I love coming to Sidecar Doughnuts early in the morning when their doughnuts are usually warm. Their cake doughnuts have crispy edges and a moist center that isn't dry or crumbly. I'm not a huge fan of their malasada doughnuts. They are chewy and not warm. I do love their Prosciutto Benedict doughnut, however, which uses their malasada doughnut as a base. My favorite flavors here are the Huckleberry and Choc-A-Lot. Occasionally, they have limited-time flavors I enjoy such as the Jalapeño Honey Corncake, which I wish had more jalapeños mixed in the batter. They recently had a PB&J malasada doughnut that I liked, but I wish it actually had the peanut butter inside and not just glazed on top. Service is always friendly at this location. Love the deal on their app! 3/22/25 Got a free donut and drink with purchase. I tried their huckleberry donut and butter and salt. Both were pretty good, but this kind of donut base isn't my favorite. It was more bread-like. Not super fluffy and soft like Krispy Kreme. A friend told me that the yeast donuts are fluffier. I got the Vegan Gluten Free Apple Chai Spiced seasonal doughnut! I am vegan, not gluten free, but Sidecar bundles the two dietary options together. I much prefer raised doughnuts to cake, but am glad to still have an option instead of none at all! I love that the doughnut had fresh apple chunks in it. I wish it had more of the chai flavor though, it lacked the flavor intensity I was hoping for. Early morning service was super quick and easy despite there being a line. Updating. Still 5 stars because my family loved theirs- Dubai chocolate (my daughter says it's intense and maybe eat half or have fruit with it), maple bacon, and French toast. You can go wrong with Sidecar donuts! The donuts are more cakey but flavors are delicious and innovative. My favorite flavors have to be Butter & Salt, Huckleberry, Maple & Bacon and Old Fashioned. I used to really love Sidecar Doughnuts, and would always recommend and buy them whenever my friends visited... However, I'm disappointed by the taste in donuts as well as customer service. Sometimes when a place becomes more popular, their focus on customer service and quality diminishes with it unfortunately. I like Sidecar so much I follow them on social media, and recently, they introduced a special one weekend only, Dubai Chocolate Malasada (their take on the viral Dubai chocolate in Hawaiian donut form). I was gonna go on 5/31/25 but couldn't find the time to so I placed an order online that afternoon for pickup and when I tried to pay, it stated the Dubai Chocolate malasada was not available. I called the shop and they confirmed the items were not available online and I would need to get in line for them. Therefore, I bought another donut and coffee for pickup and decided I would go on 6/1/25. When I arrived they had a sign saying the malasadas were "not available today." I went to the pickup window... not knowing they changed their pickup to the cashier... waited for almost 5 minutes with no service, while one of the workers was making coffee drinks and completely ignoring me. I said, "Excuse me," twice and she did not bother to look at me or redirect me to the cashier. I finally stood there and read the window which indicated to go to the cashier. The girl at the window continued calling out names for the orders and did not bother to ask me what I needed. This was very poor service and when I got to the cashier, another girl just stared at me blankly while I gave her my name then said, "What?" so I repeated myself. The shop was not busy when I arrived on Sunday morning around 10:30am, but it was loud so maybe she couldn't hear me. The Saigon Cinnamon was just okay. It had a good cinnamon profile although it was a bit more oily than before. For over $5, I was hoping the donut was going to be delicious, but the oil had seeped into the cake donut. The Viet coffee was good and strong. My favorite there is still the Huckleberry, but I haven't had it for some time so not sure if the quality has gone down also. This will be my last time coming here. Going to go to Oliboli, Randy's Donuts or Mag's Donuts instead. Please train your workers to be more friendly and helpful. Better luck next time. read more

Sidecar is just always amazing all the new flavors that their constantly changing have been phenomenal. Although my all-time favorite donut is the butter and salt. I will always get one of those every time and then an extra one with some seasonal flavor. You can't go wrong with a sidecar donut ever even if the line is long it moves so fast. Make sure to capture your rewards when you're there because they do add up and you do need to get a bonus for the price you pay for a phenomenal donut. The price is completely worth each donut. I've tried multiple different types of donuts so far and none of them have ever disappointed me. some will be better than other is depending on what you're feeling that day or your specific taste palette all in all you should just give this place a try no matter what, visit it when you're on your way to the beach or pick something up for an evening snack and treat for you and your friends. Crazy indulgent donuts. Really fast moving line so don't be discouraged if you see one. They often have samples on the counter for you to try. Only thing I would improve is to make for more seating...I get that it's not exactly a hangout spot because it's doughnuts, but there's no reason not to have a comfortable place to sit for 15-30 minutes and the seating is sparse and spartan. My absolute favorite is the strawberry glazed because it has pieces of strawberry inside the doughnut and they are always fresh and warm and just a masterpiece in your mouth. An era has come to an end for me. The donuts are fantastic, I had loved them for years. Today's experience has put such a bad taste in my mouth that I'm not going to come back for years. We ordered online and I thought that was supposed to make the process faster. There is always a 20 minute wait to get in. It used to be that you could see your name on the donuts on the rack and take your order. Now, you have to wait for them to hand it to you. Has worked well in the past. Today, it went differently. I stood waiting for the workers to notice on the left of the cashier- nothing for a while. So then I stood to the right of the cashier. The workers all kept asking me to move back so someone could pay and looking annoyed that I was there. So I kept moving back, then others thought I was cutting so then I moved to the back of the line to get donuts that we had ordered online to save time! The name of the place is sidecar, which is what they call the 13th donut you get when getting a dozen. Unless you order online, because... you don't stand in line for many minutes, even if you do anyways? So the name doesn't make sense if you don't stand in line; ordering doesn't make sense online if you have to wait anyways; sounds like this place doesn't make sense for me anymore. Great donuts; the bad experience ruined it for me. I do think all of this could have been avoided if there was a clear sign stating mobile orders wait here for help over a small sign stating to not take your food without someone helping you. read more

There are now 5 others, one being in San Diego, and the rest in LA. Made fresh every hour with high quality ingredients and without any preservatives. You can really taste the difference, and see the difference in the price. That's right, they aren't cheap, but indulging with one every once in a while is definitely worth it! They have some pretty decadent flavors like the Choc-a-lot, Cookies & Cream, Maple Bacon, and Hazelnut Mocha Crunch. That last one is seasonal. I've frequented this location for almost 15 years, try their seasonal donuts and different coffee blends regularly, and spread the word about Sidecar whenever I can. Probably my favorite donut shop in OC. I am a huge fan of this shop and every donut I have had is great. All their flavors are solid and they are always innovating with new flavors seasonally.
