Been going here for YEARS. I loved watching the business grow and the interior get revamped and expanded. But amongst all that, the food quality has remained excellent. Service wise it's quite simple, order and pay at the counter, sit down at a table of your choice which already has a number on it, and pick up your order when your table number is called. A word to the wise, their specialty is spice and the food is quite spicy. They don't play. So if you like spicy and can handle it, you'll love their food! Hmmm so to start off the customer service was mediocre maybe it was just this one instance. The waiter cleaned a table for me. The staff had very "we don't need your service" vibes. The pani puri was okay and not even enough to fill up all the puris. The mango shake is made with pulp and tastes fake/processed. Do try their dosas out! They come with a coconut chutney and sambar. I don't eat sambar so I didn't get to taste it but I'm sure it tastes good too. This place is great and at a great price point. I don't know Indian food well but wanted to try this place following a recommendation from a friend. My biggest complaint is that the menu doesn't have any descriptions. However, the cashier was more than willing to help me order. He recommended a spring dosa which is similar to a wrap but with potatoes, spices and I'm sure other things. He let me keep my check open and reorder a smaller dish to continue trying things. I tried a chaat fish which was much more unique. The outer shell was so crunchy, while the yogurt was so sweet and creamy, and meanwhile you get a huge blast of flavor from the spices and nuts. My entire bill was 12 dollars. I will definitely come back and come with friends. Definitely a place to split a bunch of dishes. read more

Such a good little chaat/Indian vegg place. The chaat is always made fresh and made exactly as ordered! I love spicy style chaat and they made it to perfection. We also had their dosa and it's great! My favorite vegetarian restaurant probably in all of Texas. Came here this past Saturday and left full and satisfied. Get the Bombay sandwiches. They add beats to them, I think a bit of guac (not sure), but just savory and delicious. Had a plain dosa too. Sambar was a tad saltier than I prefer but was still good, as was the chutney. I love this restaurant! Definitely 5 stars. Very clean restaurant with plenty of seating. Water is self serve, order at the counter and receive your own food so you don't need to tip. Food is very reasonably priced and perfectly seasoned. Some foods can be quite spicy but that is just how Indian cuisine is. My favorite were the dahi puri and dosa. Each plate is about 4-7 dollars with the majority of them being $5. The food is perfect for sharing with friends and can make you very full. At most each person should only spend about $8. read more

I use to think this place is good for Indian fast food restaurant. I ordered pav bhaji amd idli here (to go) for the second time (my bad ... I forgot I had a bad experience earlier). The pav bhaji kept me awake in the night .. felt conjunction in throat, uneasiness, excess oil and feeling of heaviness. The Sambhar was a joke and on another note was just around 100 ml for 3 idli's. I wish there was a zero rating... low quality oil and low quality food. They have very homely food. They don't make Naan but just Chapati. We placed an order for samosa chat, masala dosa and chapati to-go. They were allowing dine-in but it didn't feel safe as the staff was just trying to somehow have the mask hang around their nose but mostly slipping away. The food anyways is quite cheap and tasty. Whereto start. This type of food is def an acquired taste and meant for open minded people who enjoy various cultures of food. If you are from India then this is just known as good food. For starters I recommend the Dhai Vada or Dhai puri ( I can describe just google) they are both so delicious and packed with flavor. Favorite dish here is the Pav Baji. It's purée blend of vegetables, tomatoes, and Indian spices. Served with two hot fresh buns. The purée is meant to put over the bun and eat. Delicious! Their Chana Batura is amazing and so are their Samosas. Other favorites include Behl Puri, and Masala dosa. Their green chatni they serve on the side is fresh and tastes The price of food is so cheap. I recommend ordering 4 to 5 dishes and sharing between the 2 to 3 of you. This is not an impressive place at all. We decided to give them a second chance because we like Indian fast food. There was a long wait time to order despite the fact that there was no line at the counter. They prepare and serve 1 item at a time so you have to get up from your table go to the counter and get every item one at a time, which is very annoying. The food is served in flimsy paper plates which you have to get rid of at the end and go to the end of the hall to use the trashcan there. There is no customer service. I like eating samosa chat and it came with only one Samosa and a lot of unused chutney which I had a hard time balancing on the flimsy plate taking to the trashcan. One of those places which cannot differentiate between spicy and hot food. I will not go there again and I recommend that you don't go there either. read more

This is a really good place for some good food for cheap. The place was pretty busy when we were there and there was a line to order, but it moved pretty quickly and it didn't take too long to get your food. I had the Butter Masala Dosa which I have never had before but it was very good. It is pretty big and so you don't need more. It was very reasonably priced, which is a big plus. Which is nice when you're getting a lot of food. My only complaint is that they call out our orders when it's ready and it is sometimes difficult to hear what numbers they're yelling, but overall it wasn't terrible. But after that everything went downhill. Papdi chat was just okay and raj lachori had a filing of bhel inside it. Bhai pav was strictly okay and the last order was methi gota which seemed like frozen ones being refried and not fresh at all. Samosa Mysore masala dosa To try: Idli Pakora ================ Original review: My friend treated me to a legit, authentic northern Indian lunch - and I am so thankful and happy she did, not only because I loved our time but also because this opened a whole. New. World!! I love it when I run across things I don't know on a menu. And for someone who only knew the likes of sag paneer, tikka masala, biriyani, dosa, and dal, this was a true treat. She ordered: Pani puri: Dhai (yogurt) puri Behl puri Sav puri Mysore masala dosa Faluda Onto what each of those wonderful creations are. Pani puri: Pani means water, or in this case, the thin sauces. The word water in the name makes it sound boring - they are anything but. And puri - puri look like two of those scoopable tortilla chips fused together. You find a more translucent side and poke a hole to stuff it with potato, chickpeas, and thin sauces (the pani) that are savory, spicy, and sweet. Yummm. And legit excuse to play with your food. Dhai (yogurt) puri: You do your own assembling with pani puri, but dei puri comes out excellently prepared and ready to eat - and they are explosions in your mouth! The tartness of the yogurt lays the foundation for the sauces that flow in with flavor - and the shaved coconut, cilantro, and sav or behl are like bursts of texture that meld together into a beautiful experience. It is probably why I am going to break my carb intake limit today because, dang it, I want some of that dosa and potato goodness. Oh, can't forget the sauces! While the dosa already has that spicy mysore spread inside, it comes with two more delicious concoctions - one is chunkier like curry and the other is thick and coconut-based, and I ate the leftovers with a spoon afterward. My mouth is watering just writing about this. The wrap to this wondrous exploration of flavors and textures came through the faluda. It's a rose water drink with chunks of kulfi ice cream and basil seeds topping its happy existence. And by its happy existence, I mean its fate to exist to bring my taste buds happiness. I came here with my coworkers one day for lunch and the place was pretty busy. The ordering situation is a bit weird because they don't really has a menu besides the printed ones up at the cashier. If you have no idea like me and a total noob, you'll have no idea what to order. I took suggestions from my coworkers and they we're the best at explaining things either so I just went with the flow. The ordering situation is a bit weird too, you order, you pay and you sit yourself and they call out numbers. Your entire order may not necessarily be done all in one go if you ordered multiple things so be sure to keep coming back to the front cashier to pick up things as soon as your buzzer rings. It's really un organized. The food I would say is so so for my taste, I'm not bashing vegetarian food or Indian food as I do like it a lot. The thing that probably did stand out for me was the sandwich. It was like a grilled sandwich with stuff in it. The pakoras were not very good and they were out of most beverages. The other downsides: it's quite dirty inside and they use WAY too much styrofoam. Craving food from here as I type this review. I just moved to Houston and met my friend and her family here for late lunch. We ordered a bunch of items (listed below) and just shared everything. The place was SO PACKED and line to order was super long almost out the door and I see why. The food was SO GOOD and the price was super cheap. This is also a VEGETARIAN ONLY restaurant, so don't get your hopes up if you want meat, you carnivores! Lol I look forward to going back and trying some other dishes soon! I definitely recommend this place if you don't mind vegetarian food and are up for trying cultural food. Samosa - not a fan of this in general so can't say *Masala Dosa - my favorite, but I don't like the potato mixture in here; next time I'll try plain or chilli cheese*. I was having a date with my sister and we're both fans of Indian food. We're also both vegetarians and we don't eat onion or garlic. We got there around 11:08 am and there was plenty of parking. There was no real greeting and we were the first customers of the day. In fact, the man sitting down exchanged looks with the lady behind the counter after staring at us with an almost deer-in-headlights look. Not quite sure what it meant - maybe it was too early for English? Haha... I already read some Yelp reviews so I knew not to expect stellar service so it didn't phase me. I smiled and walked to the counter and looked at the menu before asking the lady what could be made without onion and garlic. This may not be a complete list but it included the vegetable fritter, chole bhature, aloo (potato) paratha, masala dosa, and combination Masala dosa set. I wanted to try a bit of everything so we ended up ordering the aloo paratha, chole bhature, and combination dosa. I also heard how their food was a bit on the spicy side so I ordered the rose lassi to offset it, just in case. You then tell them the table number you plan on sitting at. It's self serve so get your utensils, napkins, and water by the station near the restrooms while you're waiting. They'll call out your table number when your food is ready. The dosa came out first so we started on that. It was stuffed with spiced potatoes with sides of spicy soup, a coconut chutney, and what tasted like a watered down kheer. I loved it! Halfway through, the chole bhature was ready. It consisted of two fried bhature that accompanied a chickpea curry with a lime wedge on the side. Yum! Last was the paratha. I was wondering how it would be considered an entree but there were two large and tender parathas with yogurt. Definitely filling. By this time, we could only pick off a bit of the bread and had to pack up the rest. I've only had frozen parathas so this was really good and fresh. The rose lassi was great - you could taste the rose but it wasn't overpowering nor was it overly sweet - the perfect accompaniment to the meal. My sister said it's what she imagined what soap tasted like but she did drink some more so I guess it was a decent soap flavor. There are styrofoam to-go boxes by the counter. For two people, we ordered enough for 3 at around $25. A pretty good deal and we left very satisfied and had some to take home! The entire place was clean and had a good atmosphere. The bathrooms also looked recently renovated but the smaller stall had no toilet paper. Although there were no greetings, the lady was pretty helpful and she knew what could be prepared Jain without consulting the kitchen so props to that! The food does take its time; we were there for almost an hour and a half, but I didn't time the food as we weren't in a hurry. Also another plus: we were the only non-Indians there, so it's got to be legit! We'll definitely be returning! Was very disappointed with the food. Sadly the restaurant has taken its customers for granted and dropped its level to below zero. We ordered 3 items. A mix chat which was mostly tasteless and bland. A rava masala dosa with insipid potato bhaji. And a medu wada that was fried in stale and smelly oil. Really pathetic compared to a couple of years back when we ate there. Don't waste your time eating here. There are many more Indian places that serve tasty and good food. No wonder it was quite empty.
