I love this restaurant! It's a very authentic and a pretty clean restaurant. I've been craving for Chinese food for the longest time ever, so I decided to make a visit here today. And this place did not disappoint me at all. First off, they offer exceptional service. Staffs are super friendly and go beyond than what they're supposed to do. The waitress was especially nice and welcoming! So sad that she will be going back to Houston soon. I had some leftovers so I asked for a to-go box. The waitress instead took my leftovers and nicely put it in the box with EXTRA rice. As for the food, I ordered a kung pao chicken, and my boyfriend ordered a hot garlic sichuan chicken. I should have read the reviews. I ordered the spicy crispy shrimp with fried rice delivered through DoorDash. I didn't expect it to get here crispy however the batter on the shrimp is really thick. The shrimp had a good flavor, it tasted similar to a Buffalo sauce. The worst part was the hard fried rice, which had no flavor. I wouldn't order from here again. read more

This place was quite interesting and honestly I don't know how I should rate a place like this. A group of my friends and I went here to celebrate a friend's birthday. We searched this place out and took a small caravan to this place. The place looks pretty small from the outside, but had lots of tables inside. We were seated and the first thing our waitress asks is if anyone at our table was Chinese. Ummm. Sorry? I didn't know we needed a Chinese-speaking friend to eat here. We in fact did have several friends that spoke a bit of mandarin and canto, but did not wish to speak it. This was apparently a big deal to them because our waitress kinda looked down on my friends for not wanting to speak Chinese. We ordered a wide array of dishes and ate them quite happily. My friend pointed out one of the fish dishes was quite fishy. Pun intended! He suspected it wasn't fresh, but rather frozen fish. When paying, we wanted to make things easier so one friend took the bill and we paid him back. Around this time I was looking around and comparing other people's service. No lie, the group of white people got better service and fortune cookies. We didn't get fortune cookies and felt entitled to them. So a whole bunch of my guys asked for fortune cookies. We sat for a few minutes waiting for our cookies to not receive any! Not to fuss over fortune cookies, but this is something like the opposite of southern hospitality. First, don't treat people differently based on the color of their skin. Second, be courteous. At no point were we ever uncourteous. Food: 4-stars [especially for the low cost] Service: 1-star This would be about 2.5 stars because of the food, but good service and southern hospitality are important here in Texas. read more

I am not really impressed with the food in this place. There are others that are so much better. My family and I did not really have much time to research a good place in Austin. He did a quick search online and since this was the closest, we went in and tried it. The West Lake Soup was not half as good as what we are used to. Neither was the House Pan Fried Noodles which had large fillets of fish instead the shrimp, crab meat, squid, and shitake mushrooms that is served in other restaurants. The other dishes that we ordered--shrimp with snow peas, water spinach and spicy chicken--fell way below our expectations. One consoling factor was that the servings were quite large but that's about it. I will search more for other places to eat next time I am in the area. read more

This is by far my favorite restaurant in the Austin area. Sichuan Garden lives up to its name because it is the only place I'm aware of that serves authentic sichuan cuisine in the area. I've been to the place on Spicewood Springs and 183 as well - the one in the grocery store, but that place seemed to have more of a taiwanese bent - I could be wrong. Anyway, if you love spicy chinese food, this is the place to go. The dishes I recommend are: crispy pork intestines w/ hot peppers (it's REALLY good despite what it is), house special crispy chicken (the lamb is also good), vegetarian pork kidney (it's better tasting than the actual pork kidney version which they serve), and any of the fish dishes. But you can't go wrong with any of the stuff they offer. It's all real tasty. I used to go twice a week, but unfortunately I've had to stop going recently because of reoccuring gastrointestinal problems that make it hell to eat spicy food and live to tell the tale. My favorite Chinese Restaurant. One of the best things about this place is consistency. Every single time I've come here my food was exactly what I've expected. I come here at least once or twice a month. Even my family, which don't eat out much b/c my parents are culinary vets, choose this place to dine out when they do. My review is partial to the fact that I usually order Sichuan dishes when I'm here. It's one of the few places that does Sichuan style cooking right. Of course, if you're not a fan of the spice, peppercorn, and oil (lots and lots of oil), then Sichuan style and half the menu may not be for you. The staff is very friendly but things do get lost in translation. The waitress we usually get is very attentive and visits our table very often, but is very awkward. I believe it's due to her shyness. The place is BYOB, so if you have a big party or celebration, you can totally bring your own beer and wine. (We haven't taken advantage of this yet). read more

My friend told me that there's a very authentic Sichuan restaurant in RR. I couldn't wait to give it a try. I went there twice in two weeks with different people. The flavor was good but the texture of the meat was very disappointing. I had the stir-fried Lamb with Hot Cumin, I couldn't even taste what kind of meat it was. I figured that they must add lots of tenderizer into the meat or soak the meat in water for a long time. The meat tasted TOO TENDER in a very unnatural way. The flavor was really good but the texture weird. The same situation was true with other dishes like Sliced Beef & Mow with Szechuan Style and Boiled Beef with Spicy Sauce. This is my go to Chinese place in Round Rock if not the Austin area. They offer delivery, are seldom very busy (no wait at least) and have a very large extensive menu which gives you great portion sizes for a great cost. My family of five can eat here for less than $35. We always get the Veg Lo Mien...Although you may of had this dish many over places and written it off, try it here. It comes with lots of veggies and the noodles are cooked perfectly. We love it. The house special crispy spicy chicken is amazing. The title says it all. Although the bell peppers are a little much, I just want more chicken. Other than those two dishes, the rest of the chinese fare is great as well. I must admit that I have never had the hot pot here, but my buddy swears by it and his wife just got here from mainland China a couple of years ago. Speaking of China, I've always said the mark of a good ethnic restaurant is to see the natives eat there. Lots of Chinese here eating Chinese food. Nice!!!! We have been eating here for about 5 years now and the food and services has been consistently great. As I stated in my previous review, this restaurant specializes in traditional Sichuan chinese and not the "American chinese" dishes (orange chicken, sesame chicken, general tso chicken). That's not to say that they don't do a good job with these dishes, but every time we have ordered something from the more traditional side of the menu it has very much exceeded our expectations. I encourage everyone to try the Dumplings in Sichuan Sauce and the Double-Sauteed Pork. One of my other favorites is Boiled Fish in Spicy Sauce. Try something new/different and you will likely be glad that you did. I don't know if the ownership/management has changed, but the front-of-the-house staff has changed for the better, in my opinion. The older woman and the man (Will, I believe) have been replaced by a younger staff who are much better at taking orders over the phone and processing carry-out and delivery orders. This isn't your foodie snob spot, but here is a few reasons why it's one of my faves. It's close to Georgetown where I live, it's reasonably priced, has an extensive menu, and is the Chinese throw-down meal you need when you're craving take-out. The shrimp with special salt is basically salt and pepper shrimp and I also get the fish soup in chili oil sauce (it has the number 13 on it). It is slightly spicy and flavorful. Love it. read more

Very addicting food. Fish filet in spicy hot oil is my favorite. Staff is great - always remember us and treat us like family. Though they do offer some of the well known common US-Chinese dishes, they mostly have very delicious and original food from the Szechuan province - including some exotic stuff. The place is small and it can get busy - especially during dinner on weekends. Carry-out seems to be a big thing, I saw many packed dinners went out while we ate - though I have never tried the take-out. I could make better Chinese food!!! This place was horrible!!!! It was expensive as hell too!!!!! The Lo Mein was mushy and had no flavor & the fried rice was nothing like fried rice I have ever seen... not a single veggie in it... and again, zero flavor!!! The only flavor in our meal was in the sesame chicken, but it was fried so hard that it was hard to eat! They have a sign hanging in there that looks like it is probably 15 years old or more, but it says "Too 100 Chinese Restaurants". I would love to know by who's standards!!!! read more
