I knew I wanted a naked wedding cake and when we met with Teal for our tasting, we were amazed by how delicious the cupcakes were and the fun options we had for the flavors. We decided to go with a cake and cupcakes for the big day, and they were all a hit! This place is GENUINELY OUT OF POCKET. And what I mean by that is it is so good that it's insane. Everything here tastes so fresh you'd think they made it just for you. The breakfast burritos are fantastic. The chocolate covered croissant is the best I've ever had and if you give it zap in the microwave it becomes even more legendary. And I truly can't say enough about the flourless chocolate torte. it's out of this world and being it has no flour it keeps forever so you can just keep munching on it. I would recommend driving here from anywhere just to try it if you've been questioning the decision. read more

Soup was wonderful on a rainy day--minestrone and red pepper soup. Hours are perfect. At least they are open. Restaurants in the area close for the winter, but don't post that on Yelp. Teal (the owner of Sierra Rizing Bakery) caterer not only all the food and desserts for my bridal shower, but she also made all the desserts for my wedding (a cake, lemon bars, flower less chocolate cake, and cookies) AND she catered a brunch for the day after my wedding. She was so easy to communicate with. She had great ideas when it came to decorating our cake and what desserts to provide as well as how many we would need with the amount of people we had. All the food was AMAZING. I'm still hearing from our guests how great all the sweet treats were and how much they loved the breakfast burritos and coffee we provided for the day after the wedding. 10/10 would recommend this bakery, even if it's just to stop in for a pastry and a cup of coffee! read more

Reading the other reviews I must have been at a different bakery but I double-checked and, yes, I did eat there. You only need to take a look at my "Angus Roast Beef" sandwich to see why I wouldn't eat here again. I mean, it's luncheon meat, folks! And cheese. And nothing else. On a tiny square of panini bread. My vegetarian friend got a grilled cheese, their only veggie option, and it was on the same, tiny bread. However, for an additional $.50 she got a "spread" of flavor and for another $.50 she got a piece of spinach (their so-called greens). They charge $.50 to use a credit card, which they never mentioned, and you pay extra to "upgrade" from Lay's Potato Chips to a different brand. Super, super disappointed. read more

The Gold Trail School's 8th grade class of 1973 recently celebrated their 50th anniversary since graduation. Sierra Rizing provided a wonderful lasagna dinner for the group that included two kinds of lasagna, a huge green salad, watermelon and other fresh seasonal fruit, and bread with yummy flavored butter. This bakery/cafe is such a cute little hole in the wall that I'm so glad I stumbled upon. I recently got married on March 12th, 2022 and Teal took care of our wedding cake start to finish. She was accommodating right from the beginning, we live pretty far from Lotus and were making a decent trip to come cake taste at her shop. Teal set aside time during closing hours to allow for us to doing our tasting which was above and beyond our expectations. She baked fresh cakes for us to try and the flavors were so delicious! There were a variety of flavors to choose from as well as options of fillings. The cake was a hit at my wedding! I got so many compliments on the presentation and the flavor of the cake. Teal created cupcakes and a small cake for our wedding in Pilot Hill. We are out-of-towners and could only meet with her one time prior to the wedding date, and it was during the busy christmas season. Not only did Teal take the time to sit down with us and discuss our plans, but she put our minds at ease. We had to put a lot of faith in her, given that we didn't even have a chance to taste the cake or cupcakes before our wedding day. Teal and her team came through big time, the cupcakes were delicious, we had two flavors, pumpkin spice and citrus poppyseed. Our cake was vanilla with fresh raspberries. We couldn't have been happier with the outcome. Teal was right on time with delivering our order, she placed everything on our custom-made cake stand and decorated with fresh flowers that we got from our florist. Sierra Rizing catered a delicious birthday dinner for 18 at our home. It was effortless for us and we received many compliments on the food. The Puff Pastry with bacon and the Stuffed Mushroom appetizers were especially great! There were wonderful choices in all the categories and we settled on the wonderful Glazed Pork Loin as the main. The scalloped potatoes were also a big hit! Teal made it so easy and smooth, it was like magic. AND we had leftovers, all neatly package and placed in the frig, which we got to enjoy twice more! What a sweet little spot! All the pastries and food were amazing! We had a hand pie, frittata, and cookies, all of which were delicious! Chai tea was awesome, spicy and not too sweet. Everything is homemade and you can tell they put a lot of love and care into the food. It felt so cozy inside and they have a really nice little dog-friendly patio outside for sitting with beautiful views of the hills. They have homemade dog treats/biscuits too, which my dog loved. It's a perfect location for a snack before or after hiking in the area, with lots of trails nearby. My husband and I got married down the road in Placerville and we wanted a local bakery for our cake. Wedding cake gets a bad rap for being dry but the cake Teal made was absolutely delicious! The cake was fluffy and and the filling flavor was exactly what we were hoping for. Between the design and the flavor, we could not have been happier. Went their Saturday and Sunday morning for coffee and pastries. The Banana bread chocolate chip muffin and chocolate croissant were spectacular. 911 and white mocha coffees were solid as well. We didn't try any hot items, but they smelled good and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. They close at 2 p.m. which is a real bummer. This is my second year in working with this restaurant for lunch sandwiches for school groups. Teal, the manager/owner, is excellent...not only in communication but also in her attention to detail. The sandwiches were done on time; exactly as ordered; and, delicious. Her bakery-made croissants are superb! The sandwich "inners" were fantastic and much more than the normal amount from the chain sandwich shops. I have sampled several bakery items as well...no surprise...all were delicious and reasonably priced. Growing up as a 3rd generation bakery child, I can testify that Sierra Rizing is a great bakery...reminds me of my German bakery heritage-that said in a very, very positive mode. I recently moved back up here from the bay area with my family. We'd prefer to go to locally-run places and this place was recommended for their coffee and pastries, so we were eager to give it a try. The atmosphere was all right and the iced chai I ordered was good, the pastries weren't great and the bread was crazy expensive. The worst problem was the service. The girl who helped us seemed like we were just a huge inconvenience to her and didn't seem to know which way was up. The entire time she had this massively rude attitude with us, and forgot what she had already rung up and blamed my mom for it. "Well you guys just kept ordering things so I don't know what these were," and proceeded to be massively confused. Oh man, I'm sorry we kept ordering things and supported this business! I know, we're just awful people. I really hope they don't treat everyone that way, but I know I won't be coming back here. I was absolutely appalled at her attitude. Say what you will about Starbucks, but their employees are always extremely nice and willing to suggest drinks and don't mind having to walk eight feet. This summer brought a new dining patio and an expanded menu, including more lunch options There are no "fakery "items here; this place is owned by a trained pastry chef who uses top shelf ingredients. She also makes gorgeous wedding cakes. The shop is stuffed with couches and offers free WiFi, which makes it the ultimate hangout spot for locals and the area's whitewater river guides looking for downtime on their days off. This is a seasonal town. There aren't a lot of places to get breakfast in the area and I count on it for a superb cuppa joe and a friendly face no matter what time of year.
