There was a wet floor sign out, which is fine, but the floor was not only wet but disgustingly dirty so the water was filthy and in the middle of a main area where customers would have to walk, see, and smell this mess. Boneless chicken and waffles were fresh with a homemade taste. Honey chili sauce was to die for. The waffle was perfectly fluffy! The bison huevos rancheros were spicy and fresh and with so many layers of flavor. Could not have had a better combination of eggs, peppers, avocado, and crunchy tortilla. We have eaten here several times but this time would be memory that will never be forgotten. I had the LumberJack Breakfast and my wife had the Avocado Toast. Food seemed to be okay until my wife pulled a nail out her mouth after taking a bite out of her Avocado toast. The length of the nail was about the size of your pinky finger and about an 1/8 of inch in diameter. Fortunately the nail was not digested. We brought it to our waiters attention and asked to speak to the manager immediately. Once the black female manager came over to our table we told her what the issue was with the Avocado Toast. The manager's response was, oh my god! I don't know how that got in there.... She said she would let her cook know and left our table without asking if my wife would like something else or remove her plate. A few minutes later she returned and then said, do you want us to remake your meal? At this point we were pretty much done and ready to go so she said, okay I'll remove the Avocado toast from your check sorry about that... Then turned to our waitress and said im taking her meal off the check and gave us 10% off the remaining amount of the check which was about $2 off. I can tell you the way the manager handle the situation was pretty pathetic! Taking her meal off the check was by far the obvious thing to do, but adding a 10% discount to the check for the nail that she came close to swallowing was more of an insult. I really like silver diner. Ive been to the one in Merrifield, Clarendon, and even potomac mills. But this location was the worst. I got blueberry pancakes. But you can tell they dont have separate batter for it because the actual batter didnt have that blue tint. It was literally their regular pancakes that they placed a few blueberries on top. My gf got eggs benedict. You generally expect poached eggs. She got a nice over medium egg. Was very odd. Prob wont be back here. read more

Omg this place was horrible. I truly know now how it feels to be turned into cattle and moved along through a restaurant, conveyor belt style. It was just two of us, so we were sat at a particular section that was nothing but a row of 2 person tables. The main wall was one long bench, for one person..then the other side was the chairs for everyone else. The tables were pushed together way too close. People walking in have to turn sideways and shimmy to get through, knocking stuff over on the nearby table because it was that jam packed. The staff here needs to learn the value of silence. EI: I don't need to hear about what your doing after work, How Mark is doing, how waitress A is barking orders at busboy A over 6 tables ( I love being yelled at). My waitress was very lacking at her job. If she wasn't new, then she was just terrible. When we asked for coffee to start with, she then made a point to tell us she didn't know where to get sweetener/sugar so she directed us to just take it off of the table right next to us. Albeit this worked for maybe 10 minutes, but then another couple was sat at that adjacent table and its just super weird and awkward to have to grab supplies off of some other dinners table. How about next time you go into the back and conjure up some sweetener/sugar/ cream, whatever. I ordered the Thai Turkey Burger, it was very unappetizing. Flavor of the burger was rather off putting and the Thai slaw that came on top of it was really nauseating. After finding seats at the diner bar because the line wasn't moving so fast. Tanya was our server she didn't seem to thrilled to be at work maybe it was a bad day. After her reprinting credit card receipts because she threw one out she decided to finally great us and then walk away for 10 min which have been less annoying if she wasn't in eyesight. After ordering our food and beverage she then seemed annoyed I asked for a modification for my food and rolled her eyes as she went to talk to the expo. After reminding her about the beverage that she forgot and didn't acknowledge just threw the tick in the trash and went to the computer. while waiting Ewing invaded my personal bubble (creeping at the bar) while I was taking notes for this review to ask every manager if they talked to rosemary so he could wear his nats ws to work which was awkward and not appropriate for the front door convo I felt bad for expo (Paula) she works very hard on that line but she was not getting people to help run even though our server was drinking juice out of Ramikons at the micros. I have been eating at and loving Silver Diner since I moved to DC a few years ago. Having moved out of DC recently, it is one of the places I miss the most! The food is always delicious, hot and farm fresh. The service is always quick and friendly and even when there is a line out the door (and there usually is) it moves quickly and every staff member there works hard to ensure that the customers are comfortable, taken care of, and move through the line quickly. My favorites here are the burgers and of course, the breakfast. Love the basic "Pancakes and Eggs" breakfast - so fresh and the BEST pancakes ever. Their coffee is also really delicious! We wanted breakfast and mimosas, but nothing too fancy. Luckily, Silver Diner is right down the street. I've always thought it was on the good end of diners, from my days in Annapolis, but boyfriend hadn't been before and I hadn't been in AGES. At about 1030 on a Saturday morning, it was crowded but not packed, so were seated right away. We ordered mimosas, in which they put strawberry and peach along with the classic OJ and champagne. It was REALLY GOOD, especially since it was only $5. He focused right away on two things: the pronouncements of local ingredients that are now all over the place, which made him happy, and the jukebox on the table, which made him REALLY happy :) I ordered the bison and chorizo huevos rancheros, which just looked too good to pass up - a bison and chorizo hash, two eggs over easy on top, goat cheese, and what they called chunky avocado but was actually more like guac minus spices. He decided he didn't really want breakfast, and ordered a chicken cheesesteak, no may, add mushrooms. Our food came out about as quickly as you'd expect from a diner, and his special order parts were right, but they'd put in a regular cheesesteak instead of chicken. He decided that was OK by him, and clearly he enjoyed it because he ate the whole thing :) Mine was as good as it sounded like it was going to be, and I was pleasantly surprised that it was not as big as it looked on the menu, so I didn't feel quite so gross when I finished the plate. I was happy to see that Silver Diner still has it. The ingredients are obviously higher quality than you'd get at your standard diner, and while there is plenty of the standard diner fare, its obvious that they've taken the time to think through the menu and create interesting sides (like the vegan slaw that came with his sandwich that he said was awesome) and creative entrees. Oh, and healthy options too. And booze. And the diner atmosphere lives on, from the classic decor to the tabletop jukeboxes and the counter service. I am not that into the healthy eating phenomenon with free range, antibiotic free, locally sourced, kale and quinoa, etc. Especially for breakfast when I want real eggs and lots of cheese or a stuffed French toast. However silver diner does all of the above. They shame you a bit with that amazing menu into getting something healthy but they have plenty of other options too. Occasionally the healthy stuff is a bit mediocre like the southwestern type options even with buffalo meat seemed to be lacking in flavor. And the home fries were ok but needed more fat or flavor too. The smoothies are great, the kids menu is great, plus lots of interesting options. The French Toast coated in coconut was great, the egg-based choices were interesting and tasty. The service was good and quick and kept the busy line moving. read more

I have been dining at this location for over 15 years and now and felt it was beneficial to now let people know about this location. My experience with my waitress (Rachel S.) went very well. My family and I visited this establishment on Saturday. Rachel had a smile from beginning to end and while returning to our table multiple times. Rachel had visited my table multiple times ensuring we had everything that we needed and were happy. I had visited this establishment before however the waiters that we had were not as friendly and ensured many times our needs for the visit. The food was very good, what made the food and visit much better was the friendliness of Rachel S. In addition, for those who are worried about the current COVID situation, the Silver Diner has a tent outside in the parking lot which is pretty nice. Not to mention that this establishment has ensured to keep customers safe by implementing safety precautions such as HEPA cleaning tools/techniques which cleans the restaurant after hours. For those who are not familiar, the Silver Diner utilities the same safety measures that hospitals use. This should ultimately make you feel safer knowing that there is a restaurant that takes safety of it's customers so serious they implement top of the line cleaning measures. read more

My husband and I are big fans of this place. We love this place so much that when visitors come into town, we usually take them here for brunch. Some visitors have even asked for repeat visits. :) I did have one negative experience where I found a broken piece of a plate or bowl in my food, but they made up for it with a free dessert and a gift card to apply to the meal. With me giving this place 5 stars, I think it's pretty obvious how my love for the food quickly helped me overlook that one experience. The service and food are consistently good. I am a fan of their ingredients. My favorite appetizer is the goat cheese bruschetta, and if you're looking for something light, I highly suggest the yogurt parfait (a la carte). read more

I had the burger on gluten free bun, which you wouldn't know it was gluten free if they didn't tell you and a side of breakfast potatoes. I wish they could offer a wider selections of waffles but they are very accommodating with switching sides without extra charge. Saw lots of bad reviews and almost didn't go since I needed reasonably quick service for breakfast on a Monday. It was close to our hotel and I had eaten there multiple times years ago. But I really wanted diner breakfast food so we took a chance. Food was better than I remembered. Diner fare, but the eggs tasted fresher than usual, the pancakes were tender, the biscuit was tasty. Bacon was way too thin, but overall a good meal at a fair price. Service was not quick, but good enough, probably because it wasn't busy. I've been here numerous times and the food has always been great. However, I'm writing this review in regards to their service. My friends and I went to Silver Diner a few Sundays ago and my girlfriend ordered a chicken pot pie. We were told that they didn't have the biscuits for the pie and asked if she wanted to wait or just get mashed potatoes instead. She said she would wait until the biscuits were ready. Our waiter and the manager, Yao, were extremely polite and accommodating. At the end of the meal, the manager surprises our table and gives the two people who ordered chicken pot pie a free meal for a future visit. Talk about customer service-!!! My friends and I always go to Silver Diner because the food is great but that pretty much sealed the deal for us being loyal customers. Went to Silver Diner for the first time in months today since I needed to get a quick bite of food with my son prior to his lacrosse game. Neither of us wanted fast food, so this was a decent compromise. Walking in I notice there is now a wine display in the lobby and then a white board announcing their seasonal menu supporting the local agriculture......ooooooooooookkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.....this is a little surreal but I'm hungry and cranky, so whatevs. Despite the line we were in we were sat quickly. Our server was nice. In perusing the menu, I notice that their food has changed significantly towards healthier items. This is good. However, with this shift has come a huge price increase. We ended up getting a burger/fries/peppermint milkshake (for him) and a grilled chicken burger with teriyaki sauce and american cheese/sweet potato fries/ice tea for me. The total for this - $29. Exqueeze me? Yep. $33 with tip for sub par food that I can cook at home for a fraction of the cost. Hell, you can go to other burger joints in the area and get the same items for cheaper. I dined at The Silver Diner with a party of 5 adults and 1 child for brunch on a Monday morning. Although the demand is high the line moves quickly. The hosts and waitstaff were on the ball and very efficient while still being friendly and personable. The menu selection is limited but caters to a variety of dietary needs. There are many diet friendly and gluten free options that sound so delicious I would be willing to try them! My 7yr old nephew ordered the waffle and I had a scramble that was eggs, potatoes, sausage gravy and home fries with a side of bacon, fruit and silver dollar pancakes. The coffee was hot, smooth and refilled frequently. My nephew was very impressed with our server and was delighted when he was given a balloon before we left because our server noticed his good table manners. I decided to go here with a good friend at an odd time of 3:00 PM. It was my first time going here, and I don't have much to base off of on the food since we only ordered Cheese Fries and Buffalo Wings as "snacks". The service was awesome, our waitress was very bubbly and flamboyant, she definitely made me want to come back just for the service. Honestly, I was a little disappointed with the food. It took a pretty long while to come out. I was expecting the cheese on the fries to be hot and melting (but found the opposite, it was dry and stuck to the fries), but the whole dish was very cool and not warm at all as if they left it out too long before giving it to us. The sauce that came with the cheese fries had a film of water on top which was gross.. The buffalo wings were alright, didn't stand out to me. Came here a couple times with my husband and brother-in-law for dinner and breakfast. The service is friendly, fast and efficient. And can definitely agree that it's probably the best of the few late night places in Springfield. Shakes are decent, apple pie is pretty good, have yet to try the chocolate cake. First time we came was with a Living Social Deal, and the second time we bought holiday gift cards - $25 for $20 with a $5 gift certificate, sure, we're gifting ourselves but it makes it well worth it. The price range isn't terrible, though dinner is a little more pricey than breakfast it's in the same range as Delia's. And I definitely enjoyed breakfast here more than Delia's! (this could be though because there are more vegetarian and pescatarian options on the menu. If coming for breakfast come as early as possible, when we left the line was out the door. read more

Like, I was expecting and would have been fine with an ihop type of situation, but the Silver genuinely impressed me. Everything tasted fresh and made to order, the pancakes were fluffy and delightful. But the Bision Juevos Rancheros ... just stupid good. It's a giant meal and I ate every last bite. Ground bison chorizo topped with avocado, goat cheese, fried eggs, and served with lightly toasted, warm, crispy but just a little chewy tortilla on the side. Just dumb good and fresh. This would be an easy dish to over promise and an easy one to botch, but the joint held its own and it reflected on the bill! LOL.
