    Jumbo Lump Crab Louie

I stayed at The Brown Palace for an extended birthday weekend (Saturday through Tuesday morning), so naturally, I decided to grab a bite at Ship Tavern. I'd read some previous reviews mentioning that the decor feels a bit dated and the food quality can be hit-or-miss, so I went in with managed expectations. However, on the two occasions I popped in during my stay, my experience was excellent. The items were exactly as described on the menu, fresh, and high quality. One evening, I grabbed a light bite and ordered the Jumbo Lump Crab Louie. For my next visit--a late lunch--I opted for the whole 1 lb. Maine Lobster Roll. Both dishes were absolutely delicious and paired beautifully with a crisp glass of Sauvignon Blanc. If you are staying at the hotel, it is definitely worth a visit!

We ordered a Caesar salad with chicken and a French onion soup with an iced tea and lemon. It was a fairly busy day in the restaurant, but the service was not super attentive. The Caesar salad itself was good with very flavorful dressings and crunchy croutons. The chicken that was served with it was awful. It was so dried out that I could barely chew it and I asked for a replacement. The replacement was just as bad as the original serving. The texture was like leather, and some pieces were so hard. They couldn't even be cut with a knife. The French onion soup with flavorful and good. My tea was never refilled, but my friend was which was odd. I had to ask for a teaspoon.

Booth seat. A mess and not comfy.

Could be a great place. Needs a lot of sprucing up, so ambiance was meh. Food was ok. Don't spend the money on The Baywatch - it wasn't cold or great. Cubano with duck fat fries were delish. Cocktails are pricey and small. Service was good.

Got a knife and fork burger here after an event and it was hugeeee and so good! I loved the variety of mushrooms there were inside and the cheese was also melting out from the side so you really need a knife and fork to eat it. I also love how old school-y it felt inside the restaurant and it really matches with the history of the brown palace hotel. Service was great and i definitely will be back to try the other items on the menu!

Awful experience and such a shame because the food was decent. Stopped in for lunch as guests of the Brown Palace and we were so disappointed. The hostesses were nice and helped us get seated quickly but our server was awful with a horrible attitude. It took her forever to approach us and when she did, it was like we were inconveniencing her by being there. Everything took forever including food, drinks, our check- you name it. She stood around and hung out by the hostess stand instead of paying attention to her tables (2). The restaurant was not busy either. Such a shame because the environment has potential to be a cool spot and food was decent, not great.

This is not a review of their food as a whole. Boss Lady and I came in as a respite from the 101 F heat that wanted to unalive us. The joint looks like Captain Black Beard will walk in at any minute. The dark stained wood and seafaring appointments are wonderful. We ordered drinks and some onion rings (to tie us over for dinner). They were really good and seasoned nicely. We'll definitely come back to have prime rib and assorted accoutrement.

The service at this bar was appalling. Located in the historic Brown Palace Hotel, which has been open since 1892, the bar itself has been around since 1934 and is the oldest bar/restaurant in the hotel. Despite its extensive selection of liquor and cozy atmosphere, we were ignored by the waitstaff/hostess. We sat at the bar, ready to order, but were consistently disregarded and received no acknowledgment. Unfortunately, we were unable to try their Espresso Martini, which I had hoped to taste as part of my search for the best one in town.

Cool environment in the Brown Palace. Decent menu. Typical inflated hotel prices. I had the salmon salad, which was awesome!!

Service is always pretty good but the food and decor have definitely sailed in this restaurant. I'd skip the food and rely on the drink.
