I took my Ford Excursion in for a front end shake, after doing a thorough inspection, Robert (the owner), came out to double check. after going through several checks he found a crack in one of the lift brackets that other shops had missed. They disassembled the lift kit, Robert welded it up, reinstalled everything and did a new front end alignment. I don't trust this place. I had my car towed by AAA to this shop after the guy said it's not a battery issue. I asked the guy to give me a total of the costs before starting repairs, they sent me a quote of the diagnostic and the price of a new starter . They texted that the total cost was $947.00. so I went and approved the repair. the next morning they texted again saying that my engine is leaking oil that flowed to the starter which caused the starter to be faulty . I thought when the did the DIAGNOSTIC, that included everything that was wrong with the vehicle . Now they're adding more costs to fix the leak . Isn't when they said diagnostic they will tell customers from the very beginning what's wrong with the car and not ADD more costs to the original quote they gave ? I did not appreciate that they'll tell you one thing and give you another reason to charge you for another ? I'm not going back here. these guys are unprofessional and doesn't know how to communicate to the customers by surprising them that you need to get this done and another and another . The family at SVP is professional and top notch. I took my lifted SUV in for a front end alignment. I had it into several other shops previously and no one could fix the pull I was getting in the front end. Robert and his team went through all the basics, however that did not fix my problem. Robert wasn't going to give up that easy. After almost an hour of climbing all around my truck he found a crack in part of the front end lift kit, no one else found it. He and his team disassembled my front suspension, welded the broken mount and put the truck back together the way it was supposed to be! Total rip off. Charged me $215 to clean my engine. I think they just took a blow dryer and blew off the debris from the top. There's still plenty of leaves and other debris lower down. I had my engine cleaned 5 years ago and it looked like a brand new engine. No dirt or grease or debris. Sparkling. And it was only $75. I know prices have gone up in 5 years, but Silicon Valley Performance did a crappy job and charged way more. I'll never go there again and do NOT recommend them. read more

SVP saved my life - or at least they could have! I was traveling through the area near the end of the day with about 3 hours left to go when I smelled something off. I called them and not only did they answer, but they were willing to squeeze in looking at my truck with 20 minutes left in their workday. Turns out my caliper was shot and I was a stroke of bad luck from my 10,000 pound rig fishtailing on me. If I hadn't been able to get in touch with a mechanic I would have been driving to Sequoia National Park like that! Instead I got a one day delay while they ordered parts and I'm back on the road. The only place I have had my truck serviced during the past several years. I Just took it in several days ago because I had a loss of power and asked them to check it with their computer, just pull the code and then discuss remedies. When I called after several days, I was told that they had two of their "best mechanics" working on a diagnosis, for two hours . . . that is 2 X 2 shop hours at the hourly shop-rate. Ouch. I asked them to STOP. I went to pick it up, it was a dirty air cleaner. They charged me a nominal fee for the diagnosis, which was fair. Then, when I got it home, I went to change the air cleaner myself, and found many bolts, retainers, fastners, missing, things were loose (e.g. the upper wiring harness, the coolant reservior, etc.) The truck had been serviced several times, with charges up to $7,000, and always at Silicon Valley Performance. I would love to recommend this shop, I prefer the smaller, locally owned shops, but after reading other reviews, and after being told that two technicians had worked for two hours . . . . SVP seems more interested in the $$$$ than in the service. I do not have any problem paying for service rendered, but this interaction seemed to me to be an attempt to inflate the work actually done on my truck. read more

Friendly and accommodating folks at SVP, however: - After my first service, just a regular oil change, I notice the low oil pressure light going off. After getting home on that same day, the oil filler cap was not installed and found it in a random corner of the engine compartment. Missing installing this oil cap can happen but I was not impressed by their service diligence. - a few months later I return to SVP and after they inspected my vehicle, they recommended replacing the transmission pan seal and I went with it. Two days later I notice a huge puddle of transmission fluid oil on my driveway! After inspecting what was going on, I notice a continuous leak coming from the transmission pan and the transmission fluid level was super low (as indicated by the dip stick) - I never noticed a single drop of transmission fluid before the seal replacement. Now my vehicle was stuck at home since driving it would be very risky. After messaging them about the issue they recommended going to the nearest Napa center to fix the issue (???) - they never offered to try to fix the issue themselves. I ended up buying the transmission pan seal and transmission fluid and performed the replacement myself. Attaching the pictures of what I found after removing the transmission pan and before installing my purchased seal - SVP did a horrible job at applying the neoprene seal and silicone compound - the seal already had a tear. They never even discussed the possibility of reimbursing for this very poor service, so I ended up spending way too much money and time to resolve this simple problem. After these two incidents, I am never setting foot on that shop again. read more

I brought my car in for regular maintenance as I've been doing since I've owned cars. It used to be BTN but ownership changed to Silicon Valley Performance (on Leghorn in Mountain View) and the last of the previous staff is now gone they said except for one guy who is the new owner. The paperwork to sign had a cost increase on the top page from $79 to now about $125 - fine. I didn't pay much attention because I'd trust these guys with my first born. Turns out that was just for replacing windshield wipers! They wanted to charge me about $360 for an oil change and wipers. Earlier I received a call that the car was done and everything was good. Then I get another call...there's much wrong with the car. My tires are worn and there's a nail in it so I need four new tires because the law says tires over 5 years can't have a nail repair done. (My tires are not 5 years old, are in perfect shape except for the metal fence tie that was now in my tire. And there's no such law.) He also said my battery failed and sent me a diagram of a failed test instead of a photo of the failure and said it needed to be replaced. My battery is new-ish, fine, and right on top of it shows it's still under warranty. The crew there always used to go over my cars meticulously such as cleaning the battery connection. That wasn't done. My new windshield wipers are great. And I got my tire fixed elsewhere. read more

I brought my vehicle to this shop with two concerns: I neede an alignment, and wanted to pass smog (specifically wanting a check for exhaust leaks). While doing an assessment they wanted to put in a new transmission pan gasket. After about a week and about 1500$ they let me know that my vehicle was ready. As I pulled out of the lot down the street that they parked my truck at, it sputtered, puttered, and had a lout whine in reverse. at my first stop it pulled hard to the side while braking. When I got home I found that my exhaust downpipe was missing 2/3 nuts. I put new ones on, went to get it smogged, and it failed. I brought my truck back after replacing some essential emmissions sensors to make sure it would pass smog, and to fix the things that were wrong after my previous visit. They spent another week and another 700$ doing random unnecessary tests. They also reasessed my alignment and made my steering wheel crooked in the opposite direction from the previous alignment (still very off), redid my transmission (which they charged me for and still whines in reverse), and the engine still runs rougher than it ever did before taking it to them. When I got home to assess what was wrong with my truck I had my horn button fall off into my lap, I noticed that my distributor cap was hanging on by a thread, coolant had sprayed across my engine bay, and various other items in my engine bay were damaged. I spoke to the shop, and they blamed me for broken things that I know were not broken befofe I took my truck in. I called them, and after a conversation with 'Bob' they refused to talk to me further, and told me to contact the Bureau of Automotive Repair. Real good con game they run. I'm out over 2 grand and my truck is much worse than its first visit here. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere where they have skill, integrity, and reasonable rates. read more

I was a very satisfied customer of BTN Auto for almost 20 years. After moving out of the area briefly during the pandemic, I moved back to find BTN had closed but many of my trusted mechanics had moved to Silicon Valley Performance. I'm grateful to still be able to get honest and exemplary service but now with some modern and convenient upgrades. I appreciated being able to see and sign the invoice online and then receiving pictures of the work done via text and to be able to pay online. It can be expensive, but I know the mechanics are being paid fair wages and I receive excellent and honest service for my car. read more

This place does not have good customer service attitude, Plus 20%+ more expensive than neighborhood auto shops, I had the real break light fixed at ~$2500, they spent a lot of time to do diagnostics, to tix the problem straight should cost less than $500. read more

Robert is a fantastic mechanic. I brought in my 2011 Ford Raptor that was making a loud whine coming from the rear end. I took Robert out for a test ride to evaluate the noise. He determined that the noise was coming from the Rear differential and immediately recommended that he open up the differential case and assess what the issues were. Sure enough the problem was the main pinion bearing which was completely worn out. Facing what I thought would be a very expensive fix Robert assured me that he would rebuild the entire differential assembly and quoted a price that was substantially better than others that I had quoted. In less than a few days I picked up my truck with the rebuilt differential. Pleased to say that the truck is running in top shape with no more noises coming from the read end. I COULD NOT be more pleased with Robert and Silicon Valley Performance and HIGHLY recommend them for any automotive repair work. From now on all of my vehicles will be going to Robert! read more
