Great breakfast spot! The wait was reasonable for a Saturday brunch place but it was raining so it may have been slower than usual. They had both indoor and outdoor seating even with the rain. We ordered the cornbread tall stack pancakes that came with lemon and blueberries. We were not a fan of the cornbread because the texture came out gritty. The pancakes themselves were delicious but we were not a fan of the texture but they were kind of to let us switch it out for their vanilla French toast. It was perfectly cooked! We ordered it with the chantilly cream and fresh blueberries with the French toast which gave it the perfect amount of sweetness. Our favorite dish was the angus short rib and hash brown potato cakes with scrambled eggs. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the short rib and hash browns were really good. Sorry! Won't return. Visited on Saturday last week. We were on the waitlist for an hour and a half before we got a table, which was ok for us because it was supposed to be worth the wait. We were sat out back next to the dumpsters which were ripe. We mentioned the smell to the server and he was awesome and pulled a few strings to reduce the odor's strength a bit. The short rib breakfast was good and the mocha was super tasty. I ordered a burger medium and received one well done. Honestly, why even ask? Everything else everyone ordered was mediocre at best. That was so disappointing. They finished by bringing the bill along with some shortbread cookies that tasted and looked like dog treats. I love this place. Everything is yummy. We never seem to take pictures of our food, we just eat it. Nothing is unusual, you get what you expect, except it is hot and delicious - the waitstaff is on it - and when their computer for ordering went down, they made sure to let us know that the wait was a little longer and they were seating fewer because the work was more labor intensive - how great is that, instead of trying to seat all tables anyway and everyone waiting too long for food. The coffee is fresh and hot and it keeps coming - theyll even pull a great espresso, ask for it to be short. I love visiting my Mom in LJ and coming here most mornings before we head to the beach. You should park in the beach lot (time unlimited) and walk over, eat, then back to the lot to unload your stuff and mark your spot on the sand. I'll look for some pictures and report back. Giving an average score until we try again. Maybe it was just a hot bad day here. First finding parking is no joke, but that is NOT storehouse kitchen's fault. It's just Carlsbad village has no parking ever... let alone Labor Day weekend. But, when we did get there we were seated immediately which was good, but maybe it was literally only an hour before closing that's why... we were sat outside and our table was clean, but there were flying everywhere... which kinda sucked... I had to keep swatting flies away so much I literally didn't get a chance to really eat. Next, we placed our orders. My husband got the grilled cheese breakfast sandwich, I got the two eggs and a side, plus an extra side of Roma tomatoes... not worth it.... Like how you gonna charge an extra $3 for 1 cut up tomato? It doesn't even cost that much to add fruit AND yogurt as a side? I thought that was ridiculous. Then my hash browns were a bit oily and undercooked everywhere it wasn't browned... next for. The kids pancakes... not worth the money either... what you see in the picture is literally all you get... that's it. And don't let the picture fool you, or the plate it's on... they were just small, normal pancakes that didn't taste any different from Kirkland brand pancake mix.... My daughter loves pancakes... and took one bite and she didn't even want it... she instead opted to eat my oily hash browns... next my husbands grilled cheese breakfast sandwich was also pretty small. He said it was a good sandwich... just pretty small for how much their charging for it... Next, the table next to us called over the waitress... and we heard her saying their was a really long black hair in her omelet... lol she said she knows it's not the waitresses because she was blonde but she didn't want to eat anymore because it turned her off the food, and hearing that turned me off of mine too just hearing it. The waitress took the plate back and I was watching her return it to the window... I couldn't hear what she was saying but the chef (male) took and and rolled his eyes and huffed... after that I didn't see him, nor did I care to know because we got our check right after and saw the ridiculous charge for the side of tomatoes... which wasn't even a fresh Roma tomato anyway because it started to get that white glossy silk over it right before mold starts to grow. So I didn't even eat my tomato btw... Idk... Outside our food, staff was pretty cool. Our waitress was cool and so was the host. But they were close to closing so it did seem like they tried to push people out a bit. A waitress didn't she was really nice and great. She provided awesome service... but yah... we weren't impressed... but we said we'd give it another try later. Like I said maybe it was a bad day. Pros: friendly staff, indoor & outdoor seating, close to public transit station. Cons: overpriced, small portions, nothing special about food quality. read more

My sis and I were on the hunt for a brunch spot that allowed us to take our pups, so we arrived at Shorehouse Kitchen. We were happy with our choice. My review is mostly for the ambience and the customer service. Being Sunday, we expected a long wait time. We waited around 45 minutes to be seated. It's a cute spot with ample seating outside and inside. We opted for the cute tables outside so our pups could get a slight breeze. Our waitress was friendly and prompt. Checked in on us just the right amount of times, not too often, not too long to the point where we were waiting for refills etc. She answered all our questions regarding the menu and treated our pups as customers too. Super cute! The manager was amazing as well! The sun moved in the middle of our meal and he didn't hesitate to move an umbrella so that we had shade for the rest of our time there. The food was okay. I've had better chilaquiles, but they weren't too bad. A little soggy for my taste, but had a nice flavor to them. The eggs were a little undercooked, nothing too bad. My sisters short ribs and potato cakes were really good though. I recommend that plate. Kids pancakes are just that, pancakes. I will share that my son didn't like them and he loves pancakes. I think they had a slight residue taste of some hamburger grease and that's why he didn't like them. Food portions are quite small though. Margaritas are delish! And they have Mexican coke! Yum!! Our Corgis absolutely loved their brunch! Fito's Feast is the way to any doggys heart! Bacon, burger patty, and turkey all in one. Huge portion too. We split it for both pups. Keep in mind the village can be a hassle to find parking so I recommend leaving a bit early to circle around to find a spot. We will be back again! The only downside to my experience is my Bloody Mary came after the food arrived, but it was still good. Food was outstanding, the food blew me away there's no way I couldn't give this place 5 stars. The omelette was so flavorful and cheesy! The hash browns were the best I've ever had, so much seasoning and cooked so crispy just how I like it. My boyfriend loved his French toast as well. LOVE this place!! this is our favorite brunch place in north county for sure. we have ordered almost every single menu on the item and none have disappointed!! our only "complaint" is that their breakfast potatoes come with bell peppers and i am allergic so we always have to order hashbrowns (but they are perfectly crispy everytime)! their alcoholic drinks are also a little disappointing, just a little off in our opinion, but the orange juice and great lattes make up for it 10 fold. they also have a great puppy menu (one of the only ones we have seen for brunch in the area), and our dog LOVES the maple cured bacon and scrambled eggs!! she is always super excited to come here! read more

The servers are super nice, can be a bit slow at times, but always accommodating. I usually get their omelettes with breakfast potatoes and they are delicious. This place has a great, laid back vibe. They get very busy so I highly recommend getting on the waitlist while you're on the way through Yelp. We were greeted immediately and seated right within the window promised. The only bummer was that the food took a while to come out, they brought out my daughter's food about 30 minutes after ordering, then my wife and my food about 20 minutes later. The food was delicious, but they do have a heavy hand with butter which I'm not complaining about, my wife did say that the hashbrowns were delicious but tasted like crunchy butter. I would only add the St. George Green Chili Vodka if you want a truly spicy drink. The Crispy Parmesan Risotto & Honey Cured Bacon eggs benedict was delicious and unlike any benedict I've had. I loved the substitution of risotto cakes for the standard English muffin. It made the dish more decadent and I liked how the flavor complimented the arugula. For my side I went with the O'Brien Breakfast Potatoes. I also got a side of ranch to dip my potatoes in! I was very impressed by how fresh this tasted and loved that it was heavier on the dill.
