Recommendations for restaurant came from some friends. And it was disappointing. The service is limited to their regulars that spend money there on regular and it's obvious, because as a new guest to trying the restaurant there was 0 attention given to bar guests. I will say as someone that is keen on trying new restaurants, I will not be back. I'd rather go to capital grille where they value their customers and establish future customer relations. I knew something was up when my husband and I were raving about the III Forks salad when we were leaving. I mean, you eat at a steak house and the star of the evening was a SALAD?! But really though, that salad is damn good..creamy bleu cheese with the tartness of the granny smith apples and that vinaigrette...I could drink it from a glass, it was so friggin' delicious. Really great happy hour, with delicious apps and inexpensive drinks. I had a poor experience once ( they were very busy) and the owner messaged me immediately. The real treat here is the quiet, dimly lit, laid-back atmosphere, not stuffy which can be the case when fine dining establishments do a happy hour. read more

Went with co-workers and clients after a conference. All I can say is my filet & crabcake was just how I like it...AMAZING. My steak was cooked just how I asked for it and so good I didn't even dare think of using steak sauce. It in no way needed it. The crab cake that came with it was so full of flavor. I don't have words to describe how good it was. I had the III Forks salad to start off and I think it is now my #1 favorite. Our waiter ekpt the wine glasses full and the beer a-flowing. We went here for my friend's rehearsal dinner, so we had a set menu, but it was amazing!! The salmon was some of the best salmon I've ever had (and I usually don't like salmon) and the creamed corn is so good. We started with appetizers - scallops & calamari and also had the III Forks salad, and all of it was pretty good. Just terrible. Mushy lobster tail, hard tomatoes for the mozz tomato salad. Cold lobster bisque and after all that they bring out cold, not warm at all hollandaise sauce. Such a disappointment. I took my Dad here for Father's Day to treat him to a steak and of course my undivided attention. It was my first time going to Silver Fox, however, it was not my Dad's. Our steaks were excellent, no it's not the best steak I've ever had but it was by no means subpar in anyway. The ambience is what a steakhouse ambience should be, dim and quiet. Our service was excellent as well. There is currently a lot of construction going on around the restaurant but it's for the better. University Drive is doing some much needed upgrading and to my knowledge, Silver Fox is in the plans. read more

Cynthia & I have been going to Silver Fox for many years and always enjoyed the experience. Last night we took a close friend for what we anticipated to be a great evening. Not so much! It started when we walked in the door to be greeted by a hostess that should have been in a gentlemen's club; skirt far too short & tight fitting and a blouse that strained the buttons to add emphasis to her chest. Far from the normal. The wait staff seemed to be less than attentive and appeared to want their shift to end. The drinks were great and the wedge salad excellent. Then things changed. It took a very long time for the sea bass to arrive; then it was undercooked and pungent (not normal). The waiter seemed offended but took it back to be cooked more. Another long wait. Back it came; still far from the usual we have enjoyed in the past. Overall, it was a bad experience from the start. It will be a good while before we return to what was once a favorite! read more

My wife and I enjoyed a romantic dinner here recently. We enjoyed a delicious III forks salad, which featured a unique maple vinagarette and perfect blend of Granny Smith apples, candied pecans, and bleu cheese crumbles. For dessert I devoured the best bread pudding I have ever eaten. However, the steak was just average. The tasty seasoning could not quite mask the lesser quality meat. After some medical stuff I finally got my tastebuds back and went to Silver Fox to celebrate with some friends. Wow, they did not disappoint. Easily one of the best steaks ever. Service was as expected....excellent! My filet was cooked to perfection very tender with outstanding flavor. I would really rather give 3.5 stars, as the price was a little high for what it is. In any case I got the filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly; it practically melted in my mouth. The crab cake was pretty good, my wife got the Chilean sea bass and said it was definitely well above average, although she has had better. Overall pretty good food, although again I was surprised at how good the filet mignon was. read more

We treated some friends to dinner on a Friday night as a sort of pay back for a favor. The restaurant is very nice, and the servers were as well. A few problems though... when ordering my steak, the waitress described the resulting steak as being warm and red throughout, but when it arrived at the table there was only a very slim pink strip in the middle. One of the others in our group had the same problem, so we sent both of ours back while the other two at the table ate so their dinner didn't get cold. When they brought back the new plates, they were cooked correctly, but the steaks all around were too tough and very little flavor to be had unless you paid additional amount for special sauces. Over all, we enjoyed our dinner, although I believe it was more due to the company than the food. read more

Great Valentine's Day menu! Just perfect and reasonably priced for a complete deluxe three course meal. I love the updated redesign and decor. More room in the bar, large main dining room, and a couple of smaller dining rooms. It's modern without being overbearing. The manager, Richard W., is constantly on the move but takes time to welcome and check on each guest. I don't think that anything escapes his awareness. We were seated promptly when the last of my party of 5 arrived. However after waiting for 15 minutes and having NOBODY come to the table, I got up and told the hostess that nobody had even said hello. She brought some bread to the table and said that our waiter would be right with us. At 35 minutes after being seated, our waiter arrived without apology to announce he was ready to provide service. I was so upset at this point that I insisted on another wait person as I was in no mood to give this guy a tip of any sort. Our new waitress was slow to take drink orders, then the wine she said they had, was exhausted. They were out of prime rib on a Friday Night which 3 of the party had decided on during the 50 minutes from being seated to orders being taken. The manager came over and said they ran out shortly before we were seated. At this time the manager provided some shrimp appetizers in way of compensation. Food finally arrived at 9:15... this is 50 minutes from being seated, to ordering and another 55 minutes after ordering... yes, 1:45 from being seated. The food was alright. My "medium" Bone-In Filet was rare while the other entree's seem to have been cooked correctly. All party members remarked at how their food was overly salted. The manager again attempted to make sure the party was satisfied by providing some complementary deserts. The manager was really the only positive part of the experience. I attended silver fox this weekend for DFW restaurant week. The options on the menu were pretty basic for the restaurant. There was a wonderful salad to start that I chose from the couple of appetizers. It had apple in it which gave a fresh crunch to it. I had the filet mignon for the main course. I ordered medium rare and received medium well so I had to send it back and got a medium rare one. Unfortunately it was a tad too rare, but I ate it. It was pretty good over all not the best I've had but I enjoyed it. The crab and lobster sauce over it and mashed potatoes made the steak! The dessert was a tx pecan cake I can't review it because I didn't eat it due to me not liking pecans and coconut. The atmosphere of the restaurant is wonderful for a date night or intimate dinner with friends. The service was ok they were nice, but also busy so it was very to the point. There were no shortage of individuals checking on you so that was nice. read more

Went to celebrate my daughters birthday and was not disappointed. Greeted nicely and service was very good. Was looking for a quality steak restaurant and was not disappoint. It is more of a restaurant with steak than a steak restaurant. Very good quality filet perfectly cooked to order. Had house mac and cheese specialty. Very good and cheesey. House specialty salad very good. Dressing perfectly made and lettuces very fresh. Home made deserts. They delivered a very large birthday slice with candle compliments of the house. Excellent Chocolate cake. Decor comfortable line table clothes, comfortable. Gentleman coats but ties optional. It's not Peter Luggers or Mortons but it does serve a good steak. read more

Took my husband here for his birthday. The place has low lights but was a bit noisy. We ordered tenderloin tips and prime rib. I ordered a side of Brussel sprouts that were supposed to be roasted, but were on the crispy, half burned side. Fresh tomatoes and onions were served table side, complementary. Went to your restaurant this weekend with some friends. This was our second choice, The Keg was our first, but they were booked solid. I called and y'all were able to sit a party of 7 in 10 minutes, on a Saturday night at 7:15pm. That's awesome. Upon arrival, we were greeted and our table was ready. That is about where the awesomeness ended. After being seated it took our waitress, Jaycee, 15 minutes to come to our table and greet us. I would be OK with that but she only had a two top and a bar assist...from what I could tell. After greeting us and taking our drink order, it took another 10 minutes to get our drinks, and upon arrival of our drinks, I ordered two appetizers, the Shrimp Cocktail and the Seafood Sampler. 20 minutes pass and we get two loafs of complimentary bread, which were devoured immediately by our party. It took the appetizers another 10 minutes to come to the table. Both appetizers were delicious, full of flavor, a little small for the price but I still enjoyed it non-the-less. IF the establishment was slammed, I could understand, but y'all were not. There were plenty of service in the main dining and there were empty tables and booths. If Jaycee needed help, she could have gotten it. After the appetizers came out, we stated we were ready to submit our order, Jaycee stated she needed to get a pen and paper from the bar to take the order and I felt that I needed to request from her that she return promptly from retrieving the pen and paper and not terry along her way, due to the so far horrible service we were getting. Although requested, it did not help. Jaycee was not seen for about 8 minutes...and we were sitting "at the bar". Fine. After ordering our food, two scotches and 35 minutes later, our food arrived. Now, let me tell you. I am a foodie. I love food. I love steak. I had your 16oz Prime Rib, medium rare. That steak was divine. Cooked perfectly, seasons well, served with the appropriate amount of mashed potatoes and snap peas...if it would have been appropriate, i would have licked my bowl clean. No complaints from me on the kitchen. With that said, I could have been so hungry from having to wait soooo long for any food...from the complimentary bread, to the ordered appetizers to the food to the table.... I could have been so hungry a grilled flip flop would have been great. After everyone was done, which most of us loved the food, one in our party complained that her burger was not done enough, but she still ate 80% of it, so she really did not have a legitimate complaint if you ask me, it came time for the bill. I picked it up as a Birthday/Christmas present to the table. Now, I have eaten at several great steak houses. Pappa Bros in Dallas, Rough Creek in Glen Rose, Eddie V's in Fort Worth... like i said, I like food... but for 4 benjamins you would think the service would have been a little more spot on for that price.... in the midst of a remodel or not, I am a paying customer and would expect to be treated as such. At this time, I will not be giving any of my friends a recommendation to visit your establishment. Although it's been a month or so, I continue to think about our experience with Silver Fox Steakhouse. The occasion, Daddy Daughter Dance dinner with 3 daddy's and their 3 exuberant daughters aged 8-9 years, which also happened to correspond to a busy Valentines' Day weekend. With more than a little trepidation at the ruckus that would undoubtedly ensue, reservations were made and we arrived. Without missing a beat the General Manager, David Feigel and his staff made it a night to remember! We were made to feel very welcomed, appreciated and un-rushed. The service was on point and excellent. Everyone paid special attention to the girls on their big night out, with special touches throughout. Memorably, without any warning, two bottles of sparkling "wine" appeared, and with all the seriousness that fine "wine" deserves, the girls were served their fine "wine" in fine crystal wine glasses. We returned here recently to celebrate a special occasion. It is removed from maddening crowd on West 7th and the long waits for a reservation downtown. The atmosphere is upscale without being stuffy, tables a nice distance from one another. The wait staff were outstanding- highly attentive without being intrusive. The food was even better than I recalled- not a thing I would change. I highly recommend the Texas Pecan cake which was amazingly light and unique! Made a 5:30pm reservation for Valentines Day 2017. Of course traffic interfered and we didn't get there until 5:45pm. No problems searing us. Lighting was low but pleasant, as was the music. The table was a little larger than we're used to for a couples dinner - no elegant way to hold hands across the table. Oscar, our waiter was a delight. He checked on us often enough to be convenient, not too much it was intrusive. I asked for a nice Cabernet with dinner, he delivered beautifully. The meal itself was nice. We opted for the Valentine special. The lobster bisque was lovely, my partner thought it was a small serving but I felt it was just right to leave room for the rest of the meal. The lobster tail & steak were cooked to perfection, we really enjoyed them. The side of snap peas were mushy but I enjoyed them anyway & the mashed potatoes were yum. We did not feel rushed through the meal which was very nice, especially on such a high demand night such as Valentines Day. We enjoyed ourselves and the atmosphere. First impression was actually a very good one. Went to the bar for drinks prior to being seated in dining room. Bartenders were VERY friendly and mixed a great martini as well. This was indeed the highlight of the night. Probably should have had a couple drinks in bar and went elsewhere. Moved to the dining room which had a decent ambiance. Started by ordering a bottle of wine, but it took an unusually long time to arrive back at table. For an appetizer we ordered the tuna tartare which was ok, but lacking in flavor. Wife ordered the lobster bisque soup. Probably the worst lobster bisque either of us have ever tasted, having the consistency of water. For our entree we both had steaks. My filet was slightly over cooked, but not enough to bother sending back. It was, however, a sodium bomb! Could only eat about half due to the amount of salt. Mashed potatoes and gravy were good, snap peas...meh, but we also added creamed spinach. Was nice to see it was fresh spinach and not frozen, but the "cream" had the same consistency as the soup...water. However, it sure wasn't short on sodium either. Pretty much a common trend here, salt, salt and more salt. We really tried to like this place, but no way we will ever be going back. Might possibly stop for a drink in the bar, but nothing beyond that. read more

This place was wonderful! I don't understand what the bad reviews are about!!! We got here early (5:30pm) for dinner and the waiters were inspecting the empty tables making sure everything was perfect on the set up. The food was amazing!! We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our experience. We are here a few days before Christmas. Love the ambience, the classic Christmas music playing and the lighting. I just told my husband this place takes me back to "classy", before everything was laid back. We did wear blue jeans in the restaurant, but it is a very nice place. read more

I took my wife on a date here and the first thing we noticed was a strong sewage odor permeating throughout the restaurant. I asked the hostess about the smell and she confessed there was nothing they could do because of construction next door. They did have scented oil sticks to cover up the smell. Okay, it's not there fault, I wont hold that against them. The biggest problem I had with this place was both of our steaks were not cooked correctly. I order medium and my wife orders medium well. We hate to send them back but as my wife is pregnant she does not want to eat a rare steak. So they take her steak and after a while return with the same steak completely charred and over done. Meanwhile I'm wishing I had sent my steak back as well since it's well-done and shocked that they returned her steak in that condition. I don't mind paying a premium (this place leans towards overpriced even if they had executed perfectly) but if you cannot cook the steaks correctly even after they are sent back you've lost with me. read more

This was our first time to Silver Fox. My husband and I arrived on time for our 7:30 reservation and walked into a noisy, chaotic restaurant. It was obvious the hostesses were more interested in conversing with each other than acknowledging we were there. When they finally looked over to see we were standing there, they preceeded to inform us there would be 20 minute wait. After 30 minutes of standing shoulder to shoulder with all the others herded in, we inquired about when we would be seated to which the hostess responded, "We can't predict how long it will take people to eat. It will probably be another 30 minutes." Ten minutes later, we decided at that it didn't matter HOW good the food was, we definitely did not want to spend any money in this joint. This, by far, was the poorest excuse for service we had ever experienced in a restaurant. It was obvious by the eye rolling when I informed the hostesses about how dissatisfied we were that no one cared about a customer leaving (after all it WAS Valentine's weekend and the lobby was packed with people waiting to take our place). This restaurant managed to turn a highly anticipated night out into a nightmare without even so much as an apology. DO NOT waste your time or money. read more
