Food and service is very good but they told me the wait was 20 minutes when I checked in and we waited an hour.

Used to eat here when it was Jackie's Place, new owners spiffed the place up, clean and nice inside.

I mean, as good as advertised. Holy cow. One of our best meals in two trips to Michigan (Saugatuck…read moreand South Haven). All reservations were booked out for weeks when we had checked, but we showed up at opening and it sort of worked out. Let me explain.. A lot of other families had the same idea. Show up early, get in, get the kids fed early. It made for a line to check in at the host stand that looked concerning but it wasn't a crazy wait, ultimately. About 30 minutes. We still got what we wanted, a nice seat overlooking the water. One thing I'll say in that regard was there was a HUGE upfront rush, but then around 6:30 or so, the place had emptied out quite a bit. Might be useful knowledge if trying to time an entry here. ANYWAYS. The food. Phenomenal. So good. I stuck with standard fried chicken (ie not Nashville, not spicy) and it was amazing. Salty, well brined, flavorful. It even held up amazingly well cold out of the fridge the next day. Some of the best fried chicken I've had in years. The fries were insanely good as well. The greens (one of the side choices) were not my thing as they didn't have a lot of flavor. The only miss of the evening. My oldest enjoyed her burger, and my youngest thought the chicken was too spicy (read: peppery) but they've been uber picky lately so take that with a grain of salt (or pepper). Had a lovely cocktail here as well, called the Sunday Christian: Gin, Cocchi Americano, Bianco Vermouth, and orange bitters. I'm realizing I have failed you all but forgetting to mention the most glorious, buttery, flaky biscuit that comes with the fried chicken meal. It was a star of the show, and the only reason I'm just now mentioning it is that I ate it so quickly it disappeared into my memories. Wonderful place, and I'm sure we will go back next time in Saugatuck.

AVOID RYAN AT ALL COSTS!!!…read more i love the 205 so so much as a hope college student, and their avocado toast is a godsend. however, i now know to avoid going when ryan is there. he is extremely rude, unkind, and unprofessional. every single time i've seen him, he is either snapping at somebody or complaining about his job to everyone who can hear him (which is crazy because i think he's an owner??). some people are just not meant to have front-facing, customer service jobs and that's okay! he is scatterbrained and will burn your toast, forget you have to pay, and huff & puff when HE has to retype YOUR ORDER because he forgot to take the payment. i stood there with cash in my hands for five minutes after he walked away, to the point where others in the line behind me started laughing at the absurdity of his behavior. he also constantly has an attitude, yells at customers for mundane reasons, and consistently mixes up orders. otherwise the 205 is perfect! it is so upsetting that one person really ruins the place this much. 5 stars for food & ambience, 1 star for ryan... evens out to like 3 stars.

The menu covers a lot of food options, and their desserts are pretty delicious Got a brulatte and the slightly chewy sugar topping is quite fun! Classic cold brew is also very solid. Reasonable prices for food and drinks as well. It can get REALLY busy though, so be patient. Especially busy in the morning on the weekend. It was fine during the daytime during the weekday. I bought some merch as well as food, including chocolate covered blueberries and a cute dog collar for my new puppy! (See picture). Got breakfast here twice and got the kids breakfast quesadilla, which was big enough for 2 people, in my opinion. Also got a blueberry crisp iced coffee and donuts and pastries for later definitely a must when in Holland

Bowerman's on 8th is a love letter to the humble blueberry, written in the language of warm lattes, fresh pastries, and shelves overflowing with jars that seem to bottle summer itself. As someone with a dairy allergy, coffee shops can sometimes feel like places built for everyone else. But here there was kindness in the details--different milk options, thoughtful choices, and the feeling that everyone should be able to enjoy a good cup of coffee. Traveling from out of state, this was one of the places I circled on my map, hoping reality would match the stories. Somehow, it was even better. The blueberry latte was the kind of drink that slows time. Bright and refreshing, sweet without trying too hard, tasting like a morning walk through a Michigan orchard after the rain. Around me were cases filled with treats and shelves stacked with jams, syrups, and every blueberry creation imaginable, each one carrying a little piece of the region's soul. There is something beautiful about a place that chooses one simple thing and perfects it. Bowerman's does not merely sell coffee--it celebrates harvests, local traditions, and the quiet joy of gathering around a table. You leave with a warm cup in your hands, a bag of blueberry treasures under your arm and a feeling of satisfaction. Some places are worth the drive. Some are worth the hype. Bowerman's on 8th is both.
