I found this spot because it was highly rated for safety on the Find Me Gluten Free app, and they…read moredefinitely live up to that reputation. Their menu has a massive selection of GF and GFO items clearly marked, which is always a relief. We visited on a Sunday and joined the online waitlist ahead of time. The wait was about an hour, but as soon as we checked in, we were seated within a few minutes. The inside of the restaurant is really cool with a great retro, 50s-style vibe. The service started a bit slow, as the server took a while to greet us, though she was very polite and apologized for the delay. I started with a fresh-squeezed orange juice, which was absolutely to die for, even if it was a bit pricey at around $7. When ordering the Eggs Benedict, I made sure to tell the server I have Celiac disease. She was very knowledgeable and informed me that they could sub the regular English muffin for a gluten-free one, or use white or whole wheat gluten-free bread. When I asked about the sides, she reassured me that both the hash browns and home-style potatoes are prepared on a dedicated allergy cooktop, so I safely opted for the hash browns. The food did take quite a long time to come out. When it arrived, there were a few inaccuracies--my Benedict came with corned beef instead of ham, and it was served on the gluten-free white toast rather than the GF English muffin I had requested. However, it did come out with a reassuring allergy stick in the food, and because we were so hungry, I didn't question the mix-up. The food itself was excellent. Wrapping up the meal was incredibly convenient since you can pay with Apple Pay right from a QR code on the receipt, and our server even kindly asked if we wanted any drinks to go before we left. Overall, the Celiac protocols and dedicated allergy cooking spaces make this an incredibly safe place to eat. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait, and double-check your plate when it arrives!

Still good! We…read moredon't go to Deboer's often because it's in a high traffic location that attracts swarms of people/ tourists. The food is good, but not usually worth these long wait times imo. Today, was a cloudy and cold Wednesday mid morning. The place was busy, but no long wait times. The food is always good. Everything I've ever eaten on the menu is good... but I have a special affinity for pig 'n the blankets, banket, and any Mexican inspired breakfast item in the menu. Today I had the chorizo Benny. It was fabulous and worth the $15 imo. Our waiter, Pedro, was the best! He's worked there for over a decade and knows the family that runs this restaurant--- 3 Dutch brothers--- he gave me a run down on the lore and all the pictures are of their family photos hanging around the restaurant. I think that's pretty cool. They will be opening and expanding into a new restaurant location on the corner of River and Lakewood Blvd sometime in the near future. That location will have more of a "hipster" vibe with breakfast cocktails, etc. Check them out when you want... but if you don't want to wait come during off peak hours and off season times. Make sure to peruse their bakery for some goodies to take home. Salud.

Bowerman's on 8th is a love letter to the humble blueberry, written in the language of warm lattes, fresh pastries, and shelves overflowing with jars that seem to bottle summer itself. As someone with a dairy allergy, coffee shops can sometimes feel like places built for everyone else. But here there was kindness in the details--different milk options, thoughtful choices, and the feeling that everyone should be able to enjoy a good cup of coffee. Traveling from out of state, this was one of the places I circled on my map, hoping reality would match the stories. Somehow, it was even better. The blueberry latte was the kind of drink that slows time. Bright and refreshing, sweet without trying too hard, tasting like a morning walk through a Michigan orchard after the rain. Around me were cases filled with treats and shelves stacked with jams, syrups, and every blueberry creation imaginable, each one carrying a little piece of the region's soul. There is something beautiful about a place that chooses one simple thing and perfects it. Bowerman's does not merely sell coffee--it celebrates harvests, local traditions, and the quiet joy of gathering around a table. You leave with a warm cup in your hands, a bag of blueberry treasures under your arm and a feeling of satisfaction. Some places are worth the drive. Some are worth the hype. Bowerman's on 8th is both.

I had fun looking around at all the things to buy -- lots of spreads, coffee, merch, blueberry things, kitchen items, stickers, etc. I loved that they had big bags of frozen blueberries for sale - next time I'll bring my cooler! I was heading to dinner so I didn't get any food, but their menu features sweet and savory breakfast options, lunch sandwiches, bowls and salads, soups, even dinner options like a burger. Everything sounded great so I'd love to come back for lunch. The pastry case was calling me, so I got one blueberry donut and a blueberry lemon donut to take home. They were fresh and lightly glazed. The lemon was my favorite. There is a seating area and this looks like a really nice place to enjoy an afternoon. I will hopefully be back soon!
