The mapo tofu here is seriously top tier and my fave! It's rich, flavorful, and perfectly numbing with that signature Sichuan spice especially with a bowl of rice! We also loved the Impressive Cold Noodles which were really addicting. We ordered the mild version and it was the perfect balance to complement the stronger, numbing flavors from the other dishes. It still had plenty of flavor without being overwhelming. One dish that kinda threw me off was the Couple's Sliced Beef. Since it's served cold, the texture of the beef felt a bit firmer and hard, and less tender than I personally prefer or expected. Overall, this is a place I can see myself coming back to multiple times a year. The flavors are bold and numbing (how it should be), the portions are generous for the price, and the whole meal just feels warm, satisfying, and comforting! This spot does get busy so make sure to check in on the waitlist ahead of time!
Came in a weekday evening for dinner - there was a good amount of customers but no wait. Ordering is easy and through an app, food comes quickly. Our favorite dish was the cold chicken with chili sauce - it was so flavorful and not as spicy as it looks! Chicken was so moist as well. Also really enjoyed the fish in chili sauce - the fish was so tender and melt in your mouth. Spicy wontons were yummy too. Overall ambiance is casual and parking is very easy.
This place is so good! This was my second visit, and it definitely didn't disappoint. We came for dinner on a Saturday, put our names on the waitlist, and ended up waiting about 20 minutes. We ordered the mapo tofu (my personal favorite), fish fillet with pickled vegetable soup, stir-fried chili chicken, and dry-fried string beans. We went with a mild spice level, which was perfect for us, but if you're more sensitive to spice I'd recommend going one level lower. Overall, it's a solid spot for Sichuan food, and I would definitely come back.
After late-night swim practice, the kids specifically asked for Jincheng, so we headed straight to the Tustin location. Turns out they're running a promotion right now -- talk about perfect timing They're offering a 5 full-size signature dish combo for just $78, plus three add-on dishes you can choose from. Promotion runs from 1/23-2/6 (only 15 days -- miss it and you'll have to wait another half year!) Their Sichuan food is very authentic -- no surprise since they've been Michelin-recommended for seven consecutive years. That said, it's not just spicy food here. They also have plenty of non-spicy, kid-friendly options, which makes it great for families. If you're planning a meal with family or friends, now's the time -- grab a table while the deal lasts! Don't wait until it's over and regret it later. Bonus: you can also get a free taro & sweet potato ball dessert
In a nutshell.. we went here looking for peppercorns and medicinal spice.. did we get it? No.. sadly everything was not as spicy and sichuan as we hoped it to be. The service was your typical Asian restaurant where they don't really look at you I. The eye and you can self order.. we did ask for a bowl of rice with a human waiter and they brought it immediately. This restaurant was in a plaza and we were able to get a bottle of water in the bodega within the same plaza. I give this place a 3.5 stars.
Solid Sichuan cuisine with some of the best numbing peppercorn dishes around--it keeps me coming back again and again! Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. My personal favorites are the cauliflower stir-fry, mapo tofu, and kung pao chicken. I'm not from Sichuan, but I've visited a couple of times, and let's just say when I taste authentic food, I know it.
Oooooo I love this place! Sechuan Impression is delicious packing with great flavor and quality. I ordered 5 dishes, that being the Cucumber, cold noodle, stir-fried chicken, fish soup, and the taro rice dessert. The dishes are so flavorful and are definitely made to be shared family style. With these dishes, we even had leftovers to take home! The cold cucumber appetizer is a lightly pickled and salted cucumber that blends well if you wanted a pallet cleanser or just a refreshing bite. It has a slight bit of heat from the chili peppers which is also a great touch. The cold noodle was soo yum and was a surprise to me. I ordered it since it was a popular dish on YELP and I would say order it and let it speak for itself! The stir-fried chicken and soup were a great combination as you can double up on protein! The stir fried chicken has a perfect blend of seasoning and flavors and is most similar to better flavored/seasoned popcorn chicken in my opinion. The fish soup was also awesome and comes in a spicy or non-spicy flavor. For dessert, the taro rice is a simple, yet tasty dessert. The best comparison I could make is like an arroz con leche, but less rice and milk. Still a great refreshing dessert to end the meal! Overall, the experience was great! The staff was nice and quick to service, even helping us pack our leftovers! I will say if you come in the evening try to get yourself on the Yelp waitlist ahead of time so you get seated ahead of time !
It's hard for me to stray from my usual Sichuan spot, but Sichuan Impression offers some unique dishes that made m want to try, and I'm so glad I did. Here's what I ordered for takeout: Boiled Fish with Rattan Pepper ($23.99), Tea Smoked Pork Rib ($27.99), A-Choy Taiwanese Lettuce with Garlic ($13.99), Tender Bamboo Shoots in Chili Sauce ($9.99), Mini Lamb Skewer ($22.99), and Intestine Noodle of Shuangliu ($12.99). Every dish was flavorful and delicious. The Tea Smoked Pork Rib was a bit pricey for what it is, but it was still tasty and I'm glad I tried it. Everything was packed very well, and ordering over the phone saves you some money compared to ordering online through their website. When I arrived, the people who helped me with my order were friendly and efficient. Overall, the prices here are comparable to or slightly less than my usual Sichuan place. There are definitely things this place does very well, and they offer unique dishes that I'd come back for. I do wish they used lived or fresh fish for the Boiled Fish with Rattan Pepper, but for the price, it's still pretty good even with frozen fish fillet.
Some of the BEST Szechuan food I ever tasted. Restaurant looked liked any casual Chinese dining spot. Service was very quick and standard. The flavors of the food were very bold. My favorite highlights were the chicken with green Szechuan sauce and the street fries in mala seasoning. Everything was ordered in mild but did not sacrifice the mouth numbing aspect one bit. My friends and I had a silly moment trying the plum juice and with a 100% consensus found that it tasted like Carl's Jr bbq sauce lol Cant wait to come back try the other items
Came in on my own for dinner while in town for a work trip. This is right in my old neighborhood but was not here when I lived here. I wish it had been! Best kung pao I've ever had. This is kung pao done right. I ate the whole plate in one sitting because I just couldn't stop myself. Service was fine. I didn't need it to be more than what it was. And prices are fair. The place is packed and popular. Even as a party of 1 on a Sunday night, I had to wait 30 minutes, so keep that in mind. But I will definitely come back next trip to try the mapo tofu.
I'm still sweating just thinking about my experiences here! My tolerance for spicy is not the greatest, but every time Sichuan Impression has one of their special set menus (which seems to happen at least 2 or 3 times a years), I have to pay a visit. Most recently, in celebration of their 11 year anniversary, they ran a $78 combo (that serves 4-6 people) that allowed you to pick 5 courses. And the best things is that some of these selections include some of their most popular dishes. My absolute faves include: Boiled Fish with Rattan Pepper Stir-Fried Chili Chicken (although I wish their set menu includes the intestine version in addition to the chicken) Mini Lamb Skewer Tender Bamboo Shoots in Chili Sauce For the amount of food you get, it ends up not being a bad deal, especially splits amongst 4+ people. If you're into sichuan food, you can't really go wrong with any of the selections here. But if you're like me and start sweating the moment that first peppercorn hits your mouth, be sure to ask for extra napkins at the beginning!
One of my fave sichuan places! I crave the lamb skewers and picked fish soup at least once month so bad. The service is super quick here too. I came here on a Friday got sat right away and scanned the menu and sent in our order and the food was out within minutes. I really wish there was a way to get a smaller serving dish combo that is like the fish, the lamb and the rice as a special lunch menu because sometimes the servings are so big I get so much left overs to take home. Anyways I always appreciate the consistency of food throughout all locations.

One of the best sichuan restaurants in the OC. Everything was extremely flavorful and very well balanced. The dishes are generally spicy but not aggressively so that you lose the other flavors. Out of the 5 dishes we got, our favorite were the chili chicken, the baby bamboo shoots and the pickled fish. I will definitely keep this in my Chinese restaurant rotation! read more
Came here on weeknight evening to try out their spring menu. The last time I visited, this restaurant was probably over 10 years ago. Wanted to give it a try again. It was enjoyable at that time, but will not go back. We were disappointed with the small serving size of the spring menu entrees. It does not seem like the regular size and so between the four of us, we were still hungry and ordered two more dishes, which turned out to be a good size for us. Would recommend skipping their promotional menu items because their portions are a lot smaller. The dumplings were not impressive as the name says. There was barely any filling in it, and it was almost flat as a pancake. Left feeling unsatisfied in my stomach was not happy with me afterwards and the next day. Taking an anti-acid beforehand didn't help me. The service was severely lacking. I am accustomed to this type of service in many similar type restaurants, but this was not acceptable. Our waiter was dismissive and never came to offer anything and we had to flag down assistance for everything. read more

Flavors held up over the years, never gets tiring coming here. The Tasty Chicken dish here is normally quite heavy on the MaLa spice but this place uses very little which is good for people like me. Hope this place never changes! Decently lit inside and plenty of room for large parties. Food comes out pretty quickly too so not much wait time, very appreciated. Boiled fish filet in chili sauce pot $23? 5/5! You can eat it without rice and it's still good. The veggies and protein I found was quite plentiful and one pot is enough for 3 people. It was spicy (2.5/5) and flavorful, with lots of fresh garlic to amp up the flavor. I found myself eating the veggies over the fish sometimes. Stir fried chili pork ribs $20 3.5/5 wasn't bad, much better when eaten with the stir fried garlic slices. I've made similar items at home so this wasn't too out of the ordinary Rice is $1.5 We got on the waitlist from home and headed out later :) helps beat the line. It's loud inside, but since you order off the phone it's not too difficult to get the things you want. read more
6/10 Wontons in Chili Oil- Super mid. The wontons were literally room temp/cold when they came out. They did not taste fresh either. 10/10 Mini Lamb Skewer- So freaking delicious! 10/10 Stir Fried Chili Chicken- I love this dish. 1000/10 Stir Fried Chili Pork Ribs- My favorite dish from the whole night. The pork just fell off the bones. YUM. 8/10 Ma-Po Tofu- Not bad. Nothing crazy to rave about. 9/10 Fried String Beans- A bit on the greasier side but nonetheless packed with flavor. 5/10 Homestyled Fried Rice- wow this has got to be the worst fried rice from a chinese restaurant I have ever had. Firstly, it's too spicy and secondly, it had such a lack of flavor. 10/10 Service: Great service on Chinese New Years. 8/10 Cost: I don't have the itemized receipt, but the total cost, including tip, came to $148. That averages out to about $21 per plate--not a bad price, especially considering the excellent quality of the food. Just don't get the fried rice! Lol read more

Glad we tried it! Their sichuan food is very unique and we would come again. Their set up is pretty efficient and they have a QR code menu where you can place your order without having to flag down a waiter. They also have a Yelp waitlist as it can get full on the weekends. Got the: 1. String beans: 10/10, amazing delicious with scrumptious garlic and beef 2. Cucumbers: 10/10, so good! It's pickled and goes great with the garlic 3. Boiled Fish Filet: 8.5/10, very garlicky but only mildly spicy. It's also not as well proportioned as other restaurants. It's good but not what I expected 4. Couples sliced Beef: 9/10, really good, just needs a little more cilantro 5. Impressive Cold noodles: 8/10, actually surprisingly sweet, I works say it is more sweet and earthly than spicy 6. Came here for dine LA. Has a really nice dinner overall. They only offered the dine la menu to us. Wasn't for sure if we could order other things. We had the kung pao chicken. Uhmazing Tea smoke ribs (worst dish of the night. They were really dry. Cucumbers. Spicy and good! Sliced beef with scallions. Typical fare. Good. But prolly should have been more adventurous in that course. Impressive dumplings. Good! Nothing was really all that spicy. But will go back to try more! read more

I didn't even realize they offered catering services until a friend recommended them--and I'm so glad they did. I ordered a party tray for a sponsored gallery exhibition event we hosted with about 60 guests, and the whole experience exceeded my expectations. Everything was prepared beautifully and thoughtfully. The food presentation was clean and appealing, and they made it incredibly convenient by including utensils, plates, and napkins for all 60 people. It saved us so much time and stress while planning the event. The setup was smooth, the portions were generous, and our guests really enjoyed the food. It made hosting the event much easier and more enjoyable for us. Overall, it was a seamless and positive experience from start to finish. If you're craving Szechuan, this is the place. We really enjoyed all the dishes we ordered. My favorite was the boiled fish filets in chili sauce. You order digitally through scanning a QR code. We got our food instantly as soon we ordered and the portions we ordered were perfect for a party of 4. There's lots of seating and we didn't have to wait for so long. Authentic sichuan food with great flavors. A little salty so you will definitely need to order white rice. The food is very tasty and the place was busy with mandarin speakers which must mean its good, so typical of any great Chinese restaurant do not expect good customer service. The service is pretty much nonexistent. For a sit down establishment it's the bare minimum of human interaction. They tell you to scan the QR code for the menu which leads you to a website that sends your order direct to the kitchen. The online website and ordering interface is off putting. The mobile web interface isn't very good because the menu is mostly in Chinese and cuts off the English translation. If you already know what you want to order this shouldn't be a problem but if it's your first time, best of luck to you. And if you have food allergies, all bets are off since you can't read it unless you are fluent in Chinese. You can't get a real human to talk to until your order is arriving to the table and even so, best of luck. Our server dropped off the food and turned away and took off as fast as she could, averting eye contact so that we couldn't ask her anything. Don't come too hungry because it takes a while for your food to come out. Some items will come out then a good 15 -20 minutes will pass before the remaining dishes are served. Tables are seated and served and cleared before all your dishes will come out. Take out containers are left in the middle of the restaurant and I guess you just help yourself as I saw other customers get up and select their containers. If you do get to talk to an employee, they're very pleasant. read more
A good example of a highly rated establishment that actually lives up to the hype. Went there on a Sunday for lunch. As can be expected, they did have a slight wait. However, since I was solo, they were able to seat me in the bar area. I wanted to try something different this time, but familiarity won out and I had the spicy fish fillet dish with cabbage. This dish is full of flavor and is definitely spicy, if you like your soups and broths hot and spicy, this dish is for you. Plenty of fish and vegetables, this dish satisfied my taste buds. The servers are very nice people, who are always on the go. Nevertheless, you can flag them down and get what you need, The spicy crab dish looks like it might be a good choice. I've always been scared to try Szechuan food bc of the tongue numbing spice but I've heard such amazing things about this place that i decided to give it a try and I'm glad i did! To a non spice eater i was surprisingly able to eat a lot of items here and nothing was over the top too spicy. Everything we got was pretty good but the beef noodle soup and boneless chili chicken were the stand out dishes. There's so much flavor in the noodle soup besides spice and i can see myself getting it regularly. The tea smoked ribs looked good but it came out kinda dry so i wouldn't order that again. Same with the map tofu - it didn't have much flavor but the tofu itself was really silky. Service was pretty good as well. They came by often to refill our waters and check in on us which was appreciated when things got too spicy. Would def come back to try more dishes and expand my palette here! read more

We ordered from the lunch weekday special and it was enough food for me and a friend (could've bought a third person and we would all be full!!) My cousin invited me to this place for our annual get together. This place is spacious and well lit with just enough room to walk. There's a QR code on the table to place your order. Her husband said this is the most original Sichuan food that he was able to find. She ordered an entire table of plates and this place is known for its spicy food. I was sweating on the first plate of bamboo. It was good but way too spicy for my body to handle. There were a few items that were not spicy like the Eggs and Tomatoes and Kung Pao Chicken. Most of the spicy items have the option for no spicy. Overall, this place has good food and good customer service. The bathroom was clean and had a nice fragrance. I'm just realizing how important the presentation and smell of the bathroom has on your experience as well. I definitely recommend going here. read more

Came here for a group lunch again with my coworkers to celebrate another birthday. We tried SO much of the menu, and honestly everything was amazing. I'll try to list out everything I loved and tried. This place was very authentic. They didn't check on us too much, but service was decent. Things to try: Cold noodles (peanut), wontons in chili oil, fried rice, kung pao chicken, chili chicken, braised duck, boiled fish with rattan pepper. I may be missing a handful of items, the menu is so vast. Everything was so delicious. Most items are on the spicy side, so please watch out for that if you low tolerance to spice. We skipped the dessert since it did not look enticing. Very delicious! Plenty of parking in this old strip mall location. read more

Came with a friend on a Friday night around opening time (5 pm) after a bad day at work. Ordered the dishes in the pictures as well as twice cooked pork (not pictured). The bamboo shoots and intestine dish were a bit spicier than I'm used to but... Wow... This is just what I needed after today. Flavorful, perfectly cooked food, followed by the most refreshing desserts (and yes, I will give Both desserts the compliment of "not too sweet"!) Honestly, I feel a bit happy again just looking at the pictures lol. The staff/service was very nice and patient, as well. I will definitely be back with such good food and service. Yummy!!!!!!!! Love this place. The vibe, ambience, the food is all great. The servers are very nice and polite. You order food through a QR code, and they come out pretty quickly. You can choose mild spicy, which is perfect for our party since I cannot eat something too spicy. I would definitely recommend the restaurant, and I can't wait to go back again to try different food! Visited Sichuan Impression in Tustin hoping for that signature bold and spicy Sichuan kick, but unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the mark for me. The dishes lacked the heat and deep flavor that you'd expect from authentic Sichuan cuisine. While the food was decent enough, it felt a bit toned down and underwhelming in terms of spice and taste. That being said, if you live nearby and are looking for a convenient spot for some mild Sichuan food, it's a solid option for a quick bite. The service was good, and the ambiance was nice, but for a true spicy Sichuan experience, this wouldn't be my first choice. We went to Sichuan impression yesterday and the food was absolutely amazing -- truly authentic Sichuan flavors. They're celebrating their 11th anniversary with a limited-time 5-course meal for only $78, which is such a great deal. Got recommended this spot by a friend who said it's the real deal for Sichuan food, and wow, they were so right! Near the 5 Freeway and Disneyland, it's super convenient. The flavors?
