Rate this food a solid 4.0, the full portion was 15 bucks (half was 10) and is well over enough food for 2 people. Fry to chicken ratio is almost 50/50 and the chicken and fries were still crispy and hot by the time we got home. The downsides of this place was that the service was slow, almost 15 minutes for my food when i arrived with no one in line/inside waiting. I took everything home, and we promptly devoured it. A solid 4.5 star establishment based on value, hospitality, generosity, and that it's a local small business. We stopped by after a workout for some chicken sandwiches. I was shocked by the price ($5-7) and was expecting them to be tiny slider sizes but they were pretty hefty! We were helped by Lalo who was incredibly hospitable and generous. He let us sample the different sauces and even let us try the different drinks! We had such a tough time picking between the Sandwiches because they were all really delicious but we settled on the Cali Chick (the chipotle sauce is so good) and the Korean Chick (the kimchi coleslaw was super refreshing) as well as a side of fries, a lemon/cucumber aide and a strawberry lemonade mixed with Jamaica. They also offered sodas, kombucha, and desserts from Manolo The drinks were served without ice... so that means all 16 Oz of your drink is delicious flavorful liquid. If you're concerned about it getting warm, drink fast or take it home and add ice! Both sandwiches were flavorful and well balanced. The fries were super plentiful and thick cut. Lalo also included one of each type of sauce they had as well as a hot chicken strip for free for us to try! My only critiques would be that the chicken could be a touch juicier and the fried a bit crispier. The patty is pretty fat so I'm sure they wanted to ensure it was thoroughly cooked. This is easily remedied by cooking the chicken at a higher temp for less time or by pounding the chicken slightly thinner. The delicious sauces and additions in the sandwiches made the slight chicken dryness barely noticeable though. Side chick is connected to Manolo supermarket so it's super convenient to come before or after shopping. There are outdoor tables as well as a few chairs inside! The market has plenty of spaces available in the parking lot which was a benefit. The simple menu was comprised of three chicken sandwiches (aka Buns), two chicken tenders (aka Strips), and french fries (plain or loaded with chicken). The sandwiches were available as regular or spicy which included jalapenos. The third version cost $1 more because of the addition of avocado. Similarly, the tenders were offered as regular or spicy ('side' versus 'hot'). My choices were The Side Chick and a Hot Strip. The former contained a hand-dipped chicken breast with scratch-made "Bad B" sauce, coleslaw, and pickles on a brioche bun. Although it was on the sloppy side from an assembly standpoint, the chicken breast was moist with a crispy crust. For the size, quality, and cost, it was arguably as good as the product across the street from a famous national fried chicken franchise. The Hot Strip contained little heat as I did not detect much spiciness in the breading. Pickles were supposed to be served on the side, but I did not receive any. A couple of small cups of honey mustard sauce were provided though. I enjoyed the two items enough to give Side Chick a four star rating. read more
