    Passionfruit Passion Fruit Pavlova, Choc-A-Lot

The summer seasonal doughnuts are back, some favs are definitely the passionfruit pavlova! The balance and freshness of this passionfruit doughnut is incredible! Tastes similar to freshly made sweet bread filled with custard/cream. Service is always friendly and quick, along with great vibes all around. Def recommend trying all the new summer seasonal offerings!

When I'm in Newport Beach or Costa Mesa, I always make a quick stop at Sidecar Doughnuts. Butter and Salt is our top favorite. In season is the Buttermilk Strawberry Doughnut, used fresh strawberries and cake like dough.

Friendly and welcoming staff, clean establishment. Some donut samples are offered and they will cut another flavor if you ask. Free donuts on your Bday month (we live that). They are a bit pricey as far as donuts go, however, most of the donuts are large so it feels like a better value. Free parking, good size coffee selections and they sell swag.

The donuts here are cool, fun, and unique flavors! but it is definitely on the pricey side. I paid ~$45 for a dozen. My experience with premium donuts have been poor, but these one still reminisce a classic donut texture and flavor which I appreciate greatly. The banana bread latte was more of just a straight banana flavor, but it was good if you're into that sorta stuff. Overall, it's a small shop with standing room only and outdoor seating. The staff are attentive and helped/managed a large group of 15-20 people easily. They also give free samples to try!

I ordered online the huckleberry donut and mango sticky rice donut. Quick service and it was ready in no time. I would highly recommend the hucklberry donut, the dough itself was delightful and not dry at all, it had a really great base flavor and the frosting itself added a great taste. Mango sticky rice was just whatever, it was bland and underwhelming, definitely stick to the basics. I would comeback again to try their other flavors. Just very pricy...

I'm not a huge doughnut connoisseur, but try to stop in to Sidecar when I'm in town, 2 or 3 times a year. Always very fresh and delicious. Essentially, if I'm going to eat a doughnut, it must be pretty spectacular and Sidecar never misses. Coffee drinks are very good. Limited outside only seating.

Whenever I'm down in the area and I have time, I always try to stop by Sidecar Doughnuts. Their donuts are consistently delicious, and I love that they keep their classic favorites while also doing fun things--new flavors, seasonal specials, and plenty of creative collaborations. My two favorites are definitely the Celebration Cake and the Saigon Cinnamon. You also can't go wrong with the Huckleberry or the Butter & Salt donut. It's hard to pick a "best" because the quality is just always there, but those are the ones I find myself craving again and again. The staff is friendly every time, and parking is usually pretty easy. I also really appreciate that you can now order ahead and pick up, which makes it so much easier for me since I live kind of far away in North Orange County. If I think about it ahead of time and I know I'm going to be in the area, I'll absolutely place an order before I head over. I always look forward to the seasonal donuts and the collabs, and if you're in the area, I'd definitely recommend checking them out. Their coffee is also delicious, so if you're a coffee lover, you should definitely check it out too. I also heard they've expanded to Santa Monica--so even more opportunities to get your donut fix!

I haven't been to Sidecar in years and this visit left me wondering why it took so long to come back. It was a bit pricey but I guess everything else is too, especially in OC. The samples of the chocolate and strawberry donuts were good, although I was not a fan of the strawberry, so I went with an old fashion glaze and a mocha. Nothing disappointed but I do wish they had a maple option without bacon or salt, just a fluffy maple like I had so many years ago. This is a small storefront with great customer service. There's a couple small tables outside to enjoy your donuts there, but most get it to-go. That's this critic's review, until next time, I'll be eating.

Blueberry cheesecake donut and cold brew
    Zarifa A.

I'm a sucker for a good donut and Sidecar never disappoints! These a higher end donuts that have a more cake like consistency than your average donut. During my last visit, my husband and I shared the salted butter and blueberry cheesecake donuts, which were both amazing. We also ordered a cold brew, which complemented the donuts nicely. One thing to note is that prices here are steep--the two donuts and a coffee ended up being close to $20. Service here is friendly! It is a tiny shop that is more of a grab and go spot, but there a few seats in the front to enjoy your sweet treat if your inclined to have it there. Overall, I'd recommend checking out Sidecar if you haven't already!

Really good! I've been here many times but I realized I've never reviewed this place. Of all times I've been here, it's no question a 5 star. The donuts were really fresh and hot when we got them. My wife loves the butter and salt one and it's absolutely perfect! The saltiness balances out with the richness and sweetness. I also ordered the golden hour grey, which was the seasonal flavor, and it was really unique. It was citrusy and light. Sidecar is definitely in it's own league and its tough to find other donuts to really compete with them. The store was pretty small with very limited seating at this location so it's more of a grab and go type of location. It's not too far from the beach though. Service was really efficient. Even if there was a line, it goes by quite quickly. It's worth it anyways!

Sidecar never ever misses and they have me hooked with their seasonal flavors. They have the best donuts, and I'm not even a donut person. I specifically LOVE their cake donuts. I could go on and on about them... seriously. This time we had to come try their collab with Cake Picnic, which was the golden hour grey donut. Let me tell you, it was bomb.com. The orange flavor was phenomenal and I have no notes. We also got the strawberry donut and hot chocolate with almond milk, both obviously very good as well. It was my first time getting the hot chocolate and I was honestly surprised with how yummy it was. It was not too chocolatey and not too milky. It was the perfect balance and the perfect pairing with the donuts.

    Norma D.

First time at this donut shop and what a surprise. They have a very broad menu of item, from sweet to savory. Had to do a sampler so had the maple bacon donut, birthday sugar cake, butter & salt and the basil eggs Benedict. Everything was so good. My favorite was the Basil Egg Benedict. It was super busy on the weekends but worth the wait. Parking is tough but moves pretty quickly.

If you ever get a donut craving this is the place to visit! I got the Old Fashion and the blueberry cheesecake. Both donuts were flavorful, moist, and the epitome of what a donut should be. My husband wants me to mention that the icing on the blueberry cheesecake was "chefs kiss". The coffee was unfortunately not as impressive, but I'll let it slide haha. Service was fast. I wasn't able to go inside, but my husband says the store is nice, clean, and modern. DOWNLOAD THE APP TO GET A FREE DONUT AND DRINK WITH PURCHASE! Expect to see us more often!

Despite being relatively close to two major colleges - OCC and UCI - this place wasn't as crowded as you'd imagine it would be. They serve coffee, matcha, breakfast foods like breakfast burritos, protein bowls, avocado toasts - but I didn't pick anything to eat since I already had lunch. I shared with the barista that it was my first time here, and he asked what type of drink I was looking for. I told him something iced and caffeinated - and he mentioned his favorite was the Honey Cinnamon Latte - which I opted for - iced, with oat milk. Total was $8.50 including tip. My iced Honey Cinnamon Latte was yummy, creamy, and fantastic! With the oat milk substitute, it sorta tasted like Cinnamon Toast Crunch in liquid coffee form. It wasn't overly sweet, definitely had a nice kick to it - love this recommendation by the barista! I checked out the rest of the space and used their restroom to wash my hands - it's really a neat space here. Lots of seating. Lots of space. I'm curious to try their matcha the next time I'm here, as well as possibly their breakfast burritos, since photos for that looks delicious.

The drinks were great and I didn't have to wait on them too long. I got a shakerato and a matcha latte and they were both good. You also get a little discount if you're walking, biking, or boarding to the shop and getting something. The only negative I have to say is that I think a cycling club stages from here on the weekend so the parking lot does get busy inside and out. Overall, I'd recommend this place and will return again.

This year specifically, I've noticed a couple of things that have made my experience go severely downhill. I've visited about five times, expecting to grab my favorite toast of theirs that I've had for years (Pan Con Tomate) and they have been out consistently back to back of that item. I've literally tried 3 separate times and been told they simply ran out of tomatoes. If it's that inconsistent, I'd hope they'd take it off their menu and post it as a special. But what bothers me the most is that the service is so nonchalant that it comes off as rude. No greeting, smile, positive energy.. giving off a vibe that they'd rather be anywhere else than behind the coffee bar. Sad to see the experience decline as it's been a favorite of mine and somewhere i always have hyped up to friends. Hopefully things pick up.

L&L is located in a huge industrial complex with tons of parking (not sure how it is during weekdays though when the other businesses are open). The coffee shop is HUGE with plenty of seating and from the looks of it- lots of regulars hanging out and enjoying their sip. Walk in and fall in line to select your coffee of choice. You can scan their QR code of items - just wish prices were posted too. L&L roasts their beans and after just one sip, you can taste the difference! I had a vanilla latte while hubby had their toffee latte. As it turns out they make their own toffee syrup which is amazing!!! They also have a great selection of foods- burritos, avo toast, quiche, a variety of bagels and a nice assortment of scones, muffins and croissants. We shared a chorizo burrito filled with potato, egg, cheese, chorizo then toasted. It came with 2 different sauces - and cool and creamy cilantro and a smokey mocajete. This too was delicious and we were so glad to have ordered this. Staff were super friendly, welcoming and very helpful. All good vibes here! Look forward to returning!!!

I love love love their matcha and actually get my at-home espresso beans here. They are perfectly roasted and the espresso comes out smooth. I also have had their avocado toast. It is so good but I never finish it haha because it is big. Totally worth to try. They have large tables which are perfect to host coworking sessions or just to come and work. I think I've only had like a small instance where the internet got a little slow but other than that this is a pleasant spot to visit. You can also rent a study/conference room from the church. I sent a message before because I needed a spot to do my final oral exam virtually. There is a small fee but unfortunately no one got back to me. There is a QR code that takes you to a site where you fill out a form to request the space. Now, these requests are handled specifically by the church not the coffee spot. Although it is in the same area. The staff is super friendly. The restrooms are always clean. Handicap friendly. Not necessarily kid friendly because a lot of people come here to study and work, and its also all concrete and hazards for the small ones, but I have seen people do like babies on strollers type of gathering.
