My daughter is having her wedding reception at The Ship Rock Grille in August, so on one of my recent trips to CO, we decided to visit the venue to firm up some details. It was not very busy, since it was a Saturday in March, so we chose to eat at the grille. I ordered the elk burgers and I have to say that they were amazing! My expectations of the restaurant were not really that high to begin with since I was aware that it was obviously a grille/bar type atmosphere, so I wasn't disappointed at all in the service or food. Would I eat there again, probably so. I'm definitely looking forward to the wedding in August, which I know will be amazing and I'm sure that the onsite caterer won't disappoint. read more

My husband and son took me to Easter Brunch here today. We were all very disappointed. Not much assortment of foods and not great quality. Dessert bar was meager. Had to ask 3 times for the vanilla ice cream to be replenished. Took too long then they brought chocolate to go with their blueberry and peach cobblers. Yuck! It included one glass of very poor quality prosecco. Paid $128 for 3 people and we left saying this brunch has gone downhill and won't bother to ever go back. Much better choices around Denver than the Shiprock Grill. read more

Absolute worst service I've ever had in my entire life......no that is not an exaggeration. A group of 4 of us decided to stop at lunch on a Thursday. We were finally seated on the patio and placed our drink order after 15 minutes of seeing no one. Our waitress forgot one of the waters....didn't see her for 10 more minutes...she forgot it again...we reminded her and waited 10 more minutes....Then I actually got up and went to the bar and got the water myself while staring at the waitress. IT DIDNT REGISTER TO HER WHAT I WAS DOING. We waited 30 more minutes until we saw our waitress. We complained and never heard an apology. Another waitress had to come fill our drinks and we asked her to see a manager. When the manager came over we told her everything that had happened and she just looked at us and said "would you guys like anything else to drink?" No apology, nothing. There were a lot more instances including a missing meal that was never put in. They wanted to give us French fries as an apology, and said they can comp a "couple meals". I swear I have never ever had such awful service anywhere. I could go on forever about how awful this place is...Almost 2 hours for 4 meals and 2 rounds of WATER.....Go there to see a concert or the view, do NOT eat here. Trust me. read more

My family & I just ate here for lunch on non busy day. Service was borderline terrible. We sat for 20 min before a waiter finally greeted us. Then the food took another 40 minutes to arrive. We had the SW Turkey BLT, the nachos, and the Colorado beef sandwich. No one liked their choice. The manager was unapologetic about the tardiness of the food and offered no discount. Well, to anyone who has never been and planning a wonderful evening enjoying dinner before a concert, THINK AGAIN! On my first visit from out of state, I bought tickets to the concert, then made reservations at the Grille, so the whole evening would be amazing. Boy, was I surprised (and not in a good way) about the entire thing. I received an email confirmation from a manager at the Grille for dinner reservations...no details included. Upon arrival at Red Rocks, the confusion began, and just got worse and worse. After parking in a ditch, then wandering for 30 minutes trying to find the Grille, we finally found an entrance gate with park personnel there. I told them we had dinner reservations, and the rude lady said "get in line". Well there were about 300 people already in line for the concert. While standing in line, we found many other people who also had dinner reservations. we all went back up to the gate and told them, and they kept saying it didn't matter if we had reservations or not, we had to get in line with all the concert people to wait, even though it would be well after our reservations for dinner before we got in. I then called the restaurant and made my way through dozens of prompts before getting a nasty girl by the name of Jenna on the phone. She then said just tell them at the gate we had reservations and what time they were, and they would let us in. We did so and the rude lady again told us to get back in line. Now even farther back in line and already 15 minutes past our reservation time, I called again and spoke with a nasty manager there who said that we get in when they let everyone in, regardless of reservations or time we had them for, and could have cared less if we ever got in and then hung up. Well, 45 minutes after our dinner reservation, we got through the gate finally. When arriving at the restaurant, we were shocked to find that it wasn't really a restaurant at all, just a large event room with large banquet tables covered with cheap tablecloths and uncomfortable wedding reception chairs!!!! what a let-down. There was a huge beautiful patio outside the windows overlooking the mountains, but they don't seat people out there??!!! The only saving grace was our sweet server named Laura. She was amazing and kept apologizing for everything, even though she didn't have anything to do with it and that would have been the manager's job if he was competent, which he obviously wasn't. The food was bland and overpriced, and by the time we got the food and ate, we missed almost 40 minutes of the concert. All in all, I would say to STAY AWAY FROM THIS "RESTAURANT" AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!! Eat before you come and make sure to come early regardless if you have general admission or assigned seats. read more

I wanted to share my great disappointment regarding my dinner experience at the Ship Rock Grille. I made reservations two months ago after I purchase concert tickets. I took my friend for her birthday and after looking at the online menu, we were excited to eat at the restaurant for the first time. I arrived for my reservation SURPRISED to find out that our only choice was a buffet for the hefty price of $35.00 per person. I asked why I was not informed earlier, and was told that they called everyone to let them know. (I have no message on either of my phones.) Not wanting to disappoint my friend for her birthday, we stayed. The two of us were seated at a six top at the back of the restaurant, which was not particularly comfortable. We went up for our plates to find unappetizing, overcooked food. The corn salad was crunchy due to being overcooked. The crab cakes looked like sausage patties and the chicken and ribs were rubbery and overdone. The desserts tasted like they had just been removed from the freezer and did not taste good. After dinner, my bill had to be corrected because I had ordered a soft drink, which was supposed to be included in the $35.00 price, but was added to the bill. I paid more than $85.00 for practically inedible food, a beer and two cups of coffee. For that price I wouldn't have expected to compare the food to frozen dinners. This was a memorable experience for all the wrong reasons and I would never choose to have an experience like that again. I took my out-of-town family here in an effort to combine sightseeing with the always-necessary Sunday morning BRUNCH. I'm a brunch girl, and this place did not disappoint. From the wide open, sunny patio overlooking a sweeping view of the foothills to the complimentary mimosa to the delicious homemade berry syrup, this meal was worth the drive from Denver. At $22 a pop, the brunch was a big buffet, and each item (surprisingly, given it was a buffet) was truly delicious. Mahi mahi, made-to-order omelettes, a carving station, fresh waffles, amazing hash browns, veggies galore, biscuits and gravy, and plenty of desserts - this brunch was an amazing way to end our family weekend. read more

Had a great workout on the stairs and decided to drop some money to support the local business. Bought a shirt for a friend, and figured I'd have a salad at the restaurant. Seated on the patio, and eventually greeted by Dino the server, who has a super great personality and very friendly. Ordered my coffee and waited. A few people came in with a dog and were told no dogs on the patio. So they tied the dog to a barrier fence and sat down about 20 feet away. The dog, a Husky, became lonely and started to whine and bark. Owners did nothing to control the dog. Coffee came, I ordered a chicken salad, the couple next to me ordered. Their food came out right away, burger, salad, appetizers beer. No food for me. They finished their entire lunch, no food for me. The ladies next to me finally got their food.....no food for me. The couple went looking for their bill, and returned saying that Dino was the only server for the entire place. There was a huge group inside eating, the place inside was pretty full. From coffee to this point, nobody checked on us for coffee and water, and yes, the dog was still unhappy (poor thing). 50 + minutes, no food, I decide it's time to go. A manager comes out to the couple with their bill, and as I stand up, he tells me he will look for my bill. Ha! , I tell him I never got my food and that I would pay for my coffee and leave. I said over 50 minutes for a salad was way too much. He turned and started to walk away, raised his hand dismissively and said the coffee is taken care of.......a total blow off, no apology, no explanation. I feel bad for Dino, she would have made the dinning experience really fun, providing there was food. I saw one other person take an order, and one other delivering food. Didn't notice any management helping out with such busy conditions. The business really needs to look at the management. They need leadership in addition to managers read more

The night of a show we decided to dine here out of convenience. It was extremely frustrating trying to figure out exactly where the restaurant was located. Half of the parking staff had no idea where the location of the restaurant was. And on top of that most of red rocks entrances were closed and apple maps did nothing to help us find the correct way to get to the restaurant. If you want to dine here you need to park at the UPPER NORTH LOT and actually walk into the entrance of the amphitheater to get to the restaurant. And it's in the basement of what seems to be the museum. I really wish red rocks would update their website with these instructions! I also tried to call and make reservations and never got a call back (when they said they would). And when we arrived at the restaurant they almost acted as if they couldn't fit us in because we didn't make reservations! Thankfully the hostess was very friendly and she sat us anyway. The server we had was very good. Friendly and fast. He accommodated our needs to be in and out in less than 40 minutes (just in time for the show). The food was good but not great. A little pricey for the quality. read more
