Haiku: Shik Do Rak New kid on the block Brisket is nice and tender Affordable meals. --- There's a new KBBQ joint in town, and I'm excited about it. My kid loves this place too. I've come a couple of times, and this place is solid. I usually get the AYCE menu option 3-2 (29 kinds) $33.99. It has all my favorite cuts of meat--Prime Brisket, B/L Short Rib, Finger Meat, and Marinated B/L Short Rib. My fave way to enjoy the meats is to wrap them in the rice wrapper with the pickled radish, some greens, and dip them into the salted sesame oil. It's just perfection. The sides are good and complement the meal. Service is good when it's not busy. They sometimes come around to the table and help cook your food. When business picks up, you'll most likely have to flag someone down. This place is great for big groups; there are large tables available. They have good air circulation and fans. The vent is extendable, and you can pull it down closer to the grill to suck up all the smells. Come early, it gets crowded closer to meal times.

My hubby and I decided to go back there for Friday lunch, basic AYCE $25.99, which are including beef briskets, bulgogi, pork belly, spicy porkbelly, soy marinated pork belly, chicken, mushrooms, onions, salad, rice papers, kimchi stew, bean paste stew, and rice. We were the 1st customers today. All the side dishes were soooo fresh, tasty, especially cucumber pickles....OMG! Sooo good. Brisket, bulgogi, pork belly all are sooooo tender. Our server was super attentive, friendly. We were so happy for Friday's Lunch. Last time I mentioned about the taste of kimchi stew and we both noticed kimchi stew was so rich, deep flavor, I want to give 5 stars this time. Thanks for listening to my feedback. Thank you so much. Everything was awesome. Great job! Any negative aspects. Fresh, tender, flavorful, excellent service.... We left w full stomach and a big smile, we won't need the dinner tonight....haha. so full, so happy! Love this BBQ place near our home!!!

I love this place, it truly became a go to kbbq spot for me and my finance. The staff works hard and checks on you regularly. The meats are lean and delicious and the sides are just the perfect combination of pickled and sweet. Also finally a Kbbq spot that doesn't feel like a night club, it is incredibly well lit and love the wood everywhere. Highly recommend a casual kbbq spot.

Today lunch for $25.99 AYCE was awesome. The briskets, pork belly, and bulgogi were so tender, marinated well. The quality of meats was premium. Last time I noticed kimchi stew was almost watery texture wo any flavors, but today my wife and I both liked it. Finally the stew got rich broth, little pork meats, and tofu together. I give 5 stars. Thanks for fixing the flavors after our feedback. The service and side dishes were so good. Our server was so attentive, friendly. All the side dishes, fish cakes, cucumber pickles, mungbean sprouts, and kimchi are all so fresh, so flavorful. All 5 stars!!! We couldn't eat the 2nd round for our meats due to the rice papers. I love love the soft chewy rice papers. It made me soooo full. Haha...finished a lot. My wife and I really enjoyed all the foods today. Hopefully they continue the quality of foods and service. Pros Parking, safety, service, price: 5 stars Menu: basic $25.99, $33.99, more premium are available. Ambiance: casual Cons: not really found Great BBQ place for family, friend gathering.

Ordered the basic $33.99 ayce menu which had plenty of variety of meat and dishes. The banchan was absolutely delicious--perfectly seasoned and they were not stingy with refilling them. The meat was fresh, and nicely cut and seasoned. What really stood out was the service. The staff was attentive, checking in on us regularly.

I use to always go to the garden grove location years ago so was happy to hear this place opened up a few months ago nearby. It's in the same plaza as the La Palma Hannam Chain. I came with a few gfs on a Sunday afternoon. The place is pretty big and accommodate large parties so was pretty excited. We got seated as soon as majority arrived. There are 3 options of AYCE meat combos so we ordered the middle one. I love their brisket! The quality of the meat is good as well. I was slightly disappointed they didn't have LA galbi in the middle tier. Everything was good but nothing really stood out. We also ordered dongchimi noodles after but this does not come in the combo and is a separate charge. The reason for the 3 stars is because of the service. This was a Sunday afternoon and there were only 2 people serving so the service was slow. They really tried but they should have more people on a weekend during peak hours helping. I would still come back again cuz the prices were decent and it was still good.

They give a laminated shorter menu based on which AYCE option your table chooses. (Menu as of Jan 2026)

Wasn't particularly looking to eat KBBQ twice in a week, but always down for it! Went looking for dinner options and was in the area for Shik Do Rak. Location is pretty easy to get to, it shares a large lot with the Super 1 Market. The restraurant is along Moody St, but you can enter the parking lot through La Palma Ave. Just be wary that everyone is trying to get a spot close to the restaurant or is dropping people off then finding parking, so it gets really congested near the spots in front of Shik Do Rak. I've read from other reviews that this is a newer location and it did feel like it was new. The space is a medium sized space, with seating along the walls and in the center. I got there around 6:30pm and was on the waitlist for about 20ish mins, which isn't bad for peak dinner time. I killed time in the Super 1 market. There are two menus to choose from in terms of what meats are available. I believe we went with the 3-2 options which had 29 menu options. There is a cheaper option for 16 menu items, but it looks to be available weekdays 11:30a - 3:00p and then from 10p - close every day. I imagine everyone tries to do the 10p menu at $25.99. Meats were really good quality, not too fatty for some of the cuts. They seemed all fresh, bright vibrant red coloring to the meats before cooking. All the banchan laid out in gold serving dishes, as well as sauce trays. The service was great, as the servers maintained each tables grills by changing them, without asking sometimes which was nice. Side were refilled frequently, and so was the water cups. I do wish they left a water pitcher at the table...through the meal my cup gradually accumulated more and more ice causing me to go through water so quick. Meats were brought out quick as well, we never waited more than 5 mins and never had to ask twice. Definitely a good kbbq spot in La Palma to go to. I would want to see how it is for the lunch/dinner happy hour times.

I've been a regular at SDR since I was a kid at the OG Garden Grove location. I was so excited to hear they opened a new location close to my parent's house! Every time I go, it's always the premium beef combo with some à la carte pork belly & dong chi mi noodles!!! The meat quality at that price point can't be beat. Having the noodles as the closer washes everything down so well. The new restaurant has a lighter ambience with a hometown vibe, I love it! I will be back over and over again to satisfy my kbbq cravings on this side of town.

So we're frequent flyers at the Garden Grove one and we're excited to try the new one. I'm so happy it tastes just as good but is like 1,000x's cleaner! They put a lot into this restaurant and it shows. The flavor of the chili sauce is exact same. That was the most important to us. The food is all fresh and the banchan comes out ice cold and crisp. "Judy" was our server and she was exceptional. The vibe of the restaurant is contemporary but very welcoming. We will def be coming back!

    Starts with Brisket

Visited the recently opened Shik Do Rak in LaPalma. It's in the same mall as the Hannam Chain supermarket. Very clean and superb service. Tables are well spaced to give you a little room but still feels like a bustling restaurant. Meat quality was good, like B+ level. Once again the service needs to be complimented here as the meats were grilled perfectly. Banchan was good to great. But the steamed egg was mid at best. Will be visiting again to try other dishes.

I swore off Shik Do Rak after a bad experience at their GG location a few years ago but my cousin said their new location in La Palma is so much better and she was right! We came at 7 on a Saturday night and there was little to no wait. The restaurant is pretty small for a kbbq restaurant. It's modern and very clean! They have a combo and AYCE menu. We got ordered the large SDR menu and it was plentiful for 4 people. We really liked the marinated short rib. The quality of their meats are top notch. Super tender and had good marbling. The service here is great and the staff was on top of everything. They come around with a cart to refill your banchan. They don't have a blueberry froyo machine (yet) at this location Overall would come back again! Shik Do Rak, you've redeemed yourselves!!

As I get older, I have realized that a five out of five restaurant does not have to be Michelin listed or have three or four dollar signs. What matters more to me now is that it is approachable, reasonably priced, and somewhere close enough that you actually want to come back. I am grateful that I live nearby because I have probably come here three or four times already. Every time I have dined here with friends, it has been a great experience. The servers are very attentive and the atmosphere is extremely cozy. You can tell they invested a lot into the interior design, especially the lighting. It feels warm and welcoming. When you dine out, you are not just paying for the food. You are also paying for the setting and the overall vibe, and this place really gives that comfortable and homey feeling. My go to order is definitely the beef belly. I could honestly eat it all day. The side dishes are also excellent. One thing I really appreciate is that they will cut the onions for you if you ask. Onion halves or large slices may look pretty, but they are harder to eat and you end up cutting them anyway, so having them prepared that way already is actually a very smart idea. Another great thing is the location. There is a Korean market right next door and a boba shop in the same plaza, so you can easily stop by both places. There are also plenty of parking spots, which is always a plus. The only small downside is that sometimes they run out of rice paper for wrapping. I love rice paper. I probably should not, but carbs equal happiness. Overall, I highly recommend this place over many other Korean barbecue spots in Orange County. I am still curious about Wynn in Buena Park and Kalbi Social Club in Irvine, but for now this is definitely my number one go to spot.

    Natalie L.

Shik Do Rak is hands-down one of my absolute favorite KBBQ spots, and it just keeps getting better. The quality here is consistently top-tier. You can really taste the difference in their meat quality compared to other places. I also love how attentive the staff always is, and they keep everything flowing without you ever having to ask. It's clean, spacious, and they kept everything I already loved about the original spots. If you love great meat, great service, and that signature Shik Do Rak quality, you won't be disappointed. I could eat here every week!

It's in a small, almost empty-ish plaza, but it's a little mom-and-pop gem. Ambiance (5/5): Walk right in and you'll see that it's on the small side, but a cute and simple restaurant with family vibes. Depending on the time of day, it can feel somewhat empty while at other times somewhat busy. Service (3/5): It's nothing too special, but the workers are always friendly. It's somewhat self serve. You order at the front and then you wait for them to call your order. Then you pick up your tray of food, eat, and place the trays towards the front when done. Food (5/5): Everything we have eaten here over the years is so yummy. Their hot stone bibimbap is chock-full of ingredients with just the right amount of sesame oil and flavor; we often have to pack some of it to go. Their army stew (budaejigae) is my absolute favorite, and I've compared it to a lot of other Korean stew places, some way pricier and this one still takes the cake. It has a wonderful roasted flavor from all the meats they put in and I love going for the ramen first. I always take extra to go since it's small but filling. The best part? Let's not forget that they have self serve all-you-can-eat banchan (side dishes) and they do not skimp on variety. There's your usuals like the napa kimchi, radish kimchi and fish cakes, but they also have mac salad, potato salad, japchae and other goodies which works well for your picky toddlers. Overall, this is a wonderful little restaurant that deserves a visit over and over when you're just craving some comfort korean food at decent prices.

The cheese corn was okay, but compared to PaDak and other local Korean spot I say skip this. The cheese tasted weird to me and I did t like that it was also a kraft American cheese. As a cheese lover, I only expect that square cheese to be on a burger or cheese melt. The Bulgolgi Fries could serve 3 people. But it was drenched with sauce, and spicy sauce. We ordered the naengmyeon combo with spicy marinated pork and a side of soybean paste stew. The lady was nice when she seated us, but seemed a little bothered when we only ordered the above items, because she coldly asked "if that was all" and we said yes. She walked away then yells back asking if we wanted rice because rice wasn't included, and we said no. Despite the rough start with the vibe of the lady who took our order I was still hopeful the food itself would make up for it. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre at best. I've never had naengmyeon that had so much chili flakes, and as someone who doesn't mind them, it was weird. The soybean paste soup was bland. And the side dishes were just okay. After the meal, I got really thirsty and my face was puffy so they are using msg. If it was a good meal, I wouldn't have minded the msg, but for food that was mediocre at best was not worth it. And it does get busy during the usual nights & weekends so expect that. Overall, delicious food with a home cooked feel and good service. I'd say my only gripe is that parking can get busy, but there's plenty of parking throughout the plaza.

If you are from Korea, you will definitely feel at home and experience authentic Korean 'bunsik' here. I would give 10 stars if I could. Don katsu, Tuna, spicy ssam are our goto menu!

The first thing I noticed was how big the menu is -- lots of variety, which I liked. I ended up ordering the keto kimbap, sesame leaf kimbap, and tuna kimbap. The price per roll wasn't exactly cheap, but each one was packed with ingredients, so it felt worth it. The portions were generous too -- I ordered thinking it would be enough for two people, but honestly it could've fed three. The flavors were very clean and well-balanced overall. They also gave me some fish cake soup on the side when I asked, which was a nice touch. The only downside was the wait. It felt like it took about 20 minutes, probably because they were backed up with orders. That said, it seemed like a small, family-run place with just a couple people working, so it wasn't a huge deal. Overall, a really solid experience.
