Silver Fox was excellent! Our server Alyssa was delightful! Charming, positive and sincere. My companion had the Delmonico steak and it was exquisite, melt in your mouth delicious. I had the Filet which was also very good. We substituted the broccolini for the sugar snap peas. It was cooked to perfection, still firm but not overly so. You even get to choose your steak knife from a cute little box of an assortment of different steak knives. I thought that was rather cute and surprising. We were asked if we were dining there for a special occasion, and I felt bad that we weren't, and the impulse to invent something was strong, but just went with the truth, hungry for a steak. I overheard other servers asking the special occasion question as well. It's nice, but somehow makes you feel guilty that you aren't celebrating, pressure you might say. While we used to frequent the Silver Fox in Grapevine on a regular basis, have not been to Ft Worth location in a couple years. However, recently learned Chef Saul, formerly of the Grapevine location, moved to the FW location, so it was time for trip downtown. Upon arrival, Saul came out to greet us and quickly remembered our favorite entrees. Although not currently on the menu, Saul was able to prepare my wife's favorite, Sea Bass. The fish was cooked perfectly as evidenced in the flaky layers. My bone-in rib eye was perfectly seasoned and cooked per request medium rare.. just amazing. We started the meal with a shared crab cake, which was prepared by hand with jumbo lump crab and no fillers, with the exception of bread crumbs. Pan fried and made with a remoulade sauce, it was perfect. Be sure to ask for the pickles while you are enjoying the fresh baked bread. As far as upscale steakhouses go, one of the more acoustically quieter places where you can enjoy the conversation of your table guests. read more

What a lovely establishment in a lovely area of town! Located on the outskirts of downtown on the University area, Silver Fox is conveniently located near a cute strip with lots of parking. They also offer valet. Upon entry, I was greeted by a beautiful hostess and directed to my dinner party. Our service was phenomenal the entire time. We were checked on periodically, our dirty dishes were gathered immediately, and we were even greeted by the house chef! We were really provided an amazing experience. We drank from four fantastic Pinots from all over, Oregon, California, and even in Paris. They were all so full and flavorful, I couldn't select a favorite. The wines were paired with lovely appetizers ranging from cheese/meat trays adorned with olives and cherry jam to baked mushrooms topped with cream cheese and breadcrumbs. We went on Thanksgiving and they were running a special menu, so our experience might be slightly different than the usual. The service was below average. Our waitress was pleasant enough, but items were delivered to the table by a separate individual who spilled the soup and didn't take much care in setting down the plates. The interior of the restaurant is very dark - low lighting, dark red wall coverings, dark wood - which made it hard to see the food. But none of the presentations were very nice, so maybe that was intentional? I tried to take photographs, but they really didn't come out looking appetizing. Both the wedge salad and their famous III Forks salad were positively buried under blue cheese dressing which completely overpowered anything else. I had the pork chop, which was pretty bland. It had a peach glaze, but the glaze was also very bland. The portions were beyond generous, but I honestly didn't want to eat any more after a few bites. The menu is pretty pricey overall, and it seems they want to give you a LOT of food to make it worth it. If you're into quantity over quality, you might like this place. If you're looking for a special occasion meal that actually tastes good, I'd find somewhere else to go. read more

What sad service the resturant was so cold I asked 3 times to turn the air up every time they say I will tell someone. Then I told the manager and he said it takes a while to warm up. Will it never did and I never saw the air stop blowing on my table. And the manager never came back. What bad customer service. I should have left but I was too far into the meal. Plus we could not move the place was busy. I will never go back since the staff did not care to help me. I do not want them to get any of my business. Love the appetizers they were bringing around! They were very tasty and delicious! Basically got to try the sampler and they were all good. Terry and Doug kept going on about their III Forks salad. So we all craved it and got a table to order food. The salad was good. It's doesn't top my top list. But it definitely was good. Eat it as is. I got cracked black pepper on it, and it made the salad not as good. The prices on the menu are on the more expensive side. So I'm not sure if I'll be coming here again. The waiters were nice though. And they have complimentary valet. You can give them your cell number and text them at the dinner table for your car. So by the time you pay your check, your car is outside. I heard great things about this restaurant but I was disappointed. Ordered a filet mignon and Creamed spinach. Steak was ok - a bit dry and I don't think it was prime. The spinach wasn't cream spinach and when I mentioned it to the waiter, he said he thought I ordered the sautéed spinach. I told him my disappointments in the meal and the whiskey sour - drink was pretty but had a funny taste - I ordered Maker's Mark and supposedly got it. It was so delicious! Had caprese salad for appetizer - perfect! We ate in the bar, but didn't feel like a "bar" experience - it was really nice and the amazing server took pictures of us - which I know can be annoying! The manager greeted us when we sat down and did follow-up visits. I think his name is Dan, but not positive. Hostesses were very friendly too. This place is average to me but to be fair I was limited to order of a pre-set menu (during a holiday). I have driven by the restaurant a thousand times so I was very excited to dine there. However, I felt like it is too much like a cookie cutter style restaurant. The service is good, the food just didn't live up to my expectations. Let's start with the ambiance: The bar can be quite active on weekends and provides an excellent place to relax and enjoy a cocktail or two. Connor and Matt are the BEST bartenders. They truly have a following. The restaurant is quiet and is a perfect place for a family dinner, a date night or business meeting. The remodel is beautiful. Managers Dave and Richard go out of their way to make sure guests have the best possible experience. I typically order a filet and my husband likes their lobster. It breaks my heart to give this bad review and say good bye to Silver Fox - Fort Worth but last night Silver Fox broke my heart and charged me $152.50 plus $10 tip (very generous for leaving feeling so hurt) for that privilege. We have dined at Silver Fox for years and have always been happy but this will be our last time. Dining Date: August 19, 2015 with 6:30 reservations. Occasion: Wedding anniversary. Food quality: Perfect we could not have asked for better. Service: If we were two businessmen having dinner the service would have been just fine. The problem is that we were not just two businessmen stopping in for dinner. We were two men celebrating our wedding anniversary. Our bad experience started when we were being seated and I noticed a rose on the table. How sweet I thought. The girl seating us looked at the rose then looked at us and gave a funny look then visibly shook her head as she was walking away. This was aggravating but I let it go. Once our server greeted us I made a funny comment about the rose and he said "It's a corporate thing" then never mentioned another word about our anniversary. Our friends always tell us that they were offered a complementary dessert and Bailys cocktail for their anniversary's and on the previous night my employer and his wife were offered a complementary dessert for their anniversary so I know this is still your policy. We had done our anniversary here before and I just thought they forgot to offer anything but this is two times so now I can assume that this is the policy of this store. Our meal was over and still no offer. I ordered the Bananas Foster and hoped that it magically would be comped but nope $9.95 right on the bill. It had big 'ol pieces of real lobster and was so creamy it was like a smoothie. They added fresh cracked black pepper bein all fancy as they are and it just brought out the sweet succulence of the lobster. I had the bone in filet for my meal. Ordered that little nigguh a rare plus (a warm rare/cool medium rare cause I'm a picky little punk). Cooked perfectly. They gave me this steak knife but I didn't need that shiz, dog. A plastic fork woulda cut this. For real, fam. It was thick too, like 2" easy. Seasoned to perfection and then backed up with some mean, we're talkin MEAN mashed potatoes. Like God himself whipped those boys up in the back. I ordered some sides but everything was so good it almost starts to blend together. I mean, damn. I was pleasantly surprised on how good my meal was here. My filet was excellent and I loved the seasoning crust on the steak. Unlike other fine-dining steakhouses, the meals come with your choice of a side dish, so we didn't need to buy the sides separate. For an appetizer we had the Caprese salad, a favorite of mine and I'm glad they offer it. The restaurant is only open for dinner which explains why every time I've driven by the restaurant is closed. Well, that's $150 bucks I wish I had back. We have always loved Silver Fox , but hadn't visited since they added seafood. Not sure, but I'm wondering if that's when they lost their focus. We chose to do the Restaurant Week menu, and while the price was attractive, we truly felt that our server was impelled up-sell us. At every step, we felt pushed to take the more expensive options. To start with, *before* we saw menus, the waiter rattled off a bunch of water options. We said, umm OK errr... still water. He went to fetch it and we looked at the menu, where we noticed the prices of the "water offerings." He returned with a quite silly bottle of water floating unattractively in a champagne bucket. I said, pointing at the menu and staring at the ridiculous bucket, "Are you really going to charge us $7 bucks for that?' To his credit, he allowed us to send it back and opt for the normal free glass of water. The RW menu had a nice bottle of wine for $28, but the waiter pushed more expensive options, which we rejected. (The $28 dollar bottle was quite nice, BTW.) He also tried to up-sell the steak/lobster combo, but at $65-ish I thought quite overpriced. We decided to stick with the RW menu. We each had a IIIForks salad (my absolute favorite) but the salads were small, and one of the salads had ONE pecan. Really? The RW dinners were tasty but the presentation of small portions on large plates made you feel like a red-headed stepchild. Mr Possum had salmon, Mrs Possum had something called a Philly Filet. Both entrees were cooked well, it's just the presentation that displeased. Small portions are expected for RW menus, but the huge plate just made the whole thing look quite silly. Before dessert, the waiter came around with an untidy cart of digestifs and pushed some super sweet drink with a cool art-deco bottle that we rejected because of the price of $30 per tiny portion. But so worth it, he said, because it came with bleu cheese that totally changed the taste profile. NO thanks. I mean, Good LORD! You're kidding right? But then he did manage somehow to persuade Mr Possum to add a 3rd dessert for $7.95 because Mr P has a weakness for bread pudding (which comes with super-special exclusive Blue Bell cinnamon ice cream!!!!) and then guess what!!!! The $30 digestif was now miraculously only $15 bucks! OK so we now have the 2 desserts from the RW menu, plus the super sweet dram, plus some bleu cheese on a plate AND a massive bread pudding topped by a massive blob of ice cream. It was a nightmare. The RW desserts were sadly unremarkable and unworthy of the restaurant. The bread pudding was bland and awful. Not enjoyable in any way. Hey, Possums will eat almost anything, and yet we were rejecting the whole dessert course. I am SO SORRY to leave such a bad review, when we have loved this restaurant in the past. Stopped in for restaurant week and Silver Fox had been on my bookmark list for quite some time now, so it was a pleasure to finally stop in and check this location out. First impression was made at the bar, where while I waited for the rest of our party to arrive, I enjoyed a Knob Creek Old Fashioned for the mere price of $4.75. Now, IDK if that was a happy hour price or I was just looking ultra dapper that day, but that's an amazing price by all means. We all sat down to dinner (me next to the cutest of the bunch if I may say), and quickly perused out way through the RW menu. We all seemed to settled upon the Chateaubriand, though it was a toss up between the Three Forks Salad and the Asparagus Soup. Speaking on behalf of the asparagus soup, it was texturally pleasing but was lacking a bit of seasoning on the salt/pepper end. The butter knob used as a garnish/accompaniment was a bit lost. It was still not a bad soup. The conversation grew.... well, between myself and my, then determined, fraternity mate across the table. Don't think my date was lost in this experience... she was the highlight of the scenery on all levels. As we talked, the Chateaubriand arrived along with sugar snap peas and whipped potatoes. The server's assistant offered sliced tomato and spring onions, which I was obliged to both in accompaniment. The meat was tender, but still, Chateaubriand is the French filet equivalent of prime rib left a little to be desired. It was still good, but lacked the smoke from a grill that I craved from the menu, especially for RW. Dessert came and was more than I could expect. A slice of four layer cake with nuts just couldn't find room inside my otherwise, usually copiously spacious stomach. They obliged my date outside of their RW menu with berries to accompany her gluten free needs, which was overly generous and a great step on their behalf. that still retains respect with me being from the service industry. The cake did admittedly look like it might be dry, but was remarkably moist. Huge plus... All in all, in their defense, we only perused the Restaurant Week menu, and in its limitations, the experience was decent. It was certainly bolstered by some of the best company that I had experienced in a significant amount of time... I mean, to sit next to my date, I looked like a lottery winner to begin with, so how could I not enjoy myself? Went to this restaurant with a friend and had no idea this was an upscale steak restaurant. This restaurant is comparable to the look of the Del Frisco's in downtown Fort Worth, kind of old world. Great service from minute you drive up to valet, being greeted and seated by your hostess, and your server iterating the daily specials. That night I went with one of the daily specials, filet mignon with crab legs. Of course, I'm a bit complicated and like my meat cooked between rare and medium rare. My meat was cooked to absolute perfection, so tender and that melt in your mouth texture filet mignon is known for, and whatever they used to season was quite unique and tasty. Their crab legs were laser cut, making it easy to dive into the large succulent crabs legs with the herb butter they leave heating on your table. My friend had the sea bass and got to taste a bite...........just excellence. I never tasted fish so buttery and flaky, not under cooked or overcooked. I find most places overcook your fish and really never consider a fish plate at a steak restaurant. After having that bite, I will reconsider ordering my stance on ordering fish at a steak house. I enjoyed my meal so much, we went back the next week. Luckily, they had my plate as one of the specials again. Since I was so pleased with it the first time, I ordered it again. We came on a busy Saturday evening . The bar was the only available seating offered so we took it . The bartenders were mad busy but very polite and took our orders and prepared our drinks as promptly as they could . The tangerita was lovely I would recommend -it had a nice orange floral note that lingered long after you swallowed . Giggity . For apps I had creamy wedge salad and a rich and flavorful lobster bisque. Neither disappointed . Unfortunately the kitchen was quite busy and it took about 45 min for the entrees to appear .. which were two tenderloin filets . To no fault but my own, i sadly got full on the bread while waiting for my meat to arrive .. I tend to eat butter mindlessly if it's in front of me. But for 40 dollars a steak I probably would not get it again (it was called dinner for two) . I think it would be better to share one, more expensive/flavorful cut next time and save the money for something else . read more
