Apparently this is a taco. I've been vegan 9 years- have never encountered this. This isn't a taco... this is a salad. There was one micro corn tortilla hidden under the salad broken and drenched. Not worth your money, better off going to del taco and getting a beyond avocado taco and I never promote fast food. Smh. I tried eating it and it was so bland and disappointing. Came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning, there was no line and food came out quickly (counter service). We ate outside as the inside dining area was rather stuffy. The outdoor tables offered lovely views. The food was soooo good. I ordered the buckwheat pancakes which you can customize with fruit and toppings. They were some of the best pancakes I've ever had. This place was AMAZING! My Husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and had to check out Shine. We decided to go around brunch time and tried their famous taco and açaí bowl. The food was so flavorful, colorful and fresh that we had to come back the next day for more during our trip! All the dishes coming from the kitchen were piping hot and mouth watering. I don't think one dish went by without me drooling over it and wondering what it might be or telling myself "I have got to try that one next time!" Even if you aren't the biggest fan of vegan/vegetarian cuisine, you will find something you love here. I'm not either of those and I have a couple go to items I would eat every week. Everything they make is super fresh, like farmer's market fresh and high quality. They make their own awesome salad dressings too and salsa. Their cilantro dressing is amazing -- they should definitely sell it in their health food store -- I would buy it constantly (and it goes even better when you mix the salsa into the dressing). My main go to item is the tempeh taco which is really a salad over a tortilla. But the tortilla is homemade goodness. I usually end up eating the tortilla with some of the toppings and dressing/avocado and then take the rest to go to be enjoyed for a couple more excellent meals. The tempeh/quinoa mix tastes amazing cold or hot. And their jack fruit carnitas tacos are also amazing! In addition, their smoothies are excellent. My favorite is the Green Dragon which has a nice kick of ginger. If you look, you're sure to find something amazing (and healthy). It's by far the best health-conscious restaurant that actually has amazing tasting food in the county! read more

Loved it!! Needed a vegan restaurant that was truly vegan! Great beachy feel with perfect choices for breakfast or lunch as well as gluten free options or sprouted wheat breads. Wow this has been my best COVID era resturant experience. I feel like every other resturant we have ordered take out from they have skimped on the presentation, quantity and quality but not here! I got the vegetable spring rolls and they were perfect! Even though they were out of the tempeh and substituted it for something I'm not sure of what it was it wasn't overpowering and very subtle. Tons of veggies, good spice. The sesame ginger dipping sauce was perfect. I'm so pleased. I eat mostly 90% raw vegan and am therefore very sensitive to sub-par quality vegan food and heavy vegan meals- I had no issues after eating here. I felt great afterwards. We came here for breakfast while staying in Morro Bay and what a treat! The portions were huge and the food was delicious! My husband and I shared a banana walnut buckwheat pancake and the ranchero plate. We ordered half orders of each and it was plenty of food! The prices were incredible for the quality and portion size! Healthy affordable food is such a joy to come across! My only disappointment is that I can't come here more often. If I lived nearby, this would be a place I would visit weekly! We didn't get to try the juice bar, but noticed many locals coming in for juice. Some bringing their own to go containers. Run! This place totally hit the spot after doing the hike in Morro Bay :-) during this pandemic, it's been tough to find restaurants that have well-adjusted to our current circumstances but this restaurant definitely does it. You can see very easily that this restaurant is a dear part of this community here in central California. The storefront is really cute and painted very bright and the service is very kind. On top of that, I was amazed by how delicious their vegan food is. I ordered their famous tempeh tacos and was super satisfied. The tempeh was not too salty and it went perfect with all the greens that they placed in the salad taco. I especially love the garlic cream that they place on top of the tacos and their corn tortilla was very substantial. I'm also sharing some other pictures of food from this restaurant. I myself am not vegan but I feel like it would be very easy to become one if my food was like this every day. This place is super legit. Why do you have to be so far away in Morro Bay? :( This was another Yelp find during a recent LA trip down Highway 1. The cafe is located in the heart of downtown Morro Bay. We ordered the famous Tempeh Taco, one of the green/avocado smoothies, and a carrot soup. I wanted to try some of their truffle style desserts, but I decided to save those for my next visit. Despite the long wait, the Tempeh Taco was totally worth it! The tempeh was the best I have ever had-- homemade, hot, and fresh! It was nothing like the nasty, petrified tempeh served at other locales. The veggies were super fresh, the tortilla was tasty, and the dressing made the dish! Wow, I wish they could ship some tacos up to San Jose. Beware-- the "taco" is more like an open-faced burrito. We also enjoyed the carrot soup (made with cashew milk) and the smoothie. Service was very friendly and accommodating. The sidewalk seating in the front was pleasant. My mom and I were visiting Morro Bay Beach and we wanted to have something healthy. Found Shine Cafe on YELP and went for the Vegan Jackfruit Street Tacos. They were super tasty! The had corn tortilla, marinated jackfruit "meat", red onion, cilantro and a side of salsa. So bomb. Let me explain why only 2 stars. The food is actually very fresh and very good here. But I definitely ordered the wrong thing! I wanted a light meal so got the spring rolls. Light, right? Well! Beware that sauce that comes with them! They gave me half a cup of it for two rolls. I assumed it was homemade, made of tofu or perhaps cashews. Did not think to ask at the time. It was definitely tasty. But guess what? It is made of Vegannaise which has 90 calories and 9 g. of fat per tablespoon. So 4 oz. of this stuff had 720 calories and 72 grams of fat! Not exactly a light meal! I felt pretty gross the rest of the day. If you choose to order this and care about eating healthy, make sure and go very easy on that sauce or ask for a substitution! Heck for 720 calories of a condiment, I could have had a vegan burger and fries or quite a lot of pizza or even a big piece of vegan chocolate cake or vegan cheesecake! read more

My boyfriend and I stopped here on our way through town. Neither of us are vegan or GF. He had the Kale Salad and a bagel, and I had the Black Bean Tostada. Although they were just closing up when we arrived, the food was fresh and amazing. He said the salad was one of the best he has had. (I stole a bite of the bagel and it wasn't just a bagel. It had some veggies on it and whatever spread they put on it.. I need an entire tub of that.) Now, I will be honest right off the bat and let you know that I am definitely not vegan but this happens to be one of my favorite weekend breakfast spots. If you are a newbie and looking to explore this jewel, I suggest the following: Order a buckwheat pancake. You have several topping options such as bananas, strawberries, blueberries, carob chips, and walnuts. Different butters/spreads and syrups. I lean more towards bananas, walnuts, Earth Balance spread and Agave syrup. Order the tofu breakfast scramble. Half an order is plenty. Comes with tofu, seasonal veggies, topped with fresh avocado and sesame seeds on a fresh corn sprout tortilla. Yum. Tofu is not what you would think it would look like. You actually feel and fast a breakfast scramble. Soooooo gooood! For lunch.... Spring rolls. End of story. That's it. Everything here is good. Everything. They also have a smoothie bar with a wide array of juice/smoothie selection. Seating is ok on most days but watch out for peak hours. Good thing they have plenty of seating outside. If you live in Morro, I suggest you walk if you live nearby unless you want to parallel park amongst tourists visiting on the weekends. Every once in a while you come across an organic eating option and this cafe really shines through. I simply loved the idea and had an eextensive choice of smoothies to try it out. I had no trouble finding Shine Cafe in the middle of a cute downtown area, and parking was easy. Many things on the menu looked tempting, but I opted for the daily special, which was a green curry served over brown rice. It was pieces of potato, sweet potato and eggplant in a homemade green curry sauce. It was good, but it tasted like something was lacking...maybe salt? Definitely tasty but sorry, not amazing enough for 5 stars. I also had the homemade iced tea, which that day was a Lavender/Holy Basil/Mate and was served in a mason jar. Good stuff!
