If you want a shortened version of this review: Orecchiette. Five stars. That's all. We made a reservation around 6pm on a weekday. When we got there, there were a ton of open seats; towards 8pm every table was filled. Patio seating only. Our server joked around with us and was personable. "Did you enjoy the Orecchiette, so glad you decided on it, it's my favorite, too!" He wasn't stiff and he knew the cocktail menu without looking. The cocktails are refreshing! They are all so different, one for every tastebud, ask your server for recommendations! The Orechiette. If you like sausage, creamy, savory, rich pasta; order this. No joke. It's so yummy that you'll make the day an automatic cheat day. I'll be back for this!! I recommend going early to avoid crowds, making a reservation, and best of all, enjoy!!! Service: 10/10 I believe our server was named Kendall and she was incredible. She was attentive, but not overbearing and kept a perfect balance of conversation. Ambiance: 9/10 Beautiful interior and the design of the bar was extremely appealing for patrons. Only reason for a point off is the area by the host stand was crowded, making it difficult for the hostesses to do their job. Ideally more space for people waiting for their reservation would be available. Food: 8/10 I have to say the rigatoni was slightly underwhelming. With that being said, the wagyu beef was cooked perfectly, the sauce was paired well, all and all was a very enjoyable antipasti. The grilled octopus stood out, possibly the best I have ever had, and I frequently order octopus. I included a picture of the wagyu beef meatball and the rigatoni. Cocktails: 9/10 (I add this category on my own because I love a good cocktail.) The frozen Italian spritz was a nice twist on a spritz and was a very refreshing summertime cocktail. My dining experience was amazing from the cocktails all the way down to the dessert. Jorge waited on my party of 6 and he was super attentive as we were celebrating my friend's birthday. He made dining outdoors during COVID especially pleasant. It's been a long time since I've been out for dinner and every, single person LOVED their food. We literally were planning for our return to Siena Tavern before we even paid for our meal! I had the broiled salmon which was cooked to perfection - a slight crispiness on the outside, but each bite melted in my mouth. I also got to try the prime rib that my friends got and the meat was so juicy and tender, they used their butter knives to cut their meat - They never even used the steak knives that were brought out (that's what I'll be ordering next time)! The food was good. Expensive but it is downtown Chicago. We sat outdoors and it was really nice eating outside with all the downtown activity and the lights/city views. The red wine the waiter recommended was lovely but it was $16 for probably 20 milliliters of wine, barely anything in the glass. My pasta dish was extremely expensive considering there was no meat or seafood in it. Just the plain pasta with sauce and cheese shavings. The sauce was very good but for no protein I feel like it was a bit overcharged. The people with me at my table had good dishes though so I would recommend trying this place. read more

We used to go to this place regularly. It's been a few months but back today for lunch. Very disappointed. The server was nice but service took a very long time and it was not crowded. In addition, the music was so loud we could not have a conversation. We asked several times to have it turned down and were finally told the owner likes it loud. The food was not as good as it used to be. My very expensive meatball was dry and had no sauce. Weird. Keep in mind, I live in a small town, but this was one of the better meals I've had in a while. My wife and I were staying around the corner and opted for easy rather than getting on the red line. Glad we did. The service was good and the ambiance was fantastic. We shared a meatball and it was fantastic. The sauce and the ricotta were good compliments to the tasty meatball. We ate all of the toast that came with it trying to consume as much of the sauce as possible. I had the braised short rib. It was really good comfort food. It was tender and tasty. The risotto was really good. When I have the leftovers I'm going to want more of its creamy goodness. The Demi glacé and the onion finished it off well. My wife chose the gnocchi and loved it. We traded a few bites and agreed with her. The pasta was tender and the truffle cream sauce made you pause and smile with each bite. We would love to return and try different dishes but would have a hard time not eating the short rib or the gnocchi. Maybe we'll work in the Coccoli. read more

I've been to Siena for dinner a few times but this was my 1st visit for brunch. I ordered the lobster hash. It was good but was served lukewarm. I came with a group of 7 ladies so thinking maybe it sat for awhile. I probably wouldn't order it again because it's not a very filling dish in my opinion and it should be for $22. I'm giving it 4 stars anyway bc despite this visit, I have always enjoyed my meals here. The squid ink linguini is simply delicious. Highly recommend it. Also, the service is wonderful. First time eating Siena Tavern food period, and probably will be the last time. Delivery - paper bag, plastic container and pizza box were NOT sealed in anyway. Given the current environment, I would have expected a little more care Truffle mushroom pizza with added spinach - quite salty for pizza, and the dough was very chewy and dry (in a bad way) Squid ink pasta with lobster - pasta noodles were overcooked to almost soggy texture, which caused the pasta and sauce to form a big lump in the container. Lobster was grilled and tasted okay but a little over cooked. The sauce was not very flavorful. I much prefer the version at Volare or Piccolo Sogno over this one. I asked for Parmesan cheese and red chili flakes on the side but never received it. read more

Absolutely love this place, this has been my 3rd time returning because it's just that good. The burnt pepperoni pizza is to die for, and of course all the pastas. I got the cacio è Pepe and asked for blackened salmon as my protein, salmon was a bit on the smaller side for the price but cooked to perfection. We have had nothing but excellent service every time, shout out to our server Jacob (we've had him as our server twice now) he was super attentive to our needs and all around a nice guy. We have been here multiple times pre covid and after... outside seating is definitely a little on the cold side even with the heaters and coats on. Another thing to keep in mind is to make reservations with enough time or even a day before. It was hard to get something just for 2 people. For the steak lovers you cannot go wrong with the 22 oz bone in prime rib. Comes in its skillet as well!! The presentation is beautiful as well. The pizza is also great as they are a little on the thin crust/healthy side. But plenty of options. Service is good, but can be better as there is not many tables and people to attend to. I got a meal kit last night and it was a lot of fun! We ordered a sausage pizza kit with red wine. The wine bottle is their house wine, but its pretty good and just elevates the experience. We receives all the ingredients individually packages and the dough was ready to be worked with. The instructions were easy to follow and the pizza came together quickly. The flavor was really good, I would definitely order their sausage pizza again. My only two complaints are that they forgot the basil for the pizza (not a big deal, but it's part of it), and the dough took significantly longer to cook than stated in the instructions. I rolled it out to 11 inches, maybe I should've made it thinner? Anyways, I'd definitely go for their pizza again. read more

A few things to know about before you go to Sienna Taven it is very noisy with that music that just goes BOOM,BOOM!! All night never stops no conversation at all because you can't hear the person sitting next to.. food none or very little Of it came three bites of pasta about two ounces. Not even enough to be considered a good plate filler had to stop at subway to eat. They use a jarred garlic you can taste that it's not fresh and a little rancid tasting. We just got to Chicago and needed a quick lunch. This was around the corner from our hotel. When you walk in you get a really nice vibe. It's very nicely decorated with a welcoming bar area. The bar has a ton light steaming in from the Windows. Nice view of the harry Caray's building. We only ordered drinks (the 312 green line beer was really nice) and a couple of apps. The bruschetta is not cheap at $18 but it's really a different take on an old standby. It had the usual tomato's on old crusty bread but it had some sort of cream cheese that took it up a notch. The Burrata was our second choice and it also was full of flavor with a very nice fresh burrata, a jam that went perfectly with it and some olive oil. Went to Siena Tavern for New Year's Eve and it was amazing. We ate outside with heaters, it was freezing but the food made it worth it! We got the special nye tasting menu for $75 for 4 courses and it was amazing. I got the ribeye for my main which was $40 more but I'm glad I got it. The soup was delicious and very warm. The wagyu meatball was incredible and the garlic bread that came with was *chefs kiss*. The tortellaci was so savoury and the flavor was so unique. The steak was as good as it looks. We popped into Siena Tavern for a quick lunch on their cute outdoor patio. We had amazing food and wonderful service! I had the gnocchi which was to die for- the gnocchi were perfectly cooked and had the most delicious cream based sauce, and my partner had a burger because that's what he was craving, and he was thrilled with it. If I could leave a 0-star rating, I would. My group and I arrived at Siena Tavern on NYE for our 10:00pm dinner reservation. The restaurant was running extremely behind. We waited 10 minutes just to check in, at which point the hostess flippantly mentioned they're running a bit behind. When I asked for an estimate, she said 30-45 minutes. We moved to the bar area, and proceeded to wait over an hour. When we checked in with the hostess at the 45-minute mark, she said we were third in line. We did not get seated until 11:10pm. Once seated, we waited another 15-20 minutes to be greeted by the waiter. We placed our order and waited 20-30 minutes for the first and second course - served almost simultaneously. After that, the intermission course was skipped and we were given the third course around 12:30-12:45am. We needed to flag our waiter down at that point and request to-go boxes as our parking was expiring at 1:00am. This was by far one of the worse dining experiences I've had. Each guest spent $100+, and none of us enjoyed our meal. read more

If we are talking strictly food- 10/10. Best squid ink pasta I have EVER had and I have had it many places. First of all- they give you a whole juicy lobster tail that they already peeled for. I loved how it still had the bit of a fishy flavor without being overwhelming. Their decision to simply use lobster as the protein instead of overloading it with mussels, shrimp, clam, etc really elevates it & allows you to enjoy the meal and it's flavors without feeling like ur eating fish stew (maybe I've had a bad experience or two lol). Amazing appetizers. I definitely recommend the coccoli- I loved the sweet and savory combo. The wagyu meatballs tasted like normal (good quality) meatballs & the burrata was pretty standard. The gnocchi dish melts in your mouth & the sauce is perfect. Everyone enjoyed their dish! The actual ambiance of where we sat (high tops near the bar) wasn't my favorite, felt very casual compared to the insane plating and flavors. Didn't take too much away from the meal but I'm big into dining as an experience so I'm being picky! Service was quick & got us what we wanted effortlessly. Next time I come back I would request to sit away from the bar area but other than that I wouldn't change a thing. Plus the wine list is not your average - they seem to carefully select reasonably priced Italian Coastal wines that pair well with their main meals. I will say when it comes to Italian food, I am extra fussy because I grew up on the real deal homemade from scratch Italian but Sienna Tavern has this Savory Holy Heaven 12oz (no, that's not a typo) Wagu Meatball ($19) that's worth all the indulgence! It's considered an appetizer but if not shared, it can easily become your only dish! Go ahead, you deserve it!! Also while it's not a "Chicago style pizza" contender, it's a lovely light doughy crust with pretty much any topping you could desire and not too cheesy. Pretty much can't go wrong and the kitchen serves pizza til midnight y'all! The bartenders and waitstaff are the epitome of Midwestern Hospitality and have clearly consumed if not all, definitely most of the menu so you can count on their recommendations if you are unsure. Know that no matter when you go, it's likely to be buzzing with River North's young professionals and a smattering of tourists sent over by wise hotel concierges. Good chance you will have to wait a bit to be seated. Having said that, on a nice sunny day, brunch on the patio is super chill vibe but feels disconnected from the energy inside... however a seat at the bar near the pizza oven is actually my preference because it puts you in a great spot for watching all the scrumptious dishes being prepped to tease your tastebuds! My reviews are all about the ENTIRE experience. Only downside is sitting at either bar (they have two) equates to thirsty patrons hovering over your food like vultures (I like my personal space bubble when I'm eating lol) and possibly stealing your bread baskets or taking an elbow as they attempt to hail down bar service! No joke! Scram kids. This is the 3rd time this has happened to me here. At least the bread is free right?
