Went In after work last night ordered two Long Island's and they were so watered down. So we told our server and he brought the manager Robert over to speak with us and rudely he says while banging on the table " our drinks aren't made to give you a tickle in your throat" then he goes on to tell us that they don't do refunds on signature drinks, we got a regular Long Island not a shell shack tea that he swore was the same thing. His attitude was so nasty. We then asked for the check and decided we weren't getting anything else. Our first time visit was not a pleasant one at all. No need to go into anything, the one's that matter are aware. However, if something positive happens, it should be mentioned. Decided to give you another try, we were pleasantly surprised. We ordered appetizers, came out fast and hot, on to the main meals, they were the same. We were pleased. Not to mention our server, she was the greatest, really take her job seriously. Daishia mentioned how it was her pleasure to answer our questions and to serve us. Bartenders are really bad here, it's almost like they avoid eye contact to keep from having to take your order. It's happened multiple times with multiple bartenders. I actually like the food here, but it seems I have to endure being ignored (today in the middle of the day so she was NOT busy). Calamari was fair and the cocktail sauce was pretty decent. Chicken and sausage gumbo was about on par with other places that offer the same, and was pleasantly surprised when i finally found the lone piece of sausage. Clam chowder was like eating milk with a thicker consistency. The fried oysters: batter was pretty good while the protein was on par with other places that offer the same. BUT the cocktail sauce tasted completely different than what was presented with the calamari. Plus the horse radish was lacking in all but smell of horse radish. I do not know what it is called, but the shrimp that comes in a bag and sauce, was tasting very much unlike boiled shrimp. To the extent that the shrimp when poured onto the tray ( for dipping in appropriate sauces), were slimy and almost unappetizing. Because of spice sensitivities, we got our sauces on the side. The servers mixed up the sauces, causing reactions that were pretty spectacular however bad for the sensitive person involved. The orzo that came with the shrimp was lacking in flavor and substance as well. But I do not know what orzo is, so that is all I can say about it. Everybody else seemed to be enjoying their food, so we had high hopes. But all in all, the whole meal was very much sub-par in flavor and not worth the pricetag. Any time we go to the metroplex we try and make a stop at Shell Shack. This is one place that I know my kids are going to eat everything on their plate. The crab is cooked well and the kitchen sink sauce is amazing. My 12 year old has to wash her hands at least 5 times in the amazing hand washer. We have no been to every one of the Shell Shacks in the Metroplex and have enjoyed each and everyone of them. read more

Family restaurant with lots of options for everyone. We had the calamari with the cocktail sauce, it was tasty and cooked just right. We also had two drinks the Adult Strawberry Lemonade and the Shell Shack Mama. They were both very tasty craft drinks but we liked the the Adult Strawberry Lemonade more. For our main dish I ordered a the VIP Kitchen Sink Hot. Came with crab legs, shrimp, corn, potatoes and sausage. This was the best part of our whole dining experience, the kitchen sink complimented the crab and shrimp perfectly. Simply delicious. My wife had the Buffalo Shrimp with ranch. It was very tasty and the fries were well seasoned. Definitely a must try when visiting this place. At the end of our meal they pointed us to an automatic hand washer which was very convenient since my hands were covered in Kitchen Sink Sauce. We had planned to order dessert but by this time I was completely full. Staff was very friendly and very knowledgeable, answered all of our questions and made suggestions. My name is Rochelle B. not Raquel S......My first experience with Shell Shack was actually the McKinney/Uptown location, and my husband and I enjoyed it, we had crawfish boil and it came with everything (corn on the cob, sausage and potatoes)...well I visited the Mesquite location on 01/16/2021 and was very dissatisfied and unhappy. I ordered the Hamburger/Fries, 1 lb of King Crab and 1 lb of Shrimp, I also ordered extra potatoes and sausage because I remembered my visit at the McKinney location the potatoes and sausage was minimal, so I decided to order extra, well when my husband came back with my order I was soooo disappointed/upset to know that I had paid 34.99 for 1lb King Crab and THAT WAS IT, I paid 14.99 for 1 lb of shrimp and THAT WAS IT, I asked for the mayo to be on the side and didn't even get any at all, I asked for the burger to be WELL DOWN and the bun was soaked with blood.....I thought corn on the cob, potatoes and sausage came with the order as it did at the McKinney location but those items did not COME WITH THE ORDER, so the extra potatoes/sausage I was ordering wasn't near about enough and didn't get any corn on the cobs, to top it all off my order cost me 78.00 for a handful of shrimp and 4 king crab legs....I will NEVER go back to Shell Shack (NO LOCATIONS)....I should have went to CRAB KINGZ in DeSoto my sister told me about and the prices are cheaper and EVERYTHING comes with the order (KING CRABS, CORN ON THE COB, WHOLE ANDOILLE SAUSAGE AND SEVERAL POTATOES)..THAT IS WHERE I WILL BE GOING FOR MY SEAFOOD FIX FOR NOW ON..... This was originally a 5 star review because the food was amazing, but then I remembered how distasteful each female staff was dressed at this particular location and decided to deduct a point. Everyone was wearing these black booty cutter shorts, I mean like gripping the cuff of the buttocks type of shorts. Each woman that worked here had curves (nothing wrong with that because I have them), but unfortunately this uniform was just way too much... honestly it wasn't a good look. I don't remember seeing all of this at the Uptown location. I felt like I was in a Bubba Sparks video shoot. Other than the distracting waitstaff visual, I did enjoy my medium kitchen sink crab legs with shrimp and sausage. Oh, and their fresh cut fries are the best (on Wingstop level). Always down for seafood and I dislike the touristy feel of Joe's Crab Shack so we stopped in at this new place in Mesquite. Limited menu, doesn't hurt my feelings. They have a few things and they work hard at them. My crab legs were cooked to perfection and cracked like a dream. Crab tater tots were yummy. Husband loved his crawfish. Only negative was over done hushpuppies. I got a bib and gloves which is new and I loved them. Even with gloves I tried the cool hand washing machine. Neat! Can be loud.
