I got the shish combo plate and it had all the main meats on it, beef, chicken, kafta kabob. My mouth is watering as I think about it. The meats were all super juicy and tender. Usually chicken would be dry in most places, but here, it was nicely seasoned and soft! Everything was perfectly seasoned and the rice was good as well. Something about the sauce makes me want to smother every thing I eat from here on out with it. Yes, it was that good! It kind of reminds me of mayo, but it wasn't mayo. Great food! Unfortunately the $28 dinner (just one dinner) did not come with bread. But the dinner purchased was made to be eaten with bread ... even came with garlic sauce to go with bread. When I asked for bread they tried charging me an additional fee. Really!? These are the tactics restaurants are using to maximize their profits. This is why I rarely eat out. SHEEEEESH‼ This was my first experience with Lesbian food and my expectations have been exceeded! The place is tucked away in a little marketplace and has a nice cozy ambiance. Walking towards the establishment my mouth would just water from the sheer smells coming out dat jawn. My friend and I got the kibbeh ($12.99), knafeh ($12.99), and the baklava ($4.99). Kibbeh (8/10): KIBBEEHHHHH. These three little children nestled in the lettuce stole the show for me! Who knew the appetizers could outshine the desserts the outside was beautiful and crispy thick shell, kind of similar to a falafel? But the inside meat filling was spiced and cooked perfectly. It comes with a teezay tee zai Kai sauce that was thick, creamy, and strong. If you like this teezay you'll love that zai Kai (very nice salty creamy lemony very spiced very nice). Knafeh (7/10): the top was beautiful and golden. I got takeaway and not sure if it's from sitting in the container, but it wasn't as crispy or stretchy as I presumed. That's my own fault tho. Not sure exactly how to describe the flavor? Roses an spices? But it was pretty good, nice delicate flavors while not being heavy despite it being a "cheesy" dessert! This one I would recommend getting in the restaurant fresh so you don't end up waiting around and making it sog like me. Baklava (9/10): Flaky GOODNESS. I know I said I won't be trying any more baklava after experiencing the baklava of my dreams but the temptations have overcome me. The nuttiness is perfect and not too sweet with the perfect amount of soak on the bottom- if u know what I mean. Nancy knows what she's doing I love Nancy. Overall!! Stopping in this last weekend there was a bit of confusion in regards to our order - no worries, but once we received our food the gyro sandwich just didn't hit. Something about the balance was slightly off. That being said, the included side of fries were delicious and the honey enjoyed his orange-flavored baklava. Wow, the baklava was out of this world! Ultra light, nutty, and super crispy! Save room for this! The four of us also shared the babaghanoush and hummus (big portions). The babaghanoush was smoky and creamy. I definitely thought that was the winner of the two. A hefty portion too. The yolanchy was also delicious! Tart, the way I like it, and the rice was almost creamy. I liked the fresh salad atop too. Definitely shareable with six pieces. For my entree I got the gyro, which was also a good sized portion and had a good meat to veggies ratio. The fries that it came with were pretty meh though. They charge extra ($0.79) for any sauce. I've been dining at Shish Grill for the last year or so and have stuck to the safe menu items like gyros and shawarma (the French fries are bomb) and pro tip, you can order those things "Lebanese style" which adds a whole other dimension to already great food. The brilliant and friendly chef, Nancy, also offers daily specials. Today for the first time I left my comfort zone and tried the Saturday lamb shank. For my sake I hope nobody reads this and doesn't try it. The flavors are amazing and balanced by a perfectly acidic Mediterranean salad that I could eat by itself for every meal. Not WITH but FOR every meal! I've met Nancy and her husband and they are both so welcoming and really just want to share their culture and do it through food, hospitality, and kindness. They also have a market next door with specialties from the Mediterranean region that you should check out. I really hope you give it a try! Stumbled on Shish Grill after our golf. Thought it was a little on the pricey side since our group isn't into Mediterranean food. Turned out pretty good. We shared a beef & lamb Shawarma that came with fries. Food was very good lots of meat and filling in crispy wrap. The French fries were fried crispy and hot. Service was excellent! UPDATE: 6/6/24 I needed a last minute post graduation for my son from Cal High -catering for about 10 people for pickup. Nancy after the ceremony about 7:45 pm. Everything was accommodated along with the sesame allergy written on the containers. Shish grill even supplied the tableware plates and everything was wrapped perfect for taking home. Nancy took the time with her busy cooking to sit down and give recommendations of the right balance of dishes and combos . Everything was delicious ! I still can't get over how good the garlic sauce tastes ! The bill was only about $260 not bad at all. I tipped $40 and made it complete , I will use her catering again without a doubt. The food is great. I had the gyro bowl and it was a generous portion of food I had to take some home. The meat was well seasoned. The food came out fast and the kid that was working the front was nice enough but I get a sense that he didn't want to be there. The place itself is a nice place for lunch and even though they are right next to the road on one side it was still very pleasant to sit outside. Luckily it wasn't too hot that day. All right my last review was over 2 years ago, and Shish Grill is STILL as consistently terrific as a restaurant can possibly be. There has not been even ONE day I went in which the food wasn't fantastic. I have returned a handful of times since that review, with a total of 20 friends over that period. Every single friend had huge praise for the dish they ate. Remarks include "This is so good I don't even have WORDS!" and "MmMMMMm this is amazing wow." Friends in the area come back to the restaurant without me, because why wait until your friend is free again when Shish Grill and its wonderful captain Nancy are ALWAYS there for you? One can't be more RELIABLE than them. Although the meat dishes such as the Maklouba, Spicy Chicken Plate, and others are show-stoppers, the menu is expansive with many awesome vegetarian options. For example the Wednesday special maghmour (Lebanese moussaka) is a delicious, thick stew featuring smoky eggplant and chickpeas along with mint, tomato, and garlic (comes with rice or bread). The sauces are yummy and the salads have awesome flavors, and the desserts are awesome too; my favorite would be the kanefeh (knafeh) (also confirmed by my Arab friend that it was legitimately great, unlike others she has had in the area). Service is always great; definitely ask any question you have before making your order so you know what you're getting. Don't be shy to ask for Chef Nancy because she is the SWEETEST person and will be more than happy to answer anything for you- she'll put a huge smile on your face. A reminder during cold weather- make sure to eat the food, especially the meat, while it's still hot. Do keep this in mind if you'll be sitting outside. The atmosphere is also enjoyable because Nancy Ajram and other Arab pop-stars are always playing in the speakers, and indoors is cool during hot weather while cozy during cold weather. I believe the good reviews now! Went here for an early lunch today. Friendly staff. It's not a fine dining ambiance but the food is the star. We got the Kefta wrap with fries and the lamb shish kabob entree with a salad. The Kefta wrap was flavorful and well done. The garlic sauce in it was great. The accompanying fries were nice and crispy, not oily or soggy l, and had a nice spice to it. The lamb shish kabob was super! The lamb was perfectly cooked, not over or under done. The rice was flavorful. The entree came with some of their garlic sauce - as with the Kefta, it went well with the lamb kabob. (Sauce also makes a great fry dip!) The accompanying salad was good, not overly dressed and the pita chips in it were a nice crunch. I'd asked about some other Lebanese or Turkish dishes I'd had elsewhere. They said I could call ahead for them to make it. How accommodating! The only downside to this place is the cost. It's not the cheapest place (the kabob entree was $21.99). At first I thought this place was overpriced for what you get, but oh my god??? Everything was so delicious that I take it all back!!! First of all, my friend strongly recommended the spicy chicken, but since she was already getting it, I got the kafta. The kafta was really yummy, especially when everything was eaten together with the garlic sauce ahhh that was great. But then!! I tried her spicy chicken, and I was blown away!! Took my fiancée here over the weekend since we were in the plaza for Sports Basement, and were very impressed with how extensive their menu was! Typically we go for two things to share, so the combo plate with a gyro was the perfect portion. Seems like we came near opening because there was only two ppl seated, but others were starting to arrive. Plenty of tables inside and outside of the restaurant. Looks like the market next door is also owned by the same people (good indicator that ingredients are fresh)! Combo plate had grilled beef, lamb, and chicken souvlaki. The chicken was a little dry, but the beef and lamb were great. The plate comes with a sauce that resembles tzatziki, but slightly creamier. Very nice addition to the grilled meats! The gyro was perfectly toasted in the exterior, and the inside was evenly layered so each bite would have all the components. Nicely balanced and the fries were fresh. Located across the street from the city center bishop ranch. Great for solo or group dining. Edit: I forgot to mention how there was only one employee working the front end, as well as serving the dine-in guests... but he was extremely friendly and attentive! I came in today with my husband to have Shish Grill and I do not regret it. First of all, walking in I noticed how clean the restaurant was. It smelled good in there to. And that's the most important is how clean a restaurant is. The lady that rang us up at the register was so helpful, sweet and welcoming. She had a smile on her face the whole time. She kept asking us if we needed anything when we got our food and checking up on us. I think she was the owner. Speaking of food it was amazing. Lebanese food is the best. Taste like home. This is by far one of our favorite restaurants to order from on Door Dash. The food is plentiful (usually one order is good for dinner with leftovers for lunch the next day. My favorite is the beef shish kabob with big chunks of tender meat wonderfully charred on the outside and packed with flavor. Comes with an abundance of deliciously seasoned rice and the garlic sauce adds a real punch of flavor. I usually get a side of tabouli to go along with it. Interior is simple and straight forward. They do have a good amount of outdoor seating if the weather is accommodating. The salad was refreshing with a nice crunch from the fried bits. The lentils were tasty and didn't taste like your regular lentils soup that some people may dislike. I enjoyed the combo plate a lot. The meats were tender and flavorful. The dipping sauce was a nice touch to dip with your meats. The spicy chicken was spicy, but tolerable. I also just realized they have a table tent at our local farmer's market in Mountain House on Sundays (with a more limited menu). Let me explain - I always order the wrap before heading to the airport and have it packed for me in such a way that I can take it out on my flight to eat once I'm hungry.
