Went on Monday at 6PM, a few parties but no line for our party of 8. Clean restaurant with nice ambience. Ordered the $33.99 AYCE menu option. Meats were great. We ordered beef brisket, marinated short rib, pork belly w/ ssamjang, large intestine, and kimchi stew. You cook the meats yourself. We had our grills changed out a few times and our servers were attentive. The ventilation inside could be stronger. Our 15m and 3 yr old loved the marinated short rib, pork belly, rice paper, steamed egg, rice, fish cake (not spicy and. not much pepper which was great for them) and cucumbers. They only had booster chairs but our 3 year old didn't need one and our 13 month old sat in the booth. The servers and kitchen staff in the back were really kind and kept smiling at our kids. They also gave them a treat after dinner, which the kids were thrilled about. It would be nice to have a Yelp waitlist option so you could do some grocery shopping near by. Our friend Grant told us that a new Shik Do Rak opened so close to home. We came here during their soft opening, and the service was excellent! Their meat quality is pretty good, and the ambiance is super cute and modern. I love how they have barn doors that you can close if the sun is hitting through the window if you are seated in the middle row. We haven't had great experiences at their other locations, but this location specifically, brought us back a few times since they've opened. All of the banchan are delicious, and we are waiting for them to serve potato salad, hopefully soon! We'll be back again and again, especially for lunch dates with the hubby. Been wanting to try this kbbq spot near my godmothers house and finally was able to. As soon as we parked, we were seated within 5 minutes. I've tried Shik Do Rak in Irvine and when I learned they opened in La Palma, I was super excited to check it out! We tired the Small Premium Beef Combo and it was amazing! The meats were premium quality, very tender and flavorful. The combo came with a lot of other dishes like steamed egg, kimchi soup, and soybean soup. We usually ordered AYCE so we would cook our own meats, but with the combo, our meats were actually grilled by our server Paris. She did such a great job being attentive and making sure we were well taken care of! The new location is not too big but it was very spacious, the layout looks open and well ventilated which is a plus for Korean BBQ restaurants. This place used to be Hwang So Go Jip, and I love how they remodeled it. The updated look feels much nicer and more modern. The meats were good, the service was good as well, and it is a nice smaller KBBQ spot nearby. The line can get long, so definitely try to get there early. Their meat quality and taste were the highest and on par or better than their original location location. There are three all you can eat options and also a la carte. I would recommend 3-2 AYCE as the best bang for your buck, but wouldn't mind splurging for 3-1 when I can! All the servers were attentive and friendly. In addition to their meats, the sides hit the spot. I always love a good soy bean soup! The ambiance is modern, yet homey. I could see myself coming back with my friends for late night food and drinks or bringing the family for a nice, wholesome dinner. I can finally make a legit review after visiting here about 5-6 times. The first time I visited was a bit of a challenge. It was when they first opened, so staff and service were a bit of a struggle. I didn't hold it against them due to this. Second time visiting was during off-peak hours and maybe this was also not a good idea because staff was in a rush to switch shifts and made mistakes, rushed us, and dropped food in the process. And finally the next several times we came back, we learned what time suited us and the staff were more attentive and fast. I really enjoy the food, prices, and overall experience here for quality kbbq. My only complaint would be the consistency in service. The staff were quick, however the cooks (or the back) took forever on getting food prepared when ordered. This happened several times in all multiple visits here. Last night, we went and ordered premium combo $97 and the server cooked one round and barely came back once it got a bit busy, I understood it was a bit busy don't mind cook the meat ourselves for a few rounds but it became our job to cook and and the servers just looked at us cooking and just let us keep cooking and they just walked away. One of guys even came and said " don't worry, we will cook for you and ended up not. The servers walked around and just changed the grill. The price we paid for is including the service that they cook for us like Baekjeong or other kbbq places. The service was very slow and just didn't enjoy. *One of the servers, she came at last and cut the bone-in marinated short rib before cooking without asking and left (not even cooking for us), that was unbearable. I'm glad they opened a location closer to Cerritos compared to Irvine. This location is much much better in my opinion. The sides are fresher and there's more variety. The quality of meat is good, I opted for the cheapest ($25/p) and none of it was super tough-- although I'm not a fan of the type of beef belly they have. I also am not a big fan of the type of grittle/grate they use, it doesn't allow for a great sear but at least there's an even cook throughout. The service is pretty good I have no complaints. There is plenty of parking and I like how spacious this place is. Its bright and ventilation system is good with the meat grilling. They are still in the soft opening and not everything is on the menu yet. The owner is super chill guy and the service was excellent. I do like they offer ayce and à la carte. Came on a Sunday afternoon to celebrate a friend's birthday. We were a party of 12. Service was top tier! Within a few minutes of sitting down our waiter asked for our order and was very patient with our large group. He was able to correctly note our orders of meat, rice, and soup. Our orders of meat also came within a few minutes upon ordering. I was so shocked at how fast the service was! Especially since my husband and I experienced poor service at a very popular AYCE KBBQ restaurant back in May. All of our meat was solid quality and I was so impressed that they even had beef tongue on their menu! Also, they allowed us to store the cake we brought for our friend in their fridge! When it was time for cake our waiter even cleared our dirty plates and dishes and brought us clean plates and forks! Service was truly above and beyond. I've been watching this new location unravel as it took the place of a kbbq spot I frequented as a teen. The ambiance is nice, very well lit for a kbbq spot and very modern. Upon arrival, there wasn't a host, so it too a couple of minutes to be seated. There was a big party that arrived shortly after us, it took the servers about 20 minutes to get our first order of meat in. They were very apologetic about taking so long to get to us. My friend and I were set on ordering from the $25.99 menu, we thought wrong, unfortunately it is only available Mon-Fri 11:30-3pm & Mon-Sun 10pm-closing. This isn't clear on the menu in my opinion. It's on the upper right corner of the menu page in small font. It felt like the servers were rushing/pushing us out by our second round of ordering meat. We had gotten a grill change and were waiting for the grill to heat up, the server had come and tossed the plate of meat (2/3 beef belly 1/3 beef tongue) onto the grill (I didn't plan on eating the beef tongue my friend did) and we weren't able to decipher which was which so I guess tongue was on the menus for me today! My friends and I started a KBBQ club a couple years back - every month, we try a new KBBQ spot in our area (there are plenty!) and rank the best ones. Well this month, we tried the new Shik Do Rak, and WOW this is by far our favorite spot!! New go-to!! We've already been back twice since trying it for the first time. Incredible food, great selection of meats for AYCE, delicious banchan served right to your table (many places now are converting to "buffet-style" for banchan where you go get the sides yourself- not here!), and wonderful fast service. It's a small place and can get crowded on a busy weekend night, but the ambiance still feels intimate and fun.
