Great bites! It's a super fun spot, and must do in Seattle. It felt like Cane's or Chikfila with the speed and efficiency of taking orders. I'd love to go again already! The salmon chowder was the star of the show for me-it was smoky with tons of flavor and freshness. It was silly to feed the seagulls as well. They were ready for a bite! I do wonder if it's good for them... though it is quite a fun draw in to this spot. The fried salmon is VERY dry. Not my favorite. It tastes decent dipped in the chowder, otherwise be sure to grab the classic fish and chips. That's the first time I've seen and tried fried salmon!

It was our first time here and we really enjoyed it. It was a beautiful day so we opted for a table outside. The waiter gave us enough time to look over the menu, but I already knew I wanted to try the clam chowder! It came out piping hot , slightly sweet, smokey with a hint of bacon. The grilled artichoke was standard. When I'm back in town I'd love to try other dishes.

We stopped by for a quick bite before heading to the airport. We ordered the three piece true cod and a cup of their New England clam chowder. For a quick bite we really enjoyed our lunch. The fish was very good and so was the chowder. My only complaint is that I wish the soup was hotter. They have cups/bowls already dished out and ready to be served so it is not very hot. I understand why they do this since I this is a quick service place but I like my soup extra hot. On the positive side the lines do move very quickly. My husband went to throw away our trash and came back with their ice cream sundae. A pretty big portion for only $5. A yummy ending to our meal. Overall we enjoyed our lunch here.

The salmon was okay. I wasn't the biggest fan of the stuffing. My family enjoyed the other items they had at the restaurant. Next time i'll try something different.

Excuse the picture, it's one of the few times I remembered to snap one mid meal, it'll serve as proof of visit. Ivar's is one of the staples of Seattle for good reason! One of my favorite fish and chips for consistency, convenience, and availability around town. Better fish and chips may exist, but none are as accessible as Ivar's with many locations. What's interesting here is that they have a line for ordering and then a line to pay, but it's clearly labelled. Cod is juicy, fried lightly, and heavenly when paired with their delicious tartar sauce. Chips are soft with a light crunch and also heavenly when paired with the tartar. They have a covered shelter to dine inside but the entire waterfront is nifty to eat around. Restroom (washroom, bathroom search terms) available next door in Ivar's Acre of Clams. Pro tip that the kid cones are delicious and plentiful, so save room for dessert.

The food is excellent here and tastes fresh. The look of Ivar's has this cool mix of old school with modern. The service was really good but we had two waiters and that seemed like one too many. It was a bit awkward. The prices seemed pretty high. But hey, we were from out of town so perhaps that's standard for the area. But I do recommend this place. The view next to the water is fantastic!

When visiting Seattle, we had to get our taste of seafood. Ivar's has been here originally since 1948 and serving their famous fish and chips. We arrived at 11:30 am on a weekday and right before the lunch rush. We sat on a large table next to the window with gorgeous views of the waterfront. Our server Kay was the best! She was so cheerful and accommodating making our meal a nice treat. The fish and chips was crispy and good sized. The seafood linguine had a lot of seafood but little too soupy. It was more like linguine seafood soup.

Our family in Seattle took us to Ivars and told us it was the best clam chowder in Seattle...they didn't disappoint! Ordered a clam chowder and some fish fillets. Clam chowder was meaty with a lot of clam and seasoned well. The fish fillets were really good also! Had a bit of a chewiness that was nice compared to mushy fish fillets I've had in the past! It was pretty empty around the time we went, but nevertheless still had a good time!

We stopped in for Ivar's at the waterfront for a quick lunch and were greeted by a long line, but it moved surprisingly fast. The staff did a great job keeping things efficient by calling out to customers in the line to start on each order, and by the time we got up to the cashier, our food was ready within minutes. Talk about efficiency! There's plenty of seating options-outside along the water or under a covered area. We were going to sit outside, but after we sat down, a family came out to feed the birds. The seagulls swooped in, so we moved indoors. While inside was a little less hectic, there were plenty of pigeons hoping for crumbs. Oh well! We still enjoyed our freshly fried halibut and chips. The fish was perfectly golden brown and not overcooked. We love dipping each bite in tartar sauce, and the cashier gladly gave us extra dip. Napkins, malt vinegar, straws, and utensils are conveniently located just left of the cashier for easy access. Looking forward to next time.

We stopped in here for a great midday meal in October while visiting and enjoyed the views of the interior of the restaurant with much to see and also views to the outside through large windows to see water, mountains, boats, etc. The waitstaff were top notch and very attentive and helpful with answering questions. Food orders were taken and fulfilled by kitchen very quickly, piping hot and delicious. I ordered from the Ivar's Classics lunch menu and chose the fried northwest combo of Alaska true cod, surf clam strips, shrimp. and substituted Brussels sprouts for the fries. No complaints, very satisfied! Highly recommended as a top destination if visiting Seattle and appreciate tried-and-true options.

Cozy waterfront spot with fresh fish and great vibes Visited Ivar's Fish Bar in Seattle and had a wonderful meal. Ordered sourdough, a clam chowder bowl, and the 3-piece Fish 'N Chips--the fish was super soft and perfectly cooked, and the chowder was rich and comforting. The spot definitely feels like a tourist favorite--they even have tour maps near the entrance. The waterfront view is lovely, and the indoor seating is very spacious, with cozy fireplaces and nice decorations throughout, giving a warm, welcoming vibe. They also have a happy hour every day, which is a nice bonus. On top of that, everyone is super friendly, making the overall experience very enjoyable. Overall, a solid spot for fresh seafood with a cozy atmosphere and beautiful views.

At this place, the food was really good, especially the clam chowder soup. I like the ambiance inside the seating area, and the birds outside are really cool. But what I didnt like was the service. Someone I know ordered scallops. But the worker gave her prawns. She said she order scallops and the worker just said "no you didnt." I find this very rude because she did indeed order scallops. She just took the prawns after that. But beside service this place had great food.

    Oris B.

This ranks among the worst fish and chips I've had in Seattle. The food was overpriced and mediocre, there's really not much else to say about it. The service was decent and straightforward, which was the only redeeming quality. Despite the lackluster food, the place was packed with tourists eager to experience a taste of Seattle. There's ample seating both indoors and out, though outdoor diners should be prepared for opportunistic birds that may leave unwelcome surprises dangerously close to your meal. I'd recommend trying elsewhere.

The oysters were the main draw for me, and they were totally worth the visit. Old Stove serves them with a savory watermelon sauce in addition to a traditional cocktail sauce--eaten together, it's a flavor explosion that I can't quite describe. We also enjoyed the garlic everything fries, which were delicious! We just had to try a flight to sample the brews. There are some really good beers available here, especially the Belgian blonde, citra pale ale, and the stout. I did not really care for the seasonal sour (grapefruit, I think)--to me, it just tasted like a sour and nothing more, but someone with more interest in sour beers would probably enjoy it just fine. Despite the busy night, our server checked on us regularly and was very personable, stopping to chat with us about the local sports scene. There's plenty to look at, inside and out. If you can snag a seat outside, you'll get to enjoy the waterfront. Inside, the decor is industrial but fun. Not sure if this runs all the time, but when we were there, the tvs were playing vintage beer ads, which was quite fun. They also sell some pretty good t-shirt designs. Overall, Old Stove Brewing is the perfect combo of good location, good food, and good beer. Definitely recommend a visit when in the Pike Place area!

I had the fish and chips, which are three pieces of Alaskan cod - coming with fries, tartar sauce, and ketchup. These were seriously awesome. I have to first talk about the beer batter on the outside, which has a phenomenal crunch. It's craggly and crunchy in the best of ways - with a consistent crispiness across the entire fish for every piece. I don't think I've ever had a crunch this good on fish and chips. The oil is clearly fresh, and it's served with basically no delay from the frying. I also loved the cod inside. It's super moist and flaky. Obviously, the fish doesn't have a lot of fat, but it makes up for it with a disappearing texture where you barely even need to bite through. They've clearly gotten the formula right on the fish. If that wasn't enough, the fries were easily the best I've ever had with fish and chips. They were hot, thick, and fluffy - a perfect combination that led to delicious results. The portion on these was great as well. If I had one complaint, the tartar sauce wasn't very good. It felt like it was missing both fat and acid, and tasted closer to ranch than what I was expecting a tartar sauce to be. I just didn't end up using it for the fish. Yes, this is pricey. The 3-piece order cost me $26 before tax/tip. That's quite expensive - despite a solid portion size. Is this the best fish and chips in the city? To me it's between this and Pacific Inn Pub. They have a much better tartar sauce and serve a larger portion at a third less of the price, but I think the actual fish and the fries here are better. I would say it's a toss-up - you can't go wrong with either one. Overall, a fantastic new opening that I would love to bring people to. 9/10

I split with two others in my group the sampler, which consists of two pieces each of fried cod, oyster and shrimp, all on top of a bed of French fries. The tempura batter for all three came apart a little too easily, though it was even more so with the fried cod, as it was hard to use a spoon and fork to scoop up the easily broken pieces. Shrimp and oyster were both really good and not too salty on their own. French fries were also really filling, and were very fresh - they were on the verge of being too salty. Overall portion was relatively big and all three of us got full from splitting this.

We arrived around 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and were told the wait would be about an hour and 15 minutes. We asked about the bar, and after about five minutes, two seats opened up. We ordered the Dinghy chowder sampler so we could try three different chowders. We came for the clam chowder. I thought the flavor was good, although the texture was a little different for me. The biggest disappointment was the regular clam chowder. We don't eat bacon, and they told us the bacon could not be left out. Since clam chowder was the main reason we came, that really took away from the experience. A few minutes after we ordered, a couple sitting next to us at the bar asked the same question we did: "Is there bacon in the award-winning clam chowder?" When the server said yes, they said, "Okay, never mind. We don't want that." So we weren't the only ones asking. We ended up having the lobster chowder. Overall, 3 out of 5. The experience was okay, but because we couldn't really try the clam chowder we came for, we don't plan to come back.
