What an amazing place for good food and great vibes in La Jolla Shore. Although parking can be tricky, it's well worth the effort for a great spot for fresh quality food. And it's delicious!!! Allie was our host and was able to find a great place to eat. All the tables are great with even an outside covered patio available. Jade our waitress was very friendly and nice. She was very patient and professional and listened to us in a kind way. With young ones with us, it is challenging. However, Jade ensured that we enjoyed our meal at the Shorehouse Kitchen. At brunch, my go to dish is the French toast that will tell me the quality and care from the kitchen. I was blown away at how delicious the French Toast was. The name is the "CARAMELIZED TAHITIAN VANILLA BEAN FRENCH TOAST with Fresh Blueberries or Bananas and Chantilly Cream, or a Grilled Pineapple". Jade gave away the secret ingredient to me and I was impressed. An applied Maillard reaction with brown sugar brought the French Toast a new level of yumminess. The Chantilly Cream took it over the top, not to sweet and very creamy. Yum!!! Also tried the "RASPBERRY TRUFFLE MOCHA St. George Vanilla Bean Vodka. Raspberry Liqueur, Callebaut Belgian Chocolate, Espresso, Steamed Milk, Chantilly Cream" . AMAZING!!! The Shorehouse Kitchen is a gem with fantastic food and service. Definitely a return visit call for the family!!!
This place is 10 out of 10. Was looking for a cute breakfast spot to go to breakfast too before going to the aquarium. I got the mango guava pancakes, which were out of this world. The granola on top with the guava sauce was perfect. Also got a latte which was very good.
Came here on Friday for late breakfast after a hike. We were seated right away but the parking can be a challenge. Service was very friendly and attentive. I had tofu egg white frittata and decaf cappuccino. Food was pretty decent, but not great. Coffee was very mediocre. My husband had a cheeseburger and he enjoyed it. They have lots of standard breakfast options that you can order if you want that. They have some indoor and outdoor dining. And the vibe is kind of like a beach diner but probably a little better than that. So overall a pretty decent experience.
We are always looking for a good brunch spot and Shorehouse will definitely be making it into our rotations. Honestly might have the best crispy breakfast potatoes I've had. The short rib potato cakes were also amazing. The mango and guava pancakes were great and was a nice twist to the usual flavors. I was not the biggest fan of the pork carnitas cornbread Benedict and would probably try something different next time--it was a little too bland and the texture too one dimensional. Overall, though, a very solid brunch spot in SD!
This is a cute little cafe to have brunch at. They have a variety of coffees, fresh pressed juices, and booze if you're in the mood. They have patio seating outside so you can soak in the sun, people watch, and enjoy a nice meal. I lovedddd the caramelized Tahitian vanilla French toast! It had a little crunch from the caramelization of the vanilla on the French toast. We added the strawberry, blueberry, and chantilly cream to it. Perfect blend of sweet, tangy, fluffy, with a little crunch. Definitely a good sweet treat to start the day. I got a spinach, Swiss cheese, bacon omelet. The hash browns were pretty good! Crunchy, salty, and went well with the eggs. I was hoping for more of a coffee flavor in the white mocha. They make the whipped cream from scratch. The mocha was mid. I would say this place is a lil over a 4 star place. The beach bowl is an açaí bowl on top of Greek yogurt. I thought it was a little too tangy for my taste. I think having either the yogurt or açaí bowl works better than mixing the two.
Came to shoreline kitchen during a quick san diego trip! We came on a saturday morning around 9:30 AM and there was no wait. Parking around is a bit hard to find, ultimately had to park a few blocks down. We got the maple chicken sandwich and an eggs benedict and both were really good. Service was 10/10
Food was amazing. Nice robust flavor from the béarnaise sauce on the Salmon Benedict. Waiter was very pleasant. He asked what kind of side of toast did I want with my Benedict, I responded with "oh? There's toast included? Maybe Rye?" And he said "oh no, my apologies, it doesn't come with toast". I must have had a really sad look on my face when I said "oh ok". because he said "you know what, I'll throw in a side of complimentary toast". Anyways, great little niche close to the ocean. Nice light cool breeze. Street Parking was easy to find
I came for brunch on a Thursday around 11:30 and the place was busy, but not overly packed so seating was quick. I got the Classic Benedict, with the Crispy Hash Browns, and though the hollandaise was delicious there were some problems with the texture of the English Muffin. One side (that came with an already punctured-ish egg) was really tough and hard to cut through. However, the other side was light and fluffy. Another part I wasn't a fan of was that their Canadian Bacon leaned on a thicker cut and a saltier side; but there was still a generous amount of slices. Service was great and were kind in making some modifications to the menu with the scramble. There was also not a long wait time for the food to come out. Ambience leans towards beachy with a nice outside patio and a cozy seating on the inside. Though I didn't fully enjoy the item I got, I would go again and try others of their classic brunch or lunch menu.
In the area for a wedding and stopped by this brunch place. It was phenomenal. We got the chicken sandwich and the spinach/mushroom omelette. Both flavors were amazing!! Service was also good. Recommend
It pains me to leave 3 stars but the service was SO slow. Maybe it was just this timing or being understaffed but it didn't seem busy when we arrived. The food was delicious and the service was slow. After our day date doing kayaking on Sunday morning (11am) across the street at EveryDay California, we saw Shorehouse across the street and the reviews looked good. We came in at 1pm on Sunday and quickly got a table. Thankfully we just had our party of 2. I did see the Yelp waitlist showed 17-30 min but we got right in and seated outside. We were quickly seated but I wish the rest of the experience would have been faster. Our server took our order after 10 min. FOOD- it took a while to get our food. 40 minutes after ordering and a guest that came after us got their food before us. -Monterey omelette - 8.5/10- my husband thought it was good with the chiles and made with quality bacon. -Egg white Mediterranean omelette- 8/10 - I liked that they offered healthy options. The omelette wasn't soaked in oil which was appreciated! -Caramelized Tahitian French toast 10/10 - I had a bite and this was delicious. We did have to ask for syrup though. Overall, this is a tasty place but maybe avoid sitting out front or going on a busy day.
Enjoyed a few hours at the beach. Asked a local where to get food was directed to the strip of restaurants. Fee options but when we stopped at Shorehouse Kitchen we knew we'd be happy with the choice as the person who greeted us was friendly and said "take your time". The roasted red pepper bisque had grilled cheese toast that was tasty and filling. The cucumber avocado sandwich with the seasoned fries complimented the soup perfectly. They also serve breakfast foods as well. Plenty of seating indoor, covered patio and on the street dining. Any seat is the right seat
Popular breakfast place with a comprehensive menu. There can be a wait, as the staff seems a bit overstretched. Unfortunately, the table we were seated at had a sticky surface that did not feel properly sanitized. The owner should consider replacing this type of furniture, as a clean and comfortable dining environment would make the experience much more pleasant for everyone.
Cute spot at one end of the La Jolla shores downtown strip with lots of outdoor, dog-friendly seating. They even have a full doggie menu! We arrived at 1 on a Sunday and I added us got the yelp waitlist while walking up. However upon arrival a minute later there were multiple tables available and they were able to seat us right away. Yelp said there was a 10-min wait with a few parties in front of us, so would not rely on yelp waitlist in the future.. Menu looked great, with classics as well as special items. Something for everyone between the breakfast and lunch menus, as well as a pretty extensive cafe and alcoholic menu. I was eyeing the Kyoto coffee, juices, and samovar teas, but landed on the St. George Ibarra Mocha instead since my MIL went for a spritz and we're on holiday! It wasn't too sweet but definitely a nice treat and best as a dessert after our savory lunches. Her limoncello spritz was also super yummy and both were booooozy. Carnitas poblano cornbread benedict - I don't typically get Benedicts but this sounded intriguing and so glad we got it. Perfectly poached eggs and flavorful carnitas on this great cornbread - no hollandaise needed (kept on side). The hashbrowns were crispy as promised. Quinoa pear pomegranate salad was a great combo of flavors and textures! Filling even without adding more protein (though recommend adding perhaps salmon). Tarragon chicken salad was ok - surprisingly underseasoned, not very flavorful, and the chicken was chopped smaller than I prefer. I'd skip. It was a very light dish, if that's what you're feeling! Great friendly service which we appreciated. The pastries inside looked really good too. I'd love to try a bite of those, their mango guava pancakes, and poblano white chicken chili in the future.

This was a sweet spot for breakfast / brunch. Probably my favorite place in La Jolla. Not sure how crowded it is over the weekends as it was another week day brunch. Service was wonderful- she noticed my skimpy hash browns so quickly brought additional on a side plate. The hash browns were perfectly crisped and nice and soft on the inside. Water and coffee were timely refilled. And I loved the napkin. :) really thick yet soft! Egg was perfectly wrapping the mushrooms- didn't taste particularly wild or anything but it is what it is. The brioche French toast was exceptional - vanilla bean so good. The bacon was perfectly crisped and the risotto deliciously and perfectly fried underneath perfectly poached eggs. I didn't eat all of the dishes on my own but got a chance to sample many and nothing disappointed. I really enjoyed the vibes here and the food is nice and just the right amount of breakfast grease. Will definitely be back! read more

This was our go-to breakfast spot during our vacation to La Jolla. The staff were very friendly, and the service was prompt. Visiting from Texas in the summer, it was a nice contrast being able to enjoy indoor/outdoor dining. We tried a variety of different food and coffee during our multiple visits. Enjoyed the lavender latte, and the tofu and egg white frittata. We will definitely be back the next time we are in town. read more

Egg-cellent brunch, egg-cellent service XD! Shorehouse Kitchen had fantastic ratings on Yelp and great looking food. My friend and I were starving after a hike and eager to dig into some fantastic brunch, and Shorehouse delivered! I am very glad I checked the online waitlist as we made our way to the restaurant and saw that there was a 1-hour long wait. I joined the waitlist on Yelp and was instructed to check in at the front when we arrived. Boy am I glad I followed the instructions! The wonderful woman at the front was actually able to fit our party of 2 in immediately, and we were seated 30 minutes earlier than expected. Remember, check in when you arrive! Service was friendly and prompt. I knew I had to try the fresh-squeezed orange juice. Sure enough, the juice was delicious and refreshing! I got the smallest size (9 oz) and it was tiny, so definitely recommend getting the larger one. I downed it so fast. I love that at the top of their menu, they include where they source some of their foods so you can see how local and fresh it is. The menu is what I like to call a "Goldilocks menu," not too expansive nor too limited. They have all the typical brunch foods, including pretty much every preparation of egg, as well as some fun twists on the classics including creative pancakes and egg benedicts. I have my eye on the mango pancakes with guava syrup or the Parm risotto benedict for my next visit! This time, I got the egg white and organic tofu frittata. It contains roast veggies and has an arugula side salad. I was very impressed by the flexibility of our server! There was another dish I considered ordering because it had pistachio pesto, which I really wanted to try. I liked the idea of the egg white frittata more, and asked if I could add a side of the pesto. Not only did I get my wish granted, it didn't even cost extra. Honestly the pesto was fantastic with the frittata so I'm so glad I requested it! I loved how the pistachio flavor paired with the basil, and it seemed grittier than past pesto I've tried so it felt really natural. I was really impressed by the texture of the egg whites. They were cooked perfectly until just set, giving them a softer, moister texture than my attempts at egg whites at home. The roast veggies were great as well. The frittata was honestly a bit bland by itself, but the pesto paired perfectly with it. The lemony arugula salad added a bright, peppery flavor as well. The frittata came with two pieces of perfectly toasted toast (I got the sourdough) as well as homestyle potatoes. The bread was honestly delicious by itself, it was so fresh. The potatoes were perfectly cooked, not a single soggy or crunchy potato among them. My friend and I also split a short stack of cornmeal pancakes with lemon and blueberries. You LITERALLY cannot go wrong with that flavor combo for breakfast foods, and the cornmeal gave the pancakes a grittier and more savory taste than regular pancakes. The pancakes were massive and came with a side of butter and a cute little maple syrup dispenser. Another impressive dish! With the creative and well-executed menu as well as fantastic, accommodating service, Shorehouse Kitchen will definitely be a repeat brunch spot for me! There's a reason there was a long wait on a Sunday morning! This adorable little restaurant looks like a house and had a homemade feel to their food. Staff were excellent and attentive. Their short rib hash was rich and heavy in the best way. The meat fell apart so easily and was delicious when covered with the egg. The French toast was also delicious of course. I loved the added touch of walnuts with the bananas. And I topped it off with freshly squeezed OJ! Super tart and sweet. Loved it. A bit pricey for an every sunday for me but it was a very nice splurge. read more

Service was great inside outside seating I'd recommend the back and outside eating. For handicap people very easy access to the back with very nice covered back area. Grandparents liked it and their picky Very dog friendly with dog dishes which was funny to watch them be lavished. I got the burger with BLT thick cuts of bacon made me happy burger was 9/10. They need a spicy ranch to dip. Good times read more

Love that I can join the wait list & tell how many parties are ahead of me so I know what the wait time is before I leave the house. The menu has many gluten-free options & everything we've tried has been great. My favorite is the short rib hash & eggs. The portion is good for really hungry folks but it's enough for me to enjoy twice! Nice outdoor patio & smaller indoor seating; tables also on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant. read more

I went out to brunch with friends here. They have a variety of different options to choose from and even have a "Doggie Menu" for your four-legged companions. There are two items I wanted to highlight that stood out to me in terms of presentation and flavor! The first item is the Short Rib Hash & Eggs. The hashbrowns were nicely cooked and crispy. The Cabernet braised Short Ribs were flavorful. The next item is the Mango Pancakes with Homemade Granola & Guava Syrup! It was definitely a perfect treat! The only struggle was parking! This breakfast spot is located within a busy area amongst other shops and food spots and close to the beach. Finding parking was a struggle but my friends and I were able to find a couple of spots within the neighborhood a few blocks away. P.S. Overpriced and mediocre. Got the California omelette with avocado and for 1/6th of an avocado I got charged 3$!!! Also the omelette was greasy and flavorless. They got my order wrong the first time. The cappuccino was very good I got it with the homemade macadamia milk and wasn't told that it was going to add 2$ to the cost of the cappuccino. The tomatoes on the side of the omelette tasted sour and rotten. Overall a waste of 40$ read more
This place has a beach ambiance and casual vibe. You can tell it it is a go-to spot for people coming out of the water. It took our server a little under 10 minutes to get to us with cutlery and water. You get served a good portion here, but the food did not taste (or look) fresh. read more

Cute brunch spot for a weekend trip to SD. The food was pretty good, with the one standout being the Vanilla Bean French toast! Very flavorful with a nice crispy exterior, fresh berries, and the BEST vanilla whipped cream. I also had the salmon Benedict, which was lacking salt and didn't have the best flavor. The breakfast potatoes and hash browns were both great. The staff was friendly. Service was slow, but understandable due to the high volume. There was plenty of outdoor, Covid-friendly seating. Bottom line: get the French toast! read more
Went here on a Saturday morning so it was busy as to be expected. This area usually has no parking, so I recommend coming early to ensure you have time to find a spot. The wait was properly around 50 min. The environment itself was ok. My party was seated outside on the street, so there was quite a bit of foot traffic. The service was overall decent. The server was nice and came by to take the order and drop off food. The food did take a while, but considering how busy the restaurant was, it made sense. I ordered the Maple Fried Chicken Breakfast Sandwich. It was a decent sandwich. Texture-wise it was nice and crispy, but it lacked flavor. Overall my experience at Shorehouse Kitchen was neither extraordinary nor disappointing. I did not get to try much of the other menu items, so I am open to maybe going back just when they are less busy. read more

Cute and quaint place to catch up with friends or enjoy a brunch. I liked the outdoor patio seating. We went on a cloudy day but it was still nice to sit outside as they had heaters. Coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice were delicious. Service was okay (it was a busy Sunday noon), but we did appreciate the Yelp waiting list so that we could get in line ahead of time. Personally, I probably wouldn't come back solely for the food that I ordered. I got the brioche breakfast sandwich with hash browns and it was quite oily. Food wasn't anything special but maybe I'll come back and try something else. read more

Great location with indoor and outdoor seating. Dan was an excellent waiter who was very attentive and friendly. For my drinks, I enjoyed a dirty chai latte & a lavender honey cortado. My breakfast was the Crispy Parmesan Risotto & Honey cured bacon Benedict. I'm not a fan of poached eggs so they accommodated my request for fried eggs instead. Used to be a solid 5-star brunch spot but quality has been steadily declining. However, the food and atmosphere usually outdoes other brunch options on most days. Street parking is the best option, and expect to park a bit farther down at peak hours. Check in with the host/hostess and you'll get a text when your table is ready. The portions are very large and reasonable for the price. However, a common complaint would be that potatoes aren't the greatest component of any dish we've had. Regardless of the dish, potatoes are consistently reeking of oil and are bland. I'd opt out for the other side if possible. =Classic benedict= Not too heavy and although simple, quality ingredients make this better than average. Likewise with other benedicts, everything tastes light. =Mango pancakes with house-made granola and syrup= Very filling and I would suggest sharing with a person or two. The guava syrup is pleasantly sweet and sour which goes well with the mango and neutral pancake. However, the granola is extremely oily and we have to scrap it off to enjoy the remainder of the pancakes. =Angus short rib and hash brown potato cakes= Our favorite dish if done right. Generous portion of short rib mixed in with creamy eggs--perfect. Potato cakes are crispy and add great texture if they're not oily. =Pork carnitas chilaquiles= Bring on the hot sauce. For individuals who prefer a more sour and soft profile. Tastes great and the pork melts in your mouth. Personal favorite despite the missing crunch. =Caramelized tahitian vanilla bean french toast= A hit or miss. Definitely get the blueberries and cream or grilled pineapple. The french toast would be a bit bland otherwise. Sometimes resembles regular toast than french toast at times. =Tarragon chicken= Huge salad. Great option to share with others if you select savory options. Salad has plenty of sweet components and chicken. Could have included more avocado and pistachio but still an awesome salad. =Fish and chips= Extremely underrated. Fish melts in your mouth and the batter is so light. We wish that the dish included more fish however, as the portion of fries is massive. =Drinks= We've had the strawberry peach smoothie and while it was good, it's not worth the $4.95 price tag. Likewise with the $4.50 superberry kombucha which came in a small can. Nothing extraordinary Service has to be improved. It used to be stellar but we now have to wave down people to get utensils, water and clean plates. We once received dirty plates after waiting for 10 minutes and we had to walk over to the station to get clean ones knowing no one would check up on us for another 10. Also eye-rolling isn't appreciated. While this spot has been good to us, recent experiences have been undermining the previous visits. Great brunch spot but rating may be subject to change. read more
I feel like this place is a bit over hyped. I got the risotto cream cheese cake egg Benedict and it was okay. My boyfriend got the red chilaquiles. The egg Benedict was good but I feel like it lacked flavor. I was hoping that the bernaise sauce would add flavor but it just got lost in the dish and the food was bland. I got a side of hashbrowns and they were OK. The red chilaquiles were good however instead of the traditional red sauce, it was just salsa. The chilaquiles flavor got quite repetitive and it wasn't anything too impressive. If you're in the area you could stop by this place but I don't think it's anything special. I also feel like given the ambiance and food of this place, it is definitely over priced. 3/5 read more

Is there on site Parking?
No. Street parking only, which can be frustrating in the summer. There's a free public parking lot at La Jolla Shores beach that's ~10 minute walk. Also, the #30 MTS bus stops one block from the restaurant. Parking tip: arrive for breakfast…
