This place means business, everytime is always a hit! tried a new to me plate, spicy chicken with rice and pita bread. tender chicken pieces and that spicy sauce is absolutely incredible, has some spice but not over the top where its not enjoyable.
Stopped by for lunch around 1pm on a Thursday. They have daily lunch specials but I opted for a Chicken Shawarma Sandwich, instead of the fries that come on the side, I was able to substitute it for a salad! I love that they allow for substitutions. Generally the sandwich comes with no onions, so I asked to add onions. They offer fountain drinks and canned drinks. We ordered at the front, then we sat at a table with a number for them to bring the food to the table. The chicken shawarma sandwich had moist chicken and crunchy veggies.The sandwich comes in a pita which was soft and warm! The side salad was very fresh tasting. I love the crispy pita topping. It added great texture!
Juicy Chicken Kabobs (1. Shish Tawook (Chicken)) best I have ever had. The Garlic Sauce is absolutely amazing. Tabouli, Hummus and Baba Ghanouge are all freshly made and absolutely delicious. This food is made with passion and attention to details just like in Lebanon. We love coming here and get all our catering from here for the family. Chef Nancy and Shish Grill are a blessing! We will be back!
Another terrific dinner as we keep exploring their menu, and we came on Friday to try their lamb shank, which was delicious over their seasoned rice topped with sliced nuts. The lamb was tender and flavorful. The accompanying cucumber tomato salad was fresh and had just the right amount of salt for our taste. We also enjoyed their outstanding spinach pie appetizer which was fluffy, warm and had a sumac-flavored filling with a tangy tzatziki dipping sauce on the side. The hummus was terrific as usual, as was the service during a busy Friday night dinner rush. Will be back again soon!

My partner and I just had Asian food the other day, so we wanted a different cuisine today and opted for Mediterranean food! Because we wanted to go to Sports Basement as well, Shish Grill was the perfect spot for lunch (same plaza with plenty of parking). I've personally never been there, but my partner has and remembers the food here being great. Thus I had some expectations going in. After browsing their menu online, I knew I wanted to try an appetizer that I don't see too often - Spinach Pie with a side of vegan sauce. I also wanted to try the Lavash Wrap (with a side salad) as I've never had that too. My partner opted for the Shish Kabob, with lamb as choice of meat and a side of soup. And of course, we had to try the housemade Baklava. Ordering is all done at the counter and they're supposed to give you a number sign so servers know which order goes to which table, buuuuut our cashier / counter guy forgot to give us our number sign. I think that's why there was some confusion with our order when we went back to also order a side of fries. The guy wanted to input the fries into our current order, but couldn't find our order number or something. Food came fairly quick though so that's a plus. Though the place is kinda small, it seems to get quite a lot of food traffic. We were able to get a table inside, but there's tables outside as well. First came the Spinach Pies (3 pieces). I also thought that the side of vegan sauce was supposed to come with this appetizer since the menu said to "ask for vegan sauce" if needed for this specific menu item. It normally comes with tzatziki. I asked about it, but the sauce came with our entrees instead. The spinach pies itself was pretty interesting. It has a light, puffy, thin outer layer and inside is filled with cooked spinach. I like that the spinach was nicely flavored and didn't have the gritty texture it normally comes with. Although it was tasty, I would probably opt to try a different appetizer next time. As for my entree, the side of salad was a nice touch. There were crunchy, thin pita or lavash pieces sprinkled in my salad. Portion size for a side salad was good and it provided a nice and light contrast to the entree. My Lavash Wrap was served on a bed of rice and it was a good size portion (very comparable to what I usually see in similar styled Mediterranean restaurants). The outer layer of the wrap was crunchy and the meat inside had really good flavor to it. The garlic sauce it came with was a perfect pairing too. I didn't end up finishing my entree, but I'm happy to have my second half sometime later so that I can enjoy these flavors again. If they had Lavash Wrap as a menu item just by itself, and not as an entree, I would probably love it even more. Lastly, the Baklava. This was so delicious as well. The layers weren't hard to cut through at all like some Baklavas are. That being said though, I think it would be because there's less syrup or honey mixed in. So less sweet, but the layers were really crispy and flakey! We were almost tempted to get more to try, but maybe next time we'll try a different flavor Baklava! Overall, food was fantastic. Decent and comparable pricing for the portion you get. My partner thought his lamb Shish Kabob was made really well. Better than our usual, more local favorite spot, so that's saying something. Service was okay - a bit confusing at times, but all in all, I can see why this spot has such nice reviews!
Stopped by on a Tuesday evening and ordered at the counter (togo). There are quite a few tables inside along with a big tv that was showing the WNBA game. The food took around 10-15 minutes. I ordered the spicy chicken, which was flavorful and well cooked. The house salad along with the white sauce paired very well with the chicken. I would say that there was a little bit too much spicy sauce (which wasn't spicy), which made the rice soggy. The plate was also a good size and could be shared between two if you are not super hungry. I also ordered the shish salad, which was a lot bigger than I thought, but look forward to trying it later!
No menu looked familiar to me so I ordered the chefs special lamb shanks with yogurt creamy sauce. It turned out to be the best bet - I absolutely loved it! Lamb shanks were cooked perfectly, tender and moist, and with the seasoned rice and roasted almonds, they were so spoonable! The portion was honestly huge so I ended up bringing half of it home and was still full. Will return to try more menus!!

Can't believe it's taken me this long to try out Shish Grill! Small eatery with seating inside and outside. They have a wide variety of sandwiches and entrees to satisfy your Lebanese craving! There are also chef daily specials that I will need to come back to try. The chicken shawarma sandwich was very flavorful. Don't forget to put some red chili sauce on it! The combo plate was a great way to try a variety of meats. The lentil soup was also delicious!
Shish Grill offers massive portions of homecooked Lebanese food and is attached to the adjacent Shish Market, offering a variety of Middle Eastern ingredients. The Shish Combo Plate came with grilled chicken, beef, and kafta kabobs, served with grilled onions/peppers, yellow rice, house salad, and a creamy garlic sauce. The Vegetarian Plate came with an assortments of mezzes including dolmas, falafels, baba ghanoush, and a thick and creamy hummus, perfect for eating with pita bread. Both of these plates were solid and showcased the best of Middle Eastern flavors! However, the even more memorable dishes were yet to come! For each day of the week, Shish Grill does a daily special, and on Fridays, they offer a massive, super tender Lamb Shank, served over rice cooked with ground lamb and ouza spice blend. But the standout dish for me was the Spicy Chicken, made of chicken breast cubes stir-fried with onions, bell peppers, and garlic in a delectable, creamy red hot sauce. The spicy sauce was addictively delicious and went perfectly with the chicken, veggies, and rice underneath--no wonder this is one of their most popular items!

Enjoyed a delicious meal at Shish Grill! The employee working the register was helpful in explaining differences between menu items, providing recommendations, and being flexible with modifications, such as double salad and half Bulgar. You order at the counter and they bring out your meal to your table or offer takeout. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The portion sizes are very large. The entrees come with rice, but I upgraded mine to Bulgar and asked for light Bulgar and extra salad. The salad they gave me was huge. My only complaint would be about the salad as I felt it was too dressed. I would've liked a little lighter dressing. The chicken kabob was very tender and seasoned. We really got screwed here! See photo 1 where we found a metal screw in our Spicy chicken. Luckily we saw it before bitting down on it. We had 4 take out meals. I ordered the Souviaki chicken sandwich,. Menu said it would be smothered with tzatziki sauce yet there was not a drop on the sandwich. The sandwich was dry and tasteless. Vegetarian meal came with pita that was so stale and they would not switch it for fresh pita. Instead they suggested we buy a bag of their fresh pita bread which we did and that pita was good. Our friends suggested this place but they also said they would never return as the food was not good and the customer service poor. Very disappointed with this meal and the online ordering works poorly and automatically added 18% tip! I did speak with the owner who was very concerned about our welfare. She could not have been kinder. I wanted to update my review so you will know food is fine here and owner stands behind it. read more

Really happy we found this hidden gem. The whole reason I tried this place is because I saw Kibbeh on the menu and they didn't disappoint! They're extremely friendly, the food was fresh, and everything was so good. It's a small place, but there's plenty of seating. Bright and clean too. It was a nice night, so we took advantage of the outdoor seating. The flavors were on point and not overly salted. I have a Lebanese uncle, and the dinner reminded me of his mom's cooking. That's the ultimate compliment. I'll definitely be coming back every time I'm in town. read more

I cannot say enough great things about Shish Grill. I hosted a small group gathering here and Nancy and her staff were absolutely wonderful, so welcoming and kind! The food was truly authentic (just like back home) with delicious flavors that had me ordering more and more. Updated review after 6 years! Shish Grill looks like it has passed the test of time, and continues to serve up generous portions of scrumptious Lebanese food. During the pandemic I rely on Doordash to order from them. Upgrading to 5 stars! Some of my favorite items: 1. The free lentil soup is super smooth and hearty, reminding me of a really good Indian Dal. 2. Spicy Chicken is a juicy chicken kabob dish with some added peppery and garlicky kick, served on a bed of fluffy lemony rice. 3. Maklouba is the "Upside Down" stew of lamb shank buried with rice and veggies. It is available only on Saturdays and is great if you're super hungry or want to share. 4. For less spicy dishes you can't go wrong with either the Combination Platter or Shish Tawook. 5. Their portions are so large its hard to save room for dessert. Definitely recommend the Ashtalia, a really creamy and milky pudding with pistachio toppings and sweet syrup of rose water. read more

Had a craving for some Mediterranean food one day and happened upon Shish Grill while searching; at first glance the vibes are very much no frills, no additional decor beyond the dozens of plaques praising this place for having the best Mediterranean food in the East Bay (awarded by the East Bay Times). You first order at the cashier and wait till you're called; perfect for those who just want to eat and not be bothered. Onto the food: First off, wow - my hubby and I ordered the Spicy Chicken and the Chicken Kabob and both were really good! They both had flavorful rice and well seasoned chicken. My only comment was the hummus was a tad watery and lacking in chickpea flavor. Other than that, I'm so glad we found another spot up in the East Bay that we would definitely return to! read more

My new fave spot! I've never had Lebanese food until today. After running some errands I thought I'd give it a try and ordered the lavash wrap. I shared the meal with my 14 month old who also enjoyed it very much. It was so flavorful and unlike anything I've ever had before. It was served over a bed of rice and with a side of garlic sauce. For years, I've said "Oh Shish", and I didn't even know I was calling on the restaurant! I've always loved Middle Eastern food, well before I had a Persian gf. Of course ever since we've starting dating years ago, it's required dining and often. Thus, we headed toward Shish Grill for a fix. Cute little 12 table place in a strip mall of sorts. They also own a market next door, which incidentally, they close at 8pm -- I did want to check it out after we ate, but it had already closed. We both got the Shish Tawook (marinated and charbroiled chicken breast kabobs, served with rice, salad, and garlic sauce). It was good, chicken was dry but seasoned well, and loved the garlic sauce...although I've had better. Overall, not great but very good. [$13.99, 4.0 stars]. I'll go back again for sure. read more

If you are in the mood for Greek or Mediterranean food, check out the Shish Grill where they prepare everything fresh each day. They use their own spices and cook dishes to perfection. I tried out their sambousek which comes with 3 pieces of specialty dough stuffed with seasoned meat and cooked to perfection. The garlic sauce was amazing. This appetizer was basically a meat pie that had a lot of flavor. I enjoyed how flaky and crispy it was. I tried their lavash wrap which had a mixture of ground beef and lamb spread on pita bread. It was topped with onions, parsley and their specialty garlic sauce, while served with rice. The rice was super flavorful and cooked with different seasonings and spices. The lavash wrap was tender and tasty. I was very impressed by how good these dishes were and see why they have won several accolades for being one of the best restaurants in the area. I did try their lebanese coffee which was too strong for me to enjoy. Overall, the food was excellent and I would definitely give them a future visit. read more

Let me tell you, this place is soo good!!!!! The LAVASH WRAP is dope! I have never seen this before at other Mediterranean restaurants but I saw it here and wanted to try. We got the combo meal the first time and loved the Lavash wrap so much that we couldn't forget about it. Lucky they were able to just give us the Lavash wrap and remove the rice and salad today. We got two orders of just the Lavash wrap and finished it all. Get it and you will not be disappointed! read more
