining room in a another, a middle dining room and then a pub and yes, an earnest group of musicians swatting out the hits in the middle of it all.......while a beautiful grand piano sat silent. I watched two sets of diners come in, not be greeted, peek in the pub, peek in the B&B entrance, and peek in the dining area where the hits just kept on coming. Both parties walked out with puzzled looks on their faces. I am sorry for the harsh assessment, but I visit the area often and always hope this place keeps going, as they have a great setting, but they appear confused in what they want to be. In the midst of that, Long Beach Peninsula has gradually grown some fine dining spots in the Depot, Pickled Fish, even solid mid-range options in 42nd St Bistro, Lost Roo, Castaways, etc, so it just feels like the Shelbourne is struggling to find their mojo when they can least afford to. That could only explain why they were far less than full on a Saturday night when every other place in town was packed. Do they want to be a fine dining spot as they have traditionally been? Or open to a less formal dining experience? Or a live music venue? I am confused. I wish them the best. As I said, the menu is creative and in many cases, very, very good, but my meal was likely the most disappointing dish I have ordered all year. read more

Just finished lunch at the newly renovated pub. The food was amazing. The rich, historic interior was a wonderful environment to enjoy the amazing food. We had the fried oysters and the jambalaya. The jambalaya was amazing with just the right balance or seafood and spice. The service was great and the small space felt like you were at a bed and breakfast service. We will look forward to visiting the restaurant at some point. So glad the see that the new proprietors have taken such great effort to bring this gem back to life. read more

This is not my first rodeo with Shelburne Restaurant & Pub. Before I stopped drinking liquor, it was a favorite spot in summer to enjoy a glass out back on their gorgeous patio off the pub. This time, it was breakfast - now open to the general public - and I ventured out on my 57th birthday. The ambiance in this gorgeous place is so calm and soothing. There was another couple, and we started talking and joking together. It's that kind of a place, where you are suddenly friends with strangers, all the while picking over their fine menu of breakfast offerings. I had the mushroom omelet, made in the traditional style, with a deep sauce napping the firm, fresh mushrooms, that actually had taste! Some of the ones you get in the store have no flavor, but I definitely knew I was having delicate, but delectable, mushrooms. The potatoes were done and delicious, crispy edges and soft inside. Fruit came with, and enjoyed the grapes, the orange and the melon. Coffee is outstanding! I forgot to ask David (owner David Campiche) where he gets his coffee. I felt like a queen there - they pampered me so! I was incredibly lucky to have chosen this place for my birthday breakfast. Husband loved his Benedict, with a biscuit and a mushroom cream sauce, perfectly cooked eggs and meat (can't remember what meat he had). He raved!!!! I'll definitely be back. I work locally and we love all the restaurants in town, but this one is just a nick above the rest, in my humble opinion. Probably more than a nick. read more

The Shelburne is beautiful, historic and has offered great food from great chiefs for a long time. It has survived challenges, but expectations continue. Second time we've tried the guest chief Monday Ramen night since the Adrift folks took over the Shelburne. 1st time the ramen was superb, handcrafted and local mushroom focused. Balanced flavors. Spendy, but worth it. This time the saltiness and chili heat overwhelmed the individual ingredients and spoiled the bowl. Tonkotsu broth: rich and deep Noodles: great "hagotai" (tooth feel)! Soft boiled egg was right, but lacked marination. Marinated steak strips: delicious House made kimchi: crisp, salty, spicy Everyone around us were hitting the Sriracha heavy, which is an indication of the tastes the chief is dealing with. If you love ramen it's a disappointment. It is also $$$ Their pub burger is still the best on the peninsula. read more

The Shelburne Pub has had better days. I've been here several times and counted on it for reliably good food, service and ambiance. At least the service and ambiance have survived intact during this pandemic. Eating outside in their garden is a rustic treat, and the servers are gracious, timely and attentive, all while observing masking protocols. Three of our group had the fish & chips, which seems to have undergone a recipe change, with the fish batter considerably doughier than the past. My cauliflower tempura had four tasty florets in a delicious pool of green goddess dressing, but a meagerly portion for $8. The greens with candied pecans and shallot confit had no evidence of the shallots (which is what drew me to the dish) and maybe a teaspoon of finely chopped pecans. It was basically a handful of greens for $9. I really want this restaurant to succeed; we need good dining establishments on the peninsula. So I hope this review will spur some consideration. read more

I wish I could give it 1.5 stars. For the price and all the hoo-haw around this place? Why? Both my husband and I had a veggie sandwich with a simple green salad. The sandwich was smothered in mayo (they claim it is a pesto aioli - but it was a standard plain mayo), was only partially grilled, and the greens were drenched in their vinaigrette. We actually like the flavor of greens - please don't drown them. The guitarist they had playing was obnoxious. The service was lackluster. Really ridiculous prices for the quality of food. I thought that this place would offer the best meal on the coast for us but it was actually the worst that we experienced during our 3-day stay. read more

The whole place is just lovely and the ambiance is great. The building is old and the windows are beautiful. It created a great atmosphere. The prices are a bit high but they are a fancier restaurant. We ate in the pub side for dinner. The special was 3 albacore tacos, which my husband ordered. My husband and I agree, they were a little dry and needed a bit more flavor. Crab Ravioli was a bit on the fishy side of flavor, even for crab, which can mean a bit older meat. It was good but a little bland in flavor too. Not sure what it needed exactly but it felt like it was missing something. We also ordered the Poutine and that was just amazingly perfect. Our server was amazing and very knowledgeable as far as the dishes went and what drinks to suggest. Their breakfast was pretty good though. I ordered the omelette and it was the best omelette I've ever had (sorry, honey, Shelburne's is better than yours!). My husband ordered the French toast and he said it was pretty good. The fruit was pretty well set up. The coffee was strong. The service was prompt and done with a smile. My one complaint is not enough butter on my toast and no option to butter my own toast. Overall, we think they were trying too hard to be more five star restaurant in a tiny town and could try to be a little more home comforts. read more

The server and hostess were nice but the server couldnt quite get our order right..twice. Ordered from the pub menu but he came out with a restaurant meal..so it was double the price. Steak wasnt cooked as asked and was a little salty for my taste. I also asked for an ice cream with a blondie but just recieved a vanilla ice cream.. thumbs down for the service but the food wasnt all that bad. I have to give it up for the burger and fries! Overall fabulous experience. Food, service, decor all above what we expected. Inside is sort of old school British pub decor with a funky art deco vibe. It works. Fondu was great with warm bread. Cobb salad with options to add protein was delicious. Oysters and fried chicken was what we chose. Plenty for us to spilt between two. Cuban Sammie had tons of meat and was nicely toasted. Good beer selection and friendly server who shared some of the history with us. Hotel rooms upstairs might be worth another trip we would have paid the 20% living wage tip no matter what. It was worth it. I think we even paid a bit more. Not a cheap meal but worth the money. The booze always makes it spendy. Agsin, worth it. read more

Fabulous restaurant. We found the pub on our second trip out to Long Beach and we're only sorry we didn't get to visit them the first time around. The staff is super attentive and friendly and the bartenders make GREAT drinks. I was impressed with the diversity of their menu- after trying an array of appetizers and mains, we realized you can't really order anything not delicious from the Shelburne. We ended up eating there two nights in a row- with a beautiful backyard deck where we could have our dog with us for the meal, we were 100% sold. We will for sure be back. read more

Seriously good chowder! The curry base is addictive and a must have. Oysters are great but who doesn't like a good bake? Fish n Chips were worth the visit. Cod is fresh n good crunch, don't bother with the tarter sauce it's not needed. Great find for cozy meal. read more

My fiance and I came here for brunch 4th of July morning and was impressed with not only the quality of food, but the quantity as well! I always order eggs benedict when I go out to eat for brunch, so of course I ordered the eggs benedict here. AWESOME! They give you plenty of hollandaise sauce over the eggs, whereas many places I go to leave a small amount of sauce. Something small that they also provided with the dish was some fruit. Some people may not care, but I personally LOVE fruit and thought that was a wonderful addition to a satisfied dish. I look forward to coming here again the next time we're in Long Beach! read more

I just have to give this place 5 stars because the service, while not exactly impeccable, is pretty darn good, but the food is out of this world and there is no 4-1/2, so didn't want to short-change them. Tonight (October 13th), I'm having the French Onion soup, aka "Five Onion soup Au Gratin" and the "pan fried Willapa Bay Oysters. The soup arrived *extremely* hot, which is as it should be. The bowl was also situated on a ring of raw onion (see photo). The purpose is twofold: 1) aroma (nailed it!) & 2) so the aforementioned extremely hot bowl doesn't crack the not-so-hot plate. Makes sense to me! The oysters arrived on a bed of greens (spinach and a reddish lettuce) with the white-skinned "new" (fingerling) potatoes, a few slices of carrots, and grilled cauliflower (not my favorite veggie, but, oh well), a lemon wedge, and of course, tartar sauce. The oysters were delicately tender and not a whit of sand, either. Brent had the ciopinno, one of his favorite dishes. He thought it was good, but didn't much care for the green and Kalamata olives in the dish (he's not all that crazy about those kinds of olives...) Ger, short for Gerald, was our server and explained that the seafood ingredients changed slightly according to what was in season at the particular time of year you happen to come in. If you like ciopinno, you should like theirs. read more

My Husband and I were so disappointed this visit. We've lived on the peninsula for about 8 years now, and have enjoyed the Shelburne Pub on a few occasions. Every time was fantastic! Service, meal, drinks etc... However this time wasn't good. When we first came in we weren't greeted or shown to a seat. We had 5pm reservations. After a few minutes of awkward unsureness we were told to just find a seat. After we sat, the inn's desk keeper saw we had been waiting for a bit more and brought us menus. Bit more later and our server also showed up with menus. We order a couple of drinks. They were NOT good. The citrus level and alcohol level over came any other taste but that. We ordered a Tempura Asparagus for a starter. And Ordered 2 of the Painted Hills new York Steak meals. We assumed they were busy with take out orders and would be a bit of a wait. 35 min later we received all the food. Including the starter. Both steaks had nice flavor but the cuts were so poor that I left a 1/4 of the meat/fat/gristle on my plate. It was served with a large amount of Fries. When we asked for a side of Ranch, we were told, they don't do that because its an all organic menu. *confused after that comment* After we finished our meal we got the check and both our meals were $3 dollars more pre-plate then what was listed on the menu. And then the icing on the cake was the lovely 18% living wage charge the management has chosen to charge its patrons, due to the minimum wage increase. We will try once more this summer. Hoping for a better turn out. Otherwise we just lost a favorite place. read more

Under new management found the service 100 percent better. Ordered off Pub menu prior to being seated dinner. Had fried and baked oysters, they were tasty. We were seated for dinner. New and old world wines by the bottle. I really wanted the dinners to be out of this world since I know what the other establishments owned by this management company, unfortunately they fell short. The salmon was over cooked and dry, burnt on top served over lentils which were also very dry. We asked for olive oil just to moisten it down a bit. Another plate ordered was risotto with mushrooms which We felt could have cooked a while longer. The insides were still hard. With this being said the waitstaff was great. The check in for dinner reservations was confusing. The pool table and shuffleboard outside the formal dining area was getting loud but out great waitress realized this and was right on top of it and shut the door. I will visit again and have dinner here with hopes with learning curves they improve. The history of the place is worth a visit. read more

Not really sure how I feel about this place.....the remodel looks great, service and food....not so much. Our server seemed like she had way better things to do, and they weren't busy! No personality....never asked how our food was, BUT they do get an automatic 20% "living wage" added to your check, so that's probably why she didn't care. Too many other great spots to go to when in Long Beach. Don't waste your time. read more
