We ate at Si Las Thai restaurant on Robertson last night. It was my first time eating there. I must have driven past it many times, but never noticed it before. This was the best Thai food I have ever had! I used to love Tommy Tang on Melrose and Chan Dara on Larchmont. Sadly both of these restaurants are gone now and most Thai restaurants I've been to leave me disappointed. But not Si Laa. We had 4 dishes for the 3 of us. The dishes we ate included the Hidden Treasures, Crispy Duck, Prime Filet Mignon and Pad Thai Shrimp. All these dishes were perfectly prepared and so tasty! One of the most memorable meals I've had in recent memory. Very pricey, but for a special occasion Si Laa is it. The Hidden Treasures are absolutely stunning. The perfect bite of succulent seafood bursting with Thai-inspired flavors. After that as an appetizer, it can't get much better right? But then I tried the green short rib curry. The umami and rich spices were unlike any other curry I've tried. The short rib pieces were plentiful, tender, and juicy. I'm going to have a hard time trying anything else on the menu after this. You probably couldn't anticipate the sheer wonders that emerge from the kitchen just by stepping inside. It's a no-frills establishment aesthetically and service-wise. What is going on with restaurants having so much entitlement? Times are hard and rent is expensive so I'd be nicer and more receptive to your LOCAL clientele. Why would you demean someone and have so much pride to think your food is perfect? Supposedly this venue doesn't get any complaints (manager said on the phone that they've never once had a complaint about their food being bland lol total lies as even Michelin rated restaurants get complaints) - their last 1 star review is from years ago, so I am convinced they get those honest reviews taken down. I thought about asking for a credit but I didn't like a single thing I got so I don't see myself coming back. I ordered to go: papaya salad - ZERO flavor and ZERO heat. Little Treasures - it's just damn shrimp with crab meat on top, but they make it sound like some mind blowing appetizer. Pad See Ew - even with the sweet and sour sauce I ordered on the side (had to ask for it when picking up and waited forever for it) it was so weird tasting! It had CINNAMON type of flavor to it which is NOT meant for it!! It's just supposed to basically be like a thicker sweet soy..and the spare rib meat was so dry. $77 is so damn expensive for EXTREMELY SUB PAR FOOD that come in TINY sizes, and to get talked down to and talked over on the phone. Absolutely ridiculous excuse of an establishment. You're unprofessional, rude, prideful and really need to get help from some other Thai restaurants because your food does NOT hit. I had no idea that this was a hidden gem that was in the neighborhood. We tried the "Hidden treasures" that came in a unique plate that had 7 individual circles. In each one was shrimp and blue crab with Thai basil, Keffir lime in a chili coconut sauce. That was $25 for the appetizer. For our main course we chose the Branzino, which was $41. That is definitely in my top three. I absolutely love Branzino. It was crispy and flavorful. Next we ate the Pad See You. These wide noodles are delicious with the short rib and cost $23. Showed up for my Valentines and the service was remarkable. The Crispy roasted duck was by far our favorite dish. It is twice roasted for extra crispiness. We ordered the Spicy Crab noodles, wontons for starter, and Crispy Roasted Duck. We ate the food family style and i would recommend doing the same. we think the noodle paired well with the duck because we were able to get full. I ordered mild for noodles, but I wish I got medium spice. I think the place is very romantic and cozy. it had a nice casual romantic evening type of vibe. My friend and I had dinner here tonight (May 31, 2024) I am very taken a back by this restaurant. We had just received our bill and paid, and shortly thereafter we were asked to leave. The waiter said he needed the table. Of note, there was another table open per observation. I have never been asked to leave so quickly after paying, or for that matter ever been asked to leave. On another note the food was only mediocre and the portions are very small. The prices are high for the quantity of food served. Si Laa is the golden standard of authentic Thai cuisine, and I am giving my highest recommendation possible! The menu covers an amazing amount of territory, and everything I've tried has been ungodly delicious. From the Hidden Treasures appetizer (prawns/shrimp, blue crab meat, coconut curry) to something as simple as the Garlic and Ginger fried rice (convinced this could be the answer to World Peace), one can appreciate that every dish was undoubtedly prepared with care and attention. At the end of the meal, we were greeted by the executive chef, and I must say, she is the epitome of the American dream. Legend has it that Leonardo DiCapario and Keanu Reeves are regulars here - if it's good enough for these guys, it's good enough for me! Came here to celebrate a birthday and heard about this place. It's small but very simple and neat. We tried several entrees: Hand pleated potstickers- A little spicy with a faint sweetness and the ginger soy sauce is a nice touch. The wrapper is soft yet holds everything together. Whole Branzino- The fish was tender and tasty, very little bones and the skin so crispy. Very subtle sweetness and spice. Crispy Duck- By far my favorite. Indeed crispy and tender, so flavorful with the sauce. The Chinese broccoli and pancake is a nice touch. Baby Bok Choy- The sauce is very subtle but has a nice flavor. The bok choy is tender with a little crunch and the mushrooms had a very mild flavor. Pad Thai- It has a slight sweetness to it, the noodles are tender with a good consistency. The vegetables are crispy and crunchy. Thai Curry- Slightly spicy, the chicken is tender and the vegetables slightly crisp. Delicious over the Garlic and Ginger Rice Dessert Coconut ice cream with sticky rice and rice crispies on top. The ice cream has a slight flavor, the sticky rice adds a touch of saltiness and texture to the experience. Chocolate cake with a hint of flavor, so moist and rich. Quaint Simple Bistro style Thai restaurant. Food was good. No particular dish that stood out for me. Enjoyed the hidden treasures and the creamy flavourful sauce it was sitting in. Chicken larb with lettuce wrap was vibrant, refreshing, and well balanced - enjoyed the different textures. Duck was tasty - roti is a fantastic accompaniment . Menu reads duck is "twice cooked" I'm assuming it was previously cooked and then re-cooked for serving. Honestly, good service, balanced flavours, just over priced for small "shareable" dishes (LA is just expensive in general). I would frequent this place if prices were more reasonable. Romantic cute little Thai restaurant in Beverly Hills, beautiful place with comfy intimate seatings. Our corner booth was perfect for a casual dinner date after a bit shopping at Beverly center. Menu was simple and neat, not as big as usual Thai restaurants, but the choices were good. Started with bottle of British sparkling water and bottle of chardonnay, they only serve beer and wine. Starter: Chicken mushroom soup with coconut milk: the broth was amazing, rich and spicy but not salty at all, so good! Entrees: Spicy crab noodles: tender crab meat, the rice noodles were so good, flavors were light. Filet with green beans: filet was a little overcooked for hubby, but still flavorful and delicious. Whole Branzino: they cut it for us after showing us the whole fish. Deep fried Branzino, the skin and bones were so crispy and crunchy, but the fish meat was still so soft. The sauce was bomb too, I love Branzino, this Thai style was absolutely yummy! Dessert was sorbets in 3 fruity flavors: very refreshing and yummy. Food was light, portions were on the smaller side, but the flavors were so nice. Hubby and I enjoyed the food and good service. It was a relaxing and lovely dinner date. I wished for duck curry and they do not have curries. The " hidden Treasures" was superb, the shrimp and the veggie noodles very good. The atmosphere is quiet and cozy. The Crispy Duck was fair to good with one piece overcooked and inedible. I cannot recommend it. We joked about carrying some bread in our purse next time so we could capture the excellent sauce on the hidden treasures. read more

Warning!!! Entree prices shown on Yelp will differ s-i-g-n-i-f-i-c-a-n-t-l-y from actual prices. I reviewed the menu, called in order & showed up to pickup my takeout order (never being told the final order price) to discover that my 2 entree & 1 side dish would be $100. When I looked at the price breakdown, the 2 entrees, which were each listed on their menu at $24, on the actual bill were $38 a piece. I questioned the prices with the hostess / waitress to be told that "the restaurant has no control over the pricing shown in Yelp. " After spending precious time w/a good friend to determine where to eat, what we wanted and then having to wait 35-45 min for our order to be prepared only to discover the prices were off by over 50%, I told them they could keep their order. I was FURIOUS. As I left the restaurant at 6:30 pm on a Thurs night, I noted that there was not one customer seated in this restaurant. Now, I fully understand why. read more

This restaurant is really nice. White clothed tables, candle and rose on each table, dimmed lighting. Really pretty. Super romantic. I came here in search of wonton soup to heal my soul. Which lead me to here. On a Monday 7:30pm, it was not crowded at all. A couple tables there. But as the night went on people came in. A small wonton soup was $6. Kind of pricey but it was delicious. Didn't taste typical from a Chinese restaurant. Super flavorful and depth in flavor. No MSG. So that wonton soup was small. And I inhaled it. So I opted for another soup. I ordered the Tom khar chicken soup ($6), a coconut based lemongrass chicken and mushroom soup. Not as thick in consistency as I thought. But flavorful nonetheless. Alright, after two soups I was still hungry. I got the Tom yum soup (not pictured). By this time, I burned all my tastes buds from the previous two hot soups. The Tom yum was spicy and pretty salty. Last night was my first time there. We went with some friends who frequently go. It was a birthday dinner. The food was terrific however the service was abysmal. We ordered for dinners and one meal never came. The young waitstaff never came back to check and see if everything was OK. When I had to go to the kitchen to tell them that one of us was missing the dinner the response I got was "I didn't bring the food out so I didn't notice". No one ever came back and by the time my friend got his birthday dinner we were all finished. Not only were we treated poorly but there was absolutely no attempt at compensation not even a free dessert. I will never go back. Obviously the owner doesn't care. read more
