    Kimchi Stew

Friday, July 14, 2023 - 4 for dinner: First time here, we have been seeking a good Korean spot in the Sarasota area. This is the third entry. We arrived and were pleasantly greeted and seated. Clean utensils and placeware. Nicely spaced and organized seating. Our server was wonderful and helpful with the menu and options. The girls had some adult beverages. We got a seafood pancake and some pot-stickers for appetizers. I got a tofu vegetable stir fry that was prepared with nice ingredients and tofu product. The spice was nice and not too overpowering. The vegetables properly cooked and fresh but they were a bit soggy. The overall sauce was a little wet and the tofu was dark and a bit tough on the outside. 6/10 Another person got a kimchi soup/stew that was amazingly hot and fresh. He commented very tasty and as expected. He said he would order this again and would also look for this dish at other Korean restaurants. 9/10 The girls both got the traditional bibimbap with runny egg. This as as expected in a smoking hot pot with all kinds of ingredients. They reported the meat was a little tough and disappointing almost a minute steak or Philly cheesteak tough product. There was a lot of rice as well proportionately to the bowl size and a few more vegetables would have been nice. The rice was almost charred and burned on the bottom and not really edible. This was not the best or highest rated bimimbap my wife has had. 5/10. We like this place and it was good compared to other restaurants but out of the three so far in Sarasota, Osprey, Venice area it is in third place.

Impeccable service. We felt as if we were home, not only with the ambiance, but with the delicious food! Our server was the sweetest, she taught our son how to properly hold chopsticks. Sure to be a memory he will never forget Everyone's foot was amazing. They took into consideration my son's shellfish allergy, food came out pretty fast and oh boy was it tasty!!! We will be back whenever in the area

The best Galbi I've ever had!

Our new favorite spot for Korean food! We've gotten takeout several times and it's always excellent, we recently dined in for the first time. The ambiance was very nice-- it was dim, spacious, and perfect for date night. My fiancé and I ordered the Galbi, Tteok Manduguk, and seafood pancake. The Galbi was tender, flavorful, and the BEST Galbi I've ever had. The seafood pancake was crispy, did not skimp on any fillings, and is a must try! The Tteok Manduguk was also very good. The broth was light in flavor, but the fillings really brought it to life. The dumplings inside the soup were delicious as well. Can't wait to try more menu items!

Finding a needle in a haystack could be easier than finding an authentic Korean restaurant in Sarasota County. We found one, hidden behind Wendy's in a strip mall next to Beals. There was plenty of free parking and no reservation was needed. Bulgoki is my go-to item at a Korean restaurant. Marinated beef in special Korean sauce, this dish was done right plus the portion size was hearty. The white rice was hot and cooked properly. A Seoul vibe inside with the restaurant broadcasting Korean TV on both ends of the dining room they create exactly the ambience you would expect to accompany your Asian meal. Service was slow, but in this case our server apologized for the Sunday night rush. She explained that other nights are usually faster to get your food to the table. With that in mind, we'll be back on another night. Salute!

Very. good. Will return. I was hungry for bibinbop and Shilla was a good call. Quaint minimalist atmosphere with nice Asian art. Service was helpful and just right. We had the seafood pancake as an appetizer and it was creamy with a nice sauce. They have things that are more common to Americans like my wife's sesame chicken with nice vegetables chopped thin and easy to eat. My bb was served crispy on the bottom on a stone dish. Kimchi offerings were both fermented and also made daily. Lots of specialty Korean dishes. Friendly. .

Finding Los Angels or NYC (or even Duluth GA) grade tasteful Korean restaurant in Sarasota is a wrong search to begin with. However, Shilla offers a unique value which you don't easily find even in Los Angeles, CA, NYC, or Duluth GA. To me, authentic Korean food means the taste that brings back my old memories. It can be from nice restaurants, street foods, or my mom's homemade meals. That being said, have you ever wondered what is like to eat homecooked Korean meals? Shilla is one of the rare Korean restaurants in US you can experiene. Some customers might complain Jjajangmyun or seafood Jjamgppong does not taste like authentic ones. Kimchi might taste different from what they used to eat from other Korean restaurants. To me, Jjajangmyun taste brought back my memory how my mom used to make it for me (used less oil and tried to make it healthier). I knew from the first bite, this wasn't the restaurant style food but it had a well balanced flavor. Jjajangmyun noodles weren't even the restaurant style either but I knew I was eating homecooked style food and was happy. Lastly, they don't even differentiate the charge on what kind of meat used on Jjajangmyun (you can pick either beef or pork, normally other restaurants charge more on beef). They also offer a bowl of rice for free if you want it. That shows the restaurant owner truly cares her customers. I am glad they survived pandemic last year and I am sure more and more customers will enjoy their food. Here are the tips: Parking: Free of charge and plenty of spaces Food: Homecooked style meals Ambiance: Not a fancy restaurant but it is average Service: Attentive and personable Price: Average ($$)

    Seafood pancake - delicious!

Excellent all around! The service was very knowledgeable and helpful! The potato pancake was wonderful! The Dolsot Bibimbap was recommended and I found it exceptional! If you are following Waze directions it is a little south of where it directs you.

Probably one of three successful restaurants in this Bealls strip plaza. Definitely worth the time to try this unassuming, clean and attentive family owned and operated restaurant. The food is well made and the seasoning is done to your taste. So if you want mild, I actually got it. And if you want it hot, they will bring it to you. The service is excellent. Very attentive and patient to explain the various menu choices and how the food is served. I still consider myself a newbie in the Korean food arena and I was not intimidated and was put at ease right away. I loved every dish that was presented and already made plans for the next visit. Go, try it and you will see, local and authentic is great.

My bf got the #29 with veggies and tofu and I got the #37 with veggies

If you like ramen, great service, a cute authentic cultural atmosphere, and Boba tea, then THIS is…read morethe place to be! Brief Summary: Kyuramen is a small chain restaurant that brings flavor to every bite and sip that you have here. Between the cute Japanese style interior, the mouth watering food, and the sweet and delicious boba you sip on the way out, it's hard to fight the urge to eat here every single day! Trust me on this one y'all. You can thank me later! Would I Recommend This Restaurant? Absolutely! The Food: The food here is nothing short of incredible! I'm very picky about ramen. So if I say it's good, you can bet your paycheck that you'll love it too! Let's start with the star of the show, the ramen. I had the curry ramen, which I ordered because it sounded unique and I've never had a curry ramen before. I got this with the fried Katsu, and OH MY GOODNESS ME WAS IT GOOD! So good that I ate the ENTIRE thing in one sitting like the little piggy I am! I also had the rest of the table agreeing that the ramen I got was the best one. Off you like curry, do yourself a favor and get that curry ramen! Okay, moving on. We also had the spicy garlic edamame. Now, I generally don't eat edamame because I think it's pretty lackluster and boring, HOWEVER the edamame here is PACKED with flavor. So much so that I could have eaten the entire bowl myself. Not something I thought I'd ever say in my lifetime! Lastly, I got the brown sugar boba tea. This is another area where I'm a bit of a snob because of how picky I can be, and once again, they rose to the challenge! The boba was delicious! So much so that I don't think I can possibly dive here again without getting a boba tea! It's very rare that I'm this impressed with literally everything I try at a restaurant. It's even more rare when it's at a place that just opened. But trust me on this one y'all. Do yourself a flavor, pun intended, and order as much food as you can eat at this gem of a restaurant! Value: I felt that the value of the food quality and quantity that I got for the money was right on par, and that's honestly how I like it. It needs to be balanced so that customers feel happy with the value they receive, and businesses make enough profit to stay in business. It should never hurt either side. I think Kyuramen has nailed the balance quite well. They also offer a rewards program, so make sure you download the app and sign up to get those points! Also, as a bonus, some ramen bowls have a hidden surprise at the bottom that is typically a coupon for a free or discounted item! It's a fun little way to surprise you with a little extra value and I love it! Service and Staff: Having great staff is essential for any restaurant experience. They play an important part in the overall dining experience and that should not be underestimated. The staff here are some of the friendliest people in the world! I had some great conversations with them. They even talked to my elderly grandfather in his native language of Chinese, which put the biggest smile on his face! On top of this, the one girl even went through the trouble of making me a large brown sugar boba tea. Something that isn't even on the menu. She said she could do something similar to get it to work for me. I don't know what kind of sorcery she did back there, but I got my large boba, and I was one happy camper! Overall, the staff here are amazing, and I hope the owner holds on to them! Location and Interior: The location isn't bad and there is an okay amount of parking. I went when it wasn't really busy, but on a busy day, parking might be a bit tight. The interior however, is STUNNING! I ate here back when it was a different restaurant, and it's truly incredible what they've done with the place! It makes me feel like I'm actually in Japan. It's so flippin cute! The booths also have a curtain for added privacy. It's a small touch that makes a HUGE difference on your overall experience. It's so cute, and I just love it! Final Thoughts: This place is just an absolute gem. I truly can't say enough great things about this place. The owners should be proud of what they've created and of the dedicated staff that run this place. I can't wait to come back, and to hopefully win a free bowl of ramen this time! Lol P.S. Save room for the boba tea! Final Scores: Food - 10/10 Value - 5/5 Service/Staff - 5/5 Location/Interior 5/5 Total 25/25 = 5/5 Stars Stay fresh Mother Fooders! :p
