It's craggly and crunchy in the best of ways - with a consistent crispiness across the entire fish for every piece. I don't think I've ever had a crunch this good on fish and chips. The oil is clearly fresh, and it's served with basically no delay from the frying. I also loved the cod inside. It's super moist and flaky. Obviously, the fish doesn't have a lot of fat, but it makes up for it with a disappearing texture where you barely even need to bite through. They've clearly gotten the formula right on the fish. If that wasn't enough, the fries were easily the best I've ever had with fish and chips. They were hot, thick, and fluffy - a perfect combination that led to delicious results. The portion on these was great as well. If I had one complaint, the tartar sauce wasn't very good. It felt like it was missing both fat and acid, and tasted closer to ranch than what I was expecting a tartar sauce to be. I just didn't end up using it for the fish. Yes, this is pricey. The 3-piece order cost me $26 before tax/tip. That's quite expensive - despite a solid portion size. Is this the best fish and chips in the city? To me it's between this and Pacific Inn Pub. They have a much better tartar sauce and serve a larger portion at a third less of the price, but I think the actual fish and the fries here are better. I came in to use the restroom and after 5-6 mins, I was getting the door pounded multiple times. 5 mins later I came out asking who was knocking on the door. One of the fry cooks came yelling saying "other poeple need the bathroom" and started cussing me out. He said Im banned from the using the restroom. When I asked another tenant if Im actually banned because I was only in the restroom for 15 mins, He claimed that it was a lot longer to which I responded, "I came in the store at 7am and it is now 717, you can check the cameras." He continued by confirming that I was banned. I have a shared restroom at home which I explained to the tenant, who didnt care. This place is filled with shitty people who have no respect for anyone. As a grocery store, they're not very huge but also means it's easier to find stuff. It's gone through a ton of changes over the years, and now the floor tiles are a darker color when they used to be white like the walls long ago. Their produce and dairy is usually very fresh whenever my mom and I get them here, and staff - some of whom I've seen working there since I was little - is very friendly. I don't live as close to here as I used to anymore, but I always think of this place whenever I pass by the area since it gives me a nice, nostalgic feeling, especially since I was born and raised in the Beacon Hill neighborhood.

Someone called this market a bodega and I nearly laughed out loud. This a bougie wonderful market…read morethat is much more expensive than a bodega. I live near the market and I love being able buy most of my products without having go to QFC or Safeway. While I love the convenience, the prices can be pretty high. I bought one can of soda and the next day the price went to ten cents to almost three dollars a can. I get everything is getting expensive, but it still does hurt the pockets. I do recommend as they have a variety of meats, cheeses, wines, etc that make them a gem.
