I remember when I was a teenager we took a trip to Georgia so my parents could show me where we had lived before we moved back to Maine. Along the way we found a Shoneys and ended up trying to find one every morning. We all loved the buffet style breakfast. So of course on my trip to see my son and daughter in law in Kentucky I had to try their breakfast buffet again! This one did not disappoint. I want to say I found this location very clean and the staff was very friendly. The buffet was smaller than I had remembered but seemed to not be missing anything. I loved the biscuits and gravy! I was so happy they had plain milk gravy without the sausage. It wasn't as good as moms but it was very good. They had the sausage gravy as well but I stuck to the plain. They had eggs and pancakes, French toast(slices and sticks), bacon, sausage, biscuits, grits, fruits and more! I definitely ate way more than I should have. I'm still not sure how I did it! It was a good thing I had walked from the hotel because I needed the exercise so I could get in the car for the trip back! I'd definitely recommend this particular Shoneys. This place is simply a no. Do not even waste ur time. We waited for about 45 minutes. In the waiting area it was shoulder to shoulder. Finally we got sat at a very sticky dirty table, and I look to my right and see a moldy window. Next, the food was a solid 2/10. The eggs were powder eggs (im in the army and eat powdered eggs in the field)... the gravy was horrible. The grits were absolutely the worst thing to ever be served, same goes for the potatoes. We got refills like 15 minutes after we finished our drinks. They tried over charging us, I had to make them fix it. I will never come back. The food here is solid for a Shoney's. My fried shrimp was crispy and satisfying. The cole slaw was a shredded style (which I like very much) with a tasty sweet, creamy, vinegar dressing. My husband enjoyed the fish sandwich and commented how delicious and perfectly prepared it was. His onion rings were nicely fried and the onion was easy to bite into. Although we both ordered fried dishes, they were light and not greasy. On a side note, the buffet was available and the food looked delicious. A server standing in the center of the buffet will serve your food choices onto your plate for you. We were in the mood for fried fish and therefore decided to forgo the buffet. Our waitress was nice and checked on us often. The place is clean and inviting. Definitely would dine here again if we're ever in the area again. read more

If you like your tastebuds, do NOT eat here! My family and I were traveling back home and decided to eat here. It was after 1pm but they were still serving breakfast. Well the waitress said it was brunch, but what it really was, was disgusting. Eggs were from powder, tasteless, greasy gravy, hard biscuits, salad bar was mostly frozen, the French toast was stale, the mashed potatoes were so watery that it could have passed for a thick soup, the brown gravy had a thick skin over it and the ranch - how the heck you ruin ranch dressing I'll never know, but the ranch was sour and tasted off, so bitter I couldn't eat any of my salad that I managed to chip away from the ice. The ice tea was old and bitter. The cherry tomatoes were nice and it was clean. That's about all I can say that's positive. If you're asking why we just paid and left, it's because our Asian waitress had another complaint from a separate group and she was very forceful and rude, arguing with them about the taste of the food and she straight up told them they were wrong and that there was nothing wrong with the food. So, we gave our donation to Shoneys and left. Forever! Oh and we're in Clarksville staying on the weekends or during the week for work a LOT! Save yourself and eat out of BK's dumpster. We passed Shoneys and thought, WOW, it's been forever since we've seen this place. So, we gave it a try. Now we remember and realize there's a reason why Shoneys does not exist hardly anywhere anymore. The ambiance is dark and the wait staff is not truly happy to see you. We went with the brunch buffet with some coffee. The coffee tasted as if the pot had been sitting for quite some time. I've been in the Navy that had better 48 hour coffee than this place. The waitress said it was a "robust" blend and was new. No, we don't believe that for a minute. The food was average at best and the menus looked as if they are original to this restaurant. Not sure why this place has bad reviews. The location is older, so don't expect a shiny new restaurant...but don't let the appearance scare you off. The restaurant is dated and needs new paint / booths etc....but the food was great. The restaurant is right off of the interstate, so def saves time and the hassle of going down Wilma Rudolph Rd (which is horrible.) It was not crowded, no wait. My breakfast was amazing and fast....eggs, bacon, biscuit, potatoes, & pancakes. Everything was cooked perfectly (nothing burnt) and tasted great. Nothing fancy because it is a chain restaurant, but everything was as it should be. The waitress was very nice & friendly and she constantly checked on us. Just recently moved to Clarksville and we were seeking breakfast spots. Cracker Barrel was packed so we chose Shoney's. The restaurant was pretty busy, but our waitress was on top of her game. Truly sweet and attentive. My husband had the buffet eggs. They were pretty good. The bacon was crisp and fresh. I had the slim omelette which was runny, but tasty. Fresh food, no doubt. We visited Shoney's for the first time in several years, and decided that the buffet was a good idea for a quick lunch. We were wrong. While the salad bar area was OK, the rest was, well, awful. Nothing seemed to taste quite right - either no flavor at all or a bad taste. There was some sort of macaroni salad that they said was made "with honey-mustard dressing", but one bite was enough to convince me that it wasn't edible. It had an awful taste and it smelled like model airplane glue. I'm not sure what it was, but even the waitress commented that "it doesn't smell like food". Perhaps we would have been wiser to order something off the menu instead of the buffet, but we won't be back to try it. I would not recommend Shoney's, at least not the buffet, to anyone. read more
