5/9/2026 - returned back here and just ordered 4 Basic Chick sandwiches. Brought several friends with me this time. Sitting outside and hope they enjoy it. 15 minutes more should be goodness coming our way. More to come. 3 stars at the moment. Total cost was $12.55 to feed 4 adults. One sandwich per person. Wow. 5 minutes later it's out. 5 stars. We all over it. 4 nice crispy greats not over cooked and crunchy, places in good size thick and crisp pickles between 2 buns. Hot and moist chicken and not over cooked. Come try this place. Just $5 each! You can try other versions for a few dollars more as well

If you love chicken sandwiches, Side Chick is the spot. Crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor--every bite hits just right. Their spicy chicken sandwich had the perfect kick, and the slaw added a refreshing crunch that kept me coming back for more. Sides: Don't sleep on the fries--they're crispy, seasoned perfectly, and pair amazingly with their dipping sauces. Vibe: Casual, fun, and welcoming. Perfect for a quick lunch or a chill hangout with friends. Staff are friendly and super upbeat. I've tried a lot of chicken sandwiches in town, but Side Chicks takes it to the next level. Bold flavors, satisfying crunch, and the kind of spot that makes you say, "Yep, I'll be back."

Omg how did I not know about this place sooner??? This shop is right next to the grocery store so after you grab your groceries, head on over to Side Chicks. I recommend ordering online so you can simply pickup and go. I got the Hot Chick sandwich which was the Nashville style sandwich. Be careful it's SPICY WOO! So big, so cheap, so fresh, and so delicious! Highly recommend this one and the chicken was thick and tender. I think for $6-8 it's so worth the price! I also got the onion rings and it was delicious. Definitely hits the spot! I'll 1000% be back to try other stuff here. Parking: 9/10 (easy to find parking) Service: 7/10 (fast and efficient. I'd order online) Ambiance: 8/10 (outside seating provided, kiosk to order or with staff, clean, and small) Food: 10/10 (enjoyed the fluffy bread, tender and crispy chicken breast, spice level was kicking for this one, and coleslaw was creamy and delicious)

Stopped here on a Sunday after a long day of working hard. The whole family was exhausted and we wanted chicken sandwiches. It was great to see the newest Sando on the menu: "The Italian Chick", with marinara sauce and italian cheese. We tried: 1. The (Original) Basic Chick and 2. The Western Chick with Fries, bbq sauce on side and added a korean sauce on the side Everything was DELICIOUS! The fries are a seasoned french fries version and very tasty. The sauce on the side for dipping was perfect. Each sandwich was prepared well, and the fried chicken filet was perfectly crispy. They never let us down here. We discovered this place a few years ago when they only had 1-2 chicken sandwiches on the menu. Now, they have expanded their menu with SEVERAL different sandwich choices, loaded fries, and they have "Gabby's Cookies" which are stuffed with filling in them. I do miss "The French Chick" Sando. Thanks Side Chick, I am so glad that we found you a few years ago and that you're still going strong

Let's talk about those friends, always complaining about not being able to eat that plain-a$$-chicken-sandwich (w/the cow mascot) on Sundays! Side Chick has been here for years! Stop hiding from South East Day-Go and patronize a small business, 7 days a week! Food is made to order so it's HOT! The Basic Side Chick with Pickles (on the side) gets the job done. Service is always some young man who is attentive, moves with urgency and knows how to "count back" my change. For less than $12 you have a good-sized sandwich and fries (1/2 order). I do wish the fries were crispier, but that's one of the downsides to fresh cut fries. I'm not a huge fan of the fry salt- I just don't get the hint of sugar on my fries thing. The Pickles are good on their own! We always order extra for snacking on later. Would love to have their pickles brined with the fresh jalapeños so they can be extra spicy. Grilled Brooch bun is on point. We always devour our sandwiches as soon as we get them (pix are from their www.eatsidechick.com) I think I'm going to spread my wings and go for the Korean chick fries on my next go-round.

BAD bad bad bad BAD just had this and i cannot recommend enough that you skip it completely. pictures on their menu are completely misleading. compare "fries" depicted on menu to soggy, mushy potatoes received. chicken sandwiches were beyond disappointing. the bread was stale. the hot honey sandwich had no hot honey. the chicken was not crispy/fried. one of the sandwiches was missing pickles. service was super slow and although hours say they close at 10pm, employees locked doors right at 9pm, and some people had to leave bc the doors were locked. truly so bad i don't understand the current 4.4 rating P.S. EDITING bc i forgot to mention that they charge you $0.50 for ranch, and it's freaking Hidden Valley

I ordered a hot honey fries and it was NOT a good experience. The chicken was oily and it was too spicy it made it un-edible. Not much flavor just painfully hot. The fries were stale and had little to no salt or seasoning. Due to the reviews we were so excited yet highly disappointed.

Finally got to try this place after seeing it for so long and it ended up being very good! I got the seasonal hot honey basic chick sandwich which was pretty large (bun + chicken patty) and well worth the price. A little spicy due to the hot honey, and wouldn't mind trying the other flavors. Staff were very nice and it didn't take that long to get my order. No seating inside, just a few tables outside. Thanks!

Been eyeing this place since they opened a few years ago and finally got to try today. Ehh it's good but nothing crazy to rave and rant about. It's connected to Manolo with its own entrance and bathroom and plenty of parking. The guy taking our order handling the iPad was also the person who made our food. Hopefully he wore gloves or washed his hands before handling our foods. We got 2 orders of hot chick sandwiches, 1 cali chick, and small onion rings. Okay for the price points of $7-8/sandwich it's pretty good for the portion of the chicken which was pretty thick and covered the entire buns. It was juicy and flavors complimented well. It paired well with the pickle and coleslaw inside. I got the hot chick and I eat pretty spicy and to say it was spicy and had a nice kick to it means it's on the spicier side for others. I could agree that it could've been drenched a little more. The onion rings were fried to perfection and had a nice little crunch.

Side Chick is a great name for this place! It is located inside the Mexican market on the side, hence the name. Lady was working alone so she did the best she could. I did take out. Korean chick: 5/5 The chicken was thick. It was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I loved the pickled veggies and the crispy cucumber. I highly recommend Onion rings: 2/5 I love onion rings. Every chance I get to order it, I will. I won't order it here, however. Their portions are large but the onion came right out of the breading. It was not good at all. Basic chick: my hubby did not love good sandwich. The bbq sauce that came with it was just Ok. Loaded fries:3/5 the sauce was over powering. The chicken wasn't a crunchy.

I still try to stop by every few months as this place holds a special place in my heart. A no frills spot. Solid and consistent. To the point but friendly customer service. Fantastic drink, chip and snack selection. Sandwiches are always bomb asf. The hot momma and BLT loaded up is my favorite. My husband still loves their Ruben (it is his favorite place to get it.) You get a small potato or macaroni salad on the side with a pickle (perfect crunch.) I personally think it's a great little add on. Their chili is also simple but delicious. I personally think their chili pairs perfectly with any of their sandwiches. It's not a heavy thick chili. Which is why I think it pairs so well. I won't lie it's a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. It's loaded up and good quality. I never feel gross or overly bloated after eating here. I heard they're going to start serving beer and wine soon as well! *Best 1st-timer options*: The Keeper (if you like it spicy) or the L.G.B.T. My favorite hot sandwiches are the Cali Cubano, B3, and The Keeper, while my favorite cold sandwiches are the Avocado Highway, L.G.B.T. (lettuce, gouda, bacon, tomato), and Caprese. My favorite salads are the Grapevine and Duck Cranberry. For sides I recommend the potato salad and tomato basil bisque. The aioli they use is to die for -- can't hurt to get a side of it with any sandwich! The restaurant is situated on the corner of Park Blvd. and Polk Ave. (more generally, it's on the strip of Park Blvd. between University Ave. and El Cajon Blvd.). There is usually a good amount of parking on Park Blvd. and Polk Ave., which is nice. The space has a simple-yet-tasteful modern design and interior, is always clean, with friendly and helpful staff. Great for lunch hour or a weekend date. Update: Came back today with my friend and we ordered the B3 and the Turkey & Cheddar Mousse sandwiches, plus sides of potato salad and cucumber salad, and a double chocolate cookie with pistachio and sea salt. Everything was really good, but the Turkey & Cheddar Mousse sandwich was the star of the show. The cookie was great too. We both agreed the potato salad could use some salt, but besides that it was a solid meal all around.

Big Front Door has quickly become a new favorite for sandwiches, and visiting two days in a row…read moremade that very clear. On the first visit, Zack provided exceptional care and attention while helping navigate food allergies. Zack took the time to carefully check ingredients, double-check preparations, and personally come back out to verify everything to ensure safety. That level of care made the experience feel genuinely welcoming and stress-free. The chicken sandwich was fresh, satisfying, and thoughtfully balanced. Juicy chicken, ripe tomatoes, creamy avocado, and a bright splash of oil and vinegar came together beautifully on Big Front Door's roll, which had a great texture and held everything together well. The flavors were clean and vibrant. A little extra salt would have pushed it over the top for a salt-lover, but that came down to personal preference rather than any shortcoming. A dining companion ordered the avocado sandwich and could not stop raving about it, praising both the flavor and the freshness. The outdoor seating area deserves special mention. The shaded space was perfect as I do have sun allergies, especially for anyone who prefers relief from direct sun. The care taken in food preparation added an extra layer of comfort and trust. The second visit somehow raised the bar even higher. Micah went above and beyond to accommodate physical ability needs with patience, attentiveness, and genuine kindness. That effort did not go unnoticed and made the experience feel deeply respectful and inclusive. The roasted chicken sandwich ordered on the second visit was phenomenal. The roasted chicken was tender, savory, and full of depth, elevating the sandwich even further. Adding a bit of extra salt brought all the ingredients into perfect harmony, making every bite more satisfying than the last. This sandwich has officially earned a spot as a new favorite sandwich. Big Front Door was amazing not just for delicious, thoughtfully prepared food, but for the people who work there. Zack and Micah created an environment where care, kindness, and respect were clearly prioritized. No moment felt rushed, dismissive, or uncomfortable. At no point did anyone make the experience feel like a burden or inconvenience. A sincere thank-you also goes to the team members who prepared the food. Even without knowing names, the care taken to keep guests safer while serving delicious nourishment was evident and deeply appreciated. Big Front Door comes highly recommended for the flavorful sandwiches, the shaded outdoor space, the welcoming atmosphere, outstanding customer service, and the genuine kindness shown at every action.

I came in and immediately the woman working in the front I could tell was rude and radiating negative energy. I am witnessing a common theme about this with many of the other people who have left negative reviews about this establishment. You guys also seem to reply and pretend like you resolve the issue but there have been multiple review follow-ups where people claim you guys do not actually make up for the horrible service. Anyway, I walk in and immediately I have to wait a long time to order and I can tell that the guy in front of me has been there a while already. Finally, I place my order and the lady is so awfully rude. Every answer I had for her questions made me feel that I had done something wrong even though I was very nice and just there for a simple thing: to get a sandwich. I usually greet people and ask how they are doing but she got directly to business. I understand that she was busy but she was immediately unwelcoming. "What kind of bread would you like?" (I do not see the bread on the menu when I immediately look up so I reply, "white (I will admit there are many different types of bread but I did not know what they have and usually when I order somewhere I just say white and they know what I am talking about or politely ask for clarification) *she rolls her eyes* "french, sourdough, Dutch?" Then, she asked me if I wanted lettuce and tomato. I replied, "just lettuce please" and again she makes me feel dumb for just ordering. I ask if the sandwich comes with mayonnaise because it was not listed but there were additional items on it and she says that they do not have mayonnaise but another sauce as if mayonnaise is a crazy request. "Can I get a name for the order?" "Jessica" "Jessica?" like my name is ugly or something and not like she could not hear me. At this point I am picking apart everything that she uttered but seriously such an unhappy woman with no hospitality skills. Trust me on this and either experience it yourself or read some other 1-star reviews if you do not believe me. She then walked away as I was still paying so I could not even ask for a receipt or anything. This was essentially the extent of my direct experience with the woman in the front but I witnessed more things happening to other customers while I was waiting for my sandwich for a really long time. Apparently an order kept getting rung up and people kept coming in trying to pick it up but it had already been picked up and the woman would say "communicate this. someone already picked it up" with a huge attitude like it was their fault there was a glitch in the system. I also took notice that there was a big order for 4:30 and when the order was finished, one of the male workers went over and served himself a drink from the soft drinks dispenser and when he was handing the woman all of the many bags, he took a break to take a drink out of his cup. I think it also important that I add she had already been given 5-6 bags and was caring a lot and he was not coughing and desperately needed water and I do not even think there was water in the cup. I will also say though that all of the customers waiting were very friendly and understanding that they were busy and I am too but there was no reason to be rude and lack the principles of basic costumer service. I work with people too and we all have bad days but by the looks of these other reviews, this is a very common occurrence. I am glad people are willing to speak up about this. Another thing I noticed was that apparently someone's order was not in the system and they made the person feel so bad for it and that it was their fault except with all of these problems, it is highly likely that this could have been the establishment's fault but they never even entertained this. I might also add that the woman that took my order when she was making sandwiches I saw her cough into her hands (no gloves mind you) and then grab the *at least it was* wrapped sandwich and put it in the bag. I wanted to try this place because it was close to my campus and I will say that the sandwich tasted good but it was nowhere near worth the horrible aura I experience while being at Ike's. I will surely never spend another dime at Ike's and encourage my friends to not support a business that does not prioritize cleanliness and kindness. Even when they packed up my order, the same man who was taking sip breaks handing a woman her order, was throwing my stuff together and gave me a tiny bag when he saw I was also holding my chips and drink. That was not very thoughtful if you ask me but I would not expect thoughtfulness after what I had already endured from this sandwich joint. I think Ike's would benefit from a personality change and should consider improving their warmth and helpful nature.

I loved seeing such a big variety of options -- fresh juices, salads, bowls, and other healthy choices -- but also some traditional Mexican items you'd find at a tiendita like tortas, aguas frescas, and tostilocos. A really nice blend of nutritious meals and fun treats. I ordered the sandwich meal, and the price felt very reasonable for the size of the sandwich and the generous side of lentil soup it came with. They also offer coffee and lots of canned drinks to go. One thing to note: my to‑go order took a bit longer than expected, so keep that in mind if you're in a rush. I was so hungry I scarfed it down before I could snap a pic, but trust me -- it looked delicious. Overall, it's great to finally have a spot in this area with healthy, good‑quality options on the go.

The restaurant was almost full when we got there, and still got our order out in less than 10 minutes. Highly recommend if you are a lobster fanatic like me

You'll have to park about a quarter mile away and potentially in a neighborhood because there is no parking on the street where Pete's is. I was sold on the crab roll as I'm not a really big fan of lobster. We also opted for the fish and shrimp. The crab roll is a stand out on its own. It had very great flavor and was fresh. I didn't mind the thick piece of bread that it came on, but I found myself just eating the crab itself. The fish and shrimp were actually quite nice and fresh. The shrimp was better than the fish in terms of seasoning. The fish was in desperate need of any type of seasoning. It was extremely plain. A dash of salt, or your favorite dipping sauce perhaps. I did find it interesting that the fish and shrimp plate did not come with a lemon. The fries were not too bad and reminded me a bit of In-N-Out fries when they've been in the bag for five minutes longer than they should and become soggy. They aren't bad, just would have preferred them to be crispier. The patio is covered and although it's small and the tables can feel close to each other the area still nice. For these two dishes, we spent $58.
