Cute vintage find! The bar area has so much personality. The staff were friendly. I ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup. It was tasty and just what I needed for a cold rainy day. While the grilled cheese was simple it could have been more hardy...the bread was airy and the butter and grease didn't do the sandwich justice. The soup was tasty, a bit salty tough but good. Went for my birthday dinner this week and let's start with the positive, super cute place and the cocktail I had I really enjoyed. It was just us and one other table and our server was very nice and attentive. The reason for the 2 star review and why I would highly recommend not coming unless for drinks is food was really not good. I had the pappardelle which was hand made with ricotta, Brussel shavings, and duck confit, the pasta had no flavor or seasoning at all it was about a spoonful of the each of the add ins the duck seemed old and there was about of 1/4 cup of just pasta water in the bottom, it was really inedible and I only managed to be able to eat a handful of bites. My partners fish and chip wasn't much better fish was over done but the fries were okay, we ended up getting food back at our hotel since we were both still very hungry . For desert we had the blueberry cobbler with lavender vanilla ice cream which since it was my birthday was on the house which is very kind, and it was really good but with how bad the entrees were I won't be back. read more

We managed to sneak away for a couple of days to our condo on the Long Beach Peninsula. It was sad to see how many restaurants have closed; however, due to our being at very high risk, we just don't feel comfortable dining inside. We've had great meals at the Shelburne before, so so we're happy to see they offer take-out. We ordered the Tempura Cauliflower, Dungeness Crab and Corn Fritters, and the Double-Fried Chicken Wings. The order was taken quickly, and we were able to (mostly) pay when we ordered. Once there, we called, and they brought the food out quickly. I did have to sign my charge slip, though. Oh my gosh, the food was so tasty! Loved every bite. My one minus would be we probably got a weeks worth of salt, but hey, it's pub food. Hang in there, Shelburne, we can't wait to dine inside again when we feel safe. read more

My husband and I had a great early dinner here. We shared the small plate of local clams in a tomatillo broth... it was excellent. He had the sablefish for his main course. Perfectly cooked and a large portion. I had the fork and knife steak sandwich and the steak was great, really tender, and the onions were delicious. Everything was great and service was excellent. I'd eaten at the Shelburne a couple times many years ago and it was very good. This visit we arrived late and decided just to eat in the hotel as we were staying there. The Rockfish and chips was mostly breading - very little rockfish. The Buttermilk fried oysters were also deep fried with tons of breading and TINY oysters - usually these are pan fried with light breading. There were also pieces of possibly rubbery calamari, again completely overwhelmed with breading. My husband had a stomach ache afterwards and said the oysters were not fresh. I went up to the bar as my champagne and St Germaine drink had too much St Germaine - I got 2 cubes of ice with sullen silence. No comment on the insane amount of breading left on my plate and an 18% living wage charge. I prefer to tip for good service. Also I would pay more if the food was good! read more

Sunday morning breakfast was an A-Ok experience. It's so laidback and definitely fitting with this incredible, maintained ancient piece of Long Beach (and WA) history. My friend was totally into the place. I had the oatmeal with the usual sidekicks. It was good. The waitress was ok, if a bit not quite dialed in. Her noodles were clumped together and the crab was tasteless. My zucchini and tortellini were swimming in butter. The only semi palatable thing was our drinks. I stopped in to the Shelburne Pub on a snowy Super Bowl Sunday. I had the Oysters Rockefeller, and an order of hand-cut fries. Both were delicious! Highly recommended! I hope they bring back the Mussel Chowder someday. read more

Service was very bad. The woman with dark eyebrows who served us at first was very unfriendly from the start and made it seem like we were a burden for her. Then, my party's food all came out except for mine. The second server told us after a while that they just started making it and I asked if it could be made with egg whites instead of over medium and she said that they probably already started...but seeing that everyone else were almost done with their food and mine had just started to be made, I don't think changing the egg should have been so difficult. Mine finally came out and the eggs were over easy. I told her that and she said well I asked for over medium and left it at that. I could only eat the bacon from the sandwich and a couple apple slices. They never came back over to us after that to see how our food was or to check on us. Then it took maybe 45 minutes after we were all finished before we could ask for the check. A third server came over to take the plates and that's the first time we could ask for the check. They charged us for the sandwich that I couldn't eat (except for the bacon slices) and charged gratuity. Never asked how the sandwich was or anything. They pretty much avoided me after they brought the sand which that I told her was not right...after I had to wait 20 min after my friends got their food to get. Just bad. Super bad. I only gave two stars because the hotel and restaurant is really cute inside. Really rude, unprofessional, unfriendly service. So bizarre, honestly. I worked in the restaurant/bar industry for ten years and I would never have left my customers like that especially after I forgot to put in one of their orders. With a mini facelift, the fancy restaurant of my childhood has become a place I will return to every time I am home! I've been in a couple of times now. The food is always amazing and the servers are welcoming, accommodating, and peaceful. We have had such great experiences there. This weekend we went for dinner and drinks. I was able to have Casey's halibut special and the pea purée was AMAZING. We also had the smoked oyster chowder, a salad, and the black garlic fried rice (another stand out dish). Everything was wonderful and I cannot wait to try more off the menu. The outdoor space is lovely and we were able to start our meal out there and enjoy some unusual sunshine for the beach. We also found the prices to be extremely reasonable. We felt like we were getting out of there for far too little, even after the service charge! We can't wait to come back. read more

Update: The restaurant still seems to be figuring itself out. The food was bland and overpriced. Nice service and good drinks. The pub is still good but I wouldn't go to the restaurant part again. Recently updated beautifully restored historic pub with great food and drinks. Kind and courteous service. We had the clams, black garlic fried rice, French onion soup, and pork rillette. They were all great. The place is gorgeous. Good music. We will definitely be back and next time we'll bring friends. read more

Omg! If you have not had lunch/dinner at this restaurant--do it the next time you are in Long Beach! My husband had the fresh Halibut/pea purée/barley special. He took his sweet time savoring every bite. We had the chicken pate, fried oysters,and potato salad (with dill and pickled halibut) for appetizers. I would do it all over again. Absolutely delicious. We sat outdoors in a sunny but not overly warm spot. This was a heavenly experience! They have a bocce ball outdoors and a pool table inside. Next time we are booking a room at the hotel. Last night my wife and I ate dinner at this beautiful old hotel with a pub style restaurant. I know COVID has degraded the workforce in establishments and it was apparent here. Short handed staff did a very admirable job taking care of the guests. Service took longer than expected but it was supplied with honest and gracious hosting. The cooks on the other hand missed the mark or perhaps the chef needs to watch what is happening a little closer. The Salmon Toast. What a great idea, but the execution missed the mark...like shooting for the moon and hitting an asteroid. Dry salmon, toast from yesterdays bread, no moisture and chunks of rock salt on top of salty salmon. The Asparagus Soup. Nice big Duck egg in the middle??? but what about the creamy soup? Flavor was maybe a 4-5 of 10? Too much salt and too little asparagus flavor. Again, great idea but poor execution. Steamed clams? Got about the same amount of sausage as I did clam. I would have ordered pig if I didn't like seafood. Gross concoction. Loved the hotel, the staff were friendly and warm. Left a 20% tip even after realizing they boosted the check with a livable wage surcharge. We were told at The Adrift Hotel, booked for the evening, this business was part of shared ownership hence our referral to this place. We ate at the Adrift the next evening. I was very disappointed in our stop at Shelburne Pub. Been there before but it had been years and it was very good. Lots had changed since our last visit, unfortunately not for the better. beer was good, wine was good. That is where it ends. The food was much like you would get at a gas station. I had a NY steak (29) could eat about half of it, couldn't chew the rest. it came with fries, it did but as crumbs for about half of them. The fish and chips was one large piece of very greasy fish, not sure what kind but very fishy taste, not like a nice ling cod or halibut. menu said rock cod, but I have had rock cod before nothing like this. Will not be returning. Sorry to see The Shelburne go down hill. read more

The food was okay and service was decent. Main point to share here is that they do not accept reservations through Yelp even though it is possible to request a reservation that way. I learned this only after showing up for a reservation I made many days in advance, I had even received a couple of reservation reminders. We were accommodated, but we were made to feel like it was our fault for not knowing. read more

My girlfriend and I stopped by the Shelburne after an amazing dinner at the Depot. We were greeted by Ashlynn (not Ashley!) who gave us immaculate service and delicious cocktails (I got the NY sour and GF got the Moscow Mule). For dessert we got the chocolate Torte, which is enough for 2 and amazing! Ashlynn captivated us with the history of the hotel, as well as recommendations for other local eats and drinks. My husband and I could not decided on an appetizer so we order 2 and I am so glad we did because they were both so yummy, as were our entrees. We had a fabulous meal at this very eclectic hotel/pub. The menu was perfect for a group of 4 varied diets - a vegan, a vegetarian, a gluten free eater, and a standard carnivore. The food was amazing. I swear it was one of the best soups I have ever had in my life. We got the soup of the day. It was a beef base with wild mushrooms. I asked for matsutake mushrooms on top of the soup and they were very accommodating. The soup arrived with slices of those white fragrant Japanese pine mushroom. We entered the soup like it was a world of its own. Like I already wrote, by far the best soup I have ever had in my entire life. The dessert was also amazing. The fish and chips was also amazing (fresh cod). We are going there tomorrow for a porcini and matsutake scramble breakfast. We also left with some amazing pottery made by the inn keeper. read more

Ate dinner in July. We had the duck and salmon. The sauces were both very satisfactory - appreciated that. The drinks were decent. I believe the Crab Ravioli was also good. The knock down is that I left with a $108 bill - inc. $12 tip... The portions were okay - but not spectacular. Therefore, that seemed a bit pricey to me - esp. in Long Beach. Perhaps in downtown Seattle.... Had the bill topped at $80 maybe I would have felt good. The service was sort of moderately friendly - but that is not my biggest deal if the food is satisfactory. Thus, I will continue to explore in the area. HOWEVER, the food was good - and quite the lovely side yard and deck scene. Therefore, I do not want to dissuade anyone from checking out the scene for themselves. I doubt they will be disappointed. read more

First of all, the remodel is adorable, kind of rustic with a chic twist. Pub was open until 11- staff was friendly and accommodating. I love that they include a tip with the check to give the staff a living wage and the food and cocktails although it was technically a pub was restaurant quality. We got to stay for a night at the inn also and included was a modest but filling charcuterie board paired with French pressed coffee and orange juice. Thank you, guys! read more
