Went to visit Santa Monica and wanted some breakfast and stoped by Shoop's I saw it the day before and decided to finally try it. It was one of the best breakfast I had throughout my vacation. Ok We were "booted out" of Little Prince I had always wanted to go to because of a 4 hours wait (what's???) and you apparently have to make reservation 3 days in advance!!! Service: super kind and fast! We had the bacon Pancakes, the blueberry pancake and the salmon pancakes. They were all equally mastered! We'll be back! They have great cooks here, and I do love the fact that the place is small, but spacious enough where you don't feel restricted. It is right on the corner, on Main St, so the view is great. It's a bit elevated from the street, so you look at everything from a higher point, great spot to eat if you love watching people and the world go by. Great place for all my "European cravings." Here I can get everything from Germany or Netherlands, especially this time of the year I love to try their "stollen" or anything Marzipan. Excellent selection cold meat and cheese. Their typical German bread is mouthwatering and super healthy. For as long as I can remember service has always been excellent. The service and the attached market were high points at Shoop's. We were really made to feel welcome and like long time customers...on our first visit. Coffee was really good and the cup was never empty. I had no idea what many of the products in the market were as many of the labels, including nutritional labels, were in foreign languages. I almost felt like buying a random item, sort of like buying a lottery ticket. There are very good vegetarian options in the restaurant, with vege turkey and vege sausage available. For what we ordered, pancakes were the best...by far. The banana pancakes tasted as good as they looked. I don't think you could go wrong with any of their pancake offerings. Nothing wrong with the vege omelette, but nothing to distinguish it. The tofu scramble was very bland, a little hot sauce helped. If I was to order it again I would get a side of vege sausage and mix it in. Baguette breakfast sandwich was ok, as were the potatoes. Having the option for a salad or fruit as one of your breakfast sides was a big plus. I would say if you are in the mood for pancakes definitely put this as one of your top choices. read more
