This place used to be a pinnacle Chinese restaurant here in the Medford area. I always took all my friends here. I use to absolutely love this place. In the last 5 years the quality has deteriorated to the point that I don't think I'll be eating here again. The lunch special is no longer a special it's merely a dollars less than the dinner. And I understand that the cost of everything has increased. But the quality of the food has changed for the worst. I ordered The mar far chicken and it tastes of old oil. The pork chow mein no longer has chunks of pork inside of it instead they took a piece of the barbecue pork and shredded it on top. The crunchy noodles that they put underneath the pork chow mein was stale . It's heartbreaking to see this happen to this place. Please bring back all the original recipes! I was visiting medford and looked up chinese food. I didn't have very high hopes at first. I came in after 9:30pm and was told that they were only doing take out so decided to order to go. I ordered walnut shrimp, mixed vegetables, fried rice, chow fun, lettuce wrap, mongolian beef and something else (forgot). The food was surprisingly good. When we called the restaurant to tell them they got the order wrong they basically blamed it on us and would not refund. Suggested we don't know what orange chicken is! I'm thinking excuse me?!? Lemon chicken and orange chicken are very very different. The girl told me they don't sell lemon chicken as of three weeks ago?! Well I'm telling you their sauce is lemon sauce without a doubt. Crap! That is the only word to describe this bland, strange take on Chinese food. The fried rice has no flavor, the chow mein is a weird mix of bean sprouts, onions with a white sauce poured over dried noodles. The soup and sweet and sour chicken was OK, but in the history of eating Chinese food this is the first time that we had tons of left overs and opted to leave them there. Horrible experience. While eating dinner my daughter found 3 pieces of hair in her food. The waitress went to the kitchen and found the staff was not wearing their hair nets. She did comp the dish, mine as well as we had the same item. However, for the price the food is poor quality Obviously sanitation is not important to the kitchen staff, management and owners of the place. I think Silver Dragon has their formula down. 1) Choose your meat. 2) Batter and Deep Fry it. 3) Choose a sauce. It's alright for Americanized Chinese, but it's extremely greasy and if you stick to even a somewhat healthier diet most of time, it's very likely to make you feel sick afterward. We've tried the fare here three times now and are still searching for someone in Medford who can prepare Chinese food with flavor. That pretty much says it all, but being more specific, the Chow Fun was rubbery and bland and the Stringbean Chicken was also flavorless. We had lunch in Sacramento last week and the food in the small downtown restaurant far surpassed that found at the Silver Dragon...at half the price! Those reviewers who suggest that meals at the Silver Dragon are anything but substandard obviously haven't had any good Chinese for comparison purposes. I was in town fof a few nights and my friend and i decided to order Chinese for delivery. I called Silver Dragon and placed my delivery order. My food arrived and at first i was surprised at the portions are huge. I ordered Beef Chow Fun & my friend had Pork Fried Rice. She took 2 bites and threw it away, complaining how bland the fried Rice was. I tried my Chow Fun and was Bland and had a strange taste to it. There were so many raw onions in my food it was disgusting i proceeded to eat about 1/4 just because i was starving... Now were it gets bad!! Later that evening I got extremely nauseous and very ill. I know that they have recently have changed owners, and things were going ok. I ALWAYS get the same thing when I order there. And I have tasted minor differences in it since the change of hands, nothing bad though. I now live in the Portland area, and every time I come to Medford to visit my parents, I must stop here and get my usual. My last visit I was just surprised and very much put off. I always order the Shrimp Fried Rice without peas or carrots, and again, I have been ordering this dish for 20 years. When our check came, I noticed an extra $3.00 charge. I wondered if they now charge for tea, so I asked the server what that was for. She told me that they changed their policy and charge $3 to remove veggies from seafood dishes!!! They upcharged me an extra 33% to remove 2 tablespoons of peas and carrots?!?!?!?!? WTF?! Seriously, to nickel and dime longstanding customers, or ANY customer, is just so screwed up. If the new owners keep changing what made this place so great for many years, they're gonna lose business. To be honest, I'm probably not going to go there anymore. I absolutely LOVE, LOVE the Silver Dragon. Last night I called ahead to order the "A" dinner for 7, keep this in mind I ordered dinner for 7. When I picked up the meal, it was packed into two cardboard boxes. When I got the food home and started unpacking everything I found we had more than enough food. In fact the meal for 7 ended up feeding 9. There was enough food left over that I split it with my brother in law and cousin. The bro in law taking enough to feed his household of 5 and my cousin took a plate for herself. We still have enough left to feed 3 or 4 people. I figure we had enough food to feed 18 people or a small village. You can't beat the serving size for the price. It's a great value. read more

This is my favorite Chinese food restaurant in town! They have a great and classic variety of food, and the quality and flavor is both excellent and super consistent. They have options for delivery and take out, so it's easy to overdo it! :) On the rare occasion that I eat in, the service is also excellent. If you're looking for super authentic Chinese food, you mighty be disappointed with Silver Dragon, but I think that in no way diminishes the experience I have every time I eat Silver Dragon. read more

We moved from Portland about a year ago and we are always looking for good food period. This place fits in he middle of this desire. This place is comfortable, clean, spacious and well appointed. The service has been pleasant and competent the times I have been. The food is not greasy and is always we'll presented on the plate. We mostly do not eat meat and I would say the vegetarian selection is limited, but they have some options. Although I like this place, my on complaint is that the food does not have enough spice to it. I even ask them to make it spicy because I love spicy food, but even then it is is mild at best. Had large order -- egg rolls, crab puffs, shrimp fried rice, fried shrimp, shrimp and scallop chow mein, lemon fish. Chow mein was mostly noodles. Sauce for lemon fish was oily and not very lemony. Pink sauce was awful. Not much shrimp in fried rice. Much better at some other restaurants.
