My co worker wanted to come here for her birthday and I haven't been to a Shogun for over 10 years. I called to ensure we have reservations for a party of 7. They said we can't be seated till all of our parties are here and can do separate checks. This location has tons of parking spaces and inside looked really nice and clean. The server was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the New York Steak well done with rice being upgraded to chicken fried rice, mixed vegetables, and salad. The chef cooks it on the spot so you get to be entertained while waiting for the food being made. The food end up being delicious! I am watching my carbs, but the chicken fried rice was so good that I finished my bowl. The New York steak was good, but needs a little more seasoning. They had some sauces there, but it was bland to me. I would come here again to try other dishes. It is a bit pricier. The birthday girl did get a free cake/ice cream and they sang to her too. As a vegan, I always appreciate places that accommodate me because I tag along with my non-vegan family. The server was very kind and assured me what was and was not vegan. The three stars are for her. Sadly, our chef was so odd towards me from the beginning. He asked if butter would be okay for the veggies and I said no. I was surprised because not even vegetarians eat butter. But maybe he didn't know. He proceeded to give me the cold shoulder the whole time. And he complained the other party about how inconvenient having a vegan is. I have never felt as unwelcomed at a dining establishment as I did here. Weird behavior. Had a new waitress, claimed she only had one table, us, Understandable i suppose for a not so busy night. She was not attentive whatsoever, no sauces brought to our table, no refills on drinks, wine etc.... food was brought to our table cold. All around bad experience. The food is always a hit. For first timers it's a great show but after being there more than a few times, it's the personal connection with the cook. Jose was funny and let us play our own music. This is our go to place for birthdays and other celebrations. We (party of 7) were there on a Saturday evening. Seated promptly. We feel 5 stars for the Teppan chef and food. We ordered 6 dinner combos (1 to go) 1 child's dinner and 4 appetizers. Service started out well - Drink and food orders taken right away. The lack of service occurred when the appetizers were dropped off - most of them were to share with the table. We were not given any small plates and had to use our dinner plates. Couldn't mix any Wasabi and soy for the sashimi. The tempura was passed around, we had to dip the tempura in the sauce and pass it. It was hot so some of us used our dinner plate. Flagged down a server to ask for more water, chopsticks and 1 plate, flaged another server for more chopsticks, napkins and a glass. Imo appetizers should have a small plate so you can share. Went here for husband's birthday. Had a reservation. We had the worst dining experience! Service was poor from the start. We watched other parties walk in and be seated right away. After inquiring, we were rudely told they had called us five times. We were sitting where they had told us to wait. Service was poor from the start - water, which was all we were ordering to drink, was not brought until we finished soup and salad, and we had to ask for it. The food quality was worse. The vegetables were undercooked (some still half raw) and everything was extremely oily to the point of sitting in grease. We asked for no noodles as the last time here we had found them to be oily and had no flavor. The steak had no flavor. The chef left big globs of fat on it. The fried rice was not properly prepared - it was mushy, clumped together, and also overly oily. On top of that, our check was incorrect, as some items for party sitting at the same table as us were on our check. I asked the chef politely to cut my steak in smaller pieces. When I asked again for smaller pieces, he made a rude comment and negative look and did not do it, which was unprofessional and uncomfortable. After eating here I developed horrible stomach cramps which raise concerns about food quality and preparation. This was not just a bad dining experience- it was disgusting. read more

If I'm in a hurry and want something tasty without sitting at the communal tables, I always go for the New York New York Roll--it's consistently fresh and hits the spot every time. For special occasions, I really enjoy their hibachi-style dining. It's fun, flavorful, and always a crowd-pleaser. The fried rice in particular is absolutely amazing--some of the best I've had. It's also become a bit of a tradition for me to go to Shogun on Christmas. It's one of the few places open, and it never disappoints. We came here to celebrate our niece's birthday and had a nice time. We were a very large party and weren't seated till everyone arrived. So we hung out in the bar area while everyone arrived. I ordered the Tokyo Mule but didn't like the taste and had it replaced with a lemon drop martini, which was very good and well crafted. All our party finally arrived and we're seated in a private. A scope of lobster mixed with Kanu- Kama mix was placed on top of sushi rolls that had asparagus, tempura, and avocado. It was t bad but just an interesting take on a lobster roll. The chicken was semi flavorless but sprinkled with sesames, I probably should have ordered something else but the rice and veggies were excellent. I finally tried Shogun, which is down the street from my house. I went for a family birthday celebration and now was it packed. We had a 7pm reservation and we did not get seated until almost 8pm. My review was going to reflect this but, they put us in a private room and well let's say that made up for the wait time. The waiter Hendry was awesome and out cook Willy did a great job! The food was cooked in front of us and was delicious! We had a great time, the service and food were amazing. Sushi was fresh and melted in my mouth just the way it supposed to. So this place is great! I had a coworker who used to mention it a lot and I just hard to try it when I lived in the area. It's a cheaper Benihana and it's actually quite delicious! I've been here and to the one in Pasadena on many occasions and it never disappoints. The service is always great! Located inside a shopping center with a medium size parking lot. They have sushi bar seating, regular dining table seating and grill seating. If you choose the grill seating option you get seated with a couple of other people. You get to choose which meat option you would like and the chef grills it in front of you. Miso soup, veggies, salad and fried rice all come with it as well. The food was really good, everything was seasoned really well and portions were perfect. The only issues we had were that everything felt super rushed. Today we decided to go for something totally different. I've been here before but many years ago and no report. So we ventured to a place called Shogun, La Verne. This location is in the very back on a small mini mall. The parking is limited but at the time we went we found some with no problem. Not many handicaps stalls and they share it with the rehab center next door. As we walked in there were two girls to meet us at the front door, very nice with smiles !! As we were seated we noticed it wasn't really busy other nights it's packed. The background music was low enough to talk across the table, that's very important.. Tables and chairs and booths were nice and clean. Not sure on how many this location can handle but they have A LOT OF ROOM !! A big party from the back room was there and it seems like there were more rooms available for bigger parties. Three chefs were working this day. The menu we're giving out by our server Enrique. Several pages and combinations to choose from. A full bar that served hard alcohol drinks, beer, wines and soft drinks too. The few lunch combos for decent prices, a lot to choose from. As Enrique took our order, we had some time before everything arrived. Our drinks were first, made perfectly and next our appetizers. Very hot and looking very good. Not long after our food was delivered. Very tasty with heat from the grill. Our main lunch was here in no time. Very tasty and nice and hot. I decided to treat Shogun this evening. We used to go there often before COVID. This is our first time since COVID. We informed our server that we are on a low sodium diet and I'm allergic to tomatoes. The salad came out exactly how I ordered it. I ordered the tofu delight no sauce. Just pan fried. Our server even told our cook that we didn't want sauce and salt on our food. Our cook asked what sauce I wanted. I said none. Just plain. Yet he added salt and pepper to my tofu. I told him I don't want any salt. He then went salt my tofu again. I didn't want to make a scene because I was with two other families at the table. I ate only half of the tofu. It was very salty. My kids and I took my hubby to Shoguns for his birthday. We were a party of 4. The restaurant was busy but not overly crowded. We sat in the bar area for about 20 min while the table was getting ready ( we did have reservations and arrived on time). We shared the table with another family of 4. We ordered a chicken yakisoba dinner, for the kids to split. My hubby got the steak, lobster and shrimp combo. I got the spicy chicken and filet minion combo. We all upgraded for fried rice, and I asked for extra garlic butter. When our chef arrived ( after about 20 minutes after being seated) I reiterated my requests for extra garlic butter on all items. And also explained I wanted my chicken spicy. He put on an average show but the food was VERY BLAND! Like literally zero flavor. The butter was butter not garlic butter. My steak was tender but lacked flavor even with the sauces! I was disappointed! What made the experience almost unbearable was that the exhaust vent was not working properly so the thick smoke was literally choking my hubby and me to death! My eyes were burning and my throat was sore Within an hour of arriving. Honestly, I think Beni's is better. But the price point here is slightly lower. The restaurant's layout is nice as is the decor. But they need to incorporate seasonings into the cooking process and GARLIC! read more

I have never been so disappointed in any restaurant due to a change in ownership as I was tonight. My family has been going to this restaurant for at least 10 years and it has always been amazing but tonight both the food and the service were horrible. I asked for the Shogun special with fillet instead of Wagyu since they changed the menu. I don't like fatty steaks and they definitely did not give me a fillet because it was the fattiest steak I've ever seen. My sister got shrimp and asked for only mushrooms and her food was cold and they gave her normal vegetables. After the food arrived, they said that our waitress would be coming with the fried rice shortly, but the rice did not come until about 30 minutes after we had got our food so everyone was already done eating when our food first arrived myself in two others at our table, asked for sauce that usually comes with the food and it took about 10 minutes for them to bring a small dish of sauce and then they only brought two so my grandpa had to flag down someone else to get us sauce and he had to ask for like three people before he got a sauce. The food quality has definitely gone down and I'm honestly just extremely disappointed. This is the restaurant that we would always go to for celebrations like birthdays, graduations, and anniversaries but now I don't think we'll ever go again. read more
