Overall: 8.5/10 As someone who's not a fan of donuts, I actually really enjoy Sidecar! Bf LOVES donuts and he LOVES Sidecar (so much so that he would be willing to drive distances for it!). Sidecar just opened recently but he's been here a few times already. This was my first time going to this location, but we've been to a few locations in LA and SD before. Parking is TERRIBLE. We arrived around 5:10PM on a Friday, which means no street parking on the main street so only parking lot or side street parking. We drove for about 25 minutes in circles, through the parking lot, around the block, into other parking lots, before finally just deciding to sit and wait for someone to leave in the Sidecar lot. We were worried they would run out of donuts since they closed at 6PM. We got into the store around 5:35PM, which was actually perfect timing because they had just cranked out a fresh batch of some donuts. Bf and I got four donuts (about $19 for four): 1) Strawberry rose donut (seasonal): 9/10. Not super super sweet, warm, and so soft. Even as a not-donut-fan, this was so good. 2) Vanilla glaze donut: 8.5/10 for me. A tad bit sweet for me but sooooo good when warm. So soft again. 3) Choc-a-lot: 9/10. The least sweet of the bunch surprisingly, like a dark chocolate. This wasn't fresh/warm but was still really good. If it were fresh, I think this would be my perfect donut (I LOVE chocolate!!!). 4) Huckleberry: I didn't taste this but Bf said it was good, not his favorite. Overall, I see Sidecar as a solid donut place as someone who's not a fan of donuts. However, I would not go unless dropping someone off or during the off-hours on weekdays. I don't really eat doughnuts that often, but Sidecar left a pretty positive experience for me. While the doughnuts may not necessarily be fresh out the fryer, there's still a very satisfying bite to it where there's a good mix of denseness, yet airiness to it that makes it feel only slightly heavy. The dough itself is seasoned with the right amount of salt to balance out the sweetness from the various glazes of each doughnut. Across the multitude of doughnuts, most of them were pretty well balanced with barely any of them coming off as too sweet. Happy to have a Sidecar on this side! I typically don't crave doughnuts, but this place is one of the few exceptions! Their concoctions are more on the cakier side, and all of their flavors are solid, my favorite being their signature butter and salt. I'm also a big fan of the app and the little birthday coupon which definitely made me come back the last couple of times! Sometimes they are a bit slow, even though I can see they're well staffed in the mornings. Service is usually friendly and their coffees are alright. I had stumbled across the soft opening of Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee here in Pasadena. They opened in the same plaza as Howlin Rays and I happend to be there to buy lunch. So I waited to see what the crowd and the line that was forming was all about. And then after a short wait, right at noon, they opened up. They had a few of their flavors available and it was very exciting to see some of my old favorites here. I've gone to other locations which are a lot further away soI'm really glad that they are in town now I was able to get the huckleberry, the butter and salt, lemon poundcake, and a Saigon cinnamon crumb. They were also doing a promotion so I was able to take advantage of that which was a pleasant surprise overall. It was great to experience something so unexpectedly. Parking here is going to be a mess since it is already tough generally. There should be some street parking too if you're lucky. The donuts are great here. It's worth a try if you're in the area and haven't had any of them before. They're typically made in smaller batches so they're constantly making and coming out with fresh donuts. The team here was really nice and they explained that everything that is out is what is available for now. So what you see is what you get. I can't wait until they have everything available. Sidecar Doughnuts serves delicious, old fashioned cake doughnuts. These doughnuts are heavy and rich. 1 is enough to keep you full for a few hours! Personally, I'm not a huge fan of their current flavors, such as the rose. But I know they will have seasonal options and that this is a trendy flavor at the moment. The Saigon Cinnamon was much more to my taste! We definitely ordered too many when we went. While the doughnuts stored okay, the frosting melted into more of a sugar syrup. Still tasty, but not as good as they would've been fresh. This location shares a parking lot with the extremely popular Howlin' Rays. While the businesses are probably busiest at different times, it can still making parking hectic. We went early on a Sunday while folks are in church and had no trouble finding parking. There wasn't even a line! Inside of the shop is stressful. They take your order at the end of the doughnut counter, so you don't even get a chance to check out all the flavors. On top of that, there is bar style seating parallel to the register, making the space very cramped. I think the seating inside was a mistake, the seating outside is more than enough. Love this place! So happy we don't have to trek over to the west side for probably the best donuts in LA! There is usually a line but we got extremely lucky that day during their soft opening and was able to wait inside while devouring the samples they were handing out. Butter and salt, huckleberry and Saigon cinnamon crumb are our usuals, but honestly you have to try them all because they are just that good. Enjoy them hot but they keep well! We've been back numerous times and finally got to try their malasada and WOW! That day they were serving the banana pie malasada and the filling was great but the dough was awesome! First of all I was so excited that a Sidecar opened in Pasadena, because I would always go to the one in Costa Mesa. The day when I went I was disappointed at the selection. They are suppose to have fresh donuts every hour. I waited for them to make a gluten free donut for my son. Bought a glaze and huckleberry. I have been wanting to visit Sidecar since I moved back to the L.A. area, but it was a little to far. This location in Pasadena is much closer to me. I had very high expectations going into this visit. I stopped in on a Sunday morning around 10:30am. This seemed to be right before a big rush. When I arrived there were only 4 patrons in front of me. The staff were moving very efficiently and even had random samples at the counter while you waited. The person that took my order was very friendly and answered any questions about the varieties they offered. I ended up getting the Siagon Cinnamon Crumble, Huckleberry, Lemon Pound Cake and Vanilla glazed. SPOILER: All of them were DELICIOUS!! Cinnamon Crumble: An elevated homage to the classic crumb doughnut. The flavors were much more elevated and it had some really unique floral notes. It is clear that they are using this highest quality ingredients. Huckleberry: I must say, this was the one that surprised me the most. It packed huge flavor while also being very well balanced. Very strong berry flavor with hints of citrus and floral notes, but not overly sweet. Lemon Pound Cake: This is one of my favorite all time desserts, so I was actually apprehensive to try this one. I ended up randomly picking this flavor up as as a sample and was instantly hooked! The punch of lemony citrus and the perfectly dense cake doughnut are such a compliment. Vanilla Glaze: This one was selected by chance. One of the things that I love about this place is they were constantly making fresh doughnuts. This could mean that you will have to wait 10 minutes or so for your favorite flavor. But it also gives you the opportunity to have a fresh warm doughnut! This is what happened to me. The whole store tells, "Hot Vanilla Bean!", when the doughnuts arrived on the line. This was a great choice and was a definite highlight of my experience. This was an elevated take on the classic and simple raised glazed doughnut; perfectly executed. Overall, this was a very positive experience. The common theme for me was how well balanced all of the doughnuts were. As someone who isn't a fan of overly sweet things, it was refreshing to have a great doughnut with more elevated and complex flavors. As I mentioned before, the use of high quality ingredients is very evident in their product. Also, because it seems that they produce in smaller batches you may not immediately have access to a particular flavor, especially if you're in a rush. A flavor I wanted to try was not available for 10 minutes; I used it as an opportunity to come back and try it on my next visit. The only negatives are the cost, about $4.75 per doughnut, and the tight space. I'll end this review on a positive, the outdoor patio space is great. I highly recommend! read more

The facility is open and we can see the whole process to making doughnuts which was very cool. They had samples, the service was great... the best doughnuts- blueberry anything... the chocolate as well. The Dubai was aesthetically delicious but the filling needed more sweetness... I know that's odd to ask for more sweetness in a doughnut... but its flavor was not quite as satisfying. Either way we will be back to try more! An afternoon of doughnuts and coffee. Might as well indulge here at Sidecar! Small batches made to make sure they are serving the freshest :) and that they do! Doughnuts are like cake. When served warm the senseless is soft and crispy on the outside. IMO best to eat it then ASAP. They're good for another day but the cake gets denser when cooled but the outer edge is still crispy'esque. I do love fruited desserts and that means doughnuts too. Huckleberry is a front runner for me unless another fruit comes from nowhere and topples huckleberry. Strawberry is more like cake flavored vs fruited. The chocolate doughnuts are tasty but not my personal fave. The coffee I really enjoy. I get their house coffee with oat milk. Worth the stop for the coffee and I guess the doughnuts too LOL! Service is efficient but can get hectic when it's very busy. Parking can be a challenge since it's a small lot shared with Howlin Rays (that's a clue for you with finding parking). Super friendly staff and a good variety of donuts. I'm especially happy that this place sells SAVORY donuts (I got an eggs Benedict one and the seasonal jalapeño one). I unexpectedly discovered this Sidecar location in Pasadena after my visit to Howlin Ray's next door. What a pleasant surprise that they're right next to each other! As I was enjoying my hot wings at Howlin Ray's, I put an online order for donuts at Sidecar. The process was quick and smooth. I really enjoyed -Vanilla Bean Glazed: One of my favorites at Sidecar. The inside dough doesn't feel as heavy as the other donuts. It's much more fluffy. It's definitely underrated IMO. -Strawberry Buttermilk: SO good! I love the fresh strawberries inside the donut and the glaze on top. We also ordered Butter & Salt, and Heckleberry but they weren't our favorites. We were waiting in a very long line at Howlin Ray's when I looked across the way and saw Sidecar Doughnuts. We ordered the vanilla bean glaze, gluten friendly, and celebration cake. My daughter also had the banana bread latte. Everything was so good! The gluten friendly is, by far, the best gluten free pastry we've ever had. I usually love Sidecar Doughnuts but my review is particularly low for one of the employees working yesterday (1/11/26) at around noon. He was the only male on the staff and he was just extremely rude. I came for the Summer Fridays collab and asked about the freebies being given away. He mentioned all they had was just one of the mini samples left, but his demeanor was not at all customer service friendly. I had asked about the collab and then mentioned wanting one of the doughnuts, he immediately goes "is that all?" and my husband, who very clearly was still looking at the doughnuts adds a latte to our order, then the employee quickly goes "is that all?" again, and I say "no we want to order more". Like he didn't even give us a second to breathe and list our entire order. Every ONE thing I added, he would add "is that all?" it was ABRASIVE and super rude. It left such a bad taste in my mouth. The doughnuts are good but not THAT good. I would not go back to this location if he's the person running the counter. He totally needs to learn customer service, or at least just how to talk to people normally. read more

This place is SO cute! Very spacious, decor was so cute, and it was very clean. The staff was super nice and reminded us of the rewards program (where you can get a free doughnut and a free drink with their rewards app).
