I was not thrilled with my food from Silli Kori. I decided to order my Thai food here after reading the glowing reviews. The food arrived early and was piping hot. Thats where the good ended. The Pad Thai, had almost no peanuts and came with no lime. There was an oil flavor prevalent that tasted like over used oil that was not fresh. The dish didn't have any of the usual goodness of Pad Thai. My eggplant dish with beef was even more disappointing. The dish had that same bad oil flavor, and hardly any eggplant, which is supposed to be what the dish is about. The beef was ok once I got past the first two pieces which were grisly. We ordered the lettuce wraps as an appetizer, the pan seared salmon, and the son in law eggs. The salmon was a huge portion, flavored and cooked perfectly, and overall one of the best salmon dishes I have ever had at a restaurant. The son in law eggs were seasoned perfectly- the perfect balance between sweet, salty, and spicy. The eggs added a nice richness to the overall dish. And again, a huge portion for the the price. I lived in Bangkok for 7 months and I can honestly say, Silli Kori knows what they're doing. Their Thai curry is the BOMB.com. Their pad see ew is the closest I could find to Bangkok quality, it's simply delicious. All their food is quite tasty; however, I can say that compared to Thailand, they need to add a little more sauce to the noodles. Other than that though, food is spot on. The bad sides are the prices compared to Thailand itself. A pad see ew over there is just $2.00 compared Silli Kori's $11.00 :( But that's okay! If it tastes good, why not? I invited a group of my international students here for a farewell party, one hot summer day last month. I had been a couple times myself and loved it! The food was so yummy, as expected, but the restaurant smells like sewage, and that was disturbing. As if the smell wasn't bad enough, the AC was not working, so we were all sweating in a small, stinky restaurant making the most of it, but I felt embarrassed and staff didn't seem concerned one bit about our experience. Reading the comments, I feel like I'm doing something wrong. I've gotten takeout from here twice. I got a curry both times - Thai Red Curry and Penang. Usually this is my favorite part of a meal but I honestly found them bland and a little boring. My girlfriend didn't like them very much either, and she likes her food to be a little plainer. Tried the Tom Yum as well, and found that to be okay. I'm a little disappointed given the hype on Yelp, but maybe I'll give it another shot with a totally different set of dishes. read more

It was exactly what the doctor ordered, food ready within 20 minutes, under $25 for two entrees and a side, really good authentic tastes, truly no complaints. I got the chicken pad Thai as well as the chicken fried rice and two egg rolls. Ended up not even finishing the pad Thai (between two people). I come here often, and am so lucky to have the best pad Thai in Chicago (and I've tried a few) basically right around the corner. Really flavorful and well balanced, with fresh ingredients. Everything here is beautifully plated, too. The wine list is unexpected, with some intriguing offerings, including a delicious beaujolais on my last visit. Staff is super friendly. Even on an evening several months ago when the bartender was clearly having a bad day, he was still very attentive and helpful. And on Valentine's Day this year, they included a rose at each table (we didn't make reservations, but we showed up late in the evening, so there was space) and a complimentary little heart-shaped custard dessert. The atmosphere is delightful, cool and kinda romantic and usually candlelit, with a lot of interesting details, including the amazing hand-carved doors that let you know you've stumbled upon someplace secretive and special. Adding to the secretive feel is that it's right on the strip in Wicker Park, on Division right next to the bright sign for InnJoy, but you'd hardly know this place is here. Good food, chill vibe. Ambiance: Dimmed lighting with moderately loud music ranging from rap to R&B (when we were there at least). Chill atmosphere, nothing too fancy to get dressed up for. Food: Crispy rolls, pad thai and green curry pasta. Crispy Rolls: Great starter! Basically delicious chicken egg rolls. Perfect for sharing. Chicken Pad Thai: Not your traditional Pad Thai in that the egg isn't mixed in with the dish. The noodles were also a thinner kind than the traditional flat rice noodles you see in most Pad Thai. It was almost like a spaghetti Pad Thai. Nonetheless it was still good to us. Green Curry Pasta: This was pretty spicy to me. I could eat a couple of vegetables and a scallop and my mouth was burning. I'd ask for it to be milder because the veggies in this dish were cooked to perfection. The green curry was super flavorful as well. I almost always get dessert at every restaurant we go to. I was hoping for something traditional like mango and sticky rice, but they only had carrot cake and cheesecake. I was super bummed about that. As far as drinks go, the Bangkok Mule and the Gruner Veltliner (solomon undhof-white wine) were good. Both very refreshing and light to go well with noodles (which can have a tendency to get heavy). Three drinks, two entrees and an app cost us about $28 pp with tip. Service: Was alright, a bit slow, but otherwise no complaints. Definitely worth checking out! So I was coming here last week to meet my wife and a friend after work to celebrate a little something. As I entered, there was a server who asked me how many people were there in my party and I politely said thank you so much but I am meeting friends here. No acknowledgement of my statement and she just walked off. I was looking for my wife and friend. I went all the way to the back and the same server just ignored me. I ended up calling my wife and she said they went next door. Fast forward; my wife and friend told me how they were literally mistreated by the server (I am assuming it's the same server as they said she was an Asian and had a light color Tshirt) and the bar tender. I find it's important to write this review even though this information is coming from my wife and friend but it's important enough to be yelped. When the two entered the restaurant, it wasn't too busy. There were 3 to 4 tables filled. As time went on, they decided to order some cocktails. A lot of the cocktails come with simple syrup. My wife politely asked the bar tender if he could either replace it with something else or just not put any at all. To that the bar tender rudely responded something like this, "Well what do you want then? Do you know how much sugar root beer has?" Mr. Bartender. a. Check in your attitude at the door when you walk in. Not having a great day? Customers don't care. You have no right to take it out on customers. b. How did the root beer even come into the picture? If we wanted a lesson on how much sugar is there in drinks, we don't need you. We can easily google that. Soon, the full restaurant became filled and all the tables were occupied. People that came after my wife and friend were taken care of with drinks and their food was already on the table. Not once did the server come along to ask these two ladies if they were ready to order or if they would like to order something. The food that was coming out for the other guests seemed very good and the reviews too were awesome but as customers, being deliberately ignored is not something any restaurant should be doing. The ladies just asked for the check for the poorly made drinks and told the server of how they were made to feel and bluntly but politely told her how she was rude and just ignored them. The server's response with a fake smirk on her face was "Oh I'm so sorry." Very surprised you guys have positive reviews. We took our $500+ business elsewhere for the night which you lost but maybe you don't care about it because you probably get thousands of dollars of business each night. However, you definitely lost a potential customer who would spend thousands of dollars at your location had you treated them right and will most certainly discourage others from coming to your location to be treated like trash. We started out with the Egg roll (comes with 2) appetizer which had chicken in them and tasted crispy and good, I don't use the sauce it comes with but my husband really enjoyed the sauce that accompanied the order. I ordered the pad se ewe noodles with chicken and had it made *medium spicy. I really like how you can choose your 'heat' per each entree, my husband is a maniac and he order his *Very Spicy (Chili w/ Beef). He enjoyed the heat that they brought and it was just to his liking. We were very excited to eat here after reading all the reviews. We walked in and right away we got the cold shoulder no one greeted us we had to ask if we could just sit anywhere. Our waitress was just horrible we asked for the wine menu and she just walked away. She returned a few minutes later with the menu and almost threw it at me that when I went to catch it I spilled a little water she gave me the dirtiest looks and sucked her lips. There's also a lovely patio for outside dining. They have great lunch specials, which are full sized entree portions with choice of appetizer. The chicken pad thai is good, but more on plain and greasy side. Included were 3 crab rangoons generously stuffed with filling and a total indulgence. My husband and I went here based on the reviews and we were blown away by how good the food was! It is honestly the best Thai food we've ever had, and we eat Thai food a lot. What a find! I'm truly surprised this place is not as packed as its neighbors on Division St always seem to be. They've got some clever, sophisticated takes on standard Thai dishes without being too fancy. The Massaman curry I tried was almost like a deconstructed roast with thick cuts of potato, onion and carrot. The broth was fragrant and delicious and the topping of crunchy fried shallots was and excellent addition. My only knock was that my cut of the chuck was pretty fatty.
