I must say, I came here feeling sick because of my migraine but I left happy. Not only do they have great pho but also the whole aura of the place is great. The servers are genuinely happy, which is rare for restaurants. Yes they are pricey, almost double the price of a regular pho, but I assure you, it's worth it. First, the broth, it's so restorative and comforting, you can taste the beef was simmering for hoursssss - it's rich (Southern I'd say). If you are the type who adds soy sauce, fish sauce, etc into the broth, I promise you, this would not require you to add anything else...maybe lemon if you want to kick up that taste. The amount of noodles you get is, IMO, doubled compared to other places and the best part, it was cooked to perfection. The meats?? Say no more, they are so tender, it almost melts when you eat them. The tendon is crunchy and gelatinous - chewy - it melts in your mouth. The tripe is tender and clean! Special shout out to Andy Diep for being a superstar. We eat here frequently. However this last time we went I swear that the portion was smaller. I usually order a large size pho and can barely finish it and this time around i finished everything. It appears that they are making the previous smaller bowel the new " large" bowl. Also my pho barely had any protein in it. For $23 this is not worth it. Employees tend to ignore specifications and not read the special instructions, tend to give you what they want, not what you paid & specifically asked for! Is it multiple times when ordering to go... Ordered sliced beef pho, bun bo, seafood salad, garlic noodle, side steam veggies and spring rolls. With tip it was just over $100 and we got a LOT of food. Everything seemed very fresh. We got plenty of eating utensils. They even give soup spoons! The side order of veggies is HUGE, I will probably season it since it didn't come with seasoning. The garlic noodles were good and a few a little burnt but it gave it a little more flavor. Okay if you live in the Bay and eat Vietnamese food like it is life, we know the best is in San Jose BUT if you need a fix and not interested in an hour of traffic, this is THE place. The food was flavorful and as close to authentic as you can get without it coming out spicy. Everyone is not built for that but for the rest of us there is chili paste, oil and Sriracha. I have a grill pork Bun (rice noodle) bowl and it was legit. My Wife had Bun Bo Hue which is Pho's spicy cousin and makes them look bad. I'm not hating on Pho. But have some Bun Bo Hue and tell me how you feel after The restaurant is decorated well and service was amazing but the star of the show was the dairy free Thai iced tea made with coconut cream. Not family friendly. My family and I came here for Sunday lunch and they offered us a communal table. I asked if we can wait a little longer for our own table as I have a toddler and a stroller with us. There were 2 tables opened. They said no b/c those tables are for "bigger parties" (4 people). Came here for a mid-day lunch with a friend. I saw a small parking lot in between the Jack in the Box and shop, but at best six cars could fit so street parking is the obvious choice. We arrived when the restaurant reopened at 4:00 but it appeared they were short on staff because several tables were still messy and needed cleaning. We were seated immediately, I was brought water that had a citrus taste as we reviewed the menu. We attempted to order refreshments but were told the shop was out of carbonated water so we settled for the fresh squeezed limeade. Though it had visible sprigs of mint and lime wedges it was overly sweet to me. For food we started with fresh shrimp spring rolls. The flavor was decent but I thought the casing was a bit chewy. And the vermicelli bowl with grilled chicken as the main. The flavors co-mingled well but we both agreed the protein portions were very small. There was a lot of seating inside and outside. We ordered the fresh spring rolls, regular sliced ribeye beef pho and the grilled pork vermicelli bowl. I love Sidestreet Pho. My colleague and I came here, randomly, one cold winter day and decided to get their M1 - Bun Bo Hue. It was pre-pandemic, so I don't remember all the details. Me, being clumsy, ordered the Bun Bo Hue with Pho-style Rice noodles, and remembered that the noodles did a great job at absorbing the flavors. The smaller option was sufficiently filling, that the broth and flavors were intense but well balanced. I wanted to try some other items before drafting my Yelp Review. I made a mental note of coming here again. Well... I forgot the name of the restaurant during that expansion and contraction that is the beginning of COVID. Fast forward to Early 2022. Masks were lifted, re-instated, and lifted again. Obviously, the restaurant industry and public facing employees were hit hard. As of our visit, in early February 2022, Sidestreet Pho made the executive decision to protect its employees by limiting seating to outdoors. You order by the front door (where the host stand is), pay for you order, and they bring it out to you. They do, however, give you bowls and plates, although you still can use disposal utensils if you're health conscious. I ended up getting the P1 - Pho Dac Biet, but in a large. Silly me. This ended up being way too big for me (despite me being a 6 ft' 200+ lb [emphasis on the +... darn COVID weight] fellah). Both my colleague and I agreed that you can taste the 36-hour bone marrow broth. It was deep and full of flavor. It set a new bar for what I deem fantastic pho. Sidestreet was also generous with the other items - beef slices, brisket, tendon, etc. My colleague, being the generous and baller he is, also ended up ordering the K6 - Crispy Calamari. It was perfectly fried, thinly battered, and served in a delicious garlic butter sauce. Although I was a bit too full to enjoy it, towards the end, it was a great compliment to the food. You'll be especially shocked to see how oily it is if you do take out or take home leftovers. It's disgusting. Pork chop rice plate was not tender at all. I ordered my usual chicken pho but didn't like the broth and to me the broth has to be perfect. The broth had a tangy taste to it and I do not like lemon so this just made me not like it. Sticking with the theme of cold weather dishes, I went over to Alameda to try this pho place that's been on my radar. I ordered the beef pho with extra meat and my friend ordered the bún bò huế. Despite there being only a few other folks in the restaurant, it took over 25 minutes to get our order. Maybe they had a bunch of online orders coming through? We ate outside which is a nice option as we had a little mischievous puppy with us. They turned on the outdoor heat lamp which made a big difference. Each table has Sriracha and you'll get nice herb extras with your pho. I'm crazy about adding a million limes and jalapeños, so that was a nice touch. The brother flavor was good! It was a chilly day in Berkeley so my friends and I were really craving some kind of noodle soup. We hadn't found a good pho place near Berkeley yet, but we found Sidestreet Pho on Yelp so we decided to give it a shot. I wasn't too hungry so I ordered a pork banh mi. I really wanted to try the Pho or shaking beef but was concerned for two reasons: I wasn't starving and I wasn't sure if I would like it the next day and both were a bit pricy.
