I swear I thought I wrote a review about this place or maybe I tried to keep this place as one of my secret spots haha either way, I love coming to this place. They have a simple, straightforward menu with a good variety. The location is within Manolo but has a separate entrance. They have a variety of drinks you can grab when you order your food. I have tried the skinny chick before here, it's usually my go to and it's delicious because they keep the grilled chicken juicy which is important for me. This time around I tried their cali chick and Nashville fries. I devoured my sandwich within minutes and those fries were so packed, I had to help my partner finish them. My review is only for the food as someone picked up the food for me. I tried their Hot Strips, 1 Regular Tender and the Skinny Chick Sandwich but lettuce wrapped! I loved it and it was wrapped nicely which made the eating experience nice. I do keto so it's something different than getting the usual protein style from In-n-Out. The tenders were extra crispy but not full of breading. I wish they were spicier though! They have a wide selection of dipping sauces but I wasn't too fond of them, although I feel like the seasoning on the tenders already provide lots of flavor. I got extra pickles and if you're a pickle lover you're going to want to order an extra side of them. They're so good with the meal and have the perfect sourness. We're having some yard and construction work done today, so I ordered the crew some lunch before they get started. Placed an online order for pickup. I went to pickup the order, about 4 or 5 miles away. The restaurant was clean and orderly, and they were busy with customers placing orders and waiting for orders, and my order was somewhere in between. Within a few minutes my order was ready. I picked up, placed in my vehicle and drove away, without checking it. I got home to separate the order for our work crew and the kids, and they shorted us a sandwich along with a misunderstanding on my part on how the chicken tenders were ordered. I immediately called, and they made everything right! Even offered a delivery of the missing items along with a little extra for the misunderstanding! I offered an extra tip for them coming out to deliver but they refused. Best customer service ever. They've earned a return customer for sure. read more

Ever since I saw Side Chick was under construction at FoodLand (or Manolo now), I've had my eye on it. Finally stopped by for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon and they were pretty busy! I ordered the Side Chick (~$5) and it took about 15 minutes for my food to be done. It was only two employees working and they also share a kitchen with a takeout sushi joint. So definitely understaffed but some hiccups are to be expected at a new food joint. The sandwich was delicious! Definitely a big piece of chicken and it was well seasoned + juicy. The sauce on the side went great with the sandwich. It wasn't too spicy either. I do wish the bun was toasted more but I'll definitely come back! read more

Wow! This place is a hidden gem, after seeing a long line at Popeyes across the street I decided to check out this place. I'm glad I did as there was no line and the prices were low. Upset with myself for not finding this place sooner. Side Chick is a chicken sandwich shop attached to a grocery store. It's similar in concept to In n Out where they have about 5 items on the menu and everything is executed to perfection. I ordered the Hot Chick and my friend ordered the Side Chick. We both enjoyed our sandwiches very much. The Hot Chick does have seeds from a pepper on it so if you're sensitive to heat, I recommend sticking with the Side Chick. You could tell that they use quality ingredients and cook the food fresh for you. The price is extremely reasonable for the quality you're getting. I recommend splitting the fries with someone else because the portion size may be too much for just one person. Customer service was a bit lacking from the gal who took our order and gave us food but I understand we may have off days from time to time. It took us off guard that as soon as we walked in, she asked us what she can get for us. I was halfway inside when she asked that question. This doesn't warrant less stars but it is something to take note of going forward. TLDR; this place is bomb and will be telling everyone about it. I definitely will be back! read more

Heard about this place via Facebook. Decided to give it a shot while visiting San Diego. We were not disappointed. The sandwiches are very well put together, with so many contrasting textures and perfect flavor mixes! Be warned, the Hot Chick is HOT. Not in the way most places say "hot" and you get a hint of black or cayenne pepper. This thang ZINGS! Runny nose hot, but all flavor and not overpowered by just heat. Cooled off the tongue with a delicious strawberry lemonade. Even with snot on my lips and my tongue having a mild stroke, you could really taste the strawberry and lemonade joined together in a marriage of sweet and tart. 10/10 Ordered (and enjoyed) the basket of fries too. It's big enough for two to share and the homemade fry sauce is a flavorful take on Thousand Island. Finally! I've had this on my "to try" list for a minute. Ordering in person was really confusing. I was not greeted for a while and was really confused about what to do. So, Ordering process needs work. I just got over Covid, so I guess I'm more aware of things like this now... There was a used Starbucks drink in the cooler with the customer drinks... no, no, hail no. I did finally get my food, well after people who came in after me. There is no system. The ultimate one star? The food prep guy, with NO GLOVES, WITH A MASK ONLY AROUND HIS MOUTH, CONTINUOUSLY TOUCHING HIS NOSE, THEN BUNS, THEN MASK, etc. I was like, well I just had Covid, and I'm triple vaxxed, but what about the people who aren't? Unacceptable! The food was strangely bland. I was unsure how to fix it. It was very sweet. Pickles were nice and crunchy, coleslaw was gummy and seemed old, not crisp. Fries were not very crispy. The Korean Chick was crispy and moist with extra saucy goodness. The sandwich was tasty and flavorful. However, I would have appreciated more spice and heat. Perhaps the Hot Chick would have been a better option. The onion rings were also delicious, but there was no ketchup. The staff appeared to be timid teenagers. Yesterday I had my mom pick me up some food on her way home. She was at my grandma's house and this is the first place that popped up on Yelp in that area. Seemed like a new place & the reviews so far were good, so I gave it a shot! Now travel time definitely plays a part into the experience/quality of the food by the time you eat it, but overall, I was still really satisfied!! I definitely liked the Hot Chick (although it could've been hotter) better. Both sandwiches had a nice crunch to them, even with the sauces and the coleslaw. I'm normally not even a fan of coleslaw but it tasted good with these sandwiches. Now pickles are my archenemy and I forgot to tell my mom no pickles (and honestly I was upset that she didn't know me enough to know that I DESPISE them lol), so I was nervous the sandwiches would be a little tainted because I'm the type that can taste the pickle juice/residue no matter what, BUT I still enjoyed them lol The fries were really good too! I was honestly really surprised by the fries. Nooowwwwww some people hate In N Out fries, but personally, I'm a fan (of course as long as I eat them right away.) I saw y'all of that to say that these fries reminded me of In N Out's fries, except they were bigger. They had a really nice crunch to them as well and I enjoyed the fresh/quality taste of them. Another great part about this place, we're the prices!! Im not sure how long they'll last, but each sandwich was only $5! That's a steal!!! Not sure if that's the price point because it's a new Restaurant or because they just love their customers lol, but either way, I love it! I had the chance to visit Side Chick when on the West Coast. This one was connected to a small grocery store. They offered takeout only. There are a few seats to sit outside and dine on a nice day. The manager/part owner of the restaurant was really friendly. Because we were not familiar with the store he offered samples of the different sandwiches that they offered. Although we got to sample most of them, my favorite was the Korean sandwich. It was a chicken sandwich with slightly fermented, vegetables, cucumber, and a Korean sauce. It was very good. I also got a order of fries. The fries were cooked very well and seasoned already. also in our order was the chicken and waffle. It's called the sweet chick. It was very good as well. The chicken was cooked crispy and the waffle was sweet. I like their chicken because it has a crunchy outer breading and comes with different sauces that complement the flavor that they are going for. The staff that worked in the store was really really nice and it warmed my heart to know that the business was partly minority owned. If I am on the West Coast again, I would definitely stop by to try other sandwiches from them. read more

Yelp led me to Side Chick and I'm SO glad they did! I ordered the Side Chick sandwich with a side of their regular fries. EVERYTHING was fresh and delicious. The fries are hand cut, fried perfectly, and seasoned to perfection. The chicken on the sandwich had a light, but crispy and perfectly seasoned batter...was thick cut....and moist. The soft bun and pickles were the perfect accompaniment. The "Bad B" sauce is delicious and compliments both the chicken and fries well. The added plus was the location: plenty of parking and next door to a great market, so you can pick up some groceries while you wait. I will DEFINITELY be back. 10/10! read more

Side chick is the ONLY chicken sandwich place that offers affordable prices with good portions. Chick fil-a, raising canes, Popeyes, etc. are just too overpriced now (thanks to inflation) and are sometimes portioned control where you can only feed a small child, sometimes (150lb here and $15 for a medium meal isn't cutting it anymore lol) Besides the price, the flavors are just way too good.
