Bought 3d plan and paid extra with all these additions and almost half of the services I paid for are now "not include." I literally paid extra to have the bells and whistles as it was stated in an email only for them to want me to whistle on my own. Legit scam. If you know what's good for you. Run the opposite way. They won't publicize my sincere review on their website so they moderate their website with deceitful intention to mislead public all customers they had never rated them 1 star.If they do that they probably limit 2-3 star reviews to their liking. We requested a refund for the following reasons: * 2 of 3 calls scheduled, the designer just never called. We planned our work days around the calls. * We've now been waiting over three weeks for the next iteration of our design when we were told 7 days. * In combination with the fact that we've provided extremely detailed information about our space and what we're looking for, and it seems as if the designer didn't use any of the information (recommending plants that require full sun in areas we specifically noted were shaded; recommending trees in spaces we specifically noted no trees) I get this is supposed to save me money vs. a local designer coming to our home, but so far it's so off the mark we can't use anything. And we wanted to start planting soon, so we've been spending countless hours researching and speaking with nursery's on our own (what we were trying to avoid by using ShrubHub). read more

Most of Shrubhub's clients seem to be located in California, where the planting and growing season is long. I live in New England-- we get one to two months' window to plant before summer hits and plants need to have already established their roots. This means that a landscaper generally surveys, designs, and moves the process along in about 2 weeks' time if you hire them in person. So, if you are intending to use Shrubhub, do point out your planting zone to the service rep. My experience with this company is that they do always follow through on the turnaround time they promise, and you might not be able to plan accordingly. Give them at least a month or two. You shouldn't expect results in the matter of days or one week as advertised. Also, make sure you understand that "unlimited" is restricted to a 30-day time frame. Past that, your "unlimited" is no longer valid. Remember that you're saving a little money, NOT time. And even then, you're not saving as much as you think. You are doing quite a bit of the work: uploading accurate photos from multiple angles, making a sketch-- --you are gonna face some kinks if you're not good at drawing, making sure that every window, fan, or outside fixture is photographed and accurately placed for them to design around. A personally hired private landscaper will design and do the planting for you. That cost is in the thousands of dollars but working with Shrubhub cost me about the same, as you are responsible for buying all plants and doing the actual planting yourself or hiring out the planting, which means you're still spending the same thousands of dollars. After all of this, is the service worth it? If you are not willing to spend hours making sure they understand exactly what you want, and then if you're not willing to hire a separate service for the actual planting, then the short answer is, no. If you're ok to communicate every single detail, spend hours thinking about what you're imagining, and just want some ideas, then, yes. To be honest, I spent more time hounding them then getting results within the promised time frame. That said, their consultants are qualified; their designs are fine. Their customer service reps are very nice, eager to please, and willing to do their part. They are good about getting in touch with you, but you have to make clear the issues you're facing by contacting their customer service. Just know that you are using a remote service, you're not receiving the personalized customer care you'd get from a private landscaper and designer. Their website has a lot to answer for. The tiny drawing in pdf and the minuscule 2 dimensional plan is hard to read without a frontal imaging, which they could do with photoshop. No such image is provided. Finding the customer login on their page is not the most obvious either. You have to scroll down to the very bottom to find the tiny link. Read the fine print. You're paying up front. What results you get is really then up to how well YOU execute the design. Here, you are doing the work. As long as you understand the terms of what's involved, I think it's a decent service. read more

After a short conversation (mostly upselling) with the project manager I was assured I would receive plans within the next week. Five weeks went by. I asked for a refund. NO word. I asked for an update on the project. They reassured me it would be delivered. I waited another two weeks. I emailed both the project manager and the design department. No word. I still have not received any product nor a refund. I contacted by bank to report and get my money back. This was a terrible experience and I do not recommend anyone waste their time or money. I upgraded to unlimited consult as well. I live in Naples, FL and wanted to re-do my front side and back yard. The first designs took 21 days and once received, I met with Nina to go over them. There were 3 "christmas" trees in the design and a mini pond. I explained that we don't have christmas trees here and it doesn't rain 1/2 the year so a mini pond (which I never asked for) didn't make sense. I had uploaded over 20 pictures of plants I like that work in this weather and not one of them was in the initial design. When I asked her to walk me through which on the plant list coincided with the cartoon like bushes on the designs, she couldn't tell me. It was very clear she was not part of the team that designed it. She agreed that it was very hard to tell what plants were where and ensured that the next round would include numbers or some guide. Fast forward - it took another 2 weeks for a new design and the plant list doesn't include all of the plants in the design and nothing was included to help me figure out which were which. I reached out to Nina and said I wanted to speak to a manager, sat on the phone for 20 minutes on hold and was disconnected. It's been a week and I still haven't had any outreach from a manager and Nina is "out of town." Steer clear. Your money is better spent working with your local nursery. read more

He developed a design with features that make it special that I would never have thought of on my own (landscape rocks, pebbles, perfect groupings of plants). Shrubhub was a great experience. We measured our yard area, uploaded some pictures of the current look and a few pictures of what we envisioned. Then typed up a quick description of what we were looking for. We decided to go with a tropical look, a palapa, waterfall in the pool, some garden boxes, and the possibility of a hot tub. Our designer Maryam did an amazing job taking what we had in our minds and making it a reality. The initial design came out perfect so we didnt need any revisions. She was even able to place a hot tub in a creative spot that is going to be amazing and also add a ton of value to the home when we decide to sell. We had our plant consultation yesterday and it looks like they also put together the right mix of tropicals and subtropicals that is really going to make our home stand out! I first learned of shrub hub as a Facebook advertisement. I clicked the link and added all of the things that I wanted in my front and backyard for 70% off. I wasn't worried because there was a 30 day moneyback guarantee I submitted my request and was charged $300 Immediately I was up charged $85 for my yard size which was small. The next up charge was $80 so that I could review for 30 days any designs they created the 30 days starts when you make your order not when you see the designs, it took over two weeks to get scheduled for a consultation. On the day of my consultation, my project manager advised me she had a family crisis and had to reschedule my consult. Before my consultation could be rescheduled I requested a refund. This business is all online and I was told through email that the managers would contact me within 48 hours. This never happened. I never received a Design Shrubhub simply stop responding to my emails. Appropriate amount of time. I contacted my credit card company. Two days later shrub have contacted me to say they had approved my refund days earlier but hadn't been able to get back to me. This was their first response they said because I contacted my credit card company their policy was they could do nothing to give me a refund. The only way I will get a refund is through my credit card company clawing back the $485. They advertised a 70% reduction in design costs and a 30 day back guarantee both of these were false advertisements. The entire experience was great. From the ad on social media to getting the initial plan and follow-up, I highly recommend this service. Chris Collins was a fantastic project manager- the initial consult was very helpful, the initial plan was great too- was pretty spot on except for a few minor items (which would come out with any plan so no issue here). I read some complaints and frankly, I don't see they are warranted. Shrub hub does start the cost at fairly nominal free- $270 ish and they do offer upgrade packages. I decided for 30 days of revisions given my plan would evolve some. Also, I did ask Chris to expedite my plan given a time constraint and it was accommodated. If I had gone to a typical landscape design firm, I would have easily spent over 1k. I certainly will use them for future projects. I'd recommend Shrub Hub without hesitation. read more

I agree with other reviews- don't waste your time and money. The design was totally off in proportion to the size of my small backyard in a condo complex. Choice of plants was just awkward, where I requested something that would give me a little privacy- they wanted me to add a King palm. Then there was mix of plants that require indirect light and others direct light. If you make an unfavorable comment on their Facebook page, you are banned for making comments and they do not let you see the angry faces either- very sketchy! I was expecting a perfection for the price, but their practices speak on their own. Glad I did not pay for any upgrades. read more

Trash company. I had a consult in early May, told them the aesthetic I was going for and exactly what I didn't want, they confirmed the details with me. A month later, I get the design which is totally the opposite of what I wanted and included almost all of the stuff I didn't want. The design was useless and not realistic. I asked them to correct it, I re-explained what i wanted and they said I would have an updated design by the end of the week. Two weeks later, I still had nothing. I told the account manager that I wanted a refund since I'm not confident they will deliver based on what happened previously and all the delays. Celeste, the manager, contacted me today and said I couldn't get a refund because 30 days have passed... I got my design on day 30 and told them promptly that it was all wrong. Waiting to see what happens, but I have low hope. I'll probably have to dispute the charges and file complaints with the BBB and AG. I do not like speaking negatively about anyone b/c it just isn't what our world needs right now so I will try to share truth without the emotions. Our experience with Shrub Hub was pretty disappointing overall. I actually took the time to read lots of reviews before hand which were quite positive and I can not for the life of me figure out why our experience was so different, until I eventually found some similar experiences expressing displeasure with Shrub Hub on the Better Business Bureau's site. I was unable to post an honest review on the actual Shrub Hub website ... so I guess that is why others went to the BBB site. And why I am attempting to post an honest review here. We paid the $150 to get a basic 2-D design with "Unlimited Revisions" and did all the work they asked us to do. They have a pretty thorough questionnaire to complete to help dentify a design "theme" and then they also ask the client to upload pictures of what they like. We uploaded tons of pictures of what we liked in terms of plant selection, and hardscape materials and provided a very detailed explanation of what our hopes were. We made our appointment with a designer who seemed to understand what we were looking for. Because we only paid the $150 all communication after the initial interview with the designer is handled through email or your portal. We were fine with this. We live in Central FL and our theme was more tropical based as we selected plants that would be tropical looking but then also do well in our climate zone. It took several weeks to get the first design iteration back, which was a confusing design and not really reflective of what we had requested. In fact I almost wondered if they mixed our project up with someone else's wish list because many of the plants were from a more Northern climate but nope, the backyard was definitely ours. We have a very long and narrow backyard. As an example ShrubHub pulled all the foliage up to the edge of the pool. This might normally be very pretty if it was what we had requested but in so doing they cut off the rest of the yard that is real grass without the ability to get a lawnmover around the landscape / hardscape design that they were suggesting. So not practical to say the least. I asked how to make revisions ... because it is not automatically part of your personal portal for some reason. We again provided very specific details for the revision including which plants to remove and which to keep. Second iteration, I basically told them how we would prefer the layout of the yard and various features to be. Typically you receive an email when your project is ready for review. It had been a couple of weeks since I submitted the revision request so I clicked on my portal to see if the design had been updated. Nope, the design was still the same but ironically after I clicked in to my portal the next day I was notified that my new design was ready. However, the second design iteration was not ready ... it removed parts of the pool deck that are not going anywhere, pulled all the plants back to the fence so a lawnmower could get through (helpful) but unfortunately still had all the same plants in the design that we had asked to remove, as well as some other things that had not been acknowledged or addressed in the requested revision. This was disappointing to say the least. I am thinking that possibly their team is overworked or they really are only working on the designs that have upgraded to the next level. I responded back after the second iteration that the design was still not reflective of all the changes I had requested but their reply to me was that my unlimited revisions had run out as they were only good for 30 days so if I wanted to make additional changes I would need to upgrade to another package. This is a promising concept and one I am sure those paying for more expensive packages get better results from. But one thing that was consistent is that they were always trying to upsell to the next level. Perhaps we caught them at a time when they were swamped and their customer service was not on point but my gut instinct tells me this is not the case. So again cool concept but for us it was a waste of $150. read more

I was very impressed with my consultant Helen. The 2D and the video of our landscape project will save us time, money and frustration. And we have a plan to submit to our HOA. Their design was thoughtful and offered several options I would never have thought about. I'm working on some final tweaks and look forward to a final plan to make our new backyard an oasis. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars is I wish there was more verbal collaboration. Calls seem a bit rushed and you're left to submit through the portal. read more

Frankly, I gave up on them after the 2nd design, but still gave them a third try to be fair, and sent them the image design with all my notes and even after saying that they would take it into account they didn't. What a total waste of money. I provided photographs and videos of my property plus very specific instructions and ideas of what we were looking for out of this service. In one instance I've given the same instruction 3 times and they have still not incorporated it into the design, we're at Rev 4. At this stage they acknowledge that I'm very unhappy so in a final, "I'm done" message I resent them all of the revisions I had requested, they changed 2 things and completely left out one thing I was particularly disappointed with and had highlighted. You'll do better getting by looking at Pinterest and Houzz and getting together with a local gardener, perhaps even ask your local garden club for help, it certainly won't be any worse than my experience with "shrubhub". read more

This company is a complete scam. We signed up for a landscape design with shrub hub with excitement and high hopes of finally getting our landscaping in order. My wife took a great amount of time to detail in writing exactly what we were looking for in our plan and sent that to our designer. She also laid everything out for our designer on our initial consultation call. Then the initial draft of the design came. First, it took nearly a month to get the initial design, More importantly, the design completely ignored everything we had told our designer. He removed plants/trees that we specifically told him we wanted to keep. He included a large number of plants that won't even grow in our region. His design for our front yard basically proposed things that would have spilled onto our neighbors yards. And most frustratingly, he provided no landscaping for the east and west sides of our home, which were two of the areas we expressly told him we needed the most help with. Just before we received the plan we expressed concern to our designer about the amount of time it was taking to get the plan (since the money back period was only 30 days long). He emailed us an apology for taking so long and said Shrub Hub would waive the 30 days. Despite being completely dissatisfied with the initial plan, because the designer had told us Shrub Hub was waiving the 30 days we decided not to cancel and instead to give him another chance. After giving him detailed feedback on all the issues with the initial design we were hopeful things would finally get through. After a few more weeks of waiting the revised plan arrived and it was only marginally better than the first plan. It was quite evident at that point that our designer was not listening to anything we were telling him and had no interest in addressing any of our requests. At this point we had zero confidence that Shrub Hub was going to deliver a landscaping plan that we could use, so we asked for a refund. The issue was escalated to the person who claimed to be in charge of their customer service (Celeste) and she insisted it was too late for a refund because we were outside of the 30 day guarantee. We pointed out that our designer had specifically waived the 30 days in writing. We also pointed out that, even if he hadn't waived the 30 days, it took so long to get the initial plan that we had no reasonable opportunity to fully review the plan and still cancel in 30 days. We also pointed out that we had relied on the designer's waiver in giving him more time to correct the issues and were trying to show some good will on our part in giving him another chance. Celeste tried to ignore these facts and just continued to point to the 30 days. We told Celeste that Shrub Hub had a legal obligation to honor the waiver their designer had provided. She continued to deflect and ignore these realities but after a lot of back and forth she pretended to be doing us a huge favor by ultimately offering a 50% refund. We felt this was incredibly disingenuous given everything that had happened but Celeste pointed to the fine print that said Shrub Hub's money back guarantee wasn't a full refund but a refund of what we had paid less the amount of time they had spent on our plan. That is when we realized just how big of a same this is. Shrub Hub essentially burns as much time as possible putting together the design with no regard for whether it fits anything you've asked for. They dupe you into buying the 30 days of unlimited revisions so that you can feel good that you'll be able to really get the design perfected. But in reality it just gives them the opportunity to burn more time ignoring you. Then if/when you ask for a refund, they can point to the fine print and refund pennies on the dollar. I would never in a million years recommend this company to anyone and will continue spreading the word to anyone and everyone that I can that Shrub Hub will scam you and take your money and leave you with nothing to show for it. This company is a joke and all they really want to do is upsell on a 3D plan for like $1000.00 and sell you their crummy plants. Then I got an email as supposed, saying I was going to receive my project within the next couple of days. More than a week passed and nothing, so I contacted them through their website. They said they were sorry and would be delivering in the next 24-48 H, but that time has also passed and I still haven't received anything and no contact has been made. What a terrible experience! I never had the same designer twice, so I had to explain the previous changes every time I talked to the new designer (which was often because they didn't listen to what I told them I wanted). Imagine the crappy stuff you buy from China which always falls apart ... same thing except you get a crappy drawing. Only the view from overhead is included, otherwise it's an extra $900 for 3D rendering. Not even 2D horizontal views. They just threw the design together and then kept trying to upsell for things like schematics, sprinkler zone/line designs, overhead and/or garden lights, etc. In the end, it was a complete waste of money and time! Namely, they didn't ask how big my property was, I could have easily told them my square footage. It was a paint-by-numbers repeating border of the same 8 or so plants all around the property. Also disregarded my desire for natives and several other parameters. After my consult, I got an email in one business day that the design was done. But I did not get the design in my profile until I contacted them a few weeks later. No explanation. But the optics are bad-feel like someone slapped it together and then forgot about it. At least it was cheap. But you get what you pay for. read more

Overall a good landscape design for the price. I was looking for a second opinion for the plant selection in the landscape design that I already had drawn up. I spent 4 k for the entire design for our property but just wanted a second opinion by Shrubhub for the plant selection in the front yard. After sending the original design by my landscape architect and specifying what I wanted, I received an entirely different landscape design from Shrubhub. It was nice, but I really just wanted to keep the original design. After two revisions I finally got it thru what I was looking for, which was a different plant selection for the original design that I sent them. The final design came in just under the wire and is very nice. Communication is slow, so you really only get three shots at getting it done if you sign up for "unlimited consultation". read more

My experience was not good. Who ever did my first design was totally incompetent. I got a great 3d computer mock up of my yard as a finished product. But as I examined it the guy clearly had no training in horticulture. He/or she put sun loving plants under my huge douglas Fir trees. He put shade loving plants like Hostas on the south side of the house in full son. Even today I find a Juniper that wont even grow in my hardiness zone! No wonder my local nursery did not carry it. I also noticed that on my plan they'd made a technical error. Two different plants were assigned the same icon. Now I cant tell which plant goes where. When I brought this to their attention, the want $250 to correct the mistake. They said my subscription had expired even though i paid for the "unlimited revisions" plan. No expiration date was ever discussed with me when i signed up. I was told the guy that did my design had been fired but the replacement turns out is not any better. If not for the pretty pictures of my house and yard, I'd have given them 1 star. read more
