Special shout out to Lin and her team for preparing nearly 200 pastries for Saturday 8am catering. I was happy they were able to produce so much the day after Thanksgiving and even advise us to have somebody pick it up to avoid expensive delivery service. The pastries were a big hit with the guests, we had tons of leftovers and ate them for days onwards. The pastries tasted fresh and delicious - not too sweet. They even tasted great 2-3 days afterwards (just ate some for breakfast today!). The pricing was also affordable, at roughly $2 per pastry for the catering order. I've been a regular customer here, but there was this one day when I only had a $100 bill and needed to buy a loaf of bread that cost less than $10. They don't take credit cards for spending below $10, and don't take $100 bills. Service was shit too and gave the "take it or leave it" attitude. Located in the plaza where Lion Supermarket is. The storefront is smaller than the one on Barber Lane in Milpitas, but service was incredible. I purchased a mocha cake for pickup on Christmas Day; thrilled and grateful that they are open. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted. The 2 ladies working that day were cheerful and sweet. We were the only ones in the store, so we were helped right away. I showed the lady the email confirmation and the rest was history. The process for ordering and pickup, the design of the cake, and the moist and decadent flavor reminded me so much of the bakery that is now closed. I have been searching for a long time for a mocha cake. The bakery that closed is called, "Thanh Bach." Sheng Kee's cappuccino cake was so delicious and light. The frosting, fluffy. Was walking around the plaza and decided to check this place out. Ended up trying the dan taat and the coconut shreds-coated cream bread. My boyfriend also tried those and their rectanular garlic bread. The dan taat custard is too thick for my preference but I clearly tasted the egg and the crust was good (like pie crust). Every year it's a family tradition to get a taro cake from Sheng Kee Bakery. This year was the first time I picked up the cake from this Sheng Kee location, and while everything didn't go flawlessly at the end of the day I can't complain. I didn't preorder the cake so I was prepared for the possibility that there wouldn't be one available same day, but I called as soon as they opened and managed to get one reserved. The lady who answered the phone spoke with an accent, and despite my few years of Chinese language education in America, there was a point in the call where I was totally confused... to the point where I couldn't make out what was being said logically or what the combination of sounds could possibly be as an individual term. No worries though, I managed to make it through the call. When I arrived to pick up the cake, it turned out that my phone number had been written down wrong. Luckily nobody else had a taro cake on reservation so I won my case in convincing that I was the customer, but oh how the little hiccups make me sweat! What if something is said that I don't understand or what if I don't know how to respond... awkward! Anyways, at the end of the day I got the cake, so all ended well. The cake is still surprisingly similar to how it used to be last year and how it's always been every year to my memory, the only thing that has changed is the price. I noticed them by there unique color and by their familiar size and shape. The moon cakes seem a bit pricey but their definitely worth trying! The Lychee Moon Cake was like a flavor explosion. In my opinion, it tasted very much like lychee and was perfectly sweet. The lotus moon cake is always a favorite of mine. I like the lotus flavor better than any other moon cake and it did not disappoint! Portuguese Custard Tart - My daughter got this because of my Oakland Napoleon Super Bakery Yelp; it was not as good as the PO tart from Napoleon Lychee MoonCake - we can't find this anywhere else. This is bite size and the most expensive thing we bought, but worth it. Much better than regular mooncakes. Atmosphere - Consistent throughout chain. Clean and good flow. Service - Good Price - $11.60, Prices are a little above average, but sometimes you just have to pay for good quality. It's predictable and if you come here you know you are getting pastries with lots of breading that will burn faster than normal when you reheat it in a toaster oven. I love the savory stuff found near the cash register, the meat buns and the traditional Egg tarts + Portuguese egg tarts. There were also tea-hardboiled eggs up there as well. Hot dog buns are found in the normal area in the plastic boxes. My wife likes like the plain thick toast and the custard filled bun. We get this every couple months and use these as a snack throughout the weekend. This is smaller than the Sheng Kee in Union City but we think the quality is a little better. read more

I don't want to leave a negative review but that's the only way to reach the business owner to make corrections. I have been coming here for quite sometime and the services have been 3 stars at best. This last time I was there for an egg tart and there were 2 types so I bought one of the new kind of egg tart to sample after getting no answers from one of the women working there. She was very rude and disrespectful to me and acted as if I was holding up the line or intruding on her time and space. Btw there were only 4 people in the store Sine They allow credit card purchase only for $10 or more (I think that's against Visa policy?) I bought 4 more to meet their requirement. Chinese baked goods It was something like 85°C Bakery Café but I found the baked goods here better. The inside is small and may not look as appealing as an 85° store but they have a good selection of Taiwanese-based pastries, cakes & bread. They also sold coffee drinks. The concept is similar to 85°C... you take a tray and a tong, choose your pastries/bread and place it on your tray. Pay at the counter when you're done with your selections. I got my favorite chocolate croissants and BBQ Bun. They also have individually boxed moon cakes and a variety of buns: custard, pineapple custard raisin, dirty, puff pork sung etc. The employees don't interact with the customers too much. Not sure if they are limited in their English-speaking but the bakery has a nice assortment of pastries at good value for the price! Parking is huge. I usually have a good experience but today no. The lady had short hair with bangs but she didn't even tell us the bag charge and didn't say if we wanted a bag. But anyways she started to open the bag and said oh I didn't charge it as she was looking at the receipt. First of all, you didn't even ask us. Second you didn't tell us about the bag charge. Third how could you not even remember if you charged it or not. She was talking to her friend as she was helping us out so that must be why. She got distracted. Sheng Kee seems to be quite popular here in Norcal. I dont see this bakery in SoCal. I have not tried their breads so that will be another review in the future. But based on their selection, it looks promising. I can't wait to go back to try their breads some day. I came here to pick up a birthday cake. Ordered a regular round cake with fresh fruits (also known as Fruit Basket Cake) because that's what the birthday person likes. nothing special, can't really go wrong with a traditional plain vanilla sponge cake with cream and fresh fruits on the top. But what bothered me was the filling. I am not sure what creamy pudding it is or some thick cream they added, i was not a fan of it. And i definitely was not happy that they used cocktail fruits for the inside middle layer, i wish they used fresh strawberries or mango.. anything better than canned fruit cocktail. On their website, it says "Diced Fruit in between layers." those diced fruits are fruit cocktail with the maraschino cherries too! ughhhh!!! The red bean bun was so tasty, that I decided to order delivery For delivery, I ordered eight of the Portuguese custard tarts that cost $2.15 a piece. Cute bakery shop! My boyfriends family loves this place and most of their birthday cakes are from here. Their favorite is the passion fruit cake which is slightly sweet from the fluffy cake and sour from the syrup. They have a huge variety of baked goods that are reasonably priced. Tons and tons of variety of pastries, tarts, cakes, etc. Very simple: you grab you tongs and fill up your tray with delicious treats and then return them to the cashier. They take credit cards over $10. We tried their best seller pineapple bun, lotus pastry, chocolate croissant, layered chocolate pastry, mocha roll cake, and a Portuguese egg tart. The roll cake was sooo moist and soft with the perfect ratio of cream to cake. I would like to try other flavors. Our favorite was definitely the Portuguese egg tart (the flakiest piece of heaven, i could eat 100 of these) and the chocolate croissant! I got a taro pastry and a matcha danish like pasty. I really enjoyed the taro one. The bread was soft and a little sweet and the taro filling was nice. The matcha filling was kind of grainy but the pastry around it was ok. 4 stars since there is a great selection of things and the quality was good. This is my family's main source of breakfast. We always get the whole wheat toast, green onion bread, and pineapple bun. I must say they are generous with the green onion! Sheng Kee used to have the spicy chicken cheese bread, but unfortunately, not anymore. I purchased the taro cake twice because it's a family favorite. I wish I can purchase slices on days I'm craving it, but the bakery only offers it as a whole cake at the moment.
