Looked for a place with cajun food. Kids had the cajun pasta, one with shrimp and the other with shrimp. I had the seafood basket and my husband had shrimp and catfish. Arrived and only had 2 other customers. (5pm on a sunday) We had a short wait to be seated as there was only like a few people working. We sat by the door but had enough space. Drinks came out quickly. Food was really good. The pasta had the cajun spice on it that my son didn't really enjoy...but I did. Their grilled shrimp was very well seasoned. I love sweet potatoes fries and almost ate everyone's. Meal sizes were big enough for us to take food home. Hostess kept our glasses full and checked on us regularly. Fish in each of the entrees were in broken pieces and the grilled order was too salty to eat. Crab claws were greasy dust. Other locations add shrimp to Coleslaw as an ingredient. We visit Shrimp Basket a few times a year... and we LOVE their fish... it's always crisp & fresh tasting, never greasy or soggy! The tartar sauce is so yummy and always tastes great! The green beans have a great flavor and the corn fritters never disappoint! We noticed that the new menu is missing one of our favorites... the greens! We don't know why they removed them, but we hope they will consider bringing them back... even if it were to be at an up charge! The service is something that has always been consistently great! Today, our server Krista was a rock star... she had a whole station of tables, but you'd never know it with her attention to detail! Additionally, the manager John could be seen covering an entire station on his own, which is impressive! There is nothing worse than a manager who isn't willing to roll up their sleeves and pitch in! Worst experience. Not sure what happened, but we chose to sit outside and received menus and our wait person took our drink order brought us water and never came back. We sat there for about 45 minutes and no one ever came back to take our order or acknowledge us. There were other tables there and one table got up and left because no one ever came back to help them either. We eventually left without being helped. Maybe they had a staffing problem that day or something... Either way I cannot recommend it They do have more than one restaurant and we have been to others and had wonderful experiences but this time was a no go read more

Love the popcorn shrimp and shrimp slaw. Order it all the time. One of my favorite meals.

We went to this location after frequenting a "Shrimp Basket" in Panama City which was a favorite of ours there so we tried this one. It was a Thursday evening around 6 pm. The place was busy but not extremely. We were immediately met by a pleasant young woman who seated us and took our drink order. She quickly returned and took our dinner order. When I asked if the gumbo was a file gumbo she went and asked the chef but they didn't know because the gumbo is not made there fresh. I opted for the fried catfish with French fries, cheese grits, corn fritter, shrimp slaw and hush puppies. The catfish was very overcooked and dry as was the hush puppies. The French fries were the other direction, soft and floppy. My wife had the fried popcorn shrimp and they were cooked properly. The seafood did not seem to be fresh but probably frozen products. We would not return here with all of the other good seafood restaurants in the Pensacola area. The highlight of this visit was our hostess/server. Otherwise only 2 stars. This was a bit of a mixed bag. My crab cakes were very good, so was the cheese grits. The coleslaw had relish in it and was absolutely disgusting. The corn fritter was so tiny that it was a joke and the hush puppies were not what we expected. They had onions in them and were not sweet at all... Wondering if there is a regional difference here. The white fish was good and the fries were decent. The kids liked them! My husband's gumbo was very salty and tasted like it was from the can. I didn't order a cheeseburger so manger says she will take if off my bill?? Well thanks because I didn't order that!! The WORST RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE IVE EVER HAD!! We were they only ones in the restaurant other than the managers family!! Upon leaving I asked if they (the mangers family had enjoyed their dinner?? OUR mistake for having left it at the default of "Let the merchant decide". However, I'm perplexed on how seafood dip is anywhere similar to deep fried cheese curds. I'm also perplexed that the "alternate" just happened to be more expensive. This would all still have been acceptable, but we contacted Doordash in literally less than one minute, and they contacted Shrimp Basket. They were told the now higher price substitute couldn't be removed because they had "already started making it". Come on! Queso seafood dip? Do they expect us to believe they make that in individual portions for each order? Then we got the order. The portions appeared much smaller than what had been served when dining in. I've eaten at a few Shrimp Basket restaurants and it's mainly for convenience since this has become a regional chain, and I try to avoid chains as much as possible. My colleague and I needed a quick lunch and this location was convenient. I had the shrimp tacos and they were ok, but a little better once I added the Shrimp Basket hot sauce which is not overpowering hot but has some taste. I do like their slaw with the mini shrimp and the hush puppies are also good since I like corn mixed into them. My colleague got a grilled combo with catfish and shrimp and he seemed to enjoy it as well. The portions are small for the price in my opinion, but was what I was looking for today. All in all it was not bad, but I know places to get better food for the same price that are not a chain. read more

My husband and I both ordered the Shrimp Baskets, one with cheese grits, one with cheese grits and new potatoes. the cheese grits tasted like cream of wheat cereal with cheese in it, terrible. the shrimpslaw tasted like a sweet relish coleslaw not a coleslaw with baby shrimp in it. Are your cooks following recipes or just cooking. Who ever is the manager of this location really needs to step up and check out what really is going on in his kitchen.
