Breakfast buffet. Grits in the background. Salad bar to the right. Fruit across to the right.

Mixed feelings about this place. Came in on a Saturday around 1 pm. Staff was very pleasant and attentive. Food was decent but really lacked selections. Bacon and sausage were the only proteins available on the breakfast bar and fried chicken the only one on the lunch bar. Would have liked more variety for a little more than $20 including soda, tip, and tax.

I like Shoney's, I guess...after all, I worked at one as a high schooler back home in Florida and it's good to see one still thriving here in NOLA. There's another one in Morgan City as well. So, for the good, this restaurant is pretty resilient. They're one of what, maybe five in the nation? JK. But after Hurricane Ida, they opened up pretty quickly and were ready to feed their customers. Pretty awesome! Their new hours are 6am-2pm and they're still serving lunch at 11am. I think it'll serve them well to have the breakfast buffet all day, For the not so good, it's dated and can use a serious makeover or deep clean. Other than that, it's the usual bacon, eggs, cheese, gravy, biscuits, grits, French toast and sausage deal they've always had. However, the salad bar has greatly improved and I enjoyed a nice big salad for breakfast, which was actually good I might add. Oh and another feature about the buffet bar, for a $12' flat fee, take out is available....not bad! Lastly, considering the mass exodus of hospitality professionals, I'm glad they still have pleasant staff. I just wanna do my part and support our local businesses as much as I support Amazon ;)

11NOV23 ~ Thank you for supporting Veterans on Veteran's Day! The breakfast bar is as good as any. It has all you can eat of just about anything that you would want to eat. Our waitress was genuinely friendly, spoke well of all the Veterans, and gave great & fast service.

Great service Friendly staff Breakfast buffet is awesome in the morning. I was filling like glutton and got pancakes and biscuits with gravy. The pancakes we're amazing with some butter and syrup. The biscuits with the gravy were what really hit the spot, and the gravy was full of flavor. They also had good coffee. It's 10 breakfast buffet and you can't beat that price if you want a sample of everything.

Ah joy...the chain restaurant and I cross paths yet again! Think of this place as an IHOP, but with a buffet. Depending on who is in the kitchen, those items on the buffet can be packed with flavor. The breakfast buffet has been revamped a little bit to ensure freshness and quality. Along with the multiple fruits, grits, eggs, various types of sausages, chicken bites and salad fixings, they opted to let you have eggs fixed the way you like fresh. They also allow you to order pancakes fresh, to ensure they are high quality by the time you eat them, at no additional cost. Items are plentiful, and they constantly bringing in new items to restock the multitudes of people that attack the buffet ferociously. The breakfast/brunch buffet is always in high demand. The lunch and dinner buffet usually have some staple items such as fried chicken, soup and salads, along with other items that bring women, men and children alike with greased faces and glossy eyes trying to eat more and more! Simple desserts such as angel food cake and puddings are located on the buffet as well. If buffets are not your thing, this is a full course restaurant as well. Check the website for the multiple categories of food you will be provided. All in all, this is a good value for your buck. You pay a little over $10 with drink for the buffet, with your child paying about half of that amount. Give them a try.

Awesome salad bar. have a great home cooked meal, not a drive thru window!

From the moment we arrived, the food, service, and ambiance were absolutely outstanding. The staff was incredibly attentive, making us feel welcome throughout our meal. The portions are generous one of my sisters ordered a salad that was so large she had plenty left to take home for her husband. My other sister ordered the breakfast croissant, and I had the smash burger, which practically melted in my mouth. Of course, we had to save room for dessert! We shared the vanilla bean crème brûlée and the beignet fries, and both were absolutely delicious. If you enjoy a good cocktail, you'll love their drink menu too the cocktails are amazing, and the prices are just as impressive. What really set this restaurant apart, though, was the customer service. I had a small issue with my debit card, and the owner personally called me afterward to make sure everything had been taken care of. That level of care and attention is rare and speaks volumes about how much they value their customers. Brown Butter Depot has definitely earned a spot on my list of repeat visits. If you're visiting New Orleans, don't miss this hidden gem in Gretna. I gave them five stars, but honestly, they deserve ten!

It's always nice to find a place that offers a little something different instead of the usual tourist fare. I went with the Shrimp Carbonara, and the portion size was impressive. The dish was loaded with large, juicy shrimp and packed with flavor. It was one of those meals that looks great when it arrives and somehow tastes even better once you dig in. The service was quick, friendly, and kept everything moving smoothly, which was appreciated after a day of exploring. My only minor critique--and this is purely personal preference--would be that I would have preferred the shrimp tails removed. It certainly didn't take away from the meal, though. In fact, it led to one of the funniest moments of the trip when I squeezed a tail to remove it and accidentally launched it across the table toward one of my buddies. Thankfully, my aim was terrible, but the table got a good laugh out of it. Great food, generous portions, fast service, and a fun atmosphere. If you're looking for a solid meal while in New Orleans, Red Dog Diner is definitely worth a visit.

The Vintage - New Orleans, LA…read more The Vintage on Magazine Street was our very first food stop in New Orleans, and it turned out to be a great way for my wife and me to start our trip. From the moment we walked in, I really liked the atmosphere. The place has a cool, relaxed New Orleans vibe with a little bit of an upscale café feel without being overly fancy. It's the kind of spot where you can come in, sit down, enjoy some good food and drinks, and just take your time. Of course, we couldn't come to New Orleans and not start things off with beignets! We decided to go with the Fancy Beignet Flight, which gave us a chance to try several different flavors. We got the raspberry, s'mores, and Chantilly. They came out looking almost too good to eat, covered in powdered sugar with all the different fillings and toppings. Almost... because we definitely ate them! They were warm, sweet, messy in the best possible way, and a fun introduction to our New Orleans food adventure. For my meal, I ordered the Italian Panini with the truffle Parmesan fries. The sandwich was packed with meat, cheese, and flavor. Looking at that cross-section, they definitely weren't being stingy with the fillings! The bread was toasted nicely, and everything worked well together. The truffle fries were another highlight. They had plenty of seasoning and Parmesan and paired perfectly with the sandwich. I also grabbed a small iced mocha, which went really well with the food and especially the beignets. One thing I really enjoyed about The Vintage was the atmosphere. The interior has a lot of character, from the marble tables and vintage-style flooring to the bar and pastry display. It feels like a place that belongs on Magazine Street. It was comfortable enough that we didn't feel rushed and could just enjoy being in New Orleans together. The service was good during our visit, and everything came together for a really enjoyable first meal in the city. Our bill came to around $48 after tax and tip for the two of us, and considering we had a sandwich, upgraded fries, drinks, and the beignet flight, I thought it was a good experience for the money. Most importantly, this place gave my wife and me a great start to our New Orleans trip. When your first stop includes a loaded Italian panini, truffle Parmesan fries, iced coffee, and a whole flight of beignets, you know the trip is starting off right! Definitely a place I would visit again. Great food, great atmosphere, and a great first taste of New Orleans. 5 stars from us!

Still a New Orleans Gem - Visitor since 2018!…read more I'm updating my review as of April 2026 because it's important for visitors to know that The Vintage has absolutely "still got it." My last review was in 2020, and I'm happy to report that the quality and atmosphere remain top notch. Whether you are looking for a morning pick up or an evening wind-down, this spot covers all the bases. Their beignets and coffee are a classic must have, and I can personally vouch for their Americano. It is consistently well made and delicious. They also have a great selection of beer and cocktails if you're looking for something a bit stronger. What really sets this place apart, though, is the hospitality. We have always had great interactions with the staff, but a special shout out goes to Jimmy, whom we met this past week. He was incredibly kind and hospitable, truly making us feel right at home. Jimmy if you are reading this, THANK YOU!! If you want a spot that feels authentic, welcoming, and consistently excellent, put The Vintage at the top of your list!
