The first couple times we came here, it was good service. Today we came because we've never had any problems here. Well, we got the WORST SHITTIEST waitress ever. She had no clue what flavors had what in it, she put coals on our hookah that were not cooked all the way. She took forever to even put coals on our hookah. I'm extremely disappointed with this place now. I complained to someone else and they did nothing. Never coming here again. Update: the manager kindly took off a hookah from our check and apologized about the waitress not doing a good job. I will come back only if I get the waiter we usually get. Update: Tonight was a horrible night for me, worse one in the past 9 years I've been coming here!! One of the staff has recently been getting very personal about my life and my daughter's. Furoq was very apologetic and had the waitress come to the table and apologize, she instead raised her voice at me and belittled me more, claiming she didn't care that she was getting yelled at because she had gone out of her way to treat my daughter like one of her kids, while I appreciate it, I never asked her for help, and she would constantly question my parenting and I've had enough! As we left, furoq asked if she apologized and apologized in her behalf again, I left in tears. I think my days at Shishas Cafe are over and done unless something changes. Furoq you are an amazing manager, but I won't be coming back because I came to have a good time with friends and left crying. Thank you for all the wonderful years of memories. read more

Shisha cafe is my go-to study spot. Nowhere else in San Antonio have I been able to find a place open late enough to go after I get off work (they close at 2am on weekdays, 4 am weekends, ridiculous). They have plenty of tables next to outlets!! The staff is really nice, and dont judge, even when you sit for long chunks of time. They are also the best hookah spot I've found in town, and I've been coming for years since discovering this place. The prices are really good and they readjust your coals very frequently, so no wories about harshness. They added some food+hookah combo deals so I dont feel like i'm breaking the bank with my super frequent visits (vegetarian friendly for those who are concerned) Try the falafel plate or cheese sandwich, and the fries are bomb!!! The food here is great! The dip appetizer is tasty and filling. The lunch specials are a great price and you get a lot of food! Dinner is a bit more expensive but the food is delicious. I would highly recommend the chicken tikka and lamb tikka! The gyro meat is really well cooked as well. The pitas are soft and fluffy and the biryani rice is so tasty! read more

I have tried this place several times and the service seems to demish every time. I like the waitstaff, they are usually really nice, but they never seem to be there for a very long time. they have a high turnover rate when it comes to employees. they just build a nice outside patio and have a really good hummus. the hookah is good, but not for the price they charge. 17 dollars is way too much for alwaha and 19 dollars for starbuzz...thats when i decided that i was going to Sultan Cafe, which is right down the street. They offer the same price for every flavor, no matter what the brand is. I also didnt like the owner, we got a pot of tea for 9.99 and they only filled it half way. when we asked him if he could fill up the pot all the way he said no and walked away. he was rude. read more

First off I've been coming here for about 2yrs and can say I never ever regret coming and spending money. The shisha is fantastic and the food is very worth the price and the peach tea is the best I have ever had and I can say I never had tried it before. Friday is the best time to come and enjoy live music with a Alot of choices in shisha and over 100 mixed flavors. The staff was nice. They had everything right there a in going fire & tongs for the coals is what was nice & I learned a trick for my own hookah. Been to a place that didn't allow me to have tongs. I have been coming here for about three years. It has gone through quite some changes since then! For starters it begin with outside only area that was dirt and grass. They have since added cement, walls, fountain, indoor area, expanded the indoor area, and now have a gate. Their food is ok at best, honestly though save your money for else where. What I have always disliked about this place is the service! It has never improved, sometimes a little worse and then other times same old same old. Be warned also that if you have a group bigger than three you will be forced to buy 2 hookahs, even if that other person is not smoking. This is where Sultans comes in. Sultans is the hookah bar literally 2 mins away from Shishas. It has much better customer service, not 4 people equals 2 hookah rule, better drinks/food, and has a Club Card so the more you smoke, the more you save. Ever since Sultans has started their Club Card my friends and I have stopped coming here. Just do yourself a favour and head on over to Sultans. Although if you are ever in Austin, Texas goto Phara's hookah bar! That place is heaven compared to any San Antonio hookah bar! Ohh and Shishas does have better parking than Sultans but other than that not much else going for it. read more

I had a Starbucks tall americano and a very rude guy at the door asked me to leave it in my car before entering Shisha!! I asked who he was and he told us he was the manager!!! Mediocre at best. Mint tea was really nice. The Greek salad was chopped iceberg and tomatoes, dressing was weak with no definitive flavored. Gyro was dry and again without any real flavor to it. Another dining attempt with large portions but again why offer large portions with minimal flavored. A lot of trendy kids fringing Turkish tea & smoking hookahs. I guess that is the allure that draws people to this place. Our server was non existent to us but seemed to pay considerable attention to the other table she had that were smoking the hookahs/shishas and once I saw the price ranges on the menu I could tell why this was. Our three courses were not comparable to a table of three with the pipes. Upon leaving several people who worked watched my wife and I walk out of the front door and the manager even looked me in the eye yet offered no goodbye. If you are looking for mediocre service and bland food then I would suggest this place. read more

Good Mediterranean place. I often go there to study in the morning when it's quite. It's also good at the afternoon to hang out with friends. Good hookah and good food too. They have a dinning section with Mediterranean food. I never actually try it but from the smell I think it's tasty. They play Arabic music and they play important soccer matches. read more

They must be making their money off the hookah side of this establishment, because the restaurant side does not have its act together. We arrived at 5 PM on a slow Sunday afternoon. By 6 PM our main courses still had not arrived. You know you are in trouble when the waitresses are continually either apologizing for the wait and thanking you profusely for your patience or are assuring that it will be worth the wait. If only... Seasonings were mediocre, presentation uninspired. Save your money. Go one block up Babcock to Dallah's. They actually how Med cuisine should be done! read more

The food is great. I enjoy the gyro and their fries. I have to take the rating down a couple of notches, though, because the waitress could have been more knowledgeable when we were asking her questions about the menu and especially because they do not serve free tap water. You'd think that's a basic necessity for a restaurant. Instead, you're forced to purchase a beverage. This nickel and diming is poor customer service to me.
